Bam! Straight into the business of the day! See the precarious looking balancing act of the glitter carousel...on top of its lid, in a tidy tray which is on top of some wood mounted stamps. The tip of the heat gun is supporting it all. Sigh. There's signs of Christmas card making. Not a lot, it has to be said, they aren't coming easily. I don't know if you know, but behind this desk is another worktop with the PC on it, which we use primarily for business. And blogging, because of the ridiculous situation with Blogger and iPad. Anyway, that means there are two seats in this room. In order to sit at the PC to type this very post, I had to move a bunch of stuff from one seat to another. Yesterday I attended a fun and useful Scan 'n' Cut 'training' workshop. So there you see the bag containing mats, cut papers, spare papers and a carrier bag with purchases, mostly just waiting (begging) to be put away. For once in a very very long time, the purchases are not for me. My niece wants to make a scrapbook for a friend. I will be hosting her starting session on Friday and hey, you can't successfully indoctrinate the next generation if you don't provide a goodie bag to start. Yikes. That makes me sound like the child catcher!
Show and tell, please do.
Leading the young 'uns astray, you crafty person, you :)
ReplyDeleteA very busy, ultra-filled desk... nothing new there!
Happy WOYWW :)
Claire no. 1 - yep, I made it!!!
Any excuse for crafty shopping... no doubt your niece will be hooked in no time! I so hope no harm comes to your piles on your desk.. one nudge and ...topple! have a creative day
ReplyDeleteI'm secretly wondering if there is another bag of crafty purchases containing the same for yourself as when ever I buy for someone else the temptation to buy for myself is very hard to resist. Nice piece of craft jenga in the corner, you'd make a great tight rope walker hee hee.
ReplyDeleteHave fun crafting with your Neice & Thank you for hosting WOYWW.
Hugs for the week Tracey #5(?)
Wow, that's a busy desk there, and precarious. Don't sneeze, or you will have an avalanche. Sounds as if you have planned a really fun time on Friday.

How lovely we are working in tandem once again, thankfully with our nieces and not the dreaded VAT
ReplyDeleteLynn xx 7
I hope you have as much fun with your niece as I did with Little Soldier!! Here's to smudgey fingers and lots of artwork....
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week, especially Friday.
Christine #08
Well, how lovely Friday will be for you both, I hope you have a great time together! The desk is magnificent, your balancing skills are worthy of a circus act 😉
ReplyDeleteHugs LLJ 9 xx
Hope you have fun on Friday passing on your skills. I’m back being creative on my desk today cos of the shortage of customers this week......I’m not complaining 😀
ReplyDeleteHugs,

That's so true about hooking others into crafting. I got my mother and cousin into it by letting them use some of my stamps, they loved it! The balancing items, it's clear you have done it before hehe!
ReplyDeleteEllie #10
Hi Julia, Child Catcher! think I've got it too. My cousin's daughter looks like she could be interested in arty stuff and at four yrs. old I think now is the time to catch her before her father wins her over (Science teacher)Lol! Steady on that desk today my friend. Happy woyww, Angela x12x
ReplyDeleteWhat a balancing act - are you aiming to go higher?! I have a wobbly pile of boxes that just keeps getting stuff piled on to it - as long as the top is flat I'll keep going!
ReplyDeleteHave a great time with your niece,
Diana x #15
Happy WOYWW. I too encourage anyone to try crafting, and my eldest granddaughter (who is 4) is already loving to draw and colour. She will eventually be lured into my craft room! Please remember that you cannot use that heat gun until the pile above it is removed! Ali x #16 (ps I will have some Christmas crafting to show next week)
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, So uif your hubby is at the work desk and you are at your crafting desk, do you have to move in unison, otherwise you'll hit each other like Dodgems?:) LOL
ReplyDeleteVery busy desk as always.
Happy WOYWW

Hi Julia, love the mountainous balancing act! And inciting the next gen of crafters too, go you. :) Hope you're enjoying the Scan n Cut workshops. Engineer for the boiler finally turned up, fixed it, then guess what? It went down again last night! So waiting for a second one coming tomorrow afternoon now. Darn. Love & hugs, Shaz #3 XxXx
ReplyDeleteYou have "Lots" on that desk. Snowflakes/Noel just came across that stack of seasonal stuff cleaning out the chest that contains most of the Christmas crafting for this house. I need an attitude adjustment or more sleep.
ReplyDeleteYou will enjoy the time spent with your niece, I had so much fun talking with mine this last weekend, reminiscing about our time shared way back when
I really like the DARK print you are using on this post. BOLD and I can easily read it. Have a great week
You always make me smile reading your 'explanation' at the desk photo... a childcatcher... mwaaahhhhaaaa.... but you ARE a collector of crafty people and there's nothing wrong with that. Enjoy your week Julia! Hug from Holland, Marit #20
ReplyDeleteJust call you an enabler. Sometimes that can be a good thing.
ReplyDeleteYou sure have that balancing act down to a science. Just don't sneeze or the entire tower will tumble over.
Christmas? I'm not even ready for Halloween!!! Or autumn. Or Labor Day.
What a great idea to include a goodie bag. When my DILs come over I kind of say "have at it" and they look like deers caught in headlight. I guess it can be overwhelming when you don't know where to start. Have a great week. Dorlene #26
ReplyDeletedon't bump the desk! LOL My desk is seldom piled - just don't look at the floor. :-D Have fun indoctrinating another member to the crafting bug! Creative Blessings! ~Kelly #27
ReplyDeleteIt's our role to introduce the youngsters to the finer things in life and crafting is certainly one of the best! xx Jo
ReplyDeleteSound like to me you will have fun, Julia! I loved it when my granddaughter was younger and scrapped with me. They grow up to fast and get too busy.
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW! #22
I had to agree with a previous comment to not bump your desk! Your desk does look like you gave a valiant effort! Have fun with your niece! Get her started right! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteCarol N #21
Had to smile at the balancing act you'd achieved. Sounds good to have been on the SnC day and to have stuff to put together the goodie bags - hope the scrapbook session goes well tomorrow. Thanks for sharing. Sorry I’m late commenting. Hope you have a good week. Hazel, WOYWW #17 x
ReplyDeleteA busy desk as always, Julia. Your chaos doesn’t quite match mine, though... One day I’ll get in there and sort it all out. One day, one day... I am glad you had fun at the workshop, and I’m always encouraged to hear of people encouraging the next generation of crafters. My godmother did it for me and I shall never forget it. Thank you for your comment - yesterday’s appt. went very well, and I did manage to see the HCA on the stoma team, complete with her broken wrist! She said one of the nurses will probably phone me in the next few days, but was grateful with my update, and being in on the consultation with the surgeon was very helpful too. It seems I may be herniating again (did I really go through all that for nothing...) as I’d suspected, but they can’t be sure until I’ve had a CT scan.
ReplyDeleteHappy belated WOYWW,

Somebody has to lead the next generation into temptation lol. Happy WOYWW. Sarah #19
