What's On Your workdesk? Wednesday 385

I'm in shock myself gentle Desker, this is really looking out of control! See, I've had a LOAD of drawers and boxes to clear from my Mama's collection. It all got a bit desperate yesterday when I had to try and do more than one thing at once, and so inevitably, I used my desk to just dump the bits I  intend to keep. I see my after lunch drink can which is very lazy. It's a blood orange fizzy, I'm really enjoying them at the mo. The empty box at right was to be saved because it's a useful size. But there's quite a lot to find room for now, so I suspect it will be a gonner. And then I'll need it, huh!
On the ipad stand is my first serious Christmas card of the year. I was hoping to be quite prolific about them this week, but time is against me. For now. Once this lot is tidied I'm going to be making some more.
Let's see your tidy and ordered work spaces then, you know you want to set the example! Put WOYWW in your blog title and link the post here, as usual. Great!

  3. Morning Julia. Well done on the first Christmas card. It won't take long to sort everything, then you will be back in production on the rest.
    Take care. God bless.

  4. Yes dear Julia your desk is a terrific mess. But I totally understand. It's been my life for over a month. Boxes..I swear they have some attachment to me. I've told myself all I can save is the white boxes, they seem rare and less of a collection would be had. Eventually we always get things organized but I wonder why in this stage of my life am I creating such a mess so often.
Have fun with the clean up and enjoy a great week. I do like the pretty Christmas card.

  7. you have already made double as much Christmas cards as I did, as I have done none yet lol. Is the empty box the issue, as I see it it can be part of the solution. Have a wonderful creative week, vicky 9

  10. How many times do we get rid of stuff only to find we've replaced it with more stuff. It's coming to something when visitors even say I don't remember you having so much stuff. In the office I can't even get near the window for stuff on the floor. It looks like rent a crowd. Oh crikey get me out of here :-(

  11. Hi Julia, I hope you can get your mum's things sorted and then get your craft area sorted so you can actually craft.

  12. I'm relieved to see your desk like this actually, makes me feel better as you will see when you visit mine. Hope you manage to get things sorted. Happy woyww, Angela x 17

  13. Now what is the difference between the two words "Cluttered" and "Busy"? I prefer to think your desk is "busy'. One good splurge forward and you will have this wrapped up neatly - only to find you need somewhere to "dump' more stuff.
Ah well, such is life ... Enjoy!

  15. Well I think you can be let off since you are busy sorting your Mama's stuff. I forced myself to sit at my desk and hence SAD light and actually made a card for a SWAP. I even did my blog post afterwards and scheduled it for midnight - not done that is AGEA! I even felt so much better I actually went to badminton last night and won 5 out of 6 games and came home on a high. Happy WOYWW BJ#21

  17. Loving your mess, Julia! I can't believe I managed to get #22 again - four weeks running! I guess, I'm posting around the same time, so perhaps it's not too surprising.

  19. Hi Julia - I can identify with your 'mess' :-) had to tidy up this morning ready for my three crafters later !!! It's all gone upstairs to 'the storeroom' as DH calls it :-) AKA the spare bedroom. That needs a good 'mucking out' Anne x #23

  20. Oops... I guess I am the one that sets the 'neat example', I certainly do that this week as my desk was never that clean and neat as today (sorry love!) Good luck sorting it all out ánd storing it... keep breathing Julia. Happy woyww and a big hug from Holland, Marit #24

  23. Happy WOYWW. I think we have all been saying for a while that a large quantity of Christmas cards will be made - I have done half of one! It is the same every year here - and last year I ended up buying charity cards to send out to most people. I may well do the same this year (I keep eyeing up the displays of cards whenever I am out shopping!). Good luck with getting that pile off the desk and somewhere else. Ali x #27

  25. Oh Julia just read your post below and oh that lamp stand is a beauty well worth the clean...
...and your desk re-ssembles mine all too off a teeny spot to work in and hte rest is dumping ground!
I am late in joining this week, a busy day out watch the migrating whales breaching over lunch with family.. it really is the migrating season here.... and may not make it next week, well see how I am after the test I have on Tuesday.. just a check I have been assured.:D

  26. Your desk look creative not messy! A couple of those Blood Orange Fizzes and you may not even notice all the tidying waiting to be done! Great job on getting a Christmas card done...still plenty of time to do more.

