I am utterly cross about my desk, and to punish it, there’s no photograph. I haven’t done anything at it, except address a few envelopes and reach across it to steady the piles. Doldrums, I think. It’ll pass.
Ranunculus. On of my favourite ever flowers. Probably because it sounds so ridonculous. Also, do you know how much snails and slugs LOVE them?!
Meanwhile, I’ve dug, weeded and planted my tiny garden. I was beginning to despair that there was going to be any dry enough weather to actually get all the bedding plants out of their pots. I’ve also painted 4 of 5 fences. Remember creosote? Stinky but oh so effective. Found a big drum of it in one of the sheds where Mr Dunnit works. Useful. One last fence to go, and I’m not doing it again for a couple years. Seriously, time me if you like.
So please forgive my doldrums, inspire me with shots of what you’re up to, it will give me a boost. Or a conscience.
Also, can I put in a housekeeping note here please? If you didn’t see a comment from me last week, it’s because I couldn’t get my comment to stick. I cleared caches, turned off and turned on, I re-typed several, several times. I just don’t know why and I apologise. I expect that next time a child visits me and I ask for help, it will be made obvious, I’m sure. And they will try to hide their eye rolling and I will be forced to remind them that I used to be their teacher and it will be fine. Or I’ll get the noody baby photos out. Whichever.
It's been so nice to see some sunshine - sounds like you've been busy with the paint (well creosote) and plants - so that's craft in a way. Your desk will forgive you! I hope you have better luck commenting this week.
ReplyDeleteAh lovely blooms and yes, lovely weather, if only temporarily warm and dry. I set aside my grand tidy for time in the garden too! And my goodness it is therapeutic. Have a wonderful day, ignoring the vagaries of t’internet and Happy Woyww!
ReplyDeleteMary Anne
What beauties you have for us this morning Julia. Just the thing to brighten the morning along with the sunshine. Such a rarity for us to have so many days of it why not enjoy it whilst we can. Now, yesterday i sat in the sunshine cutting some figures out. Guess who fell foul of the click and buy button?
ReplyDeleteHugs, Neet xx 4
You are NOT alone, Julia. I couldn't leave comments on several blogs for several days. I've been unable to access blogger blogs, but can leave comments on WordPress and TypePad blogs. I think it's a Blogger conspiracy.
ReplyDeleteThose flowering plants are beautiful.
How beautiful are those Ranunculus a real treat for the garden and us all on what looks like another beautiful day, we have to make the most of that big shiny thing in the sky in the UK desks are always waiting indoors.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the sunshine Julia and happy WoywW, sorry i've been awol for a while. Tracey #5 x
Hi Julia, Beautiful flowers. Hope the slugs don't eat them.
ReplyDeleteYour sure have been busy. I remember creosote, as I use to help at a pony stud and every year was asked to paint the stable yard fencing. It was always hot weather, so I got so hot in the overalls and goggles I was told I had to wear to protect myself.
Hope you have a happy WOYWW
Sue
Its lovely to see the sun and they are lovely Ranunculus , its always nice to see them. I know how life can get in the way as I keep finding out,
ReplyDeleteTake cre and stay safe,

Oh - I remember creosote! From our first house in the late 70s...
ReplyDeleteHere in Oz, yesterday was the first day of Winter...
Doesn’t the weather affect our moods? It’s been glorious here too over the weekend and we’ve made the best of it. No, we’ve not been creosoting our fences... but I do love the smell of it. Our garden has had a tidy up and we’ve found we have some special visitors...more about them on Friday 😀 Might see you soon.
ReplyDeleteHugs,

Seems a lot of us are having problems with the commenting thing. I’ve had it for weeks and before post a comment im copying it so that I don’t have to retype it all again if it crashes.
ReplyDeleteNow on the desk front don’t be worrying Mrs D, now is the time to be outside enjoying nature and those pretty plants, of which I have a pinky peach one in my garden.
Thankfully for me I’ll have a new prompt on Saturday when we have our monthly zoom textile meeting. Otherwise there would be nothing done here either, as I’ve lost all incentive now.
Relax Julia, the desk can wait

Hi Julia, so agree with you, ranunculas is such a satisfying work, and the flowers pack a mighty big punch too.
ReplyDeleteI did better in the commenting dept last week but its not unusual to hit glitches on mobile phone like now. As you say very frustrating, even more so when younger generation can sort so easily. Did have chuckle at your post, and loved your loopy one before too.
It's quite amazing I'm here twoo weeks in a row. Glad actually, very. Bit of routine is simply great.
Thanks for sharing, you're so entitled not to share a desk this week. I do recall creosote. Though don't think I actually used it!
May God bless and keep you and all whom you love safe and well.

