What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 619

Again this week, I’m starting with the weather. What’s going on?! Wake up to snow and then sit in the garden with a cuppa after lunch? Huh?
Never mind. It won’t distract you at all from this lot....

Seriously it’s balancing on stuff that’s balancing on stuff. I’m sending a parcel to my American Sissy and I always throw in a few thank you cards because she likes to use them. Well, turns out I don’t have many ready, so thought I’d spend an hour just making some up. Again with the ephemera, but this time, add in the box of stickers (so old I’m using Basic Grey sticker sheets). Then add the glitter glue and pearls (I think the Nuvo Drops bottle I was actually looking for is already buried on the desk. Slight shame, to be honest. Then I had to rush outside and get the washing in, and rush back out to bring in the plants that you can just see on the floor. On a couple of trays, apparently hardening off, but there’s a limit - I don’t want them to be hailed or snowed on! I managed about four cards. Not many considering it’s all a bit peel and stick, but really, I blame the weather!
Here’s a couple of pics for Shoshi, interested to see the inside of my sexy black and white pencil case thingy.

The elastic loops are encouraged to hold 2 pens each, 3 in the case of my slimline Staedtlers. There are 3 pages with loops each side and the inside front and back have loops too. Works for me! It’s by Arteza.
Some more news....if you’re a BT internet customer, unless you use your mobile phone, you’ve had problems accessing this old blog. Well, I’ve phoned, emailed and Facebook messaged them a LOT in the last few weeks. Fed up of Ludgershall, me. It seems, she says tentatively, that things have been adjusted and you may well be able to access this blog like you would any other. Please try and let me know! If not, Di Wray commented this:
“ Hi Julia! I was one person who had trouble getting to your blog and eventually we went into our online BT account and turned off 'web protect' - the fancy addition they imposed on BT users a while ago to keep us more secure. Goodness know why it picked out your blog as unsafe - which casts doubt on the efficacy (snuck a COVID vaccine expression in there see!) of the change. Unless it doesn't like people who like cake? That would be all of us then! Snigger. Di x”
Of course, adjusting your settings just to read this may be a step too far, and I would understand. But.....I might know where you live, so do consider what you’re not being here would mean to me.

Ok, housekeeping finished. Over to you. Show and tell, encourage and enable. As we seem set to start the gentle emerging from lockdown, please take care and continue to be cautious, remember, your workspace is a safe place. Well, mine’s a bit of a hazard, but you get what I mean.....

  1. The weather is crazy this week. Hope your plants survive. Loving the look inside your pencil case - seriously impressive! I hope you have sorted the access issue for BT customers!!

  2. Lovely case. So nice to see the insides. And oh my yes, the weird weather is ... unsettling. I don’t know how to dress except for layers, always layers. Do you love the nuvo drops? I’ve seen them used and praised a LOT but I still have bottles of pearl drops and stickles so never bothered. And really, unsafe? A crafting blog? Go figure. Nice to have an answer at least, but how do you solve that problem? Glad I’m not affected lol!
Happy sunny day, I hope. Meeting a friend in the garden of a knit and natter.

  3. My BT problem with your blog was very intermittent Julia. I ended up taking the s out of the https and accessing it that way. Haven't had any problems recently. The weekend was certainly interesting as far as the weather went! Hope your plants are OK. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #7

  4. Yep peculiar weather. Nope, nmo problems with your blog and we are BT internet. I've had a parcel building up in the window of the dining room for ages, must get it off, you have reminded me.
Never used Nuvo drops, am so out of touch now I don't dem at shows - not that I could during lockdown if I still did.
Going back to bed. It's chilly.
    Hugs, Neet xx

  5. You are not the only one with weird weather ours in Spain is the same. So much so my plants are getting confused. My UK friend is with BT and has difficulty access the blogs. Says it's unsafe. Love the pencil case I use a plastic ice cream container. Does the job. Ani #1

  6. Literary Listography? What strange things you keep on your desk! I am guilty of zooming in! I spy some Woodware stamps as well - have you been shopping again 🤣. I ordered some stamps back in December and was still waiting for one to arrive so asked for a refund. A day after that I ordered some different stamps - guess which order they refunded me for 🙈. I have two of those cases, one for colouring pencils and one for watercolour pencils. I need a third one for my markers. Just sent you an email with a screenshot , removing cross site tracking worked for me with the BT problem. Happy WOYWW and have a great week Angela #9

  7. Oh yes, this is crazy weather time. I'm still getting out v early and tbh finding that this is often the most settled time of day!! The OH and I decided on a crafty G&T in the sunny garden about 4 pm yesterday in celebration of his haircut (I take my pleasures where I can these days) and a few hours graft in the garden but by the time we walked outside again the glorious sunshine had disappeared to be replaced by arctic conditions. We stuck it out a while (what are layers for?) vainly hoping the huge black cloud over the sun would dissipate before giving up, putting the blankets back on the plants and shutting up shop for the night. It was beautiful again about 7. Mind you, being British you would think this would come as no surprise, but the snow on Monday surprised even me. Have a good week, love n hugs Cindy

