What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 614

I’m not exactly out and about this morning, but I am going to be out. So bear with me, I shall be slower than normal, and it usually takes me three days!
So my desk is a daytime shot from Tuesday afternoon. It was an afternoon of little things. I had a couple of quotes to type out, some emails to answer. Then I put some washing on. Then I had to look up how to remove a coffee stain from a rug. There’s a story there. It’s title is CLUMSY. Now I need to buy white vinegar, so the stain will have dried before I can start on it. Then I made a tray of brownies for today. While they were in the oven, I realised that I haven’t sat at my desk for three whole days. Argh. And, I haven’t got a Mother’s Day card sorted. So I got my colours out and gave myself 28 minutes at 180 degrees.
Its not a Mother’s Day card. I found the image in the box of colours, so I coloured it. It is destined for a friend who brings the joys of spring to my screen everyday on Instagram, and I love her for reminding us all to keep looking forward. It’s a Clarity stamp, one of a set of three; outline, solid and reverse. I think it’s the only one I own, I don’t use it often but had to have it!
Then I didn’t clear up. Surprise! I wonder if you’d all be kind enough to to share your Mother’s Day cards if you have made one or more. It’s not the copying need, it’s the motivation need. The longer I leave it, the more I think I can manage the deadline (and I can’t) and the more I fear I shall end up making it on Sunday morning, which will not be a triumph of a card believe me.
Meanwhile, share your busy desks, it’s a joy to visit.

  2. Lovely card! While I get to celebrate TWO Mother’s Days,, one this week and one on American Mothers Day, I don’t have to make myself a card and my Mom is in the USA. Sorry, no card from me then. But hope yours is received with joy this year. It’ll be lovely when we can hand deliver them again, won’t it?
    Happy WOYWW.

  3. Love that stamp set Julia - unsurprisingly. Hope you get the stain out of the rug. I did manage to make a Mother's Day card yesterday and post it off but can't show it yet for obvious reasons (could PM you a photo via FB). Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #4

  5. Beautiful card and what a wonderful sentiment - perfect for your inspiring friend. I hear ya with the rug - there's a story from me there too about clumsiness in general but I'm not quite ready to tell it. My mother and I are estranged so no inspiration from me I'm afraid but you have reminded me that I need to make a certain young lady's birthday card very soon! As always, stay safe and keep smiling, Lisa-Jane #8

  7. Sorry cannot help with the Mother's Day card Julia, too old to need to make one sadly.
Can you not get the coffee stain out with some bicarb mixed to a paste with a little water? I am sure I have done that before now with such a stain.
Have a nice day out and about.
    Hugs, Neet 4 xx

  8. Love your card. Sorry there’s no Mother’s Day cards at mine...no mum now for 23 years. There has been plenty of going on to share with you though πŸ˜€

  9. Good morning Julia. What a lovely thing to do for your Instagram chum. It’ll be a nice surprise.
No handmade cards here sorry to say because I’m supporting my local card shop who can’t open until 12th April.
We are allowed to collect at the door, so I’ve arranged to go this morning and he will bring me a selection to the door
along with a birthday card for my nephew.
What gets my pip is I could go across the road and get the cards in B&M with no trouble. - rant over.
Hope you get the carpet sorted and enjoy your Mother’s Day
    Lynn xx

  10. That's a very nice thought Julia and a nice little find in your pen box it was fate that it was left there for you to find. I too have been short on time this week, not much sit down at desk time so like you it will be a put things together morning before off to do care duties later.
Glad to see you too time out for some light refreshment at your desk, hope you can deal with that pesky coffee stain. Happy WoywW Tracey #15 x

  11. That's a lovely card Julia - so happy and optimistic! I'm sure you'll come up with a great idea for Mother's Day as well! Good luck with the stain! We have countless of them scattered around the house - the previous owners had this brilliant idea (amongst many others) to put down cream coloured carpets and we never got around to changing them. I find the 1001 carper cleaner works really well if no luck with the vinegar. Have a lovely week xx zsuzsa ??

  12. Happy WOYWW. I love that card. I have got a Mothers Day card planned and will get it made today - I will come back and add a picture to my post later. I use a stain remover foam for carpet/rugs, which has worked on everything so far. It is the Dr Beckmann one. Off to have breakfast now. Ali x #14

  13. I love your description of an afternoon of little things... they can often be the most productive. Mine has been two weeks of drilling. Like you, I haven't yet made a mother's day card and am beginning to panic! Happy WOYWW. Take care and stay safe. With love & God Bless, Caro xxx (#18)

  15. That is a lovely card! I’m sure that inspiration will strike, probably at 10pm on Saturday night, lol! Knowing Joan, she’ll love anything you do so don’t worry about it. Sad about the coffee stain, don’t beat yourself up, I seem to drop things all the time these days or do something equally as stupid.....sigh. Hope the brownies are well received and that you have a good day, I’m around for a catch up this week, gimme a shout!

Love your card, I'm sure you'll make something really lovely for Mama. Will you be able to visit, I hope so.

