What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 348

Stay with me on this..if you are already a Blogger blog writer, then changes won't, I don't think, stop you commenting. It is only commenting and following that you will be prevented from doing if you arent a Google+ account holder. You will stll be able to read this blog and the link thing oon Wednesdays will still work for you. My venture into Wordpress is merely another platform on which identical blog posts will show up. I'm not actually leaving Blogger. Unless they make it impossible to stay!

So this week, I've been crafting a bit and making a huge mess.
Seriously, everything is everywhere. I enjoyed it. Every time I go outside, I right the chairs and put them out of the wind. Then it changes direction and does this again! Ack! I took this on Tuesday, just after lunch. It's worse this morning; because I had book keeping to do and couldn't face tidying up. So I pushed back and worked atop the mess. Shocking, huh.
It will look like that for most of today; there's VAT and year end to be sorted. Gosh, how glamorous! Join in will you? Put WOYWW in your post title so we can find it easily. A photo of your desk and what you're doing on your  blog and link here. No blatant advertising please, this isn't meant to be a promotional spot, just join the community!

  1. well am linking here not on the other one as I couldn't see a link thing... my wheelie bins keep falling over, too... usually in the night which means they will be disturbing my neighbour who's bedroom is on the ground floor at the front where the bins are! good luck with the paperwork.. yuck!!

  2. I cant see a link on your other blog, just a comment section that you have to fill in all your details again. Boy thats a strong wind that blew your heavy chairs over, that would annoy me to heck. But being busy inside is a good distraction LOL

  3. Wind...fennel tea is meant to be good for that!!!
Seriously though it has been windy, as Helen says it's the bins blowing over. We live on a hill and i watched as a bin blew UP the hill and then towards my car....which spurred me to action!!

  4. Wow, book keeping! I'm glad my desk doesn't ever have to have stuff like that! I wouldn't know what to do! Pushing back and working atop the mess, aww, that sounds familiar! happy WOYWW!

  5. Good morning Mrs D
You and me both on the bookkeeping this week, I've moved onto my official office desk though.
And we are joined at the hips with the garden furniture thing as well. I'm just looking at mine which is just about to disappear over the wall again.
Not to worry, we'll back to the VAT return for me. Have a good day in Dunnit land.

Ps I keeping losing followers on blogger, eleven over the past week

  7. Yes, I heard about the Google + thing. Crazy. I've been with GooglePlus since I started blogging, not knowing what it was at the time. I don't use it and ignore any messages. If anyone comments on my blog I get an email message and that works for me.
End of year accounts. What a pain. I remember you doing them last year. I hope you get them sorted soon.
    Have a good week

  8. Taxes. Ugh. Finances are not conducive to creativity in my world. Not that it appears to have stopped you. Looks like you've had a fabulous time. I'm looking forward to some 'messy' crafts at the weekend x

  13. So glad I don't have the tax thing to worry about - would hate it. Ditto the garden furniture and wind though. I know there are changes re blogging but have to say I don't have a clue what it's all about - not stopped to take it in I guess. I know change is good but I wish they'd leave some things alone!!!! 15. Oh dear the tax thing. Memories of doing the books for a designer I worked for - she gave me all the receipts in a carrier bag! I don't understand about this google+ thing at all being a bit of a newbie. I will have to check things out. Hope it doesn't take too long to get the figures out of the way so you can get on with enjoyable stuff. have a good week x Jackie 22

  16. Oh dear, work always gets in the way of fun but I guess on your desk it's slightly the other way Lol! Windy here too, lets hope it stops soon. Happy woyww and happy crafting too when you get the chance, Angela x 24

  17. Good luck with the accounts - not one of the nicest jobs is it! I don't know anything about all the Google stuff, but I suppose that explains why I've lost a load of followers this last week.
    Have a good week,

  19. Hi Julia. Not playing (again) this week as caring for John is taking up an incredible amount of time - but thought I'd peek and see what was happening in blogland this week. Looks like I should be able to comment - although I'm not with google+.
Windy?? understatement. I went out last Friday to collect in our recycle bins about 10mins after they had been emptied - gone - disappeared - walked down the street - no sign!! Have had to ask the poor council for more - apparently so have most of Conwy Borough's residents!!!
Take care. I really will get back to blogging soon - I miss it.
    God bless.

