What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 360

The anniversary of WOYWW is on May 25th, it will be number 364. for goodness' sake.  I've finally made a page for the top of the blog and copied it into a post on Monday, so hopefully there'll be nothing to question about the ATC swap. If it's all as clear as mud, email me.

So, to the real reason for your visit - apart from linking of course!
Oh my gawd, this took me about 15 minutes! I was stencilling paste through the green stencil Ive washed that but as you can see, I haven't actually cleaned anything else. I used tweezers (bottom right) to add colour to the paste which I mixed on the glass mat, then swapped to my faithful old Jamba card to use as a spreader. (Jamba Juice is a smoothie bar, it's not the name of a special tool!). The heat gun is in place to quick dry the background over which I stencilled. The rest of the stuff on view is detritus. You can see also that I still haven't opened or put away the mini dies. (Bottom left)  The other stamps are out because I like them. The packets are awaiting a putting away session or return of the odd  stamp....I didn't conduct the workshop last week, but I did make up baskets and kits, so I still had control!
Join us won't you, for a look at other desks the world over, it's just fun. Link your blog post here, just make sure that you've got WOYWW in the title!

  2. Morning Julia. Trust you are doing well at this time. 15minutes, hey? That's impressive. Obviously loads of creativity going on at that time!
Take care. Thanks for the info re the anniversary swap - unfortunately I won't be able to join in this year - all being well, we will be away on the day where there is no internet access for us.
    God bless.

  4. I'm never certain what all the paper crafter bits and bobs get used for but I do like the look of that green stencily thing....it looks like a starry sky to me with my blurry eyes :-)
Have a good week my friend.

  6. Never made ATC's, might do it for the anniversary though. Should get started then, won't I? Ah, a sigh of relief, my desk is not the only one in a state. Jazzy name, a jamba card, betas the 'use an old credit card' Have a nice day, vicky

  7. Morning Julia
You made me laugh with the Jamba card thing not being a tool. I'd have been thinking what's one of them.
It's nice leaving new things on your desk for a while so you can admire them and ponder over what you will do with them before they get shoved in a draw never to see the light of day again until you find them by accident months later.
Hope you have a good week

  8. I finally figuered out what a Jamba card is.... you got me there for a bit!
I'm glad your desk is a mess. That's always a good sign.
Thank you for the instructions for the anniversary ATC swap. I'm pàrticipating this year and are already preparing ATCs.
I like your stencil (with the card symbols on it). I twill look great as a background.
Happy WOYWW and have a good week,

  9. Just as well you explained what a Jamba card was.. I was going to ask (there's always one!) I haven't ever made an ATC.. I'm feeling this is the time to start? I will try and see how I get on then see if they're good enough..so watch this space. Elaine.No. 11

  10. Hi Julia, I've never heard of stencil paste.

Hope you get more crafting time.

  11. Cleaning the paste off the stencil is the main thing to do (learnt from experience on that one!)...the rest doesn't need cleaning...it's all a work in progress :-)
Love that you also use shop freebies in crafting.... I am terrible, if they offer a free loyalty card (and I don't use them often) I ask to see the card....if it's a nice flexible plastic I say yes!!! Usually along with a handful of coffee stirrers on the way out....great glue spreaders :-)

  14. TaDa! I just spoke to a friend about work spaces...12x12 no matter the size of a desk. Thank You for helping me out on that. Love that dress stamp and your inspiration to get with it on using some of the new winnings I have. I've plenty of stencils. I will be finishing up some ATC's for the swap.
We are in the middle of heavy, heavy rain and wind. But tragic storms are to the south, with hopes they stay there. Have a wonderful week.

  15. It's always nice to get to come visit. Looks like you have been busy and the coloring of your products is very creative! I just always wind up using the white product. Very boring...I must remember to color from here on out!

  18. Do you know? I've never used texture paste with a stencil, only ever sponged ink through them. Really should give that a go, shouldn't I? You've reminded me that I have that pretty dress stamp. About time it got an inking again.

