What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 766

This is yesterday afternoon, but it doesn't look any different this morning.

Oh, that's not true. I've moved the tub of pens and the box of little wooden houses to the dining table because I'm corralling stuff again. This time all the bits and boxes and stash and equipment that I'll be taking away at the weekend. This week I've cleared out a couple of cupboards and found these unused pastry cutters; so decided to make hanging decorations out of them for Easter, starting with sticking them to some seasonally spring like paper. Tricky but not impossible, getting silicone glue on the cutting edges!  I had to cut the top edge off the silicone glue because the nozzle end is solid. Makes me cross that it goes off so quickly, but can't banish it from my collection of glues, too useful!
So, as is routine, please join in and link .... we need to see each other!

Routine can be a useful distraction and even a comfort. Zoe is a long time friend of WOYWW and those of us that know her are reeling from the shocking news that her son, Keagan, died last weekend after an horse racing accident. He was a professional jockey. I hadn't met him, but felt a little bit as if I knew him. He was a youngster when we first met Zoe and she told of us his caring nature and  his ambition to ride and we've followed his maturing and working so hard ever since to realise his ambition. His dream. He was a special son and we all feel his loss in a tiny way, and wish Zoe nothing but peace and comfort as she faces this new reality. I wish her routine and distraction and love and hugs and a safe place to howl and vent; I'm quite sure we all do.

  1. I love the pastry cutters, I hope the plan for Easter decorations works.Do show when you've persuaded the silicone glue to do it's thing!

    Enjoy the weekend away.

I was shocked beyond belief when I read about Keagan. Such a terrible thing to happen. I hope Zoe knows how much we feel for her loss.

  2. Well don't die of shock that I'm here again. It's only because today was a quiet day I managed to do a post... and my advantage is your 6am is our 5pm... or thereabouts. Otherwise I'd be very latish. Bizarre isn't it, time zones, still don't quite get my head around it especially with my US friends 15hrs behind and more. 😵

Coralling, now I need to do that more often Julia especially as I spread so much these days... I'm with you on that whonge about silicone glue, even worse in the heat Downunder.
I read on Neets post about Zoe's son so my love thoughts and prayers are with them all so very sad.

Thanks also for sharing faithfully each week, Julia, and may God bless you and keep you and all whom you love safe and well for 2024!
    Prayer hugs, Shaz in Oz.x

  5. Oh no! What sad and terrible news, I think of Zoe often, as her ATCc are a marvel of Copic colouring. I see them from my desk. I am devastated for her.

  7. No Easter biscuits being made first then Julia? Sounds like a great idea and much less fattening.

  8. I have been completely derailed by Keagan’s death and can’t stop thinking of Zoe, poor girl. The cutters are pretty, another Coven weekend away?

  9. I don't know Zoe, but I am so sorry to hear of her tragic loss!

I hope your Easter Decorations are a success! I don't even want to think about Passover! It isn't until April 22, but there is a month of preparation and cleaning before, eight days of observance, and then two or three days putting away all the Passover items and returning the kitchen to normal.

Enjoy the remainder of your week!

  10. That's a great idea to use the cutters that way. I bought some years ago to use with clay but not sure I ever got round to it. I remember Zoe too and Keagan from photographs she shared and he looked so happy to be doing what he had always dreamed of doing but this is such sad news. Sending hugs Angela x9x

  11. How absolutely heartbreaking for Zoe. I've just left her a message on FB. Oddly she's been on my mind a lot because meeting her at the WOYWW crop was the first time I'd ever come across EDS. She was so proud of him & his riding even then so I'm so glad that he was able to make it his career. It's strange but the news has absolutely floored me.

I'm impressed by your upcycling and your commitment to silicone glue. I used it once and loved it but there was no cap so I didn't know what to do with after that! I'll stick to foam tape... xx

  15. What lovely words about Zoe - a terrible accident. No mother should have to suffer what she has. They were so close too.
Glad you've had a good clear out and are getting rid of some stuff this weekend, but what a good idea to make a mobile out of the cutters. Mind you you must have the patience of a saint putting glue on the cutting edge. I take my hat off to you.
    Have a lovely weekend,
    Hugs, Neet 10 xx

  16. What dreadful news 😢😢😢😢 I feel for her, losing a child is so hard, it's it's supposed to happen that way😢 He got to live his dream, which is something. My heart goes out to Zoe. Too many deaths lately, we've had 3 in our family since the summer.

You desk looks nice and tidy! The cookie cutters are intriguing, looking forward to seeing them up and hanging for Easter!
Have a great week, Lindart #18

  18. Hi Miss Julia.
Thank you for letting us know about Zoe's son. So sad. You always keep us in the know and we love you.

Such springy colors to see on your desk as I've just taken down my Christmas tree. LOL Should have come down last Wednesday after Imbolc but just to wet/ cold to traipse out to the warehouse to put it away. Enjoyed the pretty colored lights a few more nights.

Look forward to seeing your Easter decor!
    Love, Hugs & Creative Blessings!
