What’s On your Workdesk, Wednesday 595

The last desk day of October. Whoosh. I don’t know how we’re all hanging on to be honest!
I’ve been using my desk as a stamping, colouring, assembling, and glitter drying area all in the same time frame.
I finally got my Christmas stamp box from the attic room and having raked through it and considered the few unused clear stamps from last Christmas, and having added the clear stamps I’ve picked up already this year, guess what spoke to me?...yep, a wood mount from probably ten years ago, by Magenta. Strange. Using the Tri Blends for colouring again. But I did mix it up a bit...here in the drying area are some gernomies that I actually painted with Cosmic Shimmer mica watercolours.
I have to give you a second photo to prove it. This is the ultra sophisticated drying area. I thought they’d be good to use up some old papers but seemed really plain, so I added glitter to the beards, which is why they are drying. yawn. All of this industry occurred on Saturday whilst it rained and rained and rained. Awful day. I’ve barely been back to it all since, but have moved some stuff around in a five minute moment of wondering yesterday. As in, now I’ve got all these images done, I wonder what to do with them! Time will tell, gentle desker. I’ll be road testing my Zoom abilities this week with the Coven, and will report back and help with answers to the short list of questions that have come up as soon as I have a couple of trials under my belt. Meanwhile, please carry on as usual, show and tell in that most generous way that you do.
See you at your place.

  1. Morning Julia! I often use old images at Christmas, funny isn't it? At least this year i haven't bought any new ones (I know, shock! horror!) I like your drying area!! Have a good day.

  2. Morning Julia. Love the drying facilities! Great idea. I actually did succumb and buy new this year - but I have used older as well... Those cards are looking good. Have a great day.
    Take care. God bless.

    1. Hi Julia. Such a productive time in the rain! I love your drying tower.
I’ve used Zoom for meetings but only in the mode of one person speaking at a time. Are you envisaging something different? It will be interesting to see. Stay safe and happy WOYWW Lynnecrafts 6

  5. Great rainy day productivity there Julia, well done!
Rainy day here but zero in production of cards, although I did insert in one and mail it so that’s a real plus especially as for a birthday next Wed! In November! Christmas is seriously near and with overseas post being so slow, trying to make it there before the day by mailing there in next two weeks. Things are so slow because our borders are closed and very few flights out or in. Curiously though mail to UK not too bad so will do those in end of overseas one.
Have yet to count my list so hopefully have enough plus some to give away
Funny how we love those beautiful old wooden stamps, I’ve many I really love from 1990’s. That wasn’t yesterday!
    Happy WOYWW.
Thanks for sharing, and God bless, Shaz in Oz.x #5

  6. Morning Julia! It's been six years! I know that, because my last link to you was still on Mr Linky! It's nice to be back and seeing your desk is still as busy as ever!
Happy Crafty Wednesday and a very Happy WOYWW

  7. Gosh super industrious for Christmas! Drying space can be an issue, I use my bed but that has it's obvious downfall - LOL.

Good luck with the Zoom tests. I've been using it for church meetings all lockdown and bought a screen for background as my PC is in my bedroom - nuff said!

  8. Glitter and shimmer makes everything look more exciting! I use gold whenever I think my projects need a pick me up! Are those little angels on your desk in the first shot? So cute! Looks like the cardmaking is in full swing - it's good to be on a roll, isn't it? I very much look forward to the virtual crop! Yippee! Have a lovely week, Julia! xx zsuzsa #9 (bright and early today!)

  10. Morning m'dear. Lovely gnomes! I have also been using things I have had festering in my stash for years. Always fun to take something old and look at it with eyes that have see all the techniques and additions we have now. It truly makes the old new again. Would that it were true for creaky old bodies as well LOL! Looking forward to the Zooming. Hope it all goes well. Do you have a professional Zoom account? I believe we do, and will check with the hubby, but I think it matters as to number of people on screen at one time and also "meeting" time. If Doug has sorted that, fab. If not, LMK and I'll check if we can borrow the paid Zoom for the day.

    Happy WOYWW!

  11. Gernomies it is here too - had some images left over from last year and decided to go with them as they are quick to do and fun. Not much call for my 'special' cards this year as I haven't seen the GP so she isn't going to get one and they are only hand deliverable (usually) so will stick to something easier. That is when I get around to it.
That is when I stop playing with those Janet Klein images of course - I am hooked.
Terrible weather up here, rain rain and more rain so it's definitely crafting times ahead.
    Hugs, Neet xx

  13. Hi Julia, pleased to see you using up some old stuff. I have been through mine and found something to add to the new stash. Every year I say no, I wont get anything new and it never works....well not so far. Wishing you a lovely creative woyww, Angela x18x

  14. Hello Julia, I always feel a bit sad when my older Christmas stamps don't get used as I feel it's like another year before they'll get a chance to shine again - a bit daft as some of them have never been out the packet. I love the drying area - I tend to put them on te bed as otherwise I end up plonking something on top as I have a very short memory these days. Yep, where did October go? It's frightening to think that before we know it we'll have been in this mess for a year. Stay well, stay safe, Cindy #19

  15. Happy WOYWW-day my lovely. A hive of industry on your desk, indeed. But what better way to spend a rainy day (other than in front of the fire in a blanket, and with a cup of hot chocolate and a good film/book)?

