What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 478

478. 1st August. LLJ's birthday. Monumental statistics don't you think. Happy, happy birthday to you, Jan. Am in no doubt that you  will spend quite a lot of your day out and about. I'm already looking forward to next week for the photos! My desk is a familiar tip.
I've been toying with some Christmas cards. I haven't got very far and as you can see, haven't even bothered to pour embossing powder back into the safety of the jar before abandoning the desk. My lovely pockety craft bag (made by LLJ) is on the surface because I was rummaging through it late yesterday. After I had abandoned the crafting. I didn't find what I was looking for. The stack of Distress Inks (which were a gift from Darnell) are remnants of a previous card attempt. The one you can see is just stamped about a thousand times and cut into pieces. No good for a workshop....way too long a make for one card. Didn't even notice the stapler till now. Can only assume that Mr Dunnit has used it for work papers and found that space the only surface available in this room! I'll be back late from all the real life visiting today, so please don't be cross if I'm late to your place.
Share and tell please, it's what we do here.

  1. that really is an "in progress" photo... at least your un-put-back embossing powder is kind of safe in the tray - I never use mine as i always found it clung to the surface. Shame your Christmas card idea won't work for a workshop, back to the drawing board then?! Have a good time visiting your Mama and see you later.

  2. I have to put embossing powder away quickly or I'll make a mess for sure good on you for getting on with the Christmas cards hugs Nikki 2

  3. Good Morning Julia, there are many signs of creative action on your desk today. If I had left embossing powder lose someone would have surely drawn a smiley face in it!! That's the sense of humour around here.
At least Mr D put your stapler onto an area where you could find it.. he is very well trained :)
Well done on making a Christmas card start
Happy WOYWW and thank you for hosting Tracey #3

  4. Cannot believe I need to start thinking about the "C" word and getting going on the cards. Thanks for the timely reminder Julia. What a shame you have a brilliant idea but it won't work for a class. Seems I need to come down for the workshop to get me started on the "C" cards.
Love the LLJ bag, now that is a good idea because if it is sort of squishy it will be easy to use whereas the commercial ones are stiff and I find them not so easy to pack up as full as I want them to be. Gosh that's a bit rambling - maybe I had better go.

  5. Lol, thank you for the birthday wishes! My best present was Owen coming home for a couple of days, good to be all together. We will be out and about today, not sure where yet but it will involve a picnic 😊
I'm amazed that craft bag is still going...hope it continues to give you good service for many more years!
    Hugs, LLJ 8 xx

  6. Happy WOYWW - and thank you for reminding me of LLJ's birthday (some frantic belated cardmaking may occur later!). Embossing powder I love, but not the mess. I now do any embossing on a sheet of paper, and that simply tips the powder back into the pot. I had one of those trays, but the powder just loved it too much and refused to leave! Ali x #7

  7. Morning Julia. Hope you manage to save your embossing powder from utter disaster and get back to your Christmas thinking...
    Take care. God bless.

  8. I’m another one for whom it would be far too risky to leave embossing powder out and about, Julia. It would be all over the desk in no time! My goodness you are organised, thinking about “C” cards already. I like the stack of little blue circles... I look forward to seeing the results of all those nice papers on the desk! I hope you have a good day out and about.

    Happy WOYWW,

  9. Sorry to say my desk is rather boring this week because work has got in the way of anything creative but you will be pleased to hear I will be chilling until next Wednesday now 😀

  10. Hi Julia, desk looks good to me. So far I've made half a Christmas card but still can't get my head round doing them. I have to say that is very risky not replacing the embossing powder, I only have to look at it and it spills and ends up all over the place. Have a great woyww what ever you choose to do, Angela x17x

  11. Hi Julia, I'd have knocked that embossing powder on the floor by now. Or all over me.Shame about the card, it's amazing how long something that seems simple can take. Is that a pot of Dreamweaver stencil paste at the back? Pot look familiar. Enjoy all your 'real' visits today, we'll see you when we see you. Love & Hugs, Shaz XxX

  12. Morning Julia, do you run an anti static pad round that tray before you use it for embossing powder? I gave up using one as so much used to cling to mine. A very busy desk today! Have a great week. Sarah #19

  14. As my ceiling fan has barely been off these last few weeks I would have to get that powder put away pretty quick - learnt my lesson with gold leaf flakes several years ago! It's a shame your good idea can't be used for the class, I'm thinking it would make a fab Christmas Rose - was that the plan?
Hope you have a lovely day with your visiting,

  17. I admire a desk that is "a tip." Suggests either lots of activity at the desk or a great social life - win win really.
Its hard to settile into Christmas cards even when you know time will run out soon enough. Christmas in the summer is always bizarre. I lived in Australia for 6 years. Chocolate melted on the tree, snowmen, pine trees, reindeer and snowflakes all just looked too weird in 45 degree temperatures and cooking turkey and christmas pudding was way too hot. I leave my cards till its cold now and enjoy the mad rush.

  18. I hope you had a lovely day Julia, and didn't melt (temperatures are again rising today...) Your desk reminds me of the fact that I'm almost out of embossing powder. Although I don't use it much, I always have the black stuff for occasional embossing my stamped lettering... Happy woyww! Love from Holland, Marit #23

  20. Christmas card making in this heat? Is that helping with cooling off in this hot summer weather? The cut out circles do look intruding though, looking forward to see the end result. Have a fantastic day! xo Cheetarah WOYWW #30

  22. Hi Julia, I enjoy fussy cutting - often find it slows me down, quite therapeutic really - but I can see that it wouldn't work for a workshop. Always enjoy seeing the LLJ craft bag - pity you didn't find what you were looking for. Enjoy your day and have a great week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #31 (slacking again)

  23. Hi, Julia! Happy Wednesday! Seems like quite a few of us have been starting to think about Christmas cardmaking this past week. I, too, need to get the holiday juices flowing. I'm sorry this plan didn't work out for your workshop. That just means a far better idea is coming to you. Julie {#32}

  24. Your desk isn't a tip, Julia - just a sign of a busy crafter. As for the embossing powder, glad you haven't got a desk fan like mine because it would be all over the place by now - lol! Thanks for sharing. Hope you have a good day - Hazel, WOYWW #15 x

  25. Hi Julia, I won't be thinking of "C" cards for a while! If I left embossing powder out I would probably sneeze and it scatter everywhere! Sorry I have been AWOL ... I will try harder! And your desk is a work in progress desk... not a tip! Have a lovely week Heather x #34

  26. I have actually started my Christmas shopping Julia! I have two presents! I am feeling rather smug.

I would never be able to leave embossing powder out like that - not with a Mr Bear on the loose! Or a clumsy me.

I hope you are enjoying your real life visiting.

  27. Busy desk! I have my frequently used embossing powders in plastic tubs with lids so real easy to put away but a few are in jars. I keep forgetting about those. So I'm not the only one working on Christmas cards! Woo hoo! LOL!
Hope you enjoyed your visiting! Have a great week!

  28. I am totally grinning over the embossing powder being out Julia, that is totally something I would do. but, I have been better about putting it away with the fans blowing haha. I can totally get that the time factor for your class hopefully you can figure out a way to shave a little off of it. ~Stacy #36
