What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 726

Let me explain. The ATC backs and scissor sharpener have migrated to lie on top of the plastic wet wipe container so that I could stand the little Cricut on top of the 12” cutter that always sits at right edge of my desk. The little a Cricut only needs the iPad to make it work, so there you see the gap on the glass mat where it was sitting before I picked it up and moved it onto my lap in the lounge to write this.  Another view of the the AT  blanks storage box that Debbie made for me. And another view of the file and carbon paper etc for the painting of a plate to commemorate the Coronation. There’s a plate in the file, just s there was a couple of weeks ago. It’s a second one; I actually managed to get the first done in one sitting last week. Lucky I don’t want to serve food on them this weekend, huh! What you can’t actually see or feel, (although I wish you could) is my shredded patience and quiet fury. because the little Cricut has a lot to do this week, and every time I use it, the App freezes on my iPad and I have to delete it, download it again and start again. There’s a lot to be said for this little machine, but at the moment, because of the software experience, I’m not calling it by it’s proper name. JOY. It is not. Me, the iPad and the app will work it out, I’m sure, but meantime….argh.
Distract me do, show and tell of your desks and even your ATC intentions for the anniversary on week 728. Coming up!
This is a scheduled start today, I’ve got an appointment at 9am which is a bit rude!

  1. Always frustrating when technology doesn't work for you Julia. Glad my old Cricut still runs on the many cartridges I have. I usually do a search online to find images then pick the appropriate cartridge. Hope your appointment goes well. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #1

  2. Hope you can persuade "Joy" to play the game soon... it sounds a right pain tome!
9am isn't early... Hope you make it in plenty of time.

I've got my atcs ready (although not written the backs yet....) although I did think I might tweak them further.. bet it doesn't happen..

  3. I only just gave up using my legacy Cricut with SCAL and I mean just in the last few months. Every machine after that I always heard had issues. Wonder if they have taken a page from the Apple playbook and made things work badly to encourage an upgrade purchase? Ah, Debbie. I can tidying up and came across her Shaz commemoration piece, as well as Janet’s coasters from her last crop. Made me sad, but also a reminder of just how long we have been doing this!
    And all Thanks to you.
    Happy Woyww!

  4. I have no idea about the Cricut is as I have avoided getting involved for fear of having yet another machine half used. You will see that I am here as myself today not as Felix as everything has gone to pot this week as my laptop had a problem well it was Microsoft (pigs!) actually but I'm gradually getting sorted. Anyway nearly finished the ATCs. Hope whatever you're up to is something nice. Happy woyww, Angela x6x

  6. Good morning Julia, I’ve made it for another week heehee. All that technology on your desk is a bit much for my Luddite mind so I’ll just wish you a happy coronation weekend and hope your frazzled nerves are soon soothed once you’ve worked things out

  7. I've always fancied one of those scan and cut thingies, any make...but would I use it? Where would I put it? And would I ever learn how to use it? Hmmm? I'm thinking, no. I would get very mad if it didn't work! Having to keep logging into blogs everytime or be put down as'anonamouse' is anonying enough for one day! At least I remebered what day it is this week and have arrived a bit eariler! Have a great week. Happy WOYWW!?#6 ((Lyn))

  10. Technology is a JOY when it works. When it doesn't. not so much I agree. Plans for ATCs? Zero, but I'll think of something. Very impressed with your heirloom plates, I couldn't even be bothered to get my nails painted RWB. I find I'm so much less invested in Charles as a monarch. Have a great week, love n hugs Cindy xx

  11. I’m amazed the Cricut hasn’t been flung out of the window by now tbh! What a pain to have to reload the app constantly, you have more patience than me! I hope you’re having fun painting the plates and am sure they’ll be taking pride of place very soon. Hope your appt goes ok - after the hospice ladies have gone, it’s a day of gardening for me!

