What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 628

Well I turn my back to sort out the post decorating mess, and what happens? A whole week skulks past me. Just like that. Good grief.
In a heat haze too….it’s been glorious here, I hope you’ve all had a chance to enjoy some down time in the shade.
We had visitors at the weekend and in order to be able to fold all the doors back and let the summer in, the desk had to be eased out of its sullen torpor. It wasn’t hard. I stacked everything I haven’t used for ages on top of it and Mr Dunnit wheeled into the workroom.
We didn’t even park it, just left it to sulk. In order to take this photo, I had to open the door to the garage (it’s on the left, out of shot) and then open the garage door. It’s a good strong sunlight isn’t it. See the canvas pic of me and him and the baby her? That’s the wall which will accommodate the new door. Loss of cabinets and worktop there then. I predict an unwilling clear out. Not because I don’t want to have the room back to useable and the desk back where it belongs. No, I don’t lack the motivation for that at all. It’s just, well…now it’s nearly time to do it, I’m suddenly getting rather fond of all my stuff. I can’t really refer to it as stash, some of it must be so old it doesn’t qualify as stash!
So that’s where I am today, what about you? Show and tell, do. I promise if I excavate anything interesting, I’ll share it with you!
Have a great day.

  1. The final reveal of all your hard work decorating will be fun. I do hope you will share. We, too have been a doors-open, summer-in house this week, but alas, rain is predicted for tomorrow so maybe not for much longer. Ah well. Enjoy the sun while you can and happy Woyww day!

  2. I am sure if you try hard, you will find alternative room for your supplies (I am so good at procrastinating for a clear out!) I remember the canvas pic from when I visited, I hope that's a keeper! Have a great week. Helen xx

  3. Good luck with the clearout so the new door can go in Julia. I know what you mean about being reluctant to part with stash. Especially if part of a larger sort out. Great picture on the wall! Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #3

  4. I've always loved that painting of the three of you. You are SO lucky to be able to leave your doors open. It's been far too hot to do that here. We are already bordering on 40 C during the heat of the day.

Quick question. When does stash get too old to be called stash? I'm sure I have some of it, too. whatever IT is. Sorry your desk is sulking, dear. It looks rather like it had a nice little ride.

  5. Isn't there a saying about old friends being gold and the rest being silver? Old stuff is gold and it has served you well so if you remember that it will never leave and you will become a hoarder. It's, ,sadly, the fate of so many of us crafters.
It's all sounding good at your house with all these renovations. Hope when the new door arrives there will be somewhere suitable to hang the family photo. In the meantime just enjoy the sunny weather that you have been having.
    Hugs, Neet 5 xx

  7. Before the move to Australia, I had to halve (well maybe more than that) my crafty stash. Many crafty friends benefitted as well as ebay customers. Amazing how people will but a job lot of envelopes or papers, stamps or punches. I try not to think that I used to have such and such...

    Happy WoYWW!

  8. Just keep thinking of how it will all look when it's finished Julia, don't think of the process. It will be worth it in the end and you'll get to sieve through the wheat from the chaff. Hope you had a delightful weekend??

  9. Bless you. As others have said it really will be all worth it in the end but I feel your pain at having to sort it all. Shall we all pop round for an ‘organise stash party’? You know like a painting party? Just think of the fun we’d all have (and the gin a few of them would drink).
    Hugs,
    Annie x

  10. It tickles me that your table is on wheels every time I see it. What a lovely painting of you three, it brought a smile to ,y face and distracted me from your desk.
Have a lovely week Julia. I’m back up and running at home now after six lovely days at our caravan. Can you put the brakes on June though please it’s whizzing by.

  11. Having a table on wheels must have been a god send for you. I know how problematic it can be shifting stuff them when we altered the space where I keep mine but sorting stuff is good as I found all kinds of things that I had completely forgotten about and which has given me good excuses to buy new stash so that I can use the old stuff on them.........good excuse or what! Have a lovely woyww. Hugs, Angela x14x

  12. Must confess Julia there is a definite advantage in having a wheelie desk, esp if it has a sturdy backing board like that to boot! I quite understand your deep attachment to crafty goodies.
However to be honest my place is a tip in crafty area and it badly needs cleaning out but my motivation is lacking because I always seem to need yet another card!
Just when you think time is there, gulp it’s gone as you’ve forgotten something or someone! Love your photo in background guess it will need yet another spot when the door magically appears in the hands of Mr Dunnit!
Forgot to link up as mine was published hours ago, was at dentist at the time.. done till next filling in July.
Thanks for Sharing, God bless and keep you safe, and all those you love, hugs Shaz in Oz.x

