What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 392

Whoa! I've managed to impress myself with the amount of stuff that's on my desk.

Now I need to impress myself by the amount of tidying and straightening to be done quickly..I need the surface to be clear enough to make up workshop kits. I can't go on like this! Centre front is torn up pieces of old dictionary pages that had been painted with pearly green paint. Well, squirty ink that no longer squirts..I gather that too many of us know about this particularly annoying phenomenon. The very dictionary that I took the pages from is still sitting on the desk. Just behind that at left is a die cut border of snowflakes. I was going to use it to wrap around a small jar, but it was over complicating the original idea, so its in the 'discarded' position. Water colour pencils at left because I've been colouring some images that a friend stamped for me. As they aren't actually visible, you'll have to take my word for it and believe me, if they get turned into cards, I'll be sharing. It'll be a Christmas miracle. That gold ribbon behind the dictionary is wired. I rarely use wired ribbon and I have no idea why it's there. But it's using valuable push back
space, so that'll have to go, if little else!
Share your Christmas chaos will you? No one can make this feel or look better by comparison, but it helps to read that the detrimental effect of the season on a workspace isn't exclusively mine!

  2. Oh Dear Julia! It is a bit of a mess to be honest. Looks as if someone has been busy and just done the push, shove, push. Still, a busy desk is the mark of a true crafter and I think this week's offering puts you right up there with the best of them.
Good luck with the tidying so you can do the kits. Oh the joys of teaching.

  3. It's taken me all year to actually clear my desk to the point where I can see it (more than I can say for my dining room table at the moment!) So nice to see that your desk is filled with a good crafty mess! I am hoping to work my way back into the swing of things for the new year... in case the next few weeks get crazy, Merry Christmas to you!

  7. You ask for Christmas chaos and you've got it from me today. No projects to show as they are secret as yet but lots of evidence that I've been busy.....but now I too have to quickly tidy it all away as I have customers coming. I'm asking Santa to send me some tidy up elves for Christmas this year.....if they are like everything else at the mo and are BOGOF I'll send one to you.
    Hugs,

  8. OH I feel for you and your clean up. It's never ending and I have no solution. It would be nice if it was just desk clean up, but with me it gets to be the whole room. Looking for that one thing and finding so much more. I really like the twinkling bark star card in back, I just read your post on that and the variety of stars has made for a cute card. Plus I like the burlap twine you created on the jar in the other post. Nifty ! Nice to know some are actually using supplies and being creative. Have fun with the Christmas rush and enjoy a great week.

  9. Hi Julia, there is plenty of chaos at mine but as some of it is on the floor I manage to get away with it partly. I must have a clear out next year as I have kept stuff I will never use now, need to find some nice person to take it off my hands. Have a great woyww and a happy crafty week, Angela x 14 (interesting must be early today)!

  11. Chaos it may be, Julia, but it's an industrious and healthy desk! Lots going on. On occasion, when I've needed to, I've pulled the wire out of wired ribbon and then it's just ribbon.

    Happy WOYWW,

  12. I'm sorry Julia, but you might want to skip my desk photo this week... my desk is even more neat than ever... Aaawww. And I know all about 'annoying inks' (and a bad mood because of it.) Good luck creating space and happy woyww. Hug from Holland, Marit #19

  14. Hi Julia, smiling at the desk. Bit like mines been this week. Started on the book thing, then remembered I need a 21st birthday card for next week, so diverting myself for a while! Not got a date yet, bit annoyed tbh. But still, it is what it is. I'm sure you'll manage the Christmas miracle, lol. Hugs, Shaz #4 xxx

  15. I topped my bucket list for the best experience ever this week so Christmas is even further out of the virtual window. Resorted to bought cards as a result.

I have realised a few "ladies" would like this experience too but I guess most just don't ask and then it's not always possible or appropriate.

Nice to see your Christmas chaos, good job someone is Christmassy.

  17. Oh Julia, I do believe you thrive on chaos! I'm itching to come over there and clean everything up for you. So that you have an wide open surface to spread out on and create to your hearts content. Ah, that's what you need a maid specifically designed for tidying up the craft space in between projects, think of all the time you'd save! Alas, I'mnot much better this week, my desk is literally a dump site lol! Hugs!

  19. you wanna know what is funny? ( I always tend to notice the light in peoples rooms) and I love your glass that lets in the day light and this is the first time in all this time that I have "noticed" you do not have any table lamps on that desk of yours Julia. ( funny eh?)
Mine is mostly clean with a scatter of Christmas today. Happy Wednesday! ~Stacy # 24

  20. I use gold wire ribbon on Christmas gifts. But you are right, it is taking up room on your desk! I had cleaned my desk all up from Christmas projects, and now it is a mess again, or full. That is it, Julia! Your desk is full, not messy! LOL # 24

  21. I don't have Christmas chaos, just regular chaos and not much of it at that because I closed the desk lid (I didn't share it). I like seeing your desk piled high because it means you've been up to stuff. I know what you mean about the sprays that no longer spray.

  22. I haven't actually hit the Christmas chaos stage yet, that usually happens on the 23rd! This year I am going to cook the turkey on the 23rd (we eat on Christmas Day), then out to dinner, then look at the lights on houses, then home to read The Night Before Christmas, then stuff stockings. . .whew! And maybe even wrap pressies, but hopefully that will already be done. So what I do have to show you is some Christmas calm! You look like you have been very busy!! Lindart #26

Just managed to catch up. Dead jealous of your desk, and I noticed there are a few deskers with almost the same pictures!!
Have a good week and hope I have a better desk view next week.

  25. Thank you for your return visit, Julia and I'm so glad you enjoyed seeing my current projects. I am really enjoying doing the little album, and you are quite right, it's very absorbing! I just wish I had more time to spend up there, but we're into the season of a lot of meals out etc. now, and I'm pretty busy. So glad you enjoyed the teddies too - I love sitting in that room and seeing people smiling at them! They all have names and individual personalities. My hubby loves rescuing them from charity shops. He gave me a lovely big one when I was in hospital last year.

    Have a great week, Julia.

  28. Happy Belated WOYWW. I could not join in this week, as we went away to visit family. I am finally home and sitting down with laptop in front of the tv, so decided to have a nose and see what a few crafters are up to. My desks are fairly chaotic too, but sadly not with any crafting - although tomorrow I plan to get the only Christmas cards I am making this year at least started (for granddaughters, step daughter and step son, and hubby). At this rate I will just buy cards for them too! Ali x

  29. The kitchen table has to be cleared at least once daily so no chaos there. The lounge is an entirely different matter. It looks like we've been bombed or burgled or both! Chaos means creativity though so it's all good....until it's not.
