Well thank you for asking...it's a bit messy but there is actually some work in progress. A minor miracle. I injured my wrist at the end of last week and have been splinted and off work. And bored. But the lack of use is working and my fingers are good to type now, so it's all good. And if you have me on your Facebook friends list - I'm sorry. I did whine; I felt sorry for myself. But I'm over it now, so it should be safe to look at your feed again!
It's a bit dull in here, the light's not ideal for this, but hey, we can see the main horror! An old book that I continue to use the pages from for inking and stamping upon projects. Sacrilege for some, fine for others. Better than sitting unused and unloved on the shelf of a charity shop if you ask me! The tree landscape is for a workshop next week..am dithering over the mount colours. That accounts for the spillage of gel and felt pens too. The tin is full of pieces of cut and dry foam, and you can see two ATG guns, rolls of tape and two pairs of scissors. Seriously, I have a problem. How marvellous! The little book with the house shape on it is actually an address book of Deskers...I promise it's in safe hands!
Come on then, join the others, share your desk, floor, lap table and views of what you're doing...we need to know. OK. I need to know. There are links at the top of this page to tell you how if you're contemplating for the first time...either way - jump in, we don't bite and the water's always bath warm!
Ohhhh. an address book of deskers. I hope I'm in there just incase you ever find yourself in the neighborhood of my desk!
ReplyDeleteSending lot s of healing light to your injury (no insult added!)

I don't think you whined much.. only once that I saw... glad the wrist is getting better. Always our dominant one, isn't it..though I suppose it would be (doh!) Great desk, love the spill of pens.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear of your mishap, hope it heals well. Is your outside table broken?...whodunnit? AHh old books for the thrift shop are my favourite as well. How many ATG guns do you need LOL
ReplyDeleteBridget #1
I broke my wrist nine years ago, and I can, and do, still whinge about it! And am still contemplating having the op to remove the metal pins, so you are more than entitled to a little more whinging.
ReplyDeleteYes, better to use old books than leave them to go mouldy on bookshelves, which is what often happens, sadly.
RosA # 10
Ha, I am just drooling over your old book. Perfect for art journaling! That is what I do with mine.
ReplyDeleteYour desk looks just fine and the place outside looks wonderful!
Happy WOYWW!
Cheers

The tree landscape is lovely! I can empathise with your dithering regarding mounting - I have many unfinished projects which hit the buffers due to dithering over the right bead, button or card to finish the job! I'm sure you'll choose something fab. The workshop sounds great, have a good one! :-)
ReplyDeleteHullo there Julia... well am sorry to hear of your wrist it can be incapacitating but glad it is on the mend..
ReplyDeleteAlways love your desk it always seem to smile at me .. with its wonderful outlook!!
And how nice is that book with the addresses of WOYWW-ers and the card to be.. what fab image, HAPPY WOYWW!!

Hi Julia, also sorry to hear about your wrist accident..never good but hope it's well and truly on the mend now. I do use old book pages but still find it difficult to do the first rip out of the book - suppose I should find one in the Op shop written in another language. Your desk is definitely not messy just busy. Enjoy your week Cheers RobynO#15
ReplyDeleteI stayed up until one in the morning, so I could post! LOL Is my address in your little book? I am sorry about your wrist, but glad you are on the mend. #18

Whining is allowed when you hurt. Sorry you have been dealing with this. Love your desk. those tape runners are impressive. I love the little whatsit thingy you have holding your glue bottle. very clever. Peg R 23
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you hurt yourself. I don't see you on Facebook (wanna be friends?)so I had no idea. Hope it heals quickly, Some time off work is nice but darn inconvenient if it's your own business.
ReplyDeleteNice busy desk. I hope you have the opportunity to do a bit more before you go back to work...
Have a good week,
Lisca#23

Hi Julia, sorry to hear about the wrist and hope it doesn't give you any bother in future. Like the idea of using the old book, you have prompted me to have a look at what I have before I send more to the charity shop. Have a good woyww and happy crafting, steadily.
ReplyDeleteAngela x 29
Glad you are able to use that wrist again! Have fun at coffee time and give Jan our love too! x Jo
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear of your wrist and very glad it is on the mend. I always love looking around on your desk and am amazed at those wonderful windows in front! Glenda #31
ReplyDeleteWish I had the forethought to save all the addresses sent to me by the deskers!!! Well done you.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you're up and running, although only the craft desk I hope.
Have a good week

ReplyDeleteGood to hear the wrist is on the mend - though I should milk for all its worth - don't want to risk it happenning again lifting planks of wood in the workshop!! Happy WOYWW, Cindy x
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, sorry to hear about your wrist - if it makes you feel any better I sliced my arm at the weekend and had to have 4 stitches it it, so you're not the only wounded one. These bodies just aren't durable enough! ha! Agree with you on the book, no point in it gathering dust or feeling lonely in a charity shop. I like the tree landscape, very pretty! Lyns #35

ReplyDeleteHi Julia, glad to hear your wrist is on the mend. It's a bit of a shocker when you discover how much you can't do as easily, isn't it? Funny, I still use my mouse left handed since I had my arm splinted, and thats 2 years or more ago now, lol. Love the treescape card- gorgeous colours. Hugs,Shaz xxx
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, Glad your wrist is improving. I get so frustrated when I have to wear my splint due to Carpal Tunnel, so totally sympathise.
ReplyDeleteSo not a little black book then?:) LOL
You take care.
Happy WOYWW

