What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 482

I snapped a pic on Tuesday late afternoon because there was light! The new roof has been covered in a tarpaulin to defend it against the worst of the weather and my word, that plunged my workroom into daytime darkness. All temporary and in a good cause!
From this angle the ATG gun looks huge doesn't it! Lovely Kathy asked if I use it much, and the answer is all the time. It's not heavy at all and it took a bit of getting used to, but it's what I look for as sticky, I really like it. I caved in and bought stronger readers too, but I don't think I need them really; my sight is affected on the right by the 'gunk' I have to put in my eye to keep it moist - it's a bit like vaseline and blurs my vision horribly. That and my eyes are 54 now, and that's not good for fussy cutting! So you can see the fifth re-make of a little card. Honestly, I'm finding them so difficult. The round acrylic thing is the lid for my glitter glue carousel (just behind it) and the basket at right is stuffed full with bags of sequins and random stuff that I just couldn't be bothered to put away properly.
Gentle Deskers, presently, my life is not especially my own and I know you will understand if I appear even more absent than of late. It's a family thing and family first huh. It will be a very relaxing and cheering thing to visit your desks at some point - so please join in! Put WOYWW in your post title so that we can find it easily, and post a link here. Or use #woyww on Instagram! Get me, swinging with the tech!

  1. Morning Julia. Yup - I had to give in a while ago and get stronger specs... but then I realised I hadn't had new ones for about five years - oops - seems my memory is going as well as my eye sight!! Hope the remakes work out in the end.
    Take care. God bless.

  2. Yes, family first... hope all is well; or will be well. Not only does the tape gun look big, so does the deckchair for your ipad/phone...! Have a good week. Helen #1

  4. I almost bought one of those guns a few years ago when a company was going out of business. But there was no tape in it, so I thought it was a worthless purchase. The tape gun was less than $10.00 (USD) and I was probably a fool to pass it up.

Family is ALWAYS first. That goes without saying. I hope all is OK, though. BTW, I'll be back next week to show my desk and maybe a rocker, too!

  5. Hi Julia, sometimes family get in the way of blogging but we're still glad they're here. I need one of those sticky gun things, look very useful. Have a great woyww, Angela x9x

  6. Family first all the way Julia you have done your bit by hosting for all our WOYWW(ers)... Sorry I couldn't make it last week but was camping in a field getting muddier and muddier, there were many that would have been very grateful for an extra tarpaulin to shelter from those very rainy days.
It's a pain when our eyes will not do the job we want them too.. I'm always losing my glasses even when they are perched on my head.
Look forward to making my way round everyone, Thank you for hosting & Happy WOYWW.

  7. Glad you have a roof over the extension now! Was wondering how things were going. Isn't it frustrating how some crafting projects are like drawing teeth? You'll get there.

  8. Hi Julia, A busy desk as always.

I have to use Systane UD Lubricant eye drops, for my artificial eye. I do have tear ducts, but during the hotter weather it can dry out and then the eyelid catches and can become sore. They say they are long lasting dry eye relief. They are preservative free (I think you can get some with preservatives)plastic vials, so easy to carry around. I wonder if they would be ok for you, then your vision wouldn't be affected, except for the few seconds it takes for you to use the vial up.

Hope everything with your family is ok.

    Hugs

  9. I think life likes to throw us a few challenges from time to time. I hope you have the energy to tackle each and every one and you win. Then extension sounds to be progressing well for you....it’s so exciting.
    Sending you biggest hugs,
    Annie x

  11. Hello Julia. Definitely family first. Please don't worry re visiting. I understand only too well how tricky it can all be. These days I am often remembering this time last year with mum. Despite all that happened I am sad she is no longer near me but at least she us safe and well cared for.
Had to give in after recent eye test and have new specs. Makes the fussy cutting easier though :-) Look after you as well. Hugs Anne x #15

  13. Totally relate to life not being my own Julia.. we are here to serve is my view ans be a blessing.
Hope family time is wondrously special.
Ditto on new glasses here also but must confess they adjusted to me quite quickly which was blessing. I used to have to gunk both eyes so know what you mean. I wonder if there is a less blurry option? If so pray you find it.. prayer hugs Shaz in Oz.x #17

  14. Hope all is well with the family Julia. You are right to put family first. Have you tried using your Brother Scan N Cut for fussy cutting? I often use the direct cut option for cutting out stamped images. Have a great week and hope to see you soon. Sarah #18

  15. Your desk is so clear and tidy. I too like the big ATG, but it's been out of refills for awhile. I forget or they are out of stock. I just now added it to my next online order. I think family issues really zap one, it's hard to visit when your spirits broken sometimes. Our minds are really not with it, just going thru the motions. Hoping the spirit will come back. Wishing you sunshine and happiness. May a little Magic drop by.

