What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 616

I’ve taken the photograph from a different angle this week, and in bright broad daylight on Tuesday afternoon. It looks just the same this morning, only the desk is pushed against the window out of the way. Hurrah for wheels!
Almost out of shot at the front is a small and uneven pile of cards and ATCS that I’ve made, in the central ‘work zone’ is a card I’d finished colouring and had applied lots of dots of Glossy accents to, so that was drying. The bucket of pens is in the way unless I’m colouring, so that will be the first tidy up today. There’s a lot of stamps and stencils standing upright at this near end, I seem to have really splurged on Francoise’s new designs. The finished card on top of that pile is a paper pieced floral from one set. Marvellous for using scraps and for when you’re in the mood for some fussy cutting. The angles of other stuff really show the amount of push back I’ve had to employ to make some room, but it’s OK, it worked for yesterday. I sold some of Mary’s stamps on eBay last weekend and as I always do, when I packaged them, I included a thank you message in a card. The recipient messaged me through eBay to say how happy she was to get it and we got talking and now we’re swapping ATCs! Karen is at the start of her obsession, she started card making in time for Christmas. You remember those early days don’t you, when you didn’t realise that storage was going to be your next hobby. Happy days.
Look, I read every single blog on the list last week, but I failed to comment on most of them. I’m very sorry. I knew I was going to be late visiting last week and in the event, I wasn’t able to do so until Friday afternoon. Like a lot of Deskers, I’d logged in to attend Shaz’s funeral in the morning, and to be honest, I just wasn’t in the mood to comment.  It was a perfect service; wonderful photos, music and words. Doug’s attention to the details and the bits that would mean something to Shaz was really evident and you could tell there was love swirling around to help with the loss. I’ve had a word with myself, on behalf of Shaz and have got over myself. Link up, expose those desks, enable my pocket money, and in constant memory of Shaz, seize the day!

  1. Good to see your desk from a different angle - it certainly sounds like the wheels were a great idea! Oh those early days of stamp buying obsession (wonder when it stops.....) You're right about Friday, it was perfect but it did make me wish more than ever to reach out and give everyone a big HUG!

  2. Totally understandable that you weren't much in the mood for commenting last week Julia. I am looking forward to finally being able to catch up with the service when Doug gets a copy to upload. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #4

  3. Morning Julia. A pushed back desk is fun - now you have room in the room - if you see what I mean! Great colouring - and fun to make a new friend through selling Mary's stamps. You will soon have this new lass here on WOYWW. Well done.
    Take care. God bless.

  4. Enjoyed nosing!
I too visited this week but didn't comment too much - will do better this week...

  5. I thought the music was awesome on Friday and I've had one of the songs in my head for days even though I'd only heard it once before. You made me laugh with that storage comment - I admit it was an evil "bwahaha if only she knew what was coming" laugh. I've googled the stamps, wished I hadn't. I don't "do" stamps... I don't... no... lalala I'm not looking / listening! Onward, as Shaz would have demanded, Lisa-Jane #7

  6. Shaz’s funeral was perfect, a proper send off, I think we’d all like to be remembered that way! I think if Push Back was an Olympic Sport, you’d be a gold medalist, lol!

  7. Gosh loads of "push back", and if I'm not mistaken, considering the desk's location that could soon result in "push off" - hope not. It must get a bit precarious when wheeling your desk about - LOL.
Loving your Chameleon card, he's so cute. And yes the beginning of the crafty obsession, ah those were the days when I had a lowly little wheely set of drawers and crafted on the dining table back in 2005. I think I peaked in about 2013 though and don't seem to be much "enabled" these days, but still LOADS to work with. Trying to incorporate old stash in my scrapping, revisiting old dies and plodding along. BJ#9

  8. Hi Julia, coming to apologise for my absence and to call out “Present, Miss!” πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜†πŸ˜‚ I’ve been busy, after was sick last month, as early weeks of March I visitors.
Last wek I had also done my post last week and blogger ate my homework, simply no time or oomph to repeat it so saved up fir this week. Did post at weekend though.