I do enjoy cleaning it every now and again as I love the surprising things I find .... well, most of them!! lol

  22. I see NO SNOW...and noticed wind had to upset your chairs etc. I'm now ready for spring. So glad to be retired and not have to deal with YEAR END. My DH does all our farm paper work so I've been thankful. All I do is sign on the lines.
And now I hate computer changes....somehow my Chrome DISAPPEARED, had to work on that for 2 days and lost all my bookmarks. 10 of my followers have disappeared on the blog changes and so hope most can still comment.
Your desk does look like you are having some fun. Pretty cards and colors.
    Have a great week.

  24. Good morning, Julia, glad you've had time to play. It's handy that the book work is large enough to just go right on top when necessary. It's windy here this morning (upstate NY) and thankfully raining and not snowing. It's been that kind of winter (hurrah!) Thanks for being our hostess, lo these many weeks. Happy WOYWW from Laura #41

  25. Hi Julia, Google Chrome is telling me that it now won't update me because my operating system is too old, rather like me, I guess! I fear they must be in cahoots with Windows on this but I no intention of updating - it ain't broke so why mend it. I like the chaos on your desk, it makes me feel better about the stuff I've shoved to the side, out of sight but not forgotten :) So glad I don't have to do the year end accounts any longer, and I did it electronically too so you would have thought it would have been easier. No! Nothing makes it any less than the chore it really is. However, there is nothing quite like the relief when the job is done :) Have a great week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #39

  26. We've had quite some wind here in southern Arizona, U.S. Tore the lattice off our small porch at the back door. I think it's finally over for a while and we'll be warming up a bit.
I soon will be working on our taxes for last year. I hate it and now that hubby is self-employed it will take a lot longer to do.
Hope you get all done what's needed!

  27. What lovely mess, Miss Julia. Like you, it feels good to have a mess again... meaning we are doing what we love. You commented on the 'egg sponge' last week. I'd appreciate a visit and let me know if what I've explained today is what you (and a couple of others) were referring to. Creative Blessings! Kelly #43 (again this week? LOL)

  28. Hi Julia, I use gmail anyway and have found it quite good although I only use chrome for blogging as I couldn't get along with it for emailing.
I do get frustrated when first it asks if I'm a robot and then makes me tick pictures of food etc. Makes me want to give up

  29. Good morning Julia! I love a good ole crafty messy time at the desk, so go you. I've been thinking about going to Wordpress too, and I'm looking into it. Everyone says it's so much better, but I don't want to lose all my posts! Let us know how it goes. Happy Wednesday. Sandy Leigh

  31. I so know that frustrating feeling of having no empty work surface when you need it! Yes, the push back, just a step away from sweeping it all off the table, onto the floor, which I almost did yesterday in frustration. I used to have a wordpress blog before blogger, but I did not get on with it. Blogger is much easier to use and customize. Why are people so adverse to having a Google account, I wonder? Just curious... Will check out your other site! Happy WOYWW! zsuzsa #32

  32. Yes the wind blew our chairs and even a wooden bench over too. I just pushed back all the cr.. er crafts on my table so that I could snap my work today. I really must get a bit more tidying and sorting done - it's just that crafting gets in the way!! x Jo

The furniture on my patio often gets moved by foxes but recently the wind has been making a right din out there.

  35. So I was reading your post..and you said there was a VAT. I assume that means that horrid large paper you are doing book keeping with..but I am not familar with the term. To me, a vat is a large tub generally used in manufacturing. Like a vat of oil..LOL. Always fun to join in here so thanks for hosting!

