What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 347

I should draw your attention to the how and the why pages at the top of the blog in case you stumble upon this and wonder what's going on. I speak for everyone when I say that we'd love you to join in!
My desk, as I left it last night. I was about to start on some 'painting' with my H20s, but got distracted by a phone call and then I was distracted by crochet, an armchair and TV. It happens far more often than it should.
Desker Helen stamped the crazy birds for me, at a WOYWW crop which was probably much longer ago than I think. I'm just coming round to thinking that I'd quite like this set, now that I've actually used one of the images! You can see the tin is full of H20s, perfect storage for the non anal like me, but I'm sure it would drive a lot of you to distraction to have all the colours mixed up and not even listed! Can't remember why the glitter glue overspill holder is down from its shelf, in fact, until I looked at the photo, I'm not sure I even noticed it. It is sitting atop the new Spring collection catalogue from Gudrun Sjoden a swedish clothing designer. Inspiring designs at prices I can't afford, but the catalogues are marvellous! My trusty and favourite glasses feature too - they are the last-prescription-but-one and are perfect for screen use. They are not however, up to helping me craft any more. I am considering just getting new lenses for them. Now, if I promise to manage my time better and actually visit, will you join me? Photo your desk or work area, show us what you've got going on. Put WOYWW in your post title and link it here. Lovely.
Oh, and....I'm miffed about Blogger telling me that if you don't have a Google account they will prevent you from adding a comment soon. My response will help, promise.

  1. I am glad you are attempting to use the crazy birds (yes it's at least 3 crops ago, seeing as we had 2 last year...) if you want any more let me know!! I think they'll look great in Twinkling H2O's... ignore the distractions and get colouring.. That catalogue sounds interesting... collage fodder maybe?

  2. I get that too, start one thing and end up doing others and never finishing the first one. OH thanks for the reminder, I must use those stamps I bought last year too. Did you see they come with accessories? Can you believe I still cannot find my H20s which is still unpacked from the last move 2 years ago hahahaha. IPAD is missing!!! yes Blogger and Google must be in cohoots. I had a google account ages ago so no trouble for me.

  3. Your desk is pretty tidy. I am anxious to see the birds in full color. I've the set and need to get to using it. Not enough time in the day. Weather warming up so hope to be out and about. 3 days inside and I'm about to crawl the walls. And I too have been "looking" at big $ catalogs..to me it's ideas only. Have a wonderful week and Happy WOYWW

  4. H2o's...I had forgotten about them as painting medium, so sparkly. Think I will have to dust mine off!
Ah the ever growing presence and reliance of Google, my response would not be suitable for publication ;-)

  8. My life is full of distractions too [I don't mind if they are the paying type but they more than often aren't lol]. At least yesterday I got a job done yesterday that has been really needed for months and I'm a happy bunny now....if but rather achy!.
    Have a great week.

  10. Oh, the lure of the clothing and interiors catalogue. I spend so much time online looking at pretty photographs (just see today's post) but nothing beats the moment when the new Toast catalogue arrives and I can sit down with a cuppa to flick through and swoon at the styling!

    Enjoy your week.

  11. Love those crazy bird stamps and can see why you would want a set. I have just changed glasses and new prescription and at this rate I will be wearing coke bottom lenses in the next couple of years!!!

  12. I recognized the crazy birds immediately. They are great.
I've never heard of Gudrun whatsit, but I will have a little look on Google. Later on, First I'm going to the gym and when I come back I'll do some more desk hopping.
    Happy WOYWW day,

  13. Ah the interruption of creativity!!! .., here also card half made sitting on desk untouched for most of today, For our Wednesday is well and truly winding down. It's what makes it hard for me to comment or that's my excuse. :)

I'm totally miffed over blogger too as yesterday lost even more followers in one fell swoop, no idea why .. It's well after previous date of advertising loss.
Ah well, have to keep reminding myself it is a free service... For the mo.
At least an here for WOYWW this week so that's good.. Hugs Shaz in Oz.x #15

  15. I saw the Gudrun shop in London when we were there last year, the prints, styles and colours are wonderful. I like the the catalogues as well they are the same.
I'm still flipping clearing but get fed up by 3.30ish so start messing about then.
    Have a good week Julia

  17. Yes the Google commenting malarkey is a nightmare. I used to use blogspot but now wordpress for my account but when commenting using phone (like now) or ipad it won't let me comment using WordPress ID. So instead people if they click on my link get sent to my old blog and if I am lucky then go to the new blog. It's a real bind!
Rant over. I have resisted crazy birds so far but think they are fab. Have a good week.

  19. Have fun with your colouring (even if you do have the odd distraction to pursue THE craft for 2016 - according to the BBC).
I hate any time they start mucking around with anything to do with blogger grrrrrrrrrr.

  20. Love the little birdies, but more than that I love the glitter glue holder - what a great idea holding the bottles like that, ready to use - I think there's another project coming up to keep the hubs busy!