I’m sorry I missed Shaz’ funeral, I saw link a day late and it wouldn’t link over was probably live only, it would have prob been awkward cos of time zone thingy anyway, even if could get my head around how to do it!!!

Yes been thinking and praying for Doug this week and Shaz’s loved ones. Doug wrote up beautifully on Shaz’s blog too.
I’m in piles here, today’s desk is not stared... to be honest it fell out of my head as just rewrote last weeks.❤️πŸ˜ƒπŸ₯°πŸ™ take care Julia and thanks for running this WOYWW an anchor in our lives, praying each day for you and family.
Thanks for Sharing, God bless and keep you safe, and all those you love, hugs Shaz in Oz.x

  9. There’s been a lot of pushing back at mine too this week but mine has been pushing back one bear to make the next...they take room to cut out at the least lol. I’m sure we will all feel better when we can get together and hug things out.
    Hugs virtually for now,

  10. It must be really beneficial to be able to push your desk into the light you get to see all those attentions to detail so much better in natural daylight and with your little ledge at the back to stop it from falling off it's a very well thought out piece of crafty kit.
I love the idea of sending a little thank you with your sales, yes I can remember when I started collecting stamps feel like I need an extension to house them all now.
Glad to be able to get here today Happy WoywW Julia.

  11. LOL! That lizard kills me! He's gorgeous. Where is HE from? And oh yes, fussy cutting - you know me - I find it very relaxing and can sit and fussy cut for ages. I have been contemplating my next 100 days project and it might involve fussy cutting on some way. Still mulling it over. Too many choices and I am not even to day 40 on the current one!
    {sigh}
Missed the funeral due to another school related Zoom that could not be rescheduled but did wonder if Doug, wearing his tech wizard hat, might have captured it and if it might be available as a replay? I must ask him.

    slept in so

  12. Shaz was indeed an enabler and I hope in my own way I am carrying on the tradition well according to my hubby I buy too much stuff so I guess I'm trying hard. I so miss the ATC swaps that I used to do with a dear friend. Her eye sight is so bad that she doesn't craft anymore, I met her through Craft Stamper magazine and we swapped all kinds of projects for many years. It was so refreshing to have a crafting friend. I missed the funeral as we were involved in work for my mother but I'm sure it might be available to see some other time. Take care and have a happy woyww, Angela x19x

  14. I was awake at 6 this morning and you hadn’t yet posted, so I thought “I wonder if I can get the number one spot?” It said I was the first, but I ended up 3rd! Then I went back to bed 🀣
Thankfully you have a strip at the back of your desk to stop things falling off! Love your lizard, I would love to know where he is from. I did a few lizard digital stamps a few years ago, but that fellow is more elegant surrounded by flowers.
A little thank you card is a lovely addition, one or two companies do that with their orders.
Have a great week and Happy WOYWW Angela #3

  15. That little Chameleon stamp is gorgeous. I must go and investigate Francoise's stamps, I haven't come across them before and you can never have too many stamps ha ha!
    Have a great week,

  16. Oh My, your desk might be piled high but to me it has some sence of order, unlike my chaos! I love that little beastie in front, I know what it is, but I can't think how to spell it. Oh yes (looking up) Chameleon!
Keep on Crafting Happy WOYWW ((Lyn))#21

  18. That chameleon made me smile and I love the colours you’ve chosen for him! How lovely that you’ve started swapping ATCs with the stamp buyer, do you think she could join WOYWW as well?
Had my jab yesterday and am completely fine, no problems as yet not even a particularly achy arm, hooray!

  19. Good morning, Miss Julia
Such a busy desk. I like the different angle
So sorry I missed the service. I think of Shaz often and know she watches over all of us.
I should get 'round to everyone this week. I'm looking forward to the quiet time. Creative Blessings! Kelly #29

  20. My desk has now pushed back onto the dining room table which is not a good idea! Trying to find the enthusiasm to finish a christmas quilt but distractions are many. Happy stamping.

