What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 710
Largely tidy desk, not too much of an eyesore, for a change! Actually, there is an eyesore. I’m still playing with cups and other images. You can see some small cups stamped in a very limey green. I thought I’d fill them with violet and yellow pansies. Had to use the magnifying lens to be able to colour them. As if that’s not ridiculous enough, the flowers now need fussy cutting out. And me, my eyes and my podgy fingers are just not up to it. I shall seek inspiration from my folder full of dies. Pretty sure my change of erm, artistic direction won’t hurt anyone! Very much in evidence is a new project that I’m undertaking. The family cookbook. It’s not a ‘get it done’ job, I shall work in it as and when; it’s definitely a journal of sorts, and this way, I can do handwriting, stamping, colouring, whatever…all without wondering why, or getting tied in knots about everything being contrived. After all, it is totally contrived! I’ll prolly show you some more about it at some stage, it’ll certainly be on or next to my desk for a long time to come!
well, this is a surprise, I've just scheduled my post and went to check my blog reading list before heading to bed, to find you've posted already! But I shall leave my post to erm, post, at midnight and link in the morning!
ReplyDeleteThe family cookbook sounds a good idea and you can leave a legacy for Miss D! Good luck with the flowers for the cups!
You’re early! Good to see your busy desk, the teacups sound a great idea but too much tiny fussy cutting would be a disaster for me. The cookbook sounds a fun project too, an heirloom for Miss D!

Oh my goodness, didn't expect this so early! I too came to check on my scheduled post, and check out my links and "ping" your new post all ready and waiting for link ups! In fact LLJ was there before me! Now I can go to bed and not have to think about linking in the morning - yippee. Yes nice to see you at the desk busy again BJ#2
ReplyDeleteThe Family Cookbook sounds like a lovely idea...
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday!
Loving the idea of a family cook book journal Julia. I don't blame you for a change of direction with that fussy cutting - my least favourite job. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #3
ReplyDeleteA family cookbook? what a lovely idea. As to the tiny cups and fussy cutting I'm not sure I would have the patience.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
Hugs,

Nice tidy desk Julia - enjoy the crafting when you have time. Love the idea of a family cookbook but doubt many folk would want my recipes! x x Jo
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW! One of my most treasured possessions is a wooden box, full of handwritten recipe cards (5x7 so very readable!) that my MIL gave to me when Chris and I got engaged. All the favourites are in there and I have added to it thru the years. It is stuffed to overflowing. It is sure to be a much loved keepsake when you finish. And I will love to see it for sure. Happy to be felling good finally on a Weds!JUst off to feed the cat then back to hop...
ReplyDeleteHAPPY WOYWW!

Violet and yellow pansies sent me right back to the fun meal out we had on Saturday. My main dish of chicken was beautifully decorated with them around the edge of the plate. Yum
ReplyDeleteThat family cookbook looks like a great idea. I don't do fussy cutting so the thought of all those tiny little flowers fills me with horror as beautiful as they are. I hope you find a suitable alternative! Happy WOYWW. Take care, with love & God Bless, Caro xxx (#12)
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, I love the idea of the family cookbook it would feel like you where making something that the family will love and keep. I smiled at the fussy cutting as I never thought I would do any but quite enjoy it now....occasionally! Wishing you a very happy and creative WOYWW, Angela x13x
ReplyDeleteOh Julia I totally know about fussy cutting "Tiny" but yours is much smaller ! The day I made cookies I decided it's time to redo the recipe box cards. Or should I say torn papers, sticky notes etc. So that is sitting and I'll now have time to sit I guess. Enjoy the week, and thanks for keeping us sane.
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of the Family Cookbook especially the decorating/journalling aspect. I can’t manage really small fussing cutting these days even with my tiny decoupage scissors. Happy crafting!x
ReplyDeleteOoh that is fiddly colouring and fussy cutting, must admit i would have gone the die cut route but fair play for having a go. The recipe book is a great idea, i have a very old folder when, as a wee kid i typed on a typewriter a recipe from my nan and great nan and then as an adult hand wrote 2 recipes my dad always made, i still use them to this day.

ReplyDeleteInteresting thought about the cookbook, I have a great pile of books . . . could never resist a good cookbook. . . . use 'em . . . rarely!!
have a good week

Love the idea of the cookbook but not sure I could be arsed. I'd probably end up with spag bol all over it. I feel your pain with regard to the eyesight especially. I hadn't thought of utilising a magnifying glass but think I've got a clamp on one on a bendy stick somewhere - will have to seek it out!! Peaked it a bit too early this morning and went back to bed hence I am behind yet again. Hey ho, nothing much else to do today!! Have a good week sorting the behind the scenes stuff, love n hugs Cindy xx
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, I have never enjoyed fiddly cutting out, a decent pair of scissors is a must. Do you have a lot of recipes for your family cookbook and are they ones handed down? An hour to go and we will be home. All the Christmas stuff is still in my craft room! Hugs Angela #18
ReplyDeleteIf they are really tiny flowers that are needed have you thought of a punch? When cutting tiny letters out for my birthday cards I scribble various colours on a piece of card and then just randomly cut out - you could do just yellow and purple? Just a thought.
ReplyDeleteAs for the cook book - I did mine on the internet, that way I can change, print out individuals and look up etc.
See I was thinking.
Hugs, Neet 5 xx