  12. The little Cricut is quite cute but the tech to use it not so it would seem. Lets just sat I am happy with the mechanics of my Cuttlebug. The plates sound cool, I've just buntingyfied my house! Hope the appointment was OK BJ#15

  13. Ooh the joy of tech and crafting must admit i try NOT to do the two together (only cos my pay the bills job is in tech so its a nice break from it). Done a little more on my ATCs , decided to only make 4 as that removes the stress hioe your appt went ok too

  14. Hope the appt went ok . . .
Loving the chaos on your desk! I am one of the 'don't need anymore technology' folks . . . even a new phone is postponed . . .
hope you have a good Weekend, will be interesting and an excuse to sit and knit, or crochet, or fussy cut, or . . . something sitting down!!!

  15. Happy WOYWW and hope that the morning appointment went smoothly. ATCs - I will think about what I am going to make, and actually get them made. Been a long time since I ventured into the world of 2.5 x 3.5. How annoying that the software side of your Cricut is not behaving. Is that just you, or is a thing in the Cricut crafty community? I used to own a Cricut - a Maker - and it did everything it was meant to do, and I loved the very active global community. However, after starting with Silhouette many years ago and having a very large library of designs, I would have another Cameo or Portrait (the smaller A4 one) if I dipped my toe back into actually using cutting files, rather than just storing them in Dropbox! 16. Sorry you’re having such trouble with ‘Joy’, Julia, I think I’d be offering it a re-programming with an AXE!
Hope your appointment goes ok. I’m currently sitting at the dentist, while Brian has a filling. We try to come together because Canterbury parking can be horrid. Still, it gives me time for a visit.
    Take care and happy WOYWW

  17. Hi Julia! I just purchased the Joy last week and have yet to really try it out. I hope it works OK for me, I will be using the computer, not my i-Pad which is so old it can't upload anything new. I bought it to make stencils with. Anyway, what a nice busy desk you have, and I'm thinking prep for the Coronation is going strong. you get to experience a slice of history! Have a great week, Lindart #20

  18. I just wish my head would get itself around something like a Scan n Cut but i fear I am a bit too long in the tooth nowadays for all that technology. DH is a whizz but has no interest when it comes to sorting things like that out. Good luck with it.
Hope you made the 9 am appointment on time.
I love steampunk and my atc's started off as SP's but I ditched the idea. Now I will be last minute. Not to worry, haven't signed up for many.
    Hugs, Neet 3 xx
ps seen the doc - steroids and antibiotics

  19. Hi Julia, thanks for the visit to mine. Just to let you know everything went well today. We still have to wait a couple of weeks for the final report but mum said all the right things and the social worker was very understanding. Mum was really well today and seems to have settled in and for once actually said she wanted to stay there. It wasn't that she didn't like it before but she had various infections that made her feel very confused. So fingers crossed and then we can clear the house and that will be another thing less to have to look after. I now look forward to visiting her because she's much more relaxed. Hope the rest of your week is good. Hugs, Angela x6x

  20. I had intended to join you again starting this week, but the best laid plans didn't turn out. In fact, for the first time since forever, I have skipped a day posting. I hope your appointment went well.

I'm so "old school" I decided several years ago I didn't need any more technology in my life. I have enough trouble keeping two printers, a scanner, and a camera talking to each other. My laser printer gets jealous when I want to use my inkjet, so I have to sweet talk it and convince it the switch is only temporary. Your ATC backs look very similar to the ones I designed, except my paper is a different size than yours and I only get 8 on a page, two of which are horizontal oriented. And unfortunately, I haven't even figured out the anniversary design I am going to make this year.

  21. You're sooo right about the car roof. John always did the roof, and then because I can't reach the roof of my van, he woud always say he'd do it...and then add 'properly'

  22. FYI Boots actually called me at the time we agreed after a few emails were sent to organise it. The lady agreed my experience was appalling and will be sending me a gift card as an apology, found out they don't currently have a manager at my branch which might account for it, I was called by a manager from a nearby branch, she was lovely. Not heard from my reglazer yet....Hugs BJ#15