  19. I think it's so funny that no matter how much space we have, during the creative process most artists end up working in a very confined area. I think that creative chaos it's what makes it so much fun. Blessings!

  20. Hi Julia, Your desk looks reassuringly like mine - ie a little square in the middle left to work in but lots of fun going on! :o) Annie C #35

  34. Good morning Julia. I still love the mini dies that you picked up and the dress stamps is stunning. Looking at your desk makes me want to pull out my mixed media stuff and have a day of playing around making a mess. I do see somewhere a lady having a container of water to place her stencils in so she didn't have to run right away to clean then off while she played. I might try that next time I use mine but I am getting organized first and working out ideas to teach next month. Have a fantastic week. Hugs~Anne L#14

  36. Good morning, Miss Julia.
Sounds (and looks) as if you struck when the creativity iron was hot... or wet as the case may be. I bought a small plastic dish pan this week for putting my stencils into water as soon as I'm done with them. They got stained last week and my ocd kicked in that I was not happy with stained stencils LOL.

Good to hear you were at least up to having a part in the workshop. Go at your pace and the rest will follow. Hugs and Creative Blessings! Kelly #52

  37. that is my hands down favorite dress stamp, it is so much fun when you see people using the same tools you have right? :) I had tried the glitter paste and it has not body to it, ( dries flat) so, I ended up using some old dimensional paint and the tube rolled off the table and the end split. ( but, the plan is to try the glitter paste over the top of the dried paint later) :) (no photos yet, hopefully soon) ~Stacy #55

  40. Hi Julia, I love that stamp of the fabulous fifties dress. Jamba Juice sounds like a great name for a dance. I'm running really late but had a super long lunch with my grandson. That's my excuse and I can't think of a better one :)Have a good week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #40

  41. And in true crafter style you have worked yourself into about an 8-inch square space. Woo hoo to you! Lots of wonderful things on your desk so no need for embarrassment. We here for the piles! PJ & Dio #57

  42. Why clean when you can make art? I have that dress stamp, got it years ago and still love it bunches!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I often don't wash my stuff straight away - I do wash my stencils and my brushes but something like glass which is pretty durable can wait as far as I am concerned. Enjoy the playing not the cleaning. Love the blue and purple background you have on the extreme right.

  44. Love the stencilling, Julia. I've never heard of Jamba or a Jamba card so I'm not much the wiser really... never mind, as long as it works for you lol!! Thanks for the instructions for the ATC swap but I doubt if I'll be joining - I'm only just getting back into the swing of things art wise and I'm still very behind, with lots of other things demanding my attention in the studio and elsewhere. Still making progress in getting my life back! Hope you are doing OK.

    Happy WOYWW,

  45. Too funny about the Jamba Card; I would have wondered too. I love the stenciled samples, and in 15 minutes! that's amazing! I make such a mess when I have the paste out. Have a great week!

  46. Busy desk! I like the pink paste and stencil idea. Does it give it a nice, raised pattern? I have a lot of stamps hanging about just now too. I took out my favourites last Wednesday evening, for a card-making session at Craft Club. They're still sitting on the table, waiting to be put away (my excuse is that I haven't finished two of the cards!).
I like that dress stamp - you could do so many things with that.
It's so interesting to see the projects you create and all the stuff you use.
    Have a happy week!

  49. Hey Julia! Lot's going on there. Crafting, painting and creating would be a lot more fun if it wasn't for the cleaning ;-) Thanks for taking a peek at my space too!
    See you next week!

  50. My tools are also like that, I make sure my stencil or stamps are cleaned when using paint or texture paste but everything else is caked up in all sort of crafty mediums. Occasionally I have to go on a mega cleaning and scraping session. Then I promise myself I will keep them clean and then a few months down the line I am scraping and cleaning again lol. The wooden stamp is gorgeous. Sorry I am late again this week. Happy Woyww :-) Kezzy xxx
