What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 484

It's been wonderful to see your photos and posts from the Crop at the weekend, I really loved them all, and the feeling that I knew exactly what kind of a day was being had. Looked like fun and I'm not in any doubt at all that this WOYWW community is a success because of friendships.
Now on to the part of having a friend like me that you'll never understand... my 'working' method.

This is a very sad state of affairs. The 'new stash' and tool bag are still where they lay last week. I honestly haven't done anything crafty since, it's been a right old whirlwind. You don't often see this full frontal angle, so I've labelled. The three boxes are filled with inherited stash from Mary. It's mostly card blanks and A4 sheets. So it's a lot. The clear stamps in the blue drawersare perfectly at hand but very higgledy piggledy and need a better storage solution. But that isn't going to be sorted in the foreseeable, I can tell you! The cup clip is useless unless you have a tin or a cup without a handle. Mor often than not, I hang a bin bag from it! The mess of wrapping paper is usually stored in a long thin duffle-shaped bag. It happens to be a great bag for transporting my Scan&Cut, and as yesterday was S&C training morning, I emptied the bag and...well, you can see...apparently I don't need the chair! Just the sight of it is driving me mad, so today is tidy up time. Again. Sorry to be unproductive and boring. I look forward to your non boring desks, I can tell you.

  1. I was so busy linking Elizabeth and myself that I forgot to read the post. I love the labelling! you're not as unproductive as my desk... at least you have labels!! I hope we both get time to get back to it soon (or in my case, hope the laziness goes...)

  2. You at least have excuses why your desk is as it is and why you are not being productive. The circle of life takes you in a circle and nothing seems organized or motivating. In time things will be calm, you'll adjust, just have faith in having a sane life again. It gives me comfort in knowing we all have days like this. Best Wishes for a few days of fun.

  3. I need to learn how to label like this.. I love it hee hee! Julia it all looks very tidy to what I am surrounded with. Least you can see what it is and have an idea where it goes. I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone got up too at the Crop.
Good luck in the tidy up & hope you get that chair cleared asap for some much needed creative play.
Thank you for hosting & Happy WOYWW Hugs Tracey #4

  6. Good morning Julia, a scan & Cut workshop? That's what I need, and there is one running near me soon, but I'm away! Your desk looks, erm, lived in. Good luck with the tidy up, and then you can show us what you learned at the workshop! Believe it or not, my craft room has resembled your desk a couple of times - just dump everything and run! PS - love the labelling! Have a lovely week Heather xx #11

  7. Had it not been for Helen, I wouldn't be here today. It's the same problem as last week, but at least I have proof this time. I laughed at how you shared your desk this week. I hate to ask, but is some of that wrapping paper left over from Christmas? And doesn't the scan mat go with your new die cutter? Of course, after reading on a bit, it became obvious about the wrapping paper and the scanning mat. I hope you are learning all about your new die cutter.

  8. Love the labelling today! I like to see this view as it makes me feel better to know that my little craft place is not the only one that looks like this Lol! I have a few surprises on my own post today, it's been a great week full of pleasurable meetings. Happy woyww, Angela x13x

  9. Just wondering how you managed to write labels - great idea. It looks a mess but a few minutes of frantic action will soon put it right. We missed you on Saturday but hope we can make plans for the next one soon! xx Jo

  11. Really hope you had a wonderful time at the weekend and Mum is settling in to her new home. Love how you’ve managed to label up your pic....no idea how you do that so clever you. I’ve just spent the last hour trying to sign on to blogger on my iPad and failing....I could sign on on the lap top just not the iPad! 2 mins on the phone to my clever son and it’s sorted....where would I be without him?
    Hugs,

  12. If the weather is as dreary at your place as it is over here, this might be just the perfect day for storing and tidying your craft space Julia: good luck! Happy woyww and a big hug from Holland, Marit #18

  14. Hi Julia, loving this shot! Wrapping paper- storage nightmare. Until I discovered a Really Useful Box made for exactly this purpose. It's a little bit longer than rolls of paper, so I can throw tags/tape/pens in too. Not too high, so will slide under a bed easily, for instance. Hides the dust bunnies then too. Lol. Have a lovely week, Love & hugs to you, Shaz #8 XxXx

  15. Happy WOYWW and good luck with the tidy up. As you will see in my photos, I am in a far worse mess. Why I decided to start up the destash again when I haven't been too well and my mum is coming to visit tomorrow; well only my silly brain knows that! I want to sit and do some rock art, but it will be a while before that happens - and hubby announced last night that we might be off to Spain again sooner than planned (so then I have flights/accommodation/car hire etc to sort out). I really need some sunshine and Spanish food (and we are going to view south of Alicante this time as well). Ali x #21

  16. Hi Julia! Just know - we've all been there, and some of us are there now! I'm sure you will get it all sorted out (might I suggest a new bag for the wrapping papers?). Have a great week! Lindart #23

  17. PS: and I think we all have one of those useless "cup holders" - I use mine to hold my heat gun, luckily it's deep enough and made of metal. But I also remember using it at one time to hold a garbage bag. Lindart #23

  18. Good Morning Julia, OOh I had wondered about those cup holders but, I tend to have a coffee cup with a handle so, I have not ever caved and bought one. ( plus the plastic table is not clamp friendly either) but, handing a trash bag sounds like at least it gets used. :) (and you don't trip over a can on the floor)
Hopefully the cleaning goes quickly so you can be back to doing something more fun soon. I have been in hummingbird mode with my family the last few weeks and not really done much of anything so, I did toss together one quick card with stuff from the piles on the table. ~Stacy #24

  19. Ah wrapping paper.. i made with sewing machine and extra thick plastic a bag especially for mine and hangs in its spot. Ad its clear plastic you can find easily.. maybe LLJ can help out. I reinforced the top woth cardstock..
Wonderful wonderful day on Sat.. chilling today a tad weary.. just woke up from nap. Loads emails to catch up on.
Pray darling mum continues to settle well and your equilibrium is soon adjusting to closer location. Prayer hugs Shaz in Oz.x

  20. The labeling is great! Life does sometimes get in the way of the crafting and sorting doesnt it... can I confess, i like seeing the chaos - it makes me feel better about my own chaos (the bits of my room I dont show!). Thanks for hosting us all. Hope your Mum continues to settle well. Caro x (#19)

  21. I think you're very brave so I have given you some support with my photo ....
Don't want you to think you're alone cos you're NOT, there's lots of us looking at our craft rooms and thinking 'what the heck' and we don't have as much going on as you at the mo .....
Have a peaceful week my friend

  23. Thank you for the visit! Yes, I love my Typey and use it quite regularly - both for writing letters and for producing quotes, sayngs, etc for art journalling... It produces the 'authentic' look I often go for in journal spreads :)
    Happy WOYWW :)

  24. My desk might look good tonight but my neglected blog is evidence of its recent abandonment. Been doing no crafting so glad to get back with an easy task and the prompt of WOYWW. Thanks for that! Hope you settle back to work and your Mum is setting in to her new home. Have a good week. x #27

  25. Oh Julia, please can you show us/me how to do the labelling on photos? It is something I would love to be able to do and am always envious of other folks blogs when they do it. I think it is wonderful. (I also need to know how to link more than one photo together with another - hint hint)_
I think you look most organised and I so enjoyed the chuckle about the cup holder (marked 'useless'). I love a girl who speaks her own mind.
Just enjoy life, it is not compulsory to craft each week - thank goodness says one who finds it happening to her many many times.
Missed you last week but had a whale of a time and Jan worked her magic all day.
    Hugs, Neet xx