  14. Morning Julia, I had to smile at you having wheels on your table, and wonder how you manage - the first time I worked at my (wheel-less) table on the new wood floor I leaned against it and it went skidding across the room and the chair on wheels I was sitting on somehow spun in a different direction and I went flying! Hubby has now fixed the table to the floor! I don't envy you the sorting out - it's so hard getting started isn't it but you will feel great once it's done.
Hope you have a great week and thank you so much for the ATC - can't beat a bit of happy mail!

  15. We’re back in decluttering mode too Julia and aiming to give away as much as possible! Norrie is about to depart to our daughter’s with two large sacks of wood offcuts for her trendy firepit. It’s raining so after a Zoom meeting, I shall sew!

  16. Good morning Julia, happy WOYWW! My tip is hide your stash under the bed or in wardrobe. If both places are already full, I am sure you can find space somewhere. Only get rid of stuff you don’t want to use and wonder why you bought in the first place x Angela #18

  17. Your desk looks a bit forlorn stuck there in the dark, it’s had too much fun being out in the full sunshine and it doesn’t want to go back! I’m sure once you start sorting, you’ll find stuff to repurpose or Chuck. I liked Neet’s comment about Old is Gold!

  19. Hi Julia, I'm definitely enjoying the sunshine ... at the expense of crafting, but then again, how often do we get this glorious weather! I must be one of the few that can be quite ruthless when it comes to a clear out. I've not yet got fond memories of any crafty stash, so can quite easily bin it/sell it or donate it. I know I have succumbed to getting too much stuff, but once my room is decorated, what goes back in it will be a different story. Looking forward to seeing your finished room. Have a great week, Heather xx #28

  20. Julia, LOVING all that natural light! I am not a big fan of dark rooms! I'm an outdoorsy girl at heart, so all the natural sunlight I can get, I WILL TAKE! I love that you had some visitors! I have felt so bad for you guys across the pond with this whole COVID thing! You've had it worse than we have! So I am sure you relished in the moment! I'm impressed that you were able to stack up crafting and move that table!!!! First off, I would never be able to stack ANYTHING on top of my workspace and second, I would NEVER be able to move that blasted thing!! Something to be said for good ole wheels! LOLOL I will pray for your "clear out" activity! I hate doing any of that! LOLOL Blessings for the rest of your week and lots more sunshine! :) Felicia #26

  21. Let's hope, Julia, that your sorting out finds you things that you've forgotten about, but which delight you.
I hope you're through your decorating blues soon
    Take care and happy WOYWW

  22. hopefully you can figure out what is there that you really love enough to keep and the sorting is not too traumatic Julia. ( we our family is having a yard sale next month to help our son clear out some of the boxed breeding the the barn, and I have been debating going through my stuff to add to his pile of assorted stuff to attract more buyers kind of a thing, and I know how hard it is to let go of things. (( HUGS )) hopefully having door there will be one of those why didn't we do this sooner things when its done :) ~Stacy #29

  23. Hi Julia! Quite the dilemma! I hate throwing anything out just because I haven't used it in a year, or 2, or 3, because in year 4 it will be just what I'm looking for! I got the stamp I used on my new journal page from a grab bag from Viva Las Vegas Stamps, probably 5 years or so ago. Never used it until this week, when it was the perfect choice! It will be so nice, however to have a nice craft room back. I wish we had big doors to open to let the summer in! We do have a nice porch, but it's not quite the same. Have a great week, Lindart #30
PS-My email has changed to Lindart@bell.net, I'm not getting your posts anymore

  24. It is hard to stay motivated when the weather is nice and sunny. We're enjoying some heat here too but too hot to be outdoors so off to the Command Center to do some creating! I've been missing for awhile but I'm back! LOL Dorlene #31

  25. Hi, Julia!

It all counts as stash, no matter how old it is!
Never know when you go to get something and realize it went in the great purge!

    Happy Wednesday

  26. Hi Julia, Hope your week with friends and family was a good one in your sunshine. I love sorting and organising to the point I can't start a project unless eveything is back in its place and start again LOL... See you next week - Cheers Maursxxx #34