  36. Oh no, not shocking at all, the layer-upon-layer effect . . . my desk needs to be excavated at times!

  37. As for working right in the middle of the pile--you are in good company here! I don't envy you any with paperwork and adult stuff. I hope you get time to play soon. I laughed at your chairs. I'm sure most people assume the wind had a hand in it but of course, I assume drunken debauchery! PJ #50

  38. This week I have a Good News Bad News post, and hopefully (due to the Bad News) I will be able to post on WOYWW more often!
Thankfully DH does anything to do with numbers - not my forte! I love your view - I don't have one. The flying chairs makes all the more interesting and fun!

  39. The thing with google plus is, I never agreed to it they just switched mine to it somehow after I got a smart phone and really the only thing that annoys me about it is after every blog post I get a pop up screen to "share" it to google plus, so the times I have let things be shared it doesn't really seem to matter. I have not picked up like strange stalkers or anything like that. Hopefully you are not going to be seeing any real changes either.

  40. Ah blogger. One day Google will rule the world and I want to stay on their good side. Wordpress- not so much. I find the mess very comforting!

  41. Hi Julia, It's amazing how little space we can use if we have to isn't it. I don't envy you the book keeping I would be keeping that under the desk lol. I spy something with poppies on (love them) and what looks like a gears embellished notebook. Hope you get back to your crafting soon. Hugs Lottie x

  47. Think I must have jet lag - or just plain old tiredness - couldn't think how to comment.
Even in CA, the sunny State, it was cold and windy at times and on Monday particularly so, and bins were blown about all over the place.
I think it is Wordpress I have problems commenting on so will stay where I am for the moment. Hope it does not get real bad.

  50. I fell asleep after you posted last night your desk looks very busy... on another side note the DH asked me if it was dirty desk wed doesn't get that we enjoy seeing the creative process of others plus its a fun way to get a peak at some new stash and ideas.

I can also pick up the pocket letter holders at a local store they come in packs of 8 for $2.00 plus shipping

  51. Nice to see a bit of sun out your window this week! I tried to figure out what all was on your desk, what you were working on before the boring bookkeeping took over. What is in that green spray bottle, a new spray ink? I have a Google + account so I'm okay. I worry this change will make it so we will lose followers who are not.

  52. Looks like the wind came inside too Julia ;) --- it's the same overhere: rain and storm... I am longing for Spring! Good luck working on 'the books' that's one of the most awful tasks I know... hope you can get back to craft real soon! Love from windy Holland, Marit #29

  53. I must say I do get fed up with Google, Julia. As a search engine it's marvellous, but I hate how they've taken over so much of the Internet and make horrible changes that we have no control over. I've got a Google+ account but never use it. I can't get my head around social networking and do all I want with blogging, email and forums. That's more than enough for me!

I seem to spend a lot of time doing accounts too, but I am fortunate in that my studio has a sectioned-off part which is my office. Gone are those awful days when my room had to combine both, which made neither function work properly and led to endless frustration! Money stuff is my least favourite activity (apart from spending it, of course!).

Thanks for your visit and your encouraging remark! Yes, I am feeling really enthusiastic about being creative again now. Glad you like my sewing machine! I agree that KnitterNatter is about right, meeting fortnightly. I can't cope health-wise with too many social commitments in one week, and it does give one a bit more time to work
    on things in between.

    Happy belated WOYWW,

  56. Hi Julia, Even though I'm terrible at hopping these days, I do love stopping in now and then. I saw this post and wanted to let you know that (as of now) Google isn't requiring that folks have a Google PLUS account, only that they have a plain Google account that most of us have had for years. It seems that a lot of people have followed us and commented on our blogs via Yahoo or some other service and it is those folks who are being dropped from our blogs and who are unable to comment on our blogs any longer.

All those folks have to do is take a minute to open a free Google account (again NOT the darn Google PLUS one!) and then - NOTE - they must also REfollow via the blue Join This Site button in order to get back on track.

I see your desk is as delightful and interesting as ever! A tornado outside and in! Miss you! Hugs, Darnell
