What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 498

I can't quite believe it's the Wednesday before Christmas! In my mind, I was going to have a completely empty desk so that I unroll wrapping paper and cut required sizes on the flat, and the tapes, tags and ribbons would be in basket, easily to hand and easy to move without losing stuff. Well that was a pipe dream.
I can hear my father saying 'it's a shambles'. It is, but the work is being done equally well, so it will be OK. What struck me most about this picture is the pot of embossing paste in the centre on top of my acrylic drawers in which I keep foam pads and erm, stuff. I can't remember when I last embossing paste or why it has such a prominent place on the desk..that's usually saved for something new  - or worse, something with a deadline! You can just see a grid like print out on the work surface - it's a January 2019 calendar. I used to always have a 12 x 12 calendar LO and thanks to a challenge on Facebook, I'm going to do another...I even have a frame to hang the calendar in, so it makes sense! What are you up to this week...are you in a panic, or resigned? Still making or chilling? I made more mince pies yesterday, so drop by if you'd like one with a cuppa.

  1. well at least you've started wrapping.. mine are still sat on my "desk" waiting (although there is a reason for that as you will read.. Thank you for the lovely card and hoping to take you up on the message for sure! Happy Christmas and thankyou for another year of desking! Helen 1 (and 2, pasted the link wrong)

  2. Morning Julia, I don't wrap until Christmas Eve in the tradition of last minute panic. As most of the presents haven't been bought yet it's looking more and more likely the tradition will continue this year lol. Merry CHristmas. Sarah #4

  3. It was a late night because of Christmas wrapping (snag list being seen to today so wanted stuff out of the way before they come) and for some reason been awake since 5 am!!!
With you on the "cannot believe it is the Wednesday before Christmas" and I really wish it wasn't. Never ever again will I have work done so close to Christmas. Mind you the hole in the lounge ceiling did not help with dates.
Can I ask if I can have one of the Christmas cakes if there are any left over rather than the mince pie please? Am rather partial to them and didn't make one this year. Of course I won't eat it in one go - honestly!
Have a wonderful Christmas and thank you for bringing so many of us close. A wonderful enabler in more ways than three.
Hugs and Happy Christmas, Neet 3 xxx

  4. Hi Julia, well, ditto on everyone else’s amazement that it’s the week before Christmas. But I think I’m organised kinda. Mind you I haven’t wrapped yet either so might find something missing.. hope not. Have few “in case ofs” anyway.
Yes my table in dining room should be clear for wrapping but it hasn’t been for ages. Can manage one side but not the whole kaboodle.
Happy WOYWW 498!!! what an achievement!

  5. If I was nearer i'd be round for that mince pie in a shot Julia.
Think we are all in wrapping mode, I still have presents to buy.
Pouring of rain here just like yesterday. Least my Mom's shop has been done just the MIL's food shopping to take care of. I'll be the one being Santa this year too.. another string to my bulging bow but we love it don't we.
Merry Christmas Julia, i'll see you on cold turkey day..

  6. I bumble along from one day to the next. There’s lots of stuff wrapped and ticked off but the whole house is a tip and I’ve no idea what else needs doing so I hit it as it comes along. Just wish it wasn’t such a commercial thing now. Think I need therapy to get me out of the Grinch mode.
Have a good Christmas Julia and all the best to you and yours
    Lynn xx

  8. Hello Julia. Also can't believe that this time next week the big day will have been and gone, however it's not just about that is it so I'm ok with it!
I'm not ready but getting there! What will be will be and I'm not fretting!
Wishing you a happy and healthy Christmas! Anne X @12

  9. I've been playing carols for fiord weeks now and it's still a surprise that there's only six days until the main event! I loved Tracey's comment about seeing you on Cold Turjey day! With bubble and squeak too, hopefully 😁
Hope all goes well, lots of love,

  10. Hope you manage to discover what the embossing paste was out for, Julia! Maybe you’ve got gremlins or borrowers - but they usually take stuff and hide it rather than leave it out on show! We are having our usual quiet time at home and I don’t have any wrapping to do these days thank goodness - not my favourite thing - I’ve never been much good at it! I have decided after all to cook a turkey dinner though, mainly so I have a nice carcass afterwards to make the most delicious soup. I can’t think where this whole year has gone, the time has gone so quickly.

    Happy WOYWW,

  11. Oh I love mince pie ! I wasn't getting your Facebook posts so got caught up by going direct to your page and they look yummy. My ex MIL made the best but she never shared a recipe of any kind. It seems everyone is having the same holiday feelings. TIME it came so quickly this year. Enjoy the hustle, bustle in a few weeks we'll be working on your WOYWW anniversary ! Hugs and Merry, Merry !