  8. I’m with you on the weather thing. The suns shining and then....it’s snowing again!! I’m sure the poor little plants don’t know what’s going on.
I must remember to tell that much older sister of mine about your hopefully more accessible blog....I’ve been linking her for weeks so she can keep in touch.
    Hugs,

  9. Good morning Julia
I’m apart apologising in advance for the number of phots. There’s not a lot of reading though so I think I’ll get away with it.
I’ve got some folk following the re-siting of the pond hence the pics. Snow stopped play on Saturday when a whooping four inches of the stuff thumped down on our valley. All gone the day after.
That BT thing is weird, I’m no even with them and had a few problems like that and it still rears it’s head now and again.
    Have a good week

  10. Just to say I'm with BT internet and have had no such problems with access to your site. I'm using my PC in the main, sometimes my tablet rarely my phone, all to do with size. No idea if we have web protect or not? One thing we do differently here is use our own router and not the BT hub thingy. Hubby is a computer engineer so doesn't like to use their hub as we have our own network in the house. Anyway, like I said no problems here. Hope you locate your Nuvo Drops, they sound cool, I'm so out of it these days, I'm still using Perfect Pearls and last pages used a piece of remaining Basic Grey Paper too. BJ#20

  11. Hi Julia, I'm more surprised at people's surprise at the weather as I actually think it's quite normal for the time of the year. April can do almost anything, it's well known for showers and because the weather is still cold it can include snow but I also think that in the last few years it's maybe not happened. It's a bit like where babies go from milk to solids and there's a bit of each in the middle if you get what I mean. Your sister sure has a lovely surprise coming. Have a lovely and creative woyww. Hugs, Angela x17x

  12. So many smiles given there, thank you! Di's comments made me chuckle as I managed to insert efficacy into a sentence the other day too. I hope it's not cake that's the issue. I'm wondering if my Promarkers would be too fat for the loops on your pencil case? Not suggesting I put my pens in your case obvs. You might have answered before... looking to upgrade my brain if you know of anywhere? Stay safe and keep smiling, Lisa-Jane #8

  13. They do coloured StazOn? Why haven't I got coloured StazOnn?! Yes, we have bedding plants in the living room, that go out when the sun shines and then are rushed in as it hails! I need your black sexy pencil case or one like it! No, I got in here ok, there is one that asks for proof of who I am, and what am I trying to do... I answer, .trying to make a comment' and that seems to work. Love the sticker card! Stay safe! Happy WOYWW ((Lyn))#21

  14. Top tip re the comments thanks IT guru Di will keep this in mind if i get issues. Glad Soshi asked to see inside your pen holder, wow so organised and love the phrase that two pens are encouraged into each loop. As to the weather, yep, most odd and like you i also keep bringing the sweetpeas and veg seedlings back under cover!!

  15. Happy WOYWW. I had a similar situation on my crafty table on Saturday morning when I finally packed up the owl ATC and did a few extras for the package. A lot of piles for what was really a small project. The weather in Pembrokeshire has been mostly calm sunshine. We did have a brief shower of tiny snowflakes for about 30 minutes. Ali x. #20

  16. Helllooooo!

Sadly the weather is of no surprise to me at all - I recall far too many Easters where we've had snow or hail, no matter when they are in the month. One of the big culprits this year is the sheer number of volcanic eruptions going on around the planet (at one point there were 52 active volcanoes worldwide), and La Soufriere in St Vincent has just been the most explosive, sending ash 6 miles up. That of course will affect weather patterns.

That's all from Geology today.... LOL

  17. HI Julia, just popping in to catch up as I haven't had time to join in for so long - unavoidable stuff getting in the way at the moment and for some reason Wednesdays are particularly tricksy. I'll have a snoop around anyway later and see what I've been missing! Number One Son, who I haven't seen since April 2019, is due to arrive on Friday and stay for a couple of weeks, so not sure if I'll be able to join in WOYWW while he's here - but I'll look forward to a proper catch-up with everyone soon.
Blimey, I'm sure I still have a BG sticker sheet like that lurking in my drawers, and I also have similar tray of plants going in and out like a fiddler's elbow in this unpredictable weather we're having. Lovely idea to send some cards for your sis to use, I might do that as well - use up some of my stash mountain :)
Have a great week, see you soon. Annie C

  18. I’m glad that your BT issues are now (hopefully) solved! That pen case is rather fab and perfect for cramming in all your various pens and pencils etc. Artefacts fo good stuff, not cheap but I’ve always bought in a sale. It’s glorious here this morning, have got more fence painting to do but think we may have to factor in a beach walk! And Friday would be marvellous, same time, same place, I’m the one wearing sunglasses and a carnation but not telling where.....