  17. Hi Julia, lol, that gun does indeed look gigantic. Cards that won't work are a real annoyance, aren't they?Like the readers, I need them these days too. Totally agree, family comes first, so do not worry, we will see you when we see you. Love and hugs, Shaz #6 XxXx

  18. That age thing creeps on ya doesn't it? Hope the family stuff sorts itself out. Seems to me there's always something that pulls me away from where I want to be. One day I'm gonna be a big pain in everyone's butt I'm sure so now is the time to stack up the brownie points I guess. So tempted by those ATG guns, must add to my ever growing list. Ooh, birthdays and xmas are on the horizon.......laugh not, I have to be prepared or I end up with bath sets from boots and I can't use them with my ancient skin. Happy Wednesday my dear xx

  19. Happy WOYWW. Yes, I second that you should be using your Scan n Cut for fussy cutting - that is mainly why we bought one! That ATG gun definitely looks too big for me. One of the small tape runners does me fine, or liquid glue - or my Xyron sticker maker - or in fact a cheap glue stick from The Works! Ali x #22

  20. Hi Julia, I keep looking to buy a tape gun then realise how hard it would be over here to get the refills!
I hate glasses, only use them for reading and crafting but they sometimes give me a headache if I have to take them on and off, ie playing Monopoly with GSs, ha,ha, I thought your desk looked very tidy this week!!!

yes, family ALWAYS first. Do what you need to do. We'll be here. quick pics on my blog this week in response to comments last week.

  23. Family matters, blogging, eh.. Hope things are all well.

I still prefer my liquid glue to adhesive tapes of any kind, simply put they allow me to wiggle if I make a mistake. Thankfully, my new room provides tons of light so maybe I can hold off on the new specs a bit longer!

  24. Family first for sure, you will find no complaints here! Your desk looks nice and tidy, I hope your card turns out the way you want it to! I have the pink gun as well, and I use it a lot, but I still also use a lot if UHU glue and Gel Medium. Here's hoping things turn out well, Lindart #30

  25. Your desk looks nice, Julia. I always have problems with my ATC; in fact right now it is out of service! However, it is great when it works! Have a great week! #33. I have been missing, sorry.

  26. There is plenty of light on your desk for sure. I use my ATC gun all the time until I run out of adhesive and forget to buy refills. LOL I didn't realize you were merging onto Instagram. I'll have to post next week. HEE HEE Have a great week. Dorlene #31

  27. Hi Julia, my 53 year old eyes are shouting 'bi-focals' at me only a pretty regular basis these days. I'm worried about the wibbly-wobbliness of them, but I know I'll succumb sooner rather than later. I spy a pink sponge on your desk! I bought a whole pack of these, but none of them lasted. Any care tips you're able to share? Visit when you can, family always comes first. Take care, Jo x

  30. Hi Julia, hope all is ok, family does indeed come first! Don't worry about visiting, we all understand! I've had glasses for a few years now for reading, and definitely need them for crafting! I hadn't thought of using the scan & Cut for fussy cutting. I do need to play and practice more on it! Have a lovely week Heather x #11

  31. I can totally identify with the need for stronger readers. I have a dozen 2.5s scattered around the house and at work - I can't read a blooming thing without them! Now I need them for the computer screen as well. Oh well, it's good to know it's not just me. It's nice to be back on WOYWW. It's like a loyal friend - always there waiting for us to return, should we miss a week or two (or in my case 4!) . Enjoy the last days of the summer, Julia! zsuzsa #24

  33. Please don't worry about stopping by mine at all Julia - family first for sure. I hope everything is OK. I have started getting headaches so wonder if it's time for an eye test - it must be about 3 years.

I've missed what happened to your roof!

  34. Getting older really sucks sometimes isn't it? It does has it's pro's too though... I know about family time - my beloved and I spend some quality time last week going for walks and such so I'm pretty late with my visit myself, it's almost weekend already! Enjoy, enjoy. Love from the Netherlands. Marit #20
