What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 736

Good golly Miss Desker, there's been some genuine action!
Admittedly, this scene is a few days old, but the photo is fresh! I haven't got back to my desk since making a start on a couple of ATCS to swap. (And one to replace- Helen, I've assembled the parts...) I was having a chat with LLJ which is a great way to force me to sit still and do a bit of multi tasking. Obviously Jan was doing something with yarn, she never misses an opportunity to have busy hands. We touched briefly on the fact that I have cut up a Union Jack postcard to make the ATC background for my British bulldog. Is it treason? I hope not. I shall claim it's all in the name of art. And hope theres WiFi in the Tower! I'm not being a craft slacker, I'm working away from my desk, largely in the evenings, doing the thread journal and another time waster - the NYTimes mini and full size daily crosswords. My sister and her husband do the mini everyday and we now compete over the time it takes. On days where none of the answers rely on real American knowledge, I'm pretty reasonable, but where brands, politicians and different spellings are needed...epic fails! Nice bit of brain training though. To be honest, if you wanted to help me get back to my desk, you could consider a face time conversation!
All that aside though, really enjoying your summer desks, carry on with the showing and the telling please!

  1. Oh Em Gee! Definitely cutting up the Union Jack will be punishable. I only hope they have Wifi in The Tower and you can keep in touch with us each Wednesday.
You have me wondering about the NY Times crossword now, will have to take a look. Won't know anything about the political side but if the long term memory works might be reasonable on branding.
Well, don't faint - there is actually some crafting on my desk at long last. And a promise of more to come next week. Wowee!
Hugs, Neet xx 1 (just got up for my morning walk - (yawn) off back to bed now.

  3. I am sure cutting up the Union flag will be forgiven in the name of art Julia. Hubby and I often do the Telegraph crossword together as he has an online subscription. I couldn't cope with having to think about US spellings. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. sarah #3

  4. Glad to be of service! I thought it made a great ATC with the bulldog. I do love a crossword and do a daily cryptic one together with Wordle, Yeardle, Sudoku and jigsaws, anything to keep the old grey matter ticking over.
    Hugs LLJ 5 xxx

  5. It sounds like we have all reached the age where a bit of brain training is the way to go. I'm a wordle, connections, letter boxed, digits etc on the New York Times on my phone each morning too.....it wakes up my brain cells because it seems I need them waking to tackle my days now :-)
    Hugs,

  7. In days gone by they might have said "Off with her head" but I think you'll be alright. I was never any good at Crosswords or anything similar but I'm sure they help. Wishing you a very happy and creative woyww. Hugs, Angela x9x

  8. Kevin and I do the Guardian Cryptic every day - and we are getting our daughter to join in - although she thinks some of the cryptic bits are silly... Sorry to be MIA the lasy couple of weeks but I have been holidaying in Queensland with little or no internet.

  9. Good morning Julia. I think you are quite safe from the Tower, Just don’t tell anyone - Oh no! Too late - you did! 🤣🤣. I do Sudoku, that can be a game of frustration sometimes. Have a great week.

  14. Happy WOYWW. I would definitely want wifi in the Tower too! Crosswords are beyond me, unless very easy. My mum does the Telegraph one every day. I do like some Sudoku and wordsearch etc. Ali x #16 (PS Accidentally added my link to last week's post again)

  15. Hi again Julia. The Balloon dog is not available for actual sale at the moment. Kate wants Carabelle Studios to allow it to be sold but you can only get it when buying other Carabelle stamps at shows. Stampers Grove have it at the moment but I don't know what shows they will be going to. You can probably find out on their website. So many people want it and can't get it so you're not the only one. Take care, hugs Angela xXx

  16. I came back to read what everyone had commented and saw mine was missing. Not sure what happened to my comment, but I KNOW it was there early this morning. You might want to look in your spam folder.

  17. Hi Julia! I've never known anyone in the Tower, so that would be cool! LOL! I won't tell if you won't! Your desk looks nice and busy, and you do seem to be keeping busy during these summer days. Unfortunately I'm missing most of them, but hopefully will get out more once my ankle is healed up. Thanks for your visit, Lindart #17

  18. Yay just got my $30 gift card for the website of the scripture cards and the journaling Bible is in the post all the way from Jamaica should take 2-6 weeks to get here unless it sprouts heavenly wings.
As for my tablet, yes it's a printed "graffiti" case. The last different coloured case of the type I like. Son wasn't sure if I really wanted this particular one as the others have been a lot more gentile, but "why not" I thought. Hugs BJ#13

  19. I love seeing works in progress. And have missed - for some time now - following along with this community. Who knows, perhaps I'll join in again. Until then, I'll check in from time to time with gratitude for the sharing... and inspiration.
