What’s on your Workdesk? Wednesday 591

and just like that, it’s Wednesday again and I’m in a right old state of behind!
A bit gloomier and a longer shot. Sorry if it makes you tut. See that cardboard box? When they’re all tidied away, my scrapbook supplies and papers are in there. Saves me trudging from the other room every couple of minutes. In full flow, the boxes with embellishments perch on the coffee table, my file full of alphas sit in the armchair at left of the desk and still the surface of the desk ends up like this! There was an online crop at the weekend courtesy of Scraptastic Inspirations on FB. I managed to keep up on Saturday, but didn’t get to my desk until tea time on Sunday so am now playing catch up. The challenges have really erm, exercised me. Here you see the remnants of a LO that I did with a Christmas theme which I don’t often do so had to dig very deep. The challenge was actually to document a photo that captured an embarrassing/unintentionally funny moment.
It’s a very unflattering pic of me from 1992, but that’s the hazard in letting other people have the camera! Back to the desk....
There’s a piece of black card slotted at an angle above the tape gun...looks like a black hole developing! The hideous fence looks really close doesn’t it, like horrible curtains! I’ll try to remember to take a pic from outside looking in during the week, it may give you a lot more context!
Never mind all that anyway, show us yours will ya? Got to be a more interesting mess than mine as I dive into another challenge.
Please put WOYWW in your post title and link your blog post here. Easy. Friendly. And the kettle is always on. Actually, especially round at our Cindy’s this week, she’s throwing an online Macmillan Coffee Morning. If you’d like to join in, she’d love to see you, and I really look forward to virtual cake!

  1. Well that was weird. I think I lost my internet just as is clicked to comment. Now it’s back. Such a comfort that your desk is a constant. And it’s a lovely page, no matter what you may think of the photo. I will always remember the Woyww with Mr Dunnit lying prone in th garden under a ladder....

My entire craft room is called The Black Hole by some members of my family lol! Your tiny one is just the start.

Of to the hospital for tests today, hence my early awakening, but back to comment by lunch, with luck!
    Happy Woyww to you

  3. It's a fun LO which makes good use out of that photo (which incidentally I think captures the real you!!). Hope you're enjoying the challenge, I wouldn't want the time pressure myself, that's why I don't take part :-)
    Catch up soon,

  4. Morning Julia. I think your desk looks far more interesting and industrious then mine - and, honestly, I really and truly HAVE been at mine this week.
Take care girl. Beware the encroaching black hole. It was good to chat this week - hope the family didn't mind a late tea! God bless.

  6. Morning Julia.. *92 now that was a great year!! Photographs of me are usually braced with me peeping from behind hands to my face or hiding behind someone! Looks like you are having a right laugh. Beautiful LO. Cardboard boxes are good friends to keep our crafty goodies safe and sound.
Take care & make sure you get some crafty time to catch up.

  7. Loved the photo...you look so happy. You’ve done a lovely job with the LO too. I’m missing in action today but hope to catch up with comments tomorrow....it’s a busy week x

  8. Gosh, you are in total contrast to me with the desk this week. Shows how busy you have been - must be the technique of weaving those strips that caused the busy-ness! I do like the LO - it is very effective and I love the photo of you that is the main feature. You are so obviously enjoying the moment.
The cardboard box is a great idea and reminds me of my crafting at the caravan - it consists of two cardboard boxes with my entire craft room (up there) in it. And they cost "nowt"

  11. Happy WOYWW. Struggling with inspiration for typing comments this morning, so all I will say is that I love that LO. I never seem to get round to taking many photos at Christmas or scrapping afterwards. Too busy rushing around in the kitchen! Ali x #8

  12. Hi Julia, early this morning as next doors dog was barking at 6.00 this morning so thought I'd get up. I like the photo of you but know what you mean about letting someone take pics of you, think they do it on purpose Lol! Have a lovely woyww and happy crafting.Angela x12x

  13. Sad to say I haven't joined the party with you for ages Julia... I love that picture of you exuding fun and I appreciate the patience it must have taken to do all that weaving on your layout.
I have never made a scrapbook page, I think I find the prospect too daunting, but I can appreciate the work of others!
Do stay safe and keep having fun!