  21. Hi Julia, What a lovely observation of Shaz's funeral, and the sentiment of Seize the Day, as Shaz would have. You certainly have a busy desk today, and how nice to have found a new friend! Yes, storage and organization will be her next hobby LOL! Have a great week, Lindart #30

  22. I love seeing the desk filled with light from the other angle Julia. and since the piles out of view are in a similar state here I just smile to see it. I did laugh at the organizing is the next stage of the obsession in this journey. ~Stacy #31

  23. Hi Julia, I wasn't able to attend the funeral but I read all Doug's posts and could feel the love for Shaz, Doug and the family swirling around too.

How nice that you have made contact with a starter crafter. I wonder how long before she finds that storage is the next big need in her life. I think I should qualify for a PhD in the subject pretty soon.

Have a great week. Hugs, Elizabeth (seizing the day) x #31

  24. Julia, that's about what my desk looks like this week! Funny thing is....if I had more room, like a bigger desk area, I am sure it would still look the same!!! LOLOL My ex-husband used to call me "the crammer!" LOL I always fought him on that moniker, but now....I'm rethinking that! LOLOL So sorry I wasn't able to make Shaz's memorial service, but I know that Dough knows we ALL were there in spirit even if we couldn't be there!! As far as you getting around to folks....WE ALL know exactly how you feel! Sometimes we can, sometimes we can't! No judgement here from this desker! LOLOL Blessings to you! Felicia #25

  25. It was good to hear that the funeral service for Shaz was beautiful. Of course you weren't in the mood to continue your comments.

I liked how you said, you pushed items up to make room for your current project...I do that all the time which makes for a full desk, but so many goodies. Have a great week. Dorlene #33

  26. Sorry I am late in commenting but had to delete 40 comments from someone who is obviously having a great time targeting me at the moment. Deleted 56 last night too. It really is a pity they have nothing better to do - it takes so much time messing about deleting them and today's were in between legit comments which made it difficult.
How lovely that Karen messaged you back when she got her parcel and how even better you are now swapping atc's with her. That is what I miss - swapping atc's. Used to do the for the crops and also for the trip to the Netherlands (it is BIG there). Now they seem to have gone out of fashion - we should try to campaign to bring the back. Marje Kemper has an atc group on FB if you are interested.
    Hugs, Neet 4 xx

  27. Ooh that's a different perspective! If mine was on wheels it would be a disaster every time I moved, there are so many boxes underneath there would be no benefit at all. Had to smile at your storage comment. Love that chameleon! Happy WOYWW, stay well, stay safe, love n hugs, Cindy #27

  28. The pushed back desk is such a crafter thing to do - too many ideas/deadlines and not enough time/will power to tidy between projects! I love your chameleon! Happy WOYWW. Take care and stay safe. With love & God Bless, Caro xxx (#17)

  29. Hi, Julia!

Sorry to be so late. I had an early doctor's appointment this morning. My shower even cut into our morning coffee time (hate that!)
Read part of your post to Mike this morning, the part about storage being the next hobby! He laughed and agreed whole heartedly!

    Stay safe and well.

    Happy Wednesday!

  34. Thanks for your visit. I am way behind, hopefully a visits this weekend. Had home computer issues, 2 days new router has helped. Then we were gone 2 days here/there. Now Iowa Women. in NCAA tournaments My washi tape holder was originally made for spools of thread I think someone made it It revolves like a lazy susan. Rainy cool here so ironing spring curtains. Your post made me laugh..Storage as a next hobby....(seems the only hobby for me) !! ATC's are one of my favorite. Happy you were able to go to Shaz's funeral. It means so much to family etc. And helps settle one's spirit. I missed 2/3 posts and it's as you say I couldn't find words to even comment so I omitted posting. We had over 6 funerals. 2 neighborhood brothers,2 husbands of classmates and a few towns people It was tragic and REAL funerals are not happening. Quick service and burial. SAD SAD SAD. Enjoy the weekend.
