Whats On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 657

Well, hello and happy New Year! I wish you a healthy, productive, creative and very happy year. It may seem that there’s plenty to conspire against these ambitions, but that’s all on a national and international scale if you ask me. Keeping it at our own level will be our way to keep control and enjoy. Obviously, you may disagree with me, but this is what we Dunnits have decided!
And so… to some desk action:
And there is action too! I’ve launched into January’s birthday card making, although to be completely honest, I’m not sure where this is going, I just wanted to stamp that lovely doodle border and fussy cut it. So I did. At left you can see my increasing collections of Janet Klein stamps, and a very arty new set which I only brought for the images with text in them. Top right is a new die that will, I hope, match to size of a stamp set I own. I bought it when Sarah announced Clarity Stamps was having a sale, last year, but definitely in the winter - it hasn’t been on my desk for that long!  I must get around to a play with it soon! The great thing about this photo is that I’ve found the blu-tack. It’s quietly sitting under the drinks coaster. I was looking for that on Sunday. And Monday. Not in a great, open-every-drawer way, but nevertheless, this is proof that a photograph can make you feel foolish without you even needing to be in it!
Please share your crafty new year desks with us here - did you have to clear it off for a wild New Year party, or did you escape to your desk for some peace and normalcy? Show and tell, do!

  1. Well, that was a surprise when I came to look for the link.
Well done Julia on beginning with the birthday card making. Just remembered I did one for a friend who has a birthday on the 5th (that's Wednesday isn't it?) but I don't think I scanned it.
Funny but I always seem to lose the blu-tack too.
    happy New Year to you.
    Hugs, Neet 2 xx

  3. You’re nice and early, Julia! Yes, I agree that it’s good for mental health to keep to small local steps.
Glad you’re enjoying making cards again.
Take care and happy WOYWW tomorrow

  4. I forgot to click publish! Obviously I was so shocked to be number one I was not thinking properly 🤣. Blu tack is one of those things that always get misplaced. Now you have found it, you probably won’t need it. Have a great week and happy WOYWW Angela #1

  8. What a fun desk, love the doodle stamp. I've joined a group of Wendy Vecchi on FB and she is really doing a LOT of doodles, even a class in January Ink, Stamp & Make Art to join. I like this early posting I can go straight to bed it's 10/30 pm here now usually up at 4am to post. Have fun with the birthday cards. I like your opening statements ! LIFE IS TO BE LIVED.

  11. Happy 2022, Julia and you were a day early for WOYWW!
As I’ve been absent for so long, I momentary wondered if in my absence the rules had been changed? For a Tuesday posting then the comments reassured me totally!😆

And I LOVE the DUNNIT view on things.
We focus on what we can change. ✅
We can’t change the world, or the country but we can change our immediate circumstances, especially by an attitude in which we count our blessings.
I actually love some results of Covid, I’ve slowed right down, my garden is totally loving it …
… and my thought is even more “do what you can with what you’ve been given”. We truly are so very blessed of God, although everything may not be hunky dory. And I’ll be the first to admit that.

I’m off for a walk now after all the chocolate I’ve eaten I definitely need to do it, but the gardening did earn me a few brownie points 🤣🤣.
“Few” perhaps being the truth. Praying for mumma Dunnit as well as your dear selves.

Now as usual I’m writing a huge comment. This is in party is why I’d don’t get as many done as I’d like.

Thanks for Sharing, God bless and keep you safe, and all those you love, hugs Shaz in Oz.x

  12. Morning Julia. Happy New Year to you. May 2022 be a year that is special and precious for you and your family. I found some blutack too this week - stuck on the garden refuse bin calendar...??? Now, I ask you, how on earth...???
    Have a great day

  13. Happy New Year to you and yours. Sadly there’s been little or no action on my desk apart from putting away Christmas but I start back to work today so we will see....I just need to feel better first.
    Hugs,

  14. Happy New Year Julia! I have already missed 4 birthdays - 31st, 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Fortunately none of them expect a card as year after year I fail to send one. I usually accept we are in a new year by the 5th (today) which is my youngest nephew's birthday. I did that card at 10 pm last night and will drop off today. And people think I am organised. Yep I think 1 day at a time is the best way and also back to making plans. Nearly 2 years is too long to defer living at my age. Love n hugs, Cindy xx #18

  16. Hi Julia, pleased to see you getting going with some card making, I must say I usually do a review of last year about now which helps me to get back in the mood again but at the moment I'm still working with a Masterboard I made before Christmas. Wishing you a happy and crafty productive woyww, Angela x20x

  17. A lovely pile of new stamps to play with! I must give mine a trial run as well! It drives me crazy when I can't find something - especially when I just held it and then it mysteriously goes missing in the Bermuda triangle of my desk LOL - only to emerge a few minutes later - it turns out it was there all the while I just didn't see it! I think our mind sees what we allow it to see - once you decide you can't find it - you can't actually see it, even if it's right there! Strange that! Glad it's not just me then! Happy New Year, Julia! xx zsuzsa (will link up later)

  18. I definitely escaped to mine for some New Year scrapping but it's all clear again now LOL. Super border. I never think to stamp on coloured card (I'm so not a stamper of any description anyway) but that border looks cool done that way. BJ - late to the party again - was awake at 5.20am but managed to get back to sleep till 9.30am! oops! #22

  20. Loving the Dunnit outlook, i always remember hearing Mr Motivator say 'never put the keys to your happiness in someone elses pocket' when he was talking about when you cant change what is happening but you CAN change HOW you react to it. That was decades ago but still, I think, relevant.
As to crafting, fair play on the card front i need to crack on with mine!!

  21. Hooray for finding the Blu Tac *happy dance* it’s a small victory but I’d take it! Like the doodley border and the die, they’re very you, I can see them being used a lot. You’re desk is looking very crafty, well done, mine is far from it though I have enjoyed slapping a few cards together, January birthdays and recycling Christmas cards for next December!
Happy 2022, may it be full of fun and crafting!

  22. Happy WOYWW. Nearly missed today, but paracetamol and will-power got me on the pc !! I have got a few birthday cards to make for the rest of January and February, so will be getting on with them soon. Simple designs they will have to be, and using up stash as much as possible. Glad you found the blu-tack. Ali x #27

  23. Hi Julia, I love all the Janet Klein stamps, I have a few myself I think it was Neet that got me into them. I also have family birthdays in January, my son-in-law on the 1st, and my nephew on the 2nd. Every year I forget about their cards when I'm making my Christmas cards, I really do need to get more organised. I was looking on your desk for the drinks coaster and Blutack, and can't believe there have been no other comments on what it says on the coaster, something about showing your knickers for chocolate?? Unless everyone has seen the coaster before and it's just me that hasn't noticed it. Have a lovely week, hugs Heather xx #23

  25. Oh dear, Julia, I've just written a long and full comment to you and stupidly lost it before publishing! And now I forget what I wrote. Something about being the latter due to my advancing years - I don't need too much of an excuse to sneak off to my craftroom these days but I reserve the right to use my ripe old age as reason no. 1. Also, I'm sure I congratulated you on getting back to making birthday cards. I don't at the moment, see reasons for no to a wild New Year party! I noted your addiction - hope that's not too strong a term - to Janet Klein stamps but they look very nice. And that I think was that. Have a creative and productive week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #28

  26. Congrats on your Jan. card making!
    Love the doodle border!
I've been searching for my small magnets for a board. Guess I'll have to get some at the store.
We stayed home for New Year's Eve but had very noisy neighbors with fireworks and guns. Yep, the Hispanic people love to shoot into the air for celebration. Scary.
    Happy New Year!