  24. Hi Julia, I'm back in the country and trying to catch-up with two weeks of being away but it was worth it. I too have those gorgeous birds and have to admit to not using them much and now Tim has brought out more in a smaller size so I had better do something with them. I know I am showing off but I hope you got chance to see the shrine I made that was featured in the Craft Stamper magazine, I am still bubbling over with excitement!
Have a great woyww and happy crafting, Angela xXx 29

  26. And I'm back - just about!! Still having problems one way and another. Still enough of that. I like the Gudrun range as well - but as you say a bit too expensive for me as well, Anne x #32

  27. I see everyone is mad keen for those birds, but they just don't do it for me. (So, of course, I wonder what's wrong with me.) But I DO love H2Os! I've not forgotten about them, and they are still one of my favourite colouring methods!
Hope you have a good week Julia :)

  28. HI Julia, aaaah getting distracted is one of my best things ... also proscrastination ... and general dithering ... I really annoy myself with it! You still manage to get loads done though - love those crazy birds :o) Happy WOYWWday! Annie C #36

  29. That's a great idea on how to test a stamp set, before deciding if you want to purchase it. I don't use a lot of stamps, so I'm super picky about what I'll purchase. Blessings!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Oh yes, I do love those birds! Helen was very kind to share. Like you I loved them when I used them but then I had a heck of a time finding them in stock to buy o I kinda gave up. Now I am struggling to do any real crafty stuff (other than knitting, which I can do on the go, in the car, waiting around in lines, etc) so I fear they would languish in my stash if I did buy them. {sigh}

So I am trying to get back in the swing of regular WOYWW. Will I manage more than a week? I do hope so I miss it so much!

    happy WOYWW

  34. Oh Julia--the whole month of January has been one big distraction for me. I can barely start let alone finish something. I'm going to end up with too many UFOs if this doesn't stop. Well I'm excited because I'm getting new glasses on Friday! Frames too. Can't wait. I still like my old frames so I'm going to have them made into just prescription readers. Sandy Leigh

  35. Good morning/good afternoon, Julia! I find I want to work at my table more when there is natural light -- hope you have time to paint your birds today. I find Tim's crazy birds tempting, especially since now there are dies and accessories and dies for those, too. Happy WOYWW!

  40. Sorry to be late on parade today Julia. I'm sure you'll enjoy using those crazy birds. They're great fun and I've seen some lovely Christmas cards made with them. My H2Os aren't sorted either. Actually very little is here to be honest. Whenever I start sorting out stuff just seems to get lost - I forget where I've put it. Barbxx

  41. Alas, yes I can also get easily distracted but once in the zone nothing much can drag me away from my wonderfully crazy inky-crafty-arty little world. I didn't like those birdies at first but they sure are growing on me ... that was until I saw all the divine Mr. Holtz's new products due here very soon and it will mean only one thing ... divorce or bankrupcy ... or both! Love to you dearest leader. Debbie #55

  42. Well, I done did it and joined in this week. I remember H2Os. I hemmed and hawed over selling them... I think I finally did since I didn't use them much to justify allowing them to take up space. Those birds! I had them but asked for their dies, accessories, accessory dies, and words for Christmas. Santa obliged but was boonswaggled by the cost. They are TOO much fun. I just recently picked them up off my desk to move on to other things.

  43. Have you ever tried to mix H2O's with regular watercolors? ( this is something I have been thinking about, have not tried it yet but, I cannot think of a reason it would not work so, its something I am going to do soon I think) :) oh yeah, if you have not caved on the birds yet, I think they are coming out with a different size of them soon...

  44. Julia, thanks for your comment on my blog. Here's my answer to you.

Yes, that is my SAD light,m but it's also good for crafting by. the first year I had it, I felt it really helped, but can't say it has since.

The little white circles have the letters on them that have worn off my keyboard. It's the best and cheapest way I have found to get over the problem. I've bought expensive keyboards and the letters have still worn off. I even bought a Logitech keyboard on the recommendation of Dell, when I complained that the second Dell keyboard had also lost the letters.

  45. Lol at LLJ's comment! Nice one. Your desk looks very interesting, Julia. I've got a few twinkling H2Os but find Perfect Pearls just as good if not better - I've made up a palette (one of Tim Holtz's plastic palettes with a lid) and use them like watercolours. I've used them quite a lot lately. The stickles glitter glues look nice in their box! I haven't got the crazy birds stamps. They keep bringing out new things and you feel you've just GOT to get them, don't you!!! Thanks for your visit and your lovely comment. I'm very much the same as you, which is why I rarely spend time just playing! Not having much energy or time to be creative, I'm always under pressure to "come up with the goods" but this year I'm determined to spend more time playing.

Glad you like the tea texts. I like experimenting with different lettering styles.

    Happy WOYWW,

  48. I have yet to succumb to those fun Crazy Birds. They are a hoot! And my storage of the H2Os would also drive some crazy. With my ankle I've been sitting in my chair a LOT. Hope you have a wonderful rest of the week and thanks for the visit! (And I must have missed the message about Google stopping non-Google comments.... Not good!)

  49. Happy WOYWW. Those crazy birds look well worth colouring with H20s. My granddaughter is the eldest of 2 (both of my stepkids are parents now!). Hubby was a dad at 23 and 26, and he is 4 years old older than me - so I just look far too young to be a nanna! Ali x #37