Hi Julia, I had prepared my post and was waiting all morning for #626 to pop up - then lo and behold I had to go out... Well when I got home this evening I checked my post and noticed I had typed WPYWW - Whats Playing Workdesk Wednesday LOL!! Anyhoo - managed to get on at #12 - if it sticks.
ReplyDeleteI caught your looping post so I think you did well for the week fence painting etc aside... Hope you have a fabulous week ahead. Stay safe & well - Cheers Maurs xxx
I think a few people seem to have had problems with commenting on some blogs over the last couple of weeks Julia. It is lovely to see summer actually turning up. Just a few feet of grass to mow now it seems like lol. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #14 (I had a lie in for the holidays).
ReplyDeleteA change is as good as a rest and we need to get out there while the weather is nice. The desk will still be there when you get back and the sun has gone out again Lol! Enjoy the gardening and have a lovely woyww, Angel a x13x
ReplyDeleteYour ranuncululuseses are looking very pretty indeed, I didn’t know they were slug crack though! Bet your garden is looking pretty now. Re commenting, I don’t know if you’ve tried this already but go to Settings on your iPad, find your browser and click on it, scroll down to Cross Site Tracking and turn it off. That worked for me a while back.
ReplyDeleteRe catching up, would love to but can’t tomorrow, am doing Covid Training down the RNLI shop so I can start doing shifts again. Friday’s looking free though!
Hugs LLJ 3 xx
Good morning Julia, happy WOYWW. I have been in the doldrums myself, must have been in a different area because I didn’t see you there 🤣. Beautiful flowers, creosote not so much! Lovely as it is to see the sunshine, there is a sharp wind that nobody seems to feel , but me. Ah well!
ReplyDeleteMorning Julia, just like you I've been spending time in the garden - it's been too lovely not to! Glad I'm not the only one whose been having problems commenting on posts lately - it seems so random and not always the same blogs.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week, looks like the weather is here to stay for a while, so happy gardening,
Diana xx #18
yes! Summer is coming! And my Ranunculus are growing, even ones from years back are trying their best! Creosote, my dad always used that but I though it became extinct waaaaaaaaaaaay back and no longer allowed. But if you've got it, use it, where else is it going to go? Glad you've got your plants in, I'm still ding bits of that as I have someone elses garden to feed and fish to water the a few weeks and a tiny dog who is now trying to sit on my lap top! He's smaller that Mr Jinx! I have spare ATC's (not photograph yet) I'd love to send you one if its not too late (my middle name) Stay safe, keep crafting!Happy WOYWW!? ((Lyn))#19
ReplyDeleteSorry Julia my first address at 20 above didn’t work. Could you delete it please? Sorry everyone for messing up the numbering
ReplyDeleteLynnecrafts x
Hi Julia, so glad of the weather- I still have things to put out and I don't think they are happy that they are still waiting!!!
ReplyDeleteI wait for my grandchildren to help re the technology stuff, they are kind to me but can see them giggling at grandma lol. Hope you get the urge to craft back soon. Take care Anne x 22
Will come as no surprise that I loathe this weather ... strong word, that, but nothing else fits really. But I have enjoyed a fair few chilly, damp, rainy days so hope all you sunny summer lovers enjoy your turn! Doldrums ... they stink. Yes, they pass but simply rotten when they take hold. As for getting comments to stick ... I despair! There are a couple of blogs on which I leave a comment & it appears but then I get "mail-delivery failure" (or words to that effect) emails - really have no idea what is going on. The threat of baby photos is always good! Much love my dearest, from Debbie #23 xXx
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW. This rainy day is a relief sort-of. Getting on with stuff in my craft room and housework. Ali x #25
ReplyDeleteWishing you a great day, and I can almost "ditto" your post. Love your beautiful flowers. This past year I have always felt quite inadequate by not visiting but I think it was all my mental state of some depression. And with the beautiful weather here too I'm much more energized but being outside this house makes me so much happier. "Confinement" I'm blaming. Remodel is no where near done and "waiting" is not my happy place. But my tone is so many have it much worse.. and I need to find my "old self! " Wishing you happy days and if you get your posting figured out maybe I can get my photos posted in the easy manner I use to have also. Enjoy Sunshine and Nature, I find peace that way.
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Miss Julia.
ReplyDeleteOoo.... dry weather? What's it like? We've had rain for two solid days. We did get a break of about 3 days prior from the last one but not dry enough to get plants in the garden. My poor seedlings are going to think the greenhouse is their permanent home! I love rons... they are so pretty and firm. perfect cut flowers. Eww on the creosote. There is a fence post company we drive by about once a week. I can always tell when they're coating a new batch of posts. Yuck!
Sprinkling creative fairy dust in hops you become inspired.
Hugs & Creative Blessings! Kelly #26
How lovely to see some flowers and to have nice weather. Something was up with blogger last week, Google were definitely tweaking something, but it all seems normal now. I love how they tell you nothing though, just let you get frustrated thinking it's you, but it's not you, it's them lol. Elle #27, EOTC
ReplyDeleteI am amazed by the sheer size of those flowers Julia, I have seen some here and the ones I seen were just tiny little things. :) I love that. Hope your fence paint lasts a long long time too. ~Stacy #28
ReplyDeleteLove your flowers and the fun comment underneath them, Julia! Haha! The name does rather roll off one's tongue, doesn't it. We all get desk doldrums once in a while. My particular case of it has gone on for months - only to be broken for making the occasional essential family birthday card. Crochet rules Chez Shosh at the moment! Sorry to hear about your computer woes but your solution made me laugh as well. Love your particular brand of revenge for the eye-rolling.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your visit and for your birthday greetings. I'm definitely still at an age when presents can be pretty, and useless too!! However, this year's are certainly useful. Thank you for your good wishes for my appointment tomorrow.
Happy WOYWW,
Shoshi #11
Your ranunculus flowers are gorgeous. Glad you’ve been able to do some gardening.
ReplyDeleteCreosote is one of those tarry smells I love, like old-fashioned road rollers and hot tar.
(Showing my age!)
I wonder if all scarecrows start out looking quite smart, and just go downhill?
I hope your crafty mojo returns to your satisfaction
Take care and happy WOYWW

