It doesn’t look too bad does it. Does it? Well, OK, mostly it’s just stuff pushed back and piled, but I really have to get these cards done. And, I got into the mood to do ephemera sorting. Our Kelly Desker had a video on one of her WOYWW posts about how she sorted and stored ephemera. Really struck a chord with me, and just out of the blue yesterday, I decided to have a go.
I was driving home when the need to do this came upon me, and I didn’t get in till after 4pm, so then I had to work fast and smart. Thats a joke, but I made a start. Commandeered the kitchen island and started sorting my ephemera. Turned out to be an interesting exercise. Loads of tags for writing on, a fair few floral things, some travel theme die cuts and a good few words and messages. So only need five folios. I’ll show you more when I’ve gone further. If you’re interested, visit Kelly, I have absolutely no improvements or tips to add to her excellent video, of course. The motivation for finishing is strong...I need the worktop back for proper domestic doings. Like food! So, in the same week - birthday cards, folios, blimey, am I mojo specific? it would seem not! show us what you’re up to please, it’s no fun without you. Put WOYWW in your post title and link it here. Ever so many thank yous.
Mojo Specific sounds like a character in a Tom Sharpe satire! Or David Bowie song....take your pick 😂Am glad you're multitasking and getting good use out of that lovely worktop!

This sorting malarkey is catching isn't it?! But now you've got me thinking I should have sorted mine by type rather than by colour... hhmmm... Loving the funky cow stamp too! I'm determined to get my cameo doing some fussy cutting for me too. Have a fabulous week, Lisa-Jane #2
ReplyDeleteGlad you are OK, Julia - I was beginning to worry when I couldn’t find this week’s WOYWW page! Well done with the ephemera sorting. You get a huge amount of satisfaction from this sort of thing. I just wish I could keep to one of this year’s New Year resolutions - “Tomorrow I am going to stop procrastinating” - and maybe my studio wouldn’t be such a tip, and I’’d actually be able to find things, and what’s more, get back to my desk and do some more paper/mixed media stuff. I seem to be hooked up with the fibre and textile-based aspects of my work these days! Ah well, it’s all creativity, isn’t it.
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW,

Well done you on the sorting and filing Mojo Specific! Great term. It's quite theraputic looking over all the bits and bobs and remembering where they came from and why you want to keep them etc. Enjoy! xxx Jo
ReplyDeleteDon't worry about posting late, Julia - gave me a chance to get in early for a change and just about made the top 10! I like the idea of sorting your ephemera - the operative word being the "idea". I'm too disorganised to actually do it, but maybe one of these days I'll get bitten by the bug too. I like those little coloured images - dogs? cows? Doesn't matter - they're cute! Happy #580! xx zsuzsa - proudly in at #10 this week!
ReplyDeleteThose sheep look rather fun - which city was it had loads of those sheep everywhere that artists and companies had painted up! Brain fog here too...
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW
I was surprised to see you being allowed to put such things on that lovely worktop but still I guess it will have worse things on it, like messy food stuff. It's good to have a sort now and then that way you actually remember what you've got and use it....maybe I should take my own advice Lol! Have a lovely creative woyww, Angela x14x
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW. Loving the sheep card. I have recently started making ATCs again and was very happy to use my box of ephemera (love that word!), which I sorted previously into envelopes by subject, ie birds, animals, words etc etc. Very satisfying. Ali x #16
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely worktop - and perfectly suitable for ephemera sorting. Starnge how crafting seems to spread all over the house (My husband usually says you have a craft room for that - and I reply the dining table is far better for marbling and so on...)
ReplyDeleteI love that cow stamp(?)...
Morning Julia, I knew it wouldn't be long before that island became part of the crafting scene, it's important to spread our creative love in more rooms than one. Good work on the ephemera, I try to do the same but it never stays neat and in one place for long. Love the little sheeps or cows as Susan said, is it woodware..?? Great company never the less but i'm not looking at stamps, I need to stay in the use what you have mode.

P.S Catch everyone later carer duty calls x
Sounds like your mojo is more active than mine, love those little sheep on your desk, so cute. Now I'm curious as to the floral curvy thingummy gig on your kitchen island, please enlighten me. BJ#21 (also late but what the heck LOL) Oh and just spotted a love spoon, aww.
ReplyDeleteWell done ( so far ;)) on your sorting - I have also been sorting ( mostly because a box of jewellery findings fell all over the blinkin floor!! -I am not sure that I will ever be truly sorted as I tend to make such a mess and want to use the "sorted" stuff. Have a lovely week . Soojay #22
ReplyDeleteMorning Julia, back from my scan now. Honestly, I feel like a barcode some days! Guessing I'll get a telephone chat with results in a couple of weeks. Sorting ephemera eh? I have some of that, have no idea why, I never use it. It'll probably get bagged and go on the swaps table at the next crop. Liking the look of what you've stamped, and great colours. I've improved, I will colour now, but it's still not something I can do for sheer enjoyment.Stay safe, love and hugs to you both, Shaz # 7 XxXxXxXx
ReplyDeleteGlad all is ok and thanks Angela for linking me . I'd have been well late for work if I'd waited lol . Fab desk and well done on ephemera sorting
ReplyDeleteI’m here just to leave you a comment today. I’m ok but the world went mad Monday night with the new rules about face masks. Its crazy here. Yesterday at 7am I had 12 customers waiting in the queue on my Facebook page....I made masks nonstop all day and finished selling at 10pm and there was still 15 customers in the queue!! And today is no better hence sadly I’ve no time for blogging today. I’m sorry because it’s an important part of my week.
ReplyDeleteHugs,