  14. I really like the threaded strips on your layout. Good way of using up scraps!!
Lovely to see your desk so busy!

  15. Hi Julia, your desk looks very industrious- far more than mine, so I didn't show it! I think your layout is fab - I love photos that capture fun moments. I hate having my photo taken so most of my scrapbooking will be with me looking away, or hidden - plus I don't seem to have many of me (thankfully). My craft room is turning into Tardis rather than a black hole. So much stuff in there, I have no idea where it all goes. A clear out is definitely required! Have a lovely week, Heather xx #17

  16. Love the LO Julia - happy photo - funny how a photo can take you right back all those years and you remember the incident so clearly. (AND from an oldie's point of view - long may that ability last!) I hope the black hole doesn't extend further - G calls my entire room the black hole - goodness knows why!!! xx Jo

  17. What a happy photo in the layout-and Dad’s always like to look after their daughters. I actually dusted the cobwebs off my diecutter this week to cut out a million bits for christmas crafting via zoom with my group. Keep smiling!

  19. Hi Julia, glad I’m not the only one to struggle with black holes! I have a particular one that eats crochet hooks. If you look happy in a photo that’s more important to me than if it’s flattering.
Stay safe, have a good good WOYWW

  20. It would take a lot more for me to "tut" LOL - perhaps if you set off a grenade on your desk, I might tut a little. What a cute layout! I like the idea of those strips that make up the background. You're right though, one way of making sure you're not in the photos is if you have the camera! Then you can ask somebody to take a photo of you while you're carefully composing yourself - but where's the fun in that? This photo shows you in your element which makes it priceless! Enjoy your coffee morning with the virtual cake - I might have some of that too! Sounds like I can even get away with binging on it! Hmm, virtual cake! Have fun, Julia and happy #591! xx

  21. I wouldn't have the nerve to tut - that's just what happens when one is creating!! Thanks for the promo - I did mention the coffee morning in today's post but may go back and add the link. Had to shoot out to take OH to GP for flu jab, the poor girl doing them was set up in the car park!! You'd think they could at least have found her a gazebo!! Still chuckling over that. 22. Hi Julia, I'm one of those who needs about 20 photos taking to find one that I find acceptable! How people take one and look fabulous I'll never understand.Love the desk shot, that a real crafter in the flow!Great layout, all the paper strips are a fab idea. Stay safe, huge hugs, Shaz #6 XxXxXx

  23. Julia, you are so funny! I feel the same way about pix of myself as well and probably scrutinize more than I should, but it has to be a really good pix or barely showing me, for me to post! LOLOL On another note, I love your Christmas layout! All the little bits that come together are fun!! I love when it happens like that!! And as far as your desk....mine is MORE like that than not!!! LOLOL Happy WOYWW to you and the rest of your week! Blessings, Felicia #26

  24. Oh happy day ! Your desk makes me feel right at home. Seems there's one or two days a week I have this same pile up I cannot enlarge your photos any more, but the 1992 photo looks young and full of fun. I too like the paper weaving surrounding it. Have a good week, stay safe.

  25. Hi Julia! You look very organized to me - I'm sure you know exactly where everything is! Your layout is cute - if we can't laugh at ourselves who can we laugh at? 27. Hello, my friend! I am about to clear my other cabinet and then my desk will look exactly like yours! I can't believe that is a fence in the window. It does look like curtains/blinds. A few of my crafty friends have been doing virtual crops and they complain a bit about the challenges. But it helps you use your stash and that is always a good thing. I am supposed to start working on Christmas cards. Nope, it hasn't happened yet. I don't want to wait until the last minute. So hopefully next week I will begin. I wish you well on your scrapbooking challenges for the crop. Do share more if you complete them.

  28. Hi, Julia!

I always love your desk! Makes me feel right at home.
Mike plans to buy drywall to close up the hole in the basement wall. You know how slow progress can be. The stuff from this room is still displaced and clutters around me. I have been doing my best to go through it and let go of things.....it still doesn’t look like I’ve let go of much!

I love your layout! The look on your face is pure joy!

    Happy Wednesday!

  29. Hi Julia, virtual cake is probably the only one I should choose - soooo calorie free. Your desk looks fine considering you've been participating in a weekend challenge. And that photo is very scrap- worthy though I do know what you mean about letting someone else have charge of the camera ... it's a hit and miss experience. Though you do look like you are having fun so I'd say this one was a hit. Have a great week. Hugs, Elizabeth. x #27

  31. Oh my! Hope you are getting lots accomplished! Paper cutter on the floor.. piles of stuff in your work area. Seems familiar! My paper trimmers sit atop my trash can and there's oodles of paper poop on the floor.
    Have a great week!
