What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 690

I found a pack of crown shaped cards and immediately felt the need for some bright colours and Janet Klein. So I actually tidied my desk, put stuff away and gave myself a clean Workdesk to start on. I haven’t finished with this pack of cards so I haven’t tidied up yet. Of course. The blending brushes are out in force and for a change, so far, only one pair of scissors! The mug is nearly empty, it was coffee. Can you see a pattern in the bottom right of the window? I was looking at the desk trying to work out which stencil was reflected in the glass. But it’s actually not a reflection, stupid woman that I am…it’s the bottom of a screen leaning against the fence! Good grief.
Join me do, in the great show and tell, it may take a while to get round but hey, it’s lovely to be allowed to gaze at your desk, thank you!

A Desker friend, Jo Pritchard, has died. She had been very poorly and receiving palliative care for some weeks. Her blog, JozArt (no longer accessible) was a treasure trove of paper and mixed media crafting. Her style was unique and eclectic. We met at a Crop and she was exactly as you thought she’d be - warm, generous and fun. She managed to get WOYWW a mention on local BBC radio once, by ringing in to talk about hobbies! At some point she gave up paper crafting and went back to her first love, fabrics, quilting and soft media. What a skilled woman she was. I didn’t know her terribly well, but no doubt that my life is the richer for her having passed through it, I’m grateful for that. Sincere condolences to her family and friends.

  1. I did wonder if it was Jo that Neet was referring to when she mentioned the loss but she didn't name her. I remember her (and her blog) too. How very sad. Was also saddened to see Cardarian (Dolores)'s Alan has died too.

the pattern in your window would make a good stencil....
Have a good WOYWW - I've linked Neet as she is away with little internet.

  2. Oh how sad! Jo and I used to chat about quilting and she used to collect quilts in her granddaughter’s name (Lily wasn’t it?) for poly kids. She was a lovely woman.

I agree, stencil patterns come from the weirdest things. New tomato slices are making the rounds and I’m tempted…

  4. I was so sad to hear about Jo. Like you, my life was certainly better for having met her and I have several little reminders from her in my sewing room that I will treasure from her.

  5. Love the bits and bobs you have on your desk. I love the colors and always Janet Klein's stamps. You mentioned the screen, funny how we see things. Gave me an idea, I'll share it next week. Enjoy some fun times and thanks for WOYWW time. It's 2 a.m. and I'm wide awake !! Plans for today may have to be scrapped.

  6. The crown shaped cards are fun. So what is a stencil I thought was die cuts, not had a great night only half awake methinks. Assuming little figure is by Janet Klein, not familiar with the name, must be stamps! Screen would defo be a good stencil. I've kinda given up on showing my desk as it's the usual boring old tidy one....Sorry to hear about Jo. BJ#10

  7. Quick whilst the internet is on: - Love the idea of using JK figures on the crown as well as her stencils in bright colours. Thinking about it actual crowns, not just cards could be good fun for a party done like this. Christmas is coming and all that ... just thinking ...
That is a lovely memorial to Jo. She once took us around Liverpool, her knowledge of the city would have shown up any paid guide. Daily I have a reminder of her on my trolley with one of those little containers she used to make as well as lots of other things. I don;t know how many know but she used to make mizuhiki knots, crochet and knit whilst travelling in the car (Dave driving of course), she could not sit still and do nothing. I just hope she can craft in heaven.
    Hugs, Neet xx 2

  9. Neet asked me to link her and I hadn;t noticed that Helen had done it already! You may need to remove No% link. Like the crown shaped cards, glad you’re enjoying playing. I was sorry to hear about JoZart too, a woman of great crafting skills.

  10. I love the crown shaped cards.
So sad to hear about Jo. I didn't meet her but did exchange some messages She made some lovely headdresses for my granddaughters and also sent me a gift, which I carry everywhere years later. Rest in peace Jo, and like Neet I hope you can craft in Heaven.

  11. It's always sad when we lose such talented crafters and it's also sad that you can't access the blog anymore as I think it's a great memorial to them. Nearly missed the Crop message with it being tucked below but I've read and answered it now. Loving the crown cards, shaped ones can be so much fun but you don't see them so often now. Wishing you a very happy and creative WOYWW, Angela x11x

  14. SOrry to hear about the loss of Jo Julia. Sad about Dolores husband too. Loving the way that the stencil works with the shape of the card. Have fun playing more. Trying to visit as many desks as possible before we head up to Scarborough for three nights. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #15

  17. Yes, I can see it, pretending to be a stencil, it would make a good one...only its probably in real life a little too big to put on your desck and stencil with it. So sorry to hear about Jo. Loving the crown and the little lady who of course is a princess in her own right. Have a good week stay safe. Happy Late WOYWW!?((Lyn)) #19.

  18. Oh dear Julia, I happened onto your desk despite not WOYWWing, I read when able…

I met Lovely Jozarty and Neet and Donna and Anne, neither Anne nor Jozarty WOYWWed for ages, and Donna went to Brittany, and now I see Delores’ has gone too, so sad, both precious ..

I remember Jo’s strawberry round table cloth as her Workdesk … which then was covered in round sheet of copper, I think it was, when she was doing metal work for a while then she went to her fabrics, so having met her, I’ve few keepsakes from her too.

My WOYWW key ring is piece of hers .. my first PIF .. and have a bible book mark thing both on my desk, if remember will share when next WOYWW, they’re in the corner with my monkeys.
Delores was remembered as we swapped ATCs and she was delighted to know that one of my favourite elegant creamy pink roses went by the name of Delores.

I didn’t think either of them were older than me, but maybe they were in any case, age has not a lot to do with if cancer or such involved.
I pray earnestly for all who loved them and are now missing them for comfort and Gods blessing and keeping upon them in this difficult time.

I chuckled at your reflection in the glass that’s me all over.
I’d WOYWW but I’m struggling still have an infection from mould in unrepaired part of hours, finally builder is making replacing, long fight with insurance to get proper job done since end of February.
I had one lot of antibiotics but it just comes back as mould spores still around. So I plug on … and rattling as I go because taking soooo many natural meds but they are working as no other infection has come near me the whole time, so spending up big at chemist like mind blower bill yesterday does pay off, if you’re on the right stuff.
    So it is worth it..

Thanks dear pal for holding the fort at WOYWW even when I’m not able to share as I’d like… or others.
It’s so comforting to still have WOYWW out there.
Praying your Crop is best ever. I’d love love LOVE to be there as you well know.
Told Neet she’s to give you a big hug for me from her.. do remind her if she forgets! 🤣🤣🤣
    Love and prayers, Shaz.x 🙏❤️🙏😍