Oh! I love your new kitchen island! Just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI’ve been trying to use up extra die cuts or extra embossed panels for my Christmas cards. I’ve been putting them all a pile and see what comes out! No folders, just a plastic box which also includes extra background papers of the inked or foiled variety.
Happy Wednesday,:Julia
Awww Miss Julia. Thank you. I am loving having my ephemera sorted. I'm thinking now I need one just for things I remove from magazines... like birds, words, flowers, holiday ... that aren't company die cuts. We shall see. I know Bob would love the magazine piles disappear and Iknow a folio would take up much less room. Creative Blessings - Kelly #25ish
ReplyDeleteUsing up scraps is tricky - you get it out and then it is about a 1/4 of an inch too small for you to cut out what you want sooo ....you pull out a new paper! Happens to me all the time! Very good of you to sort out your ephemera! I must see Kelly's video might inspire me like it did you!
ReplyDeleteLove and hugs
Cardarian
Sorting ??? Ive got a new method. When the mood takes me I go in the office where the floor has become invisible as my craft stuff among other things is covering it. I fill one bag with stuff and throw it out. At the rate I’m going we could be looking at this time next year before the carpet becomes visible
ReplyDeleteLynn xx
I can't believe I got the number 1 spot! The only time ever! I must look out for Kelly's video as I have a lot of ephemera that could do with organising - just all jumbled in two boxes at the moment, with some bits in envelopes. I love the fact that your crafting hobby is taking over the kitchen island as well. Happy WOYWW. Take care and stay safe. With love & God Bless, Caro xxx (#1)
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, I hope you will forgive me for not getting here very often! First of all I must say I love those sheep.Secondly, Have I missed something or are you being bricked in???
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen Kelly's organising method but a few weeks ago I started sorting my scraps into relevant boxes - much easier to find animals, flowers, faces etc now!! Hugs,Chrisxx
Just saying hello. Not joining in this week as nothing on my desk :-( Hopefully back crafting soon. Anne x
ReplyDeleteLove the sheep on your desk! The colors are so fun!
ReplyDeleteAnd what a task to organize your ephemera! I barely got my stuff unpacked from a scrapbooking retreat!
Have a great week!
Carol N #24
So proud I got round - then realised I'd forgotten to leave you a comment! I usually do you first but well.... you know how it goes! I love the cows, where are they from? I had to smile - no matter how much you make the pile never really goes down does it? Who are we kidding!! Happy WOYWW, stay safe, stay well, Cindy #11xx
ReplyDeleteGernomes can be quite helpful at resupplying a supply that is being used :D. Also quite good at hiding things needed. Love a busy desk! I will have to look for the video as I love sorting through ephemera (even if it causes desk mayhem whilst I try to create in the middle of sorting).
ReplyDeleteHi there and happy WOYWW! I should sort my stuff too but even when I do, it seems to never be done. Have a great week. Dorlene #31
ReplyDeleteYou have been busy Julia. Kelly's idea for the folios is a good one isn't it? My stash of inky backgrounds doesn't seem to be going down much either, despite the prolific tag making recently. Stay safe and happy belated WOYWW. Sarah #5
ReplyDeletePeewee, that was hard work. Hopefully I’m #38 but just checking I’m registered in the world of #WOYWW......
ReplyDeleteOh, the whirlwind that goes through our studios (or kitchens) when Mojo strikes... great job Julia! Love from Holland, Marit #20
ReplyDeleteSorry for the lateness but just managed to return and read. One never makes a dent in scrap my box just keepes growing and growing. Then there is never a scrap big enough. Ani #6
ReplyDeleteSorry I am late (like a week) but just came here and realised I had not seen this blog. Love the animals on your desk - are they sheep or cows? They look lovely by the way, and I like the colours you have used.
ReplyDeleteNow what is this about a video? I think I must investigate - and you mention the word 'folio' which is something I have just been making and am about to make again. Will whizz over to the video as soon as I put my name on here.
Of course I have lots to do and no time to watch a video but hey ho, what is time anyway. Just spent/wasted half an hour looking for a cat stamp and darned annoyed it is nowhere to be seen - story of my life,.
Hugs, neet xxx
