What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 738

Whoa, I'm obviously out of practice.
This much mess and I've only made five cards! I did stick to the rule of scrap which is something. But I need to be more productive, this sort of mess should really not happen for a measly five cards! I shall tidy up a bit and start again later, I want to make a selection pack of maybe three each of five designs, so need to exert some discipline! On the far right you can see my medium guillotine. Seriously, medium. It's smaller than the 12" one that I use for scrapbooking, and bigger than the A5 one that I use for little cutting. I know, I can't explain it, but little cutting is a thing. When it's a scrap but use-able enough not to be thrown out, or a mount that just needs trimming. Little cutting. You can't see it, but little cutter is on the desk, under the medium cutter. Both of which are balanced badly on top the the erm, big cutter. Bet you're admiring my imagination for naming equipment, huh! There's a new pair of glasses too, readers in a stronger number. Lordy. I bought them thinking that they would just send me a random colour choice. Turned out that I didn't have to choose, the price was for five pairs in five colours. I didn't see that in the description, so clearly needed the new strength!
Give me real strength please, show me your works and work desks, always good to see what I'm not doing! Put WOYWW in your post title and link here. Everything, including the untidiness, is normal!

  1. I must be blind, Julia. I don't see ANY guillotine cutter, much less a medium one. I see your various inks, your tape gun, a brown ring, what looks like a butterfly stamp, but no cutter.

Seems we all get these bits and pieces from oour scraps and when we remove paper from the back of sticky things. It really shouldn't take you all that long to clean up. UI think you think it looks worse than it actually does. At least you have been productive and have something to show for your week. Me not so much.

  2. I had to go to the post on my phone to see the cutter as the photo there is a bit smaller so shows more.. on here it seems to crop the edges....
I don't think your desk looks that messy (I guess it's all relative and what we accept as mess!) Hope you get your next batch of cards made. Happy WOYWW Helen xx

  3. Have been awakening about 1 a.m. this week Reset the air to cooler temps We are having high weather heat waves. Warnings on staying hydrated and inside. Gas went up 30 cents more so will limit long distances for awhile I guess. We've been out more than at home. He is on the down side of being busy for a change crops are good but we will need rain after this hot heat. Or will be in trouble for crops again. Even his garden is stressed.

I don't see your cutter either, but my 2 smaller ones quit giving me a good cut. Don't know where to get new blades for them as yet. I've a mess in my crafty space, but with this muscle issue, I can't lift much to be moving things around, definitely can't carry very much upstair steps. I feel like I am in slow motion. Enjoy these last days of July, man time flys by 3 weeks here and kids will back in school. Thanks for all you do to keep us together.

  4. Your cutter is def hiding from me but maybe I just need new glasses too. It's quiet here at Sewing by Annie's this week [now I've said that the work will flood in for sure!!] so I'm doing some sewing for pleasure and loving it....I might do a bit of patchwork this morning....or I might not lol

  5. Ah well, yes, as people say, you get a cropped photo, but right-click and you can see it all, in all it's glorious mess. I think I've made this reference before but your trimmers are like the Musician of Bremen, stack on top of each other all in a line :) A very quick hit and run as I am off for a blood test and then to knitting and also have Dear Son here for the day so busy busy busy and a mix of fun and not!
    happy desk hop day!!
    Happy WOYWW + Knitting day!

  6. I could only see the corner of the cutter but if it's less than 12" then I would call it small but then I was used to very big cutters at school so the ones we normally use are more like medium to me. I do have one of the little Tim Holtz Guillotines and I'm wondering if it might be like that. Scraps....we 're all guilty of keeping them, it's the law of crafting. Waste not want not as they say. Have a good woyww. Hugs, Angela x9x

  7. Aah think your cutter is far right? So pleased we have this group as i too have 3 different size cutters!!!! The small one for crops, medium for day to day crafting and large sliding one for paperwork/gig posters and flyers for hubbies band! Totally justified ;-)

  8. Morning!! Well I can't say much about my vision, swear it's getting worse week on week, certainly when it comes to crafting! I too have many different sized cutters and they are used for different things - I so get that!! I'm still on the look out for one like the really tiny one my mum had - super dinky and great for those little pieces that need a trim up!! I also wonder sometimes at the amount of mess required to make just one card (never mind 5). But I am trying hard to work tidy. Not sure I'm succeeding either!! Love n hugs, Cindyxx

  9. I have 3 cutters too! One is the jagged one from Tim Holtz. I think I need a new 12 inch one, I guess they don’t last forever - the fact that I have tried to cut too much at a time probably didn’t help! Happy WOYWW Angela #12

  10. Try as I might I couldn't spot the cutters, big, small, medium or anything else in between. Maybe I need new glasses, have you got a spare pair - LOL BJ struggling with as a really bad throat/cough as well as eyesight it would seem. Hugs BJ#14

  11. I wonder what craft item you have the most of? I can understand why three cutters are necessary but it’s storing everything isn’t it? I sometimes think I should do an inventory but it would probably scare me silly how much stuff I have! Stronger glasses…it’ll be the Sanatogen next… ;-)

  14. Try as I might I cannot see a guillotine. I can see in pads and tape guns but no chopper!
I don't think the mess on your desk is much to say you have been and made five cards. I can get just as messy when crafting 'on the hoof' but batch making I do tend to be tidy(ish).
I bet I have more than three cutters but then each has a different purpose ie most used, handy to take away, got lots of fancy edge cutters. Oh, I forgot the big one across from me - more accurate. Maybe I should put some away and see if I can do without them.

  15. Happy WOYWW. That is definitely a creative workspace. I hope there is also stash/scraps on the floor as well. I definitely expand to all areas when doing a good cardmaking session. Colouring is tidier, although there are usually a lot of markers out on the table. My challenge now is to keep putting them away in the right place. Ali x #19

  16. ps Right click on photo and open in new tab to see the full extent of pile of cutters etc! Loving the set of stamps bottom left.

  17. Is your medium cutter the thing on the right with a purple stripe? I guess the mess doesn’t matter as long as you know where everything is. At least with 5 pairs of readers you might always be able to put your hands on a pair. I was losing mine even when they were on the top of my head!
    Take care and happy WOYWW

  18. Wait until you see MY desk! I can hardly move, my workspace is getting smaller and smaller. I really need to do a big tidy, but I am so running out of room! So I can certainly empathize and relate to your desk! I feel that whenever I walk into my art room,, something is going to fall to the floor with a crash! Good for you for getting 5 cards done! Have a great week, Lindart #20

  19. HI Miss Julia.
I had to giggle at the 'needing' the stronger glasses. Five pair in different colors? You'll be coordinating with every outfit you wear!
5 cards is also a big accomplishment. I'm seeing a number repetition here. In Angel numbers '5' means a sign of freedom, versatility, promotion, and being resourceful and adaptable

    Creative Blessings & Hugs!