  29. Hey, my desk looks like that ALOT! More than I care for. I not only have me dumping things, but my dh and kids. If they don't know where it goes, it goes on my craft desk. ??? I also like to save useful sized boxes, especially with Christmas coming. I currently have quite the stash as I'm saving bigger ones as we clean to pack goodwill items into. The pile has moved at least 3 times. The next move will be to the recycle I'm sure. Your Christmas card is so elegant and beautiful! Love it. Have a blessed week. LisaDV #35

  30. Sorry Julia, no example setting on my desk, in fact I think I can easily match this! Squinting to see the card but my eyes can't quite make it! Have fun making more! Hugs, Chrisxx 35

  32. Hello!

My desk looked like yours last week - I've been steadily clearing it, only to then cover it with dies and then have to clear it again. And then cover it again with other stuff. I don't think I'm ever destined to have a clear desk to work at!

Hope you're keeping well, lovely lady....

  33. I'm sure there is a desk under there somewhere LOL
Not much you can do though Julia when "life" gets in the way.

  34. It's been a little while since I have posted - but here I am back again! Once again my desk is shrinking, and the mess is growing! Don't feel so bad, we are all there (or were there at some point!)It's the sign of a creative person! Lindart #43

  35. Hello Julia,

Oh, I can't wait until I have my own craft room so I can have an even messier desk than yours! Then I'll truly have something to share with other deskers!!

Can you believe I'm joining in the fun this week and will hopefully get in the groove once again to part of this amazing family! You and your pal, Jan, have truly kept us together.

    Much love,

    Kay

  36. Oh, I've totally made my desk a dumping ground too. There never seems to be enough flat surfaces when you need them! I'm sure you'll have it neat and straightened in no time. At ;east you've started on Christmas cards. I've only vaguely thought about them! eek!!

  37. I put a basket on the floor... ( to dump all the things into after I shoot them on the desk haha) and then do a major clean up about once a week. but, think of how good it will feel when you do have a square to work in again. :)

  38. Happy Wednesday! Your desk looks like mine did a few weeks ago... I think all us creative types run into this from time to time. ;) I hope you can get everything sorted and get back to crafting soon. Have a great week! Heather (waywardgypsy) #50? #51?

  39. Lovely scripty font on the Christmas card. I need to come up with my first seasonal projects for a workshop next week. Still too early for me really!

  40. Your desk is definitely looking somewhat chaotic, which really, is not always bad. You simply can't do anything until some control over it happens. Annoying, but necessary. Anyway, I'm not one to talk! I'm in a constant mess. Today my "desk" has decamped to the lounge :)
I did have to search to find your Christmas card :) Yes, I agree, nice font. And one more card than I've made :)

  41. You never know just how small an area of work desk will do for crafting - space is over rated anyhow! I always think you need lots and lots of 'stuff' to choose from to be really creative - don't you agree??

  42. It's always messiest before it's cleaned??? Sounds good anyway. You should have seen mine before I cleaned it. Oh boy. My trash got a load of scraps.

  43. Julia you seem to be doing the same sort of job I am - sorting out stamps and crafty stuff - except I am cleaning the stamps too! Like your Christmas card! I am far from getting up to that but I will have to start soon though otherwise I will doing them the day before Christmas which I said I will never do again! Huh!
Lots of hugs, can't wait for the crop!!!

  44. There's a fine line between a 'creative' desk and a messy one and I think this week you've definitely crossed it! I hope you soon get your Mama's collection sorted and you can get back to serious creating - you've achieved more than me, at least you have a Christmas card under your belt and it's gorgeous too!
Hope you have a good week,