  19. I'm still a big fan of Basic Grey - I think they were ahead of their time, maybe that's why they went out of business? Apparently, they still make fabric but I used to adore their papers. I certainly like those stickers. Don't even get me started on the weather - I had to rescue my plants from the potting shed - too hot during the day, too cold at night! Some of them didn't make it :( but hopefully, they'll bring new shoots. Happy Wednesday, Julia! xx zsuzsa #24

  21. Hi Julia, what a lovely package for your sister!
We have windowsill tomatoes at the moment. I bought a pencil case like that off Amazon. They’re very useful. I took a couple of leaves out and keep my watercolours in the bottom, very handy.
I’m not with BT, but fixed my problems with commenting by switching off cross site tracking.
    Take care, and happy WOYWW

  23. I am really impressed with the sorting of coloured pens into those zip folders. Once they are in the folder I imagine they are easy to find and easy to store. Hope you got to save your plants while the weather sorts itself out! Well done on making 4 cards, achieving anything on somedays is good. Have a great week.

  24. Oh Miss Julia, you do bring a smile. :-)
I loved the note that person sent you about the issue. She sounds quite fun and would fit in well with the rest of us.
Love the pencil case. Sadly, my hands would not let me handle it. The thing would stay open on my desk all the time... you know, like most everything else LOL Creative Blessings! Kelly #28

  25. Here in Aus we are in Autumn so the weather is getting chillier. We had to go out and nbuy some fan heaters this week!

  26. Hi Julia, yep our weather is wonky too. soon its supposed to be above average temperatures but, so far its average and chilly in the mornings. all of my pencil cases have that similar style on the insides I love that so far, its kept the pencil leads from breaking even if I haul them around so far so good. :) and I grinned to see all the upside down stamps ( that's how I leave my dirty ones so, I know not to set something on them ) and that made me assume yours were the same. 4 cards in one go is a lot, I am sure she will appreciate them. ~Stacy #29

  27. Hi Julia! So happy to hear that you guys are starting to open up! Awesome! We are still in lockdown here, 392 days for me just going out for essentials, having groceries delivered. No vaccine yet. I love a messy desk! So busy, lots of lovely projects! We have had a lovely spring so far, but in the back of our minds is - it still could snow! Your pencil case is amazing! Have a great week, Lindart #30

  30. Hi Julia, I've been Awol for a few weeks, and will be for another couple of weeks! Thought I'd better check in and catch up on your posts. Glad to see lots of lovely desks- I've missed joining in! I agree totally with how freaky the weather has been! Have a lovely week, and I'll be back soon! Take care, Heather xx

  32. Hi Julia,
I seem to remember ages ago, Lunch Lady Jan asking to be linked up cos she couldn’t access your site, and ended up being a BT internet thing, seems your BT is like Telstra and not the best in customer service.
One could alter one’s own settings to hide locations, mine are, I often chuckle at where it says I am, I left Telstra a decade and more ago but family still with them.
Desks, I must confess yours always delights me, it’s a WIP like mine, various tangents in a variety of different ways! I’m sorry I’m bad at commenting,
I’m trying to be better, but brevity is not in my makeup, need to practice one liners more! Love your pens storage, mine is a roll up meant as sewing thread one, Semco brand, but works a treat for pens.
Thanks for Sharing, God bless and keep you safe, and all those you love, hugs Shaz in Oz.x

  33. A nice busy desk as always, Julia. Thanks for featuring the pencil case! I have to confess to having a bit of a fetish for bags and cases like this - I had a good friend (sadly now dead from cancer a few years ago) who teased me endlessly about my "baggies"! Your splendid pencil case looks a bit like the one I bought when I got my Tombow brush markers https://shoshiplatypus.com/woyww-557-pens/
It's pretty big and heavy and if I want to work downstairs, I can take out the "pages" I want which is useful.

Thank you for your visit and for your commiserations re my migraine. Pretty scary at the time because the last time I fainted was when I was going down with sepsis as a result of the serious post-operative bacterial infection I had which put me back in hospital for nearly 3 weeks... I wondered if history was repeating itself and I was going to be seriously ill again! However, all was well and by the next day I was fully recovered. I am going to eat some dark chocolate again once I manage to get some, just to check it out - I've never had problems with chocolate before and hope I haven't started, because although I rarely eat it these days, I would still like to be able to indulge once in a while for a treat!

You are right about my hubby. He is the most unobservant mortal on this earth! He did ask me what I was doing once, when I was still making anonymous squares, and I said, "oh, just some crochet stuff" and he made no further comment!!

Thank you so much about the crochet hooks! I'd really love them. Please thank your sister, and also tell her she doesn't know what she's missing - once you master it, it is so much fun and very relaxing! I will email you with my address. If you would like anything for them, please let me know.

    Happy belated WOYWW,
    Shoshi #18