We seem to get more rain than anywhere else and it might have made me think twice about moving down here. But heigh ho! Life is not so bad if all we have to complain about is the weather...

  16. Glittery beards huh? It’s a good thing that we desires know what you’re talking about immediately, which is a bit worrying really, lol!! I like the foxy stamp, very cute indeed. You need a set of library ladders, they’d be great for the drying of multiple items.... ;-)

PS I had to turn off BT web protect to get on to Stamping Ground, will turn it back on later. Weird, BT obviously doesn’t like something on your blog...

  17. Cosmic shimmer mica watercolours? Tri Blends? I get to google products I haven't heard of yet and it's not even 6am! I learn so much here at WOYWW :)
Your off to a great Christmas card making start! Love the fancy drying area ~ Great until you turn quick and they all fall down like dominos and stick together...not that I've ever done that or set my mug on top of a stickle goo ~ Yup. Oh and I'm also a zoom virgin and I think I'll stay that way until I absolutely have to figure it out. Blessings on your week and your creative endeavors ~ Karen

  18. I love the choirboys-I still prefer wooden backed stamps but use the gadget for clear ones quite a lot too. I need to tidy away a bit today as I notice I have now spread to four areas of the house-naughty me!

  19. I definitely have some favourite Christmas stamps that come out every year. My craftroom is lika a bomb's hit it - hence photo of a different area if you look at my post!

  21. Good morning, Miss Julia

I do understand the rain. We had it all of Monday and most of Tuesday. This is way to early for them We normally don't see the rains before mid November. But then everything about this season has run about 3 weeks ahead of schedule.

Cute gnomes. They seem to be the thing this year. I made gnome tags for my SU post last Sunday.

Not sure I'll be joining the zoom. After hearing about accounts being hacked early on in this whole mess, I've steered clear. I wish you all a very happy chat. Creative Blessings! Kelly #25

  22. The comment above mine by Kelly echoes my feelings exactly. It worries me I admit. This morning I tried something new and time will tell if it was successful. I did one post, published it and then I think I somehow went over it as it disappeared and my WOYWW post has the same URL. Wishing you a happy WOYWW and a great week x

  23. Good Afternoon :) I forgot about the gnomies , must get them out. I used to LOVE magenta stamps!!
I have to say i am NOT a fan of this time of year at all - would like to hibernate until Spring, its SO dark!
Enjoy playing with zoom , i tend to keep myself on mute for our morning briefings as i am always inappropriate. Soojay #26 xxx

  24. Julia, I love your wit this week! The whole stamp episode would have totally been me! Funny how we do that no? And let's talk about your sophisticated drying system!! LOL I think the thing that makes us as creative as we are, is that we come up with other "industrial" creative ideas to further show off our creativity! LOLOL This was classic! LOL Have a great Wednesday and hopefully sunshine will be in the forecast! Felicia #26

  25. They say that for every new thing you buy you should throw something out, I think that's where I went wrong!
Your work in progress looks ace... I have a bit of a problem waiting for things to dry,.. I seem to crave instant gratification!
Have a good week and stay safe!

I am looking forward to the Zoom get together. Haven’t found the right download yet. A neighbor says they have one. Hopefully soon.

  28. You certainly are busy with your Christmas crafting, Julia. Thank you for your visit, and I'm glad you like Tiny Carpet #5! The projects impatiently queueing up to be dealt with are 1) finish purple circles jumper in time for the winter, and 2) make 2 throws for our new furniture, due to arrive early November!

    Happy WOYWW,

  29. I am grinning Julia, as my drying areas tend to look very much the same and I did get a couple of the Bethlehem stamps colored and made into very simple cards too. :) ~Stacy #32

  30. Hello, my faraway friend! I am loving seeing all that production happening on your desk. It's inspiring me to yank out my Christmas stamps. You are not alone, I bought some this year even though I know I have a bunch in my chaotic craft closet. I like the colors you chose for your watercolored images. I need to break out my watercolors. Sometimes I get a little lazy. Every time I see your gnomes, I want to go out and buy them. They seemed to flood the market so I hesitated but when I see yours, I want some. I am trying to curb my shopping for the month of November. My Covid induced shopping is out of control. I see nothing wrong with your drying station because mine often looks like that too. Have a wonderful rest of your week. I am not sure I will be posting or visiting next week with our elections coming up. It's a hot mess and I am a bundle of nerves. Stay well and keep crafting, my friend.

  31. Hello Julia, we must be on the same wave length..... I sent a pic, to my craft club mates, of my junk modelling (ie. cardboard journal in progress) while I was in the middle of painting it with black gesso. I was 8 again. Oh the joy! I think I’m going to black gesso all my card board now.... I love wet play days.
Hope your zooming lesson went well. With Love & Hugs from Sue #24 xx
