What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 684

Well, a week may be a long time in British politics, but it isn’t in the very everyday life of this very average woman. I’ve had a lovely week, but my goodness it’s flown by! Started last Thursday with a visit from my life pal Jan and her gorgeous G. We chatted and laughed and caught up over tea, supper, breakfast. We were so busy enjoying ourselves that we didn’t take any photos! I’ve been away for the weekend to celebrate family birthdays and the celebrations were enhanced by the absolutely gorgeous weather. And yesterday, I met up with a school friend; first time since before lockdown. So my word, you’ll expect me to be exhausted from chatting! Of course not! But as for desk time, hmmm.
1I’ve had time to turn the stacks of birds into two cards. They are drying - I blobbed some glossy accents on the eyes. I think altogether these two cards have been the feature on my desk for three weeks. I’m so very sorry that it’s been like that. I will of course fail to do better, but will compensate by taking pictures of interesting things when I do them so that I can at least distract from an empty desk! I was rummaging for something in my workroom yesterday which involved moving a box of Christmas stamps and do you know, it sort of tweaked my inspiration chord a little. I wonder if I can make the most? Tune in next week to see. after all, what else would you do in the hottest weather that Britain has experienced in a generation?! Wherever you are, keep safe and hydrated, and show us your Workdesk, please!

  2. Oh my it is hot! Love the cards, and 3 weeks is not a problem - we come for the chat as much as the craft. And like you, never tire of it. :). Lovely to hear you and Jan had a good catch up. Seeing people in real life is just so wonderful.maybe see you in October!
    Happy Woyww!

  3. you've done more this week than I have, there is nothing on my desk to meet the word "craft" but of course I will use the tickets somewhere.... one day. glad you have had such a good week. Happy WOYWW Helen

  4. My craftroom is in the attic so I can leave everything as it is if I have to. At the moment it is too hot to work upstairs so everything stays as it is. So it's a mess on my work table. I'm a little jealous of your neat table.

  7. Isn't that just great to meet good friends again? I think that it is giving such a great kick to life. I know about the "empty" desk, errr more like lacking of mojo and time to do anything. Don't be sorry about that. Life has its way to get in the way of what one wants to do. Thank you so much for still running little event each week.

Have a great day / week and thank you for sharing

    Hugs.

  10. It's good that you've taken time off to be with people you love after all the desk will always be there when you get back to it and in the end it's not the most important thing in life. Look forward to seeing what you get up to in the future obviously. Stay cool and have a lovely woyww. Hugs, Angela x11x

  12. Super cards Julia, I could do with a couple of birthday cards for the end of the month - LOL. Been a bit busy with church stuff and scrapping this week though. Great that you got to see Jan, family and a school friend. I phoned a couple of my old mates but that was the extent of it. Far too hot for me, looking forward to Asda today as it ought to be cooler. 13. I too am not encouraged to craft in this heat, or do anything else!
I think you have the best idea . . . . go out and meet up with family and friends and enjoy both the company and the warmth.
    Have a good week

  14. Good morning, Miss Julia!
Not a lot has happened on my desk either. June was such a busy month. Time to get back to work. I did make a Christmas card this week for my Make It- Mail It Monday post and video. I'm working on Christmas all month long! Maybe will help cool me off. These temps have been horrid! Creative Blessings! ~ Kelly

  17. HI Julia,
I'm sorry you are experiencing such heat. My niece just got back from France and said the same thing, she's never experienced heat like that before. So far (knock on wood) we've been very lucky. I even still have a blanket on the porch...Your cards, I'm sure, will be fab when you are all done! I'm looking forward to seeing them! Have a great week, Lindart #20

  20. Hi Julia! In answer to your question did I stop writing or move to another desk, I moved to another desk because I was using my laptop and my art desk was too high for comfort. I'm now using the dining room table which is just the perfect height! Hope you are having a lovely weekend! Lindart #20

  21. Hi Julia, for the record I am sort of glad I had the hand done, the tingling/numbing has gone completely so doing all that cutting-out was fine, I didn't need to stop/start like I used to. My left hand goes a bit tingly but not being used in the same way I can cope with that. I have certainly lost function in my right wrist, I cannot go on "all fours" which is awkward as my back exercises require me to do so, so it is a bit frustrating having to adapt the movements to accommodate my incapacity. I can't put my weight on it, I have adhesions too which catch the nerve if touched in the wrong place. At this stage I certainly WOULD NOT have the left hand done unless I was totally incapacitated with the carpal tunnel. Bitter Sweet I suppose - hence hidden journalling LOL. Thanks for your comment.