Another late arrival I’m afraid! Not much crafting going on here but the Ranunculus (Ranunculi?) are very pretty indeed. Swap you one Peony bloom....
ReplyDeleteThird time’s a charm, hopefully this one will work, Google has not been my friend today😟 I love your flowers, I thought they were peonies at first. I love Peonies, but not the ants! Elf is my favourite Christmas movie, so I do know the excitement you are feeling about summer! So much nicer to be in the garden than inside. Just consider your garden as your canvas! Have a great week! Lindart #30
ReplyDeleteJulia, I TOTALLY feel ya on the "summer is coming!" It's been here, but I still can't stand being inside now that we can go out and enjoy those gorgeous rays! I really believe that you have been extremely busy from the sounds of it despite no crafting! It's just gardening crafting! LOLOL I am so jealous! I don't have a yard anymore and I so wish I could do the same! Enjoy a bit of digging for me!! And....NOTHING ever surprises me when it comes to computer glitches! I just roll the old eyes and shut her down!! It gripes, but there you go! If at first you don't succeed, try, try again! :) Thanks for stopping by my desk as always and I agree....real mail IS THE BEST!! ATC's in the mail this week, I promise! Blessings to you Julia, Felicia #23
ReplyDeleteI had the result of my biopsy this morning, Julia, and it is cancer. Further details on my blog.
