What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 743

Credit for this scenario goes to my lovely Sissy, who drove from her seaside home (call it my beach house, if you will) to show off her fresh and rather beautiful tan after a lovely holiday. I sat her just slightly out of the way with a coffee and tidied while she told me all about it. It was marvellous. The holiday, that is. The tidying, well, much less tedious.
The basket is full of cards to be delivered to my friend's new shop. It's been fifteen years at least since I made cards to sell and I have no idea if they even will sell. There's a mix of styles and occasions. I'm more than happy to have them back if they don't sell, I figure that I'll know within a couple of weeks. I plan to change them quite frequently. There's four of each style, in two colours, so if any do sell, then I might be able to get a feel for popular styles. Who knows. Next to my glasses are two of the small brushes from an invaluable set that Kathy gave me -  they were in the kitchen after a hair wash, now drying nicely. Honestly, if you use ink in a direct to paper way, I can't recommend this type of brush enough, and as Kathy knows, you need at least one set. Not one brush. One set.
Here's a drawback folks...bank holiday gardening, some decorating, month end and a trip coming up mean that the desk will probably stay tidy! Ridiculous! Show and tell please, all absolutely as usual!

  1. Oh wow, Julia. I love your desk this week. I could work at that desk. I don't make cards, so I would never be any help telling you what is new and fresh. I hope you get some positive feedback and maybe a few sales, too. I bet Glenda would know a few cards that would sell, because she was a designer for a famous company for awhile. Her cards are over the top. LOTS of fussy fiddly work to hers, though.

Have a super week, dear. Still getting over my food poisoning and sore back from the clean up. Boy, I'm a real mess (grin).

  2. How nice to have a distraction whilst you tidy, to make it seem less tedious. I am sure the cards will sell, good luck! I see lots of people using those brushes but have never done so myself, perhaps I should! Happy WOYWW xx

  3. I would love my sister to visit but fear of flying keeps it from happening. Sadly she is a clutter bug like me so no help at all except for the chat. Good luck with the cards! Is it Shopkeeper Gal I wonder…?

  4. Oh you know me, love a tidy desk, super that your sister enabled you to get sorted. I will always wonder what it is like to have siblings. Not really sure I am familiar with the brushes you are talking about but glad they have had a wash. And all those cards, now I know what all the busy card making was for, hope they sell well, what kind is the new shop, sounds lovely. Hugs BJ #6

  6. Hi Julia, I'm here at the moment but will soon be on the move again so will pop round everyone else when we reach Matlock (we're in Whitby at the moment). Lovely tidy desk today. Well done with the cards I'm sure they will sell well. You really need to get more of those brushes as they work better if you don't wash them and at least keep them for one colour or similar but you will find that if you just brush briskly on some waste paper most of the left over colour will come off on it's own. Better go now and see if I can catch up with a few deskers before we have to leave. Happy creative woyww, Angela x12x

  9. Oh loving your desk, I'm dreaming of that Little by little I'll have my area back in shape. And my sanity I hope. Great you have an out for your cards. I've so many made up, I'm to the point I may donate to the thrift shop I frequent way too much!!! It's sad but here it seems NO ONE sends cards our mail is pathetic. All part time people in and out, somedays it's here 10 am somedays its 4 pm and for a week we had about 8 other peoples mail. Wondering how much of ours is missing. Sounds like fun busy schedules. ENJOY seems time flies by,

  10. How wonderful that you will be stocking a shop with your cards. Mostly my extra cards go to the nursing home where my sister works. The little patients can give a card to someone who does a kindness for them. My sister says she sees my cards on display on each floor and family members always say how much they enjoy them as well.

  11. Good morning Julia, we both have tidy desks this morning :) Lovely to have a visit from your sister. Thank you for reminding me I have a set of those brushes - unused because I forgot about them. Do you still do the circular motion with them? Happy WOYWW, Angela #17

  12. Cor Blimey Mate! What a difference a chat with a lovely sister makes to a craft room. Bit too far for mine to come so I guess my room will have to stay as it is.
Glad you understood me and my fear of the "scope" but I find as I get older I get more scared of anything and everything. Should be the other way around me thinks.
Good luck with the card sales, I have not a clue what is going on in the crafting world these days but am sure you will find your cards are selling. I like the idea you got of repeating them - very good strategy.
Take care, Hugs, Neet 7 xx

  13. Good morning, Miss Julia.
What a tidy desk you have. Hmmm... but good to see the product. Best wishes on selling the cards. You don't know until you try. Keep in mind that cards in one rotation might not do well, but others will next time. All about the what catches each person's attention.

Busy here, too. Bob just left for his two weeks and garden is beginning to produce heavily. busy busy busy. LOL Creative Blessings & Hugs! ~Kelly #20

  15. Hi, just arrived at the hotel in Matlock. We went up the Heights of Abraham earlier as we arrived before the check in time. So far the weather's been lovely. Oh by the way, I only use the rolling pin for crafting stuff not sure it would be a good idea to use it for baking too. I always keep an umbrella in the cabin but if it rains I just stay where I am, I have a kettle and coffee etc. but you're right it is a bit of a walk down to it but it's so peaceful I forget to go home sometimes! Sending hugs, Angela x12x

  17. Julia! I just clicked on your name on your comment on my blog and Yahoo! It let me into your blog today. I am soooo pleased to see your desk in all it's glory. ( I am easily pleased) I hope that means I can do it again next week - fingers crossed. I hope you are well. all fine here. Just had a great day with Ben. We both got the giggles when we heard the traffic was slow on 6 mile bottom. Typical boy humour he thought it was probably wind!🀣🀣

  18. Wow Your desk is tidy!, please come and do mine. I've been doing it for months, but to any outsider it still looks like the same mad mess, but at least the floor is clear...so far, my link to you is still working, I have no idea why! shhh! don't jinx it! Happy WOYWW ((Lyn)) #24....I think

  19. Happy Belated WOYWW. It will be interesting to see which cards sell the most. I have thought about making cards (or truthfully, designing them and getting them printed). Something I may look into when we move, as found a few craft centres/farm shops etc. At least people can go to Zazzle at the moment if they like my designs, and get it printed onto whatever they want.