  19. Good Morning dear friend. Your post on this past week sounds like my whole month. Ref to Mother's day cards, My Mom also a saver of treasures we made, had most of hers in a box and I have them but it'd take me awhile to find them. 21. Ok so when I read your comment earlier before rushing out the door to take hubby for his jab I had this image of you lying down (at 180 degrees) doing your colouring for 28 minutes. Just read it again and I think it was supposed to be a cooking reference!! Can you tell I don't bake and that when I do cook I use a gas oven. Oh MY. BJ#16

  22. Hi Julia, I love your “be still...” card. Have you tried salt on your stain? Rub it in and brush it out.
    Mmmm... brownies! Sound lovely!
Sorry I can’t help with Mother’s Day. I’m trying to ignore it - it was two years ago I lost her. My last card had crocheted flowers.
I’m sure you’ll land on something- does she like brownies?

  23. It sounds as if you are in the midst of a busy time, Julia. I'm afraid I have no Mother's Day card to show - I still can't get used to not having to make one! I always used to pick Mum a little bunch of primroses too and she loved that.

Thank you for your visit. I agree about the strip of squares laid over the chair - it is a taste of delights to come and really motivating! It will be a while before the blanket is finished but we're definitely on the way.

I do have a bit of a small appliances addiction, I suppose! However, over the years I collected many different gadgets mostly for chopping etc. and they all ended up in the charity shop box - I always return to my trusty knives and board. I am delighted with the new juicer so far, and of course my Vitamix is the king of all my appliances.

    Happy WOYWW,

  24. Hi Julia, I hope your day is going well whatever you're doing. It seems vinegar is magical stuff when it comes to cleaning but I didn't know it removes coffee stains - one to bear in mind. I can't help you with ideas for Mother's Day cards. I haven't made one since my own beloved mum died. I do my best to ignore all those Mother's Day adverts encouraging me to send her flowers - they are just reminders of what I'm missing. Your desk looks very busy and I love the card - lovely design. Have a great week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #30

LOLOL My daughter would have loved that pan of brownies as well as that Orange Fanta that you sitting on your desk!! It's her fave!! I love that Clarity stamp and your card is looking fabulous to me!! If you need inspiration that your card looks fab, go look at my sad lot of ATC's this week....that will pep you right up!!! 26. Good Morning Julia, Mothers day is not until May here in the states so, I have not really planned that one yet and I am more likely to be a seat of my pants gal on the deadline so, unless a miracle happens.. mostly I am just messing around with watercolors and such. I love that card you have going on that is really an interesting one with the three different elements to tie it together. I don't think I have ever seen anything like it. ~Stacy #33

  29. Hi Julia! I can't help you with Mother's Day cards, our Mother's Day isn't until May! The card you did make is lovely though, I love that colour blue! I was also clumsy this week, I spilled my red wine all over a WHITE sweatshirt! I tossed it in the wash right away, sprayed it with stain remover, and when I took it out of the dryer - Oh no! It had also splashed around to the side of my sleeve which I did not see! So I doubt it will come out now. Since I can't see it when it's on, I will ignore it...Have a great week! I know you will make a fab Mother's Day card! Lindart #35

  30. Beautiful card and very cool stamp! I won't be making Mother's Day cards for another month and they will be for our daughter and daughters-in-law, no mum as she passed 6 years ago.
But your desk is nice and busy!
    Have a wonderful week!

I will probably make one for Lady Pam, she never had children and one for my daughter from her kiddies as she has been amazing this lockdown, my other daughter is in USA so forgets because they don't have it til later...I always say, 9 months after Farther's day, is mother's day. (I tell my hubby, he was being born while I was being made) he cringes!! Stay safe, Keep crafting, Happy WOYWW?!((Lyn))#25

  33. Dear Julia, thanks for visiting and your concern for me. More on that later. First, even though I don't make cards, this one you created is beautiful. I really LOVE the layering, too. But most of all, I adore how well you colored the birds and flowers. I can see why you wanted that stamp set.

My grandmother (who, along with my grandfather, raised me from birth) died when I was 19, so I have no one to make Mother's Day cards for. And of course, ours is in May, as I'm sure you know.

Now for my not being able to visit others for several weeks. First, I had an outpatient procedure last month that drained some excess fluid from UNDER, not IN my eye. The surgeon used staples instead of stitches. They got infected. I waited to say something, almost too long, in fact and had to be hospitalized. Then I was told I couldn't use my eyes to watch TV, be on the internet/computer, or even read a book until I had been cleared. Needless to say, I mostly slept or snuggled with the "boys" until I had been cleared to use the internet again. Thanks so much for your concern, dear. That was quite sweet of you and shows how caring you are.

  34. Apologies Julia for forgetting leave you some love ❤️. I was in a bit of a rush yesterday, morni,no and meant ,to come back and comment! Yes I am really happy with my reorganisation, except yesterday I spent most of the afternoon looking for something (still not found it). Obviously looking in the wrong place. I was doing well with finishing my three pages still that point. I just put water on coffee tea stains and then soak it up with a towel. That usually works if the stain is fresh. You are the reason I rushed off as I realised I had to get my mother in law’s card in the post, so thank you for reminding me. I have a box of made cards. I made over 100 year before last with the intention of selling some, and along came Covid! Have a great week. Angela #21

  35. Thanks for your comment Julia, for the record my scrapbook journaling is usually written along side the photos directly on the page, hard to see in photos, I admit. Sometimes I add a hidden tag which I am in the process of doing for my last Feb page, you never know I might have it stuck down for next week...
As for the vacinnation, Hubby is having a rather bad reaction to his, knocked him for six from about 5 hours after it and the following 24 hours. He's been taking lots of pain meds but nothing stops him eating though - LOL. I'm still pondering it all as I can get nauseous even after a dental injection. We'll see.
    Thanks for the visit BJ#16
