What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 734

In the blink of an eye my American sister is on her way home and some administrative work is suddenly in order. Thing is, I can't bring myself to do it at the desk..I was outside, trying to make the most of the weather which is clearly starting to break. It got too windy, I couldn't deal with the floating and flying paperwork, so moved to a spot in the lounge where I could keep the garden doors open.
So, you can see the sofa and the 'fire proof' file that we keep the important stuff in, the wrinkled up tablecloth where I dropped it in a heap last night, (it's a lot of material to scrunch up) and at left you can see the basket that houses my rather neglected thread journal. We've done so much and been to so many places this month that I just haven't been able to keep up! What a great reason, huh! Then there's the box of embroidery threads, a small collection of colours by any account, I think it speaks volumes about my luke warm commitment to this particular expression of creativity! My footstool is piled up with the immediate 'to do' and a notebook for the inevitable lists, and there on the sofa is my Ma In Law's Kindle waiting for me to refill with library books. She didn't read for pleasure before we gave her a kindle and I can't tell you how happy it makes me to hear her talking about this change in her life, and how she sometimes can't put the book down to do chores! Wonderful things, words,  when put in a good order!
So, now that you've seen the splendour in which I wallow for rush admin work, show me what you're working on will you please...it may point me back to the relative sanity of my desk. Also, my Sis cleaned me out of cards that were left blank, so I have some re-stocking to do and you can be the inspiration driver!

  1. I don't think you'll find any inspiration on my workspace this week, but I will try harder next week! It sounds like you had an amazing time with your sister whilst she was here, and I am sure you will catch up with your admin soon! Happy WOYWW Helen xx

  2. I was one of those people who hated the whole idea of e-reader. Now, I love my kindle too! Lovely gift. I can see the order in the chaos too, it look a lot like home… ;)

  3. Goodness administrative work is the lowest thing on my list. I know it has to be done when you run a business, but it is a chore I put until the very last minute.

So glad you had a good time with Sissy and her husband. Sounds like you went many places, too. I bet you didn't take nearly as many photos as Helen and I take when we are out and about, though. I read she took over 1600 while she was off. Sounds like me, too. Thank goodness for digital. But I digress.

Nice to read your MIL is now loving her kindle and actually reading books. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have books. Hope you don't get bogged down with paperwork today, dear friend.

  5. Admin work in the heat? No thanks....in fact I'm not very good at it at any time so well done you. It will be quiet now your sister has gone back so it will be good to be kept busy. Keep smiling.
    Hugs,

  7. Hi Julia. Sorry to hear your sister is winging her way home but sounds as though you had a wonderful time. I had looked forward to our weekend in Yorkshire with great anticipation. It didn't disappoint but am finding it hard to settle down to routine. Take care Anne x 11

  8. Hi Julia, maybe it's a good thing that your sister came and cleared out the card stock as it might be enough to get you in the mood for some crafty fun or not Lol! Bet it's peaceful now she's gone and you can get the admin out of the way. Have a lovely woyww, hopefully a bit cooler. Hugs, Angela x9x

  9. How lovely that you had such a great time with the family, the house must seem very quiet now! Hope S has a good journey back home. Boo to admin work though, a thankless task, hope you whizz through it with the minimum of issues. Sounds like you need a shopping spree to restock your cards, I know you won’t enjoy that one bit!

  10. Not much to inspire you on my desk, I really want to get in a good sesh, but always something to frustrate my plans (and a lot of those are called Lionel!!). I love your sofa, looks nice and sensible and easy to get in and out of which is important for me these days! It's so hard to do productive things outside, as you say too windy, if too hot everything sticks to your arm or melts (!) or dries too quick......hope you got your admin done, I will be diving in to mine today. Have a lovely week, hugs Cindy #12

  11. Definitely a #seat# of activity! Have to say I'm glad the weather has broken as I wasn't functioning in the heat at all, still a bit warm for me though, the eternal battle of my husband trying to warm the house and me trying to cool it goes on! Nice to hear that I'm not the only one who prefers to read on a Kindle/tablet not that I read books though! Quite ironic that I love to teach little ones to read but that I don't really really any book other than the Bible myself! Hope you get some cards made soon, I just tend to make as required these days as you'll see on my post. Must get up and go shopping now, laters BJ #13

  12. Good morning Julia. Cloudy skies here and just a little windy. Admin always a bit of a chore, but necessary. I am glad you had a lovely time with your sister. We could all do with a Tardis so could visit without the travelling hassle. My mother in law never got the hang of the Kindle, she couldn’t get the hang of the stairlift either at our house. 13. I love my Kindle and can't think of a better way to read than that. Much easier to hold than a heavy book when one is getting on in years.
What is a thread journal please?
So glad you put all other things aside and had a wonderful time with your sister, that was the most important thing to do - and now you have more wonderful memories to scrapbook.
Take care, take your time, don't rush to catch up with jobs.
    Hugs, Neet 10 xx

  14. Now if you were me you would need a couple of days lying downish to recover!
Glad you had a great time and certainly the right weather for a change. I bet it's very quiet round your place atm.
    have a good week
    restful and quiet!! lol

  15. Happy WOYWW. No inspiration on my crafty table, unless you want to do some colouring. I had to refer back to missed blog posts to discover why you have a red tablecloth on the floor! That is a lovely idea, but definitely beyond my 'bandwidth'. It is 'proper' raining here now, so hopefully will be over to you today. Ali x #16

  17. So happy you had family times. And hoping they had great flights. Seems east coast has been shut down air/land because of Canada smoke. It's a real mess.
Love the color of your sofa/chairs...I've been in and out. Grand daughter had 3 softball games in 2 days so went to visit alone. He waited for the birth of a new baby calf. Every room here is stacked!!! this and that. I hurt me knee getting out of my sons Jeep a 3 foot drop off. So I hobble. Hope to be back next week. Take Care. ENJOY each day. I've missed all.
