What’s on your Workdesk? Wednesday 601

I didn’t have to go back and double check the week number!
A sort of twofer today. Having my desk face the kitchen means that daylight over exposes everything, so I took pictures from the back of the desk.
It’s very untidy, but you’re used to that. It’s been fairly productive actually. I made up quite a few cards over the two chat sessions on Saturday, and the last couple of days I’ve made a couple of specific cards and even coloured int eh cats that Linda sent me....you can see them. I don’t as a rule, use animal images, so where to go with these will be a bit of a challenge! On the top left are two boxes that open at the short ends like drawers. My mother in law gave them to me; they had Christmas cards in and of course, now written and sent, she has no use for the boxes. Not sure I do as yet, but they might be repurposed at some point! Almost hidden at front left is the amazing WOYWW 60o card that Shaz made and sent, despite being so poorly. I’m sorry you can’t see it properly, I will rectify that in another post.
This is the back....the stacked cards are those I made on Saturday, and you can see my scandi-chic glasses case for December use. Jan made it for me. Of course she did! It’s one of many things I like to swap out for the month to remind me that even every day things can signal Christmas panic anticipation.
So there you go...you’ve really seen a lot of me and mine this week, so I’ll leave it at that. Join in do, post a pic of your desk on your blog, put WOYWW win the post title and link it here, please. Carry on as if we didn’t interrupt ourselves then.

  1. Back to normal, desk a mess, and even the glimpse I can see of Shaz’ card looks fab. As is Jan’s glasses case. I still have my bag and my little hanging rubbish bin she made and love them, I’m with you on animals images. Cute, but I rarely manage to use them. As I mentioned, the Zoom crop was good fun, and while it is no substitute for a real crop, it marked the day, in a very 2020 way.

    Happy Woyww to all !

  4. I was leaving a message to Helen when you posted this morning. I'm glad it was early, so I can actually get some commenting in before I head to bed later.

You got a LOT accomplished on Saturday. I, on the other hand, sat and watched each person come up on the monitor. One at a time. Still it was the thrill of a lifetime for me, especially since I wouldn't get on an airplane right now, even if my life depended on it. I really had a wonderful time, and I am fairly sure you did, too. Thanks for this get together which was supposed to be a crop.

  6. It was fun to see all the faces of crafters around the world... I particularly loved seeing Darnell, whom I haven't seen for about 4 years!
Thanks for organising it, I'm glad the few hiccups were all sorted... even managed to advise Sylvia (via dedicated message) to plug in a web cam so we could see her too!

  7. Morning Julia now that's a sign of a good multitasker if you managed to make more than one card during your zoom crop, glad you all had such fun. Sounds like a fab get together, sorry I was unable to join in, hope one day when life allows I can get to a real crop. Happy WoywW Hugs Tracey x

  11. Happy WOYWW. There is a lot of creativity on your desk today. I am itching to sit down and get crafting with my new Crafters Companion kit, but I will be good and get housework/paperwork/gift wrapping/digital design done. First, I am commenting on a few blogs and then a large breakfast is needed for energy. Ali x #16

(Probably had chocolate in it before...of course they never leave a few of those! Have agreat week!((Lyn)) #15...I think

  13. Great to see your desk back to normal, lol, all is right with the world again! You did do well with the cards on Saturday, I think I did about three rows of the blanket, that’s all, it was more interesting to see what everyone else was up to. Nosy? Moi?

  14. Hi Julia, I wanted to send you a Christmas card but realised I haven't got your address which means we must never have done any swaps in the past, how strange is that! If you let me have your address I'll put one in the post. I can't start to tell you how much Saturday meant to me it was great to see everyone. Your desk looks good to me and the boxes!!! I just can't let them go Lol! Love to make them into something new. Take care and happy woyww, Angela x19x

  15. Lovely busy desk - I love the glasses case from Jan, what gorgeous fabric - I love the Scandi style. Thanks so much for organizing the get together on Saturday, it was lovely to see you and all the other deskers. I didn't get anything done, I had my crochet scarf by my side ready to work on, but realised it was so long since I worked on it I'd forgotten how to do the fancy stitch so will have to look it up on YouTube again!
Hope you have a great week,

  16. And there I was excited I'd made 12 cards on Saturday but you seem to have been much more productive LOL. Thanks for the card inspiration from your previous post (598) It really jump started me. Wondering what will get me back into scrapping, although I need to sort out some photos to get printed first, always a backbreaker and something I seem to avoid, which doesn't help!.

Anyway thanks so much for the zoom meet-up it was super cool BJ #21

  17. Hi Julia, the drawers will definitely come in handy - for something. I did get quite a bit of crocheting done on Saturday, but that meant I had to concentrate. I think I should have made cards instead, and then I could have joined in the chat more. Although I'm naturally quieter, preferring to sit back and take it all in! Have a lovely week, hugs Heather xx #17

  18. Ooh see you were productive on Saturday!! Lol! How fabulous of shaz to make you a 600th card, never even dawned on me!! I loved Saturday, it was the longest I spent in the craft room this year!!