  13. Hi Julia, I'm hoping to wrap pressies today though sadly I don't feel like it's going to be too brilliant this year for all kinds of reasons but.... I intend to try and sort some of those out and give my parents the happiest time I can because I know it could be worse. On a positive note I've finished my Christmas cards. Hope it's a happy woyww, Angela x17x

  14. Think I'll be leaving the rest of the wrapping till Friday morning! All presents have been bought tho so at least that is done, I cant stand the shops during the crush of last minute shoppers (my husband being one of those!). Ditto with the desk but luckily I have a large dinning room table to do it on....once its been cleared! 😂 Still eating our way though the mince pies hubby made and wishing it was Friday already. Our little boy is properly excited about Christmas this year so cant wait to start the holidays already!

    Merry Christmas!

  15. Hi Julia, I had to smile as the word shambles was one of my dad's favourites and it's not a word you hear so much of nowadays is it. If you were a little closer I'd be round like a shot for a mince pie and a cuppa! Hope you have a great Christmas,

  16. Just chuckling - I started my post with exactly the same words! None of my parcels and wrapped and some even waiting to be bought. Sending you a big Christmas hug and lots of love. xx Jo

  17. Hi Julia, bit of a shock how fast these last few weeks have gone. Panic now for all the things I still have left to do! This weekend will be spent delivering presents, I think. Smiling at the rogue embossing paste, isn't it odd how something suddenly appears you have no memory of? Have a fantastic Christmas, lots of love to you all, Shaz #5 XxXxXx

  18. I stop by for the last time this year to say hello and wish you happy holidays, and ooohhhh... I need a new calendar too. Should I buy one or make one? Grrr, no time for that I'm afraid... well, yellow stickies will do the job until then. Love from Holland, Marit #22

  19. Hi Julia. I'm sure everything will get done. I'm in relaxed mode - oops, sorry - just got the rest of the little notebook holders to make and wrap, make a chocolate sponge, pack a suitcase... then away on Christmas Eve! Id love that cuppa - but can't do mince pies, I'm afraid, 'cos of the fruit:-( Have a very special Christmas.
    Take care. God bless.

  20. I always wrap mine on the bed - lots of room..... then when it gets boring or I'm too tired to do anymore ....I must admit to filling the rest of the Christmas bags with presents and then adding tissue paper in the top........

I am plodding my way through it all, I am blessed by our girls that I have a no cook Christmas, just have to turn up!
Have a good one yourself, lots of love and laughter to you all.

  21. The best laid plans and all. Life is always more idyllic as we imagine it. I'll do wrapping on the floor to avoid this dilemma. Mind you, some of the boxes are so large, I couldn't do it on my desk even if I wanted to. Happy wrapping and Merry Christmas, Julia! See you again on boxing day if all goes well! zsuzsa #20

  22. Great desk, sorry to hear your planned wrapfest hasn't worked out the way you wanted. Now, I LOVE to wrap presents and have done all mine .. if you lived closer then I would be happy to wrap yours too! It wouldn't be the first time I've rented out those wrapping hands!

I'm so sorry I haven't been as active on WOYWW in 2018 but the resulting resting of the wrists seems to be working so I may return in 2019 - watch this space!

In the meantime, may I wish you and all of your fellow WOYWW-ers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

  23. I would love to stop by for a cuppa and a mince pie, just let me get my Private Jet (or PJ as we call them!) gassed up. . .LOL! I always do my wrapping on the floor, preferably with a cat helping to sit on the paper so it doesn't roll back onto the tube. . . I keep thinking that I have more time than I actually do "oh yes, you have LOTS of time, don't worry!" Then I realize exactly how much time I have and get into a bit of panic mode!

Wishing you all the best for a wonderful Christmas, Lindart #27

  24. HI Julia, well I am impressed you have room to wrap on your work desk. I sprawl way more than you do with gift wrap and take over the coffee table across the room up here for that kind of thing. but, the bulk of mine are wrapped I started at the end of last week and then felt better about the whole thing. I don't really have much to do left. Hope you get it all done soon. & Merry Christmas! ~Stacy #28

  25. Happy WOYWW! My desk looks organized and semi-clear, but I have tons of stuff on the floor and on some side tables. LOL I'm mostly ready for Christmas just some wrapping and tag making! Merry Christmas! Dorlene #29

  26. Hi Julia, well, I thought things were going swimmingly but then something came along to shatter that brief illusion. Now I'm like the proverbial swan - all serene looking on top and paddling like mad beneath. However, Christmas will come and go whether I'm ready or not - it inevitably does every year. I remember seeing and admiring your framed calendar before. Making a calendar layout is such a lovely idea. Have a wonderful week and a very Merry Christmas. Hugs, Elizabeth x #30

  27. Happy WOYWW. My craft room was looking tidy and emptier, until I started moving stuff out of the spare room nextdoor to get it ready for guests. Now I have my golf equipment, another tv (and I don't use mine anyway!) and other boxes/bags dumped by the door. Definitely looking forward to the 27th December when we get our house back, and I can get back to business/study/crafting. Ali x #31

  30. Seems most my wrapping takes place on the floor as my work desk just isn't big enough to cut the paper! At least I got all the gifts that had to be mailed out, now just for ours. Thanks for all the work you've done for keeping us linked and for drawing people together in a like cause! May you have a wonderful Christmas!