  19. Hi Julia, happy to see the card arrived safely. Was so lovely to see so many WOYWWers at the Zoom crop- even Darnell, and that seems like an Ice age ago since she was over here.A sucker for boxes here too, especially ones with drawers. Mind you, I'm a sucker for drawers too- I used to have a Saturday job in a chemist, the real old fashioned sort, it was many moons ago-and it had whole banks of drawers of all sizes, with those gorgeous brass upside down half moon handles, thats probably where my fascination comes from! Christmas panic well underway here too! Love the glasses case, very you. Stay safe, Love and hugs to you both, Shaz XxXxXx

  20. Hi Julia, happy WOYWW, it was lovely to see you and the other gentle deskers last Saturday. I am sure you will find something creative to do with those boxes. I am struggling for energy at the moment, do a bit, rest, do a bit more, have a nap is the pattern. Have a great week. Angela #25

  21. Yes! I’d definitely do it again! I was not “busy” or “crafty “ during the Zoom (crop) meeting. I was just trying to get to know everyone. You know, put names and faces together!
Thank you for the great experience and opportunity!

    Stay safe and well!

    Happy Wednesday

  22. I made a bunch of cards too and just getting resigned to send them off on their way to bring as much joy in receiving as I had in making them. Thanks again and again for the time together. Next year may some of us be together for real! Robyn 27 (who says y'all and howdy)

  23. I was shocked when I was unable to leave a comment to Shoshi. Seems my blog has been forbidden to visit and I have to fill out some sort of form. Has this happened to others? I had no trouble visiting last week.

  24. It was so fun to see everyone on Saturday! I'm surprised you were able to make anything, Julia, while keeping us entertained. I can listen while creating but I can't talk at the same time! I think the online crop was a resounding success and made it possible to meet up with international deskers as well. Ok, not the same thing as meeting in person but everything has advantages and disadvantages. The advantage of not having to travel was definitely in its favour! Happy #601 - yes, for once I didn't have to check the sequence either! Have a lovely week! xx zsuzsa #23

  25. Julia, I think your desk looks very crafty!! And can I say WOW at the cards you made during those sessions!! Apparently, unlike me, you can do two things at one time!! LOLOL I'm good to walk and chew gum at the same time let alone bust out that many cards when you are trying to entertain folks! LOLOL It was so good to see Shaz and I do hope she gets better soon! Do show off that fancy card!! Happy Wednesday to you and thanks again for Saturday! :) Felicia #29

  27. HI Julia! So nice to have you in my head when I write to you now! The cat looks great. In one of my Facebook groups someone was was using cats with just normal sentiments, and they were great! Of course, Tim Holtz has his snarky statements, which coming from a cat don't seem quite as rude! Your desk looks nice and busy, have a great week! Lindart #31

  28. Hi Julia, I made it! It's always touch and go these days but it's a good week when I publish my WOYWW post. The cats are quirky and I like quirky anything. I've no doubt you will eventually upcycle your MILs very useful boxes. Love Shaz's special card and Debbie's amazing star - gorgeous keepsakes of a memorable occasion. Have a fab week. Hugs, Elizqabeth x #34

PS: Having just helped my young fit grandson move two incredibly heavy doors from downstairs to upstairs, I must say I'm totally in awe of what your hubby does as a norm in his job, and you for the help you give him. It almost did me an injury! xx

  29. Hi Julia, I am totally impressed by how many cards you created and double that thought that you did it during a crop. ( every one I have ever been to and its been years mind you, all I did was talk to people lol) ~Stacy #35

  30. Hi Julia, very impressed that you made cards as well answering the zoom doorbell, contacting those in difficulties and chatting on Saturday! It was great fun, although finding a way of avoiding everyone talking at once would be good to let the quieter ones in.
take care, stay safe and happy WOYWW

  32. Thank you again for Saturday-I’m amazed you got anything done as you kept the conversations flowing beautifully. Love the spec case too.

  33. Thank you for arranging the Zoom sessions on Saturday, Julia. Once I managed to get on, it was fine. It was fun, but too many people all talking at once didn't make it easy to get a word in edgeways and not a lot of real conversation! I am sure it is better meeting in person and you can move around and talk to different people individually.

    Thanks for visiting.

    Happy WOYWW,

  34. I'm sure you'll find a use for those boxes before too long! I love those quirky cats - not that I've used mine for while! Still smiling at the realisation that I've been away for far too long!!! Hugs, Chrisx #38

  35. Sounds like the Zoom meeting was a success! So glad so many made it!
I bet you'll come up with something cool for those boxes.
Looks like you got quite a few cards made.
    Have a wonderful week!