Here's to a speedy recovery lovely. Am glad your wrist is allowing you to do some stuff at least. Glad you are making use of the old book. I used to hate tearing into them but have got over that and am trying to do some book art! Take care Zo xx
ReplyDeleteOuch re the wrist. I too would be very bored! Hope it's soon completely recovered. Happy WOYWW Anne x @ 41
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear that you've injured your wrist Julia. I do hope it heals properly soon. The view from your desk is so peaceful. Happy WOYWW. Barb#33 xx
ReplyDeleteYou got a pink ATG gun! I do love mine, and it currently needs a refill. That's how much I love it. I also enjoy using pages from some old books I have for crafting. I dipped below and read your Tuesday blog. My lonely only daughter is 21 and just starting her senior year in college. No boyfriend by the sea. That sounds delightful! Prefers ice coffee, but really loves hot tea. She's at home today, knitting hats and working on her BookTube channel. Aren't daughters the best? I wish she had been twins! Hugs! Sandy Leigh
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of using an old book to stamp and do your distressing on. Do you ever use the pages for background on projects? Blessings!
ReplyDeleteGlad your wrist is getting better; being braced up is no fun!! Good luck with finishing the cards...looks good so far!
ReplyDeleteHi there juli, Not able to post as photos on ipad and mobile will not move to PC. My drop box is full. Why I do not know. But just wanted to say Hello. Spent 7 days in North Carolina on a mountaintop, 4000 ft,with 11 other women who I met online 6 years ago. we all tend to be multi media types. It was enormous fun. Alas the Boiled Books projects resulted in a massive dose of Poison Ivy for me. I am one itchy dame. Aparently it will take two week to go away. So meanwhile sorting out my stuff and will "scratch out" some art in my various incomplete projects.
ReplyDeleteHugs Monica
Hi Julia, sorry you've hurt your wrist and hope it's better soon. I'm not joining in WOYWW this week because my desk is bare and I'm feeling awful, midway through 1st week after a chemo treatment, but thought I'd just pop in and say hi.
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW,
Shoshi
Running a little late tjhis week. Glad to realize it's already Wednesday. A little loved is great. I bring those books home and can't cut them up! And I get them at our fair, which will be next week. Free donations Always enjoy that window view.
ReplyDeleteI think everyone who has a hurt owwie is entitled to whine just a but at least once, maybe with some wine too :) love the view out into your garden from your window so much Julia :)glad to hear you are feeling better. ~Stacy #48
ReplyDeleteI would be whiney too if I had a wrist injury and couldn't craft - many years ago I had RSI in both wrists and was banned from crafting and typing for 2 months - I was a right miserable wotsit but did get a lot of books read in that time. Look forward to seeing the card once it is completed. And sorry I haven't WOYWW in ages - hopefully I am back now
ReplyDeleteI don't think you whined much at all, Julia. Certainly no more than I do when writer's cramp is giving me grief and I can't craft. In fact, I'm so impressed that you've managed to type up a post at all for this week ... shows dedication above and beyond the call of duty! And your desk looks very busy despite the splint. Apologies for not being around for a few weeks - life and all that - but I'm hoping things will have quietened down now allowing me to participate fully again. Hugs, Elizabeth x #52
ReplyDeleteJust a quick answer to your question about the picture on my desk. My grandson and his partner are pictured with their newborn son, my great grandson, Callum John. Our local papers publish photos of all newborns in the area ... a lovely thing to do. Hugs, Elizabeth xx
ReplyDeleteGood to hear your wrist in on the mend. I'm sure being in the splint made things quite difficult. Your desk is interesting, especially the address book of deskers! I've been vacuuming and mopping today along with making a card for a challenge, finishing the gazebo, and other mundane things. Hope you have a great week!

Hope the wrist is better soon Julia.
ReplyDeleteTake care.

I hope your wrist heals quickly. I really like the colors of the background of the trees. Looks like you've really been at it. ;-)
ReplyDeleteApril
Glad to hear you are being good and resting as told, so hope you are carrying on with that for the rest of the week at least. You should be wining (note the missing 'h') whilst you have the time to do so, so sit back fill your glass and get those feet up and use the other hand for the glass.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Neet 25 xx
Ouch! Hope your wrist gets better soon. I love the tree card and the pink tape gun - my yellow one gets in a hopeless mess and I barely use it now - all the tape seems to slide about and become glued up! I hope you have a good week and are able to do some gentle crafting.
ReplyDeleteDiana #49
Always enjoy the view from your desk, looking out into your yard. Photos of desk are always great to see even if sunlight doesn't cooperate! I like the idea of having an old book to use for inking and stamping on. I see Pinterest photos of artists who draw of stamp on pages of books and color/watercolor them in. Tried it but not my thing. Enjoyed my visit, as always. Hope your wrist is better!
ReplyDeleteNo problem having an occasional whine or rant gets it off your chest and spreads it out in space. Which makes room for recovery. have a lovely week.
ReplyDeletesandra de #37
I'm so excited to finally join you again!
ReplyDeleteOhhhh... a bum wrist is no fun. I hurt my right wrist one time and it was so weak I couldn't drive with it. I drive a manual, so I'd have to reach over with my left hand to shift. Very awkward... and never mind all the crafting I couldn't do. I'm glad that is behind me now. I hope yours heals up soon. Thanks for the visit already! Judy #50
ReplyDeleteThat tree image looks great, wouldn't mind hearing what stamp it is (supposing it is a stamp?) the background has so many colours, I guess several mounts would work, each making the result different :) Perhaps whoever is in the workshop would like to dither over the same problem and the effects of that narrow line around the image... Hoping you have your hand back by now, happy belated woyww!

Morning Julia,
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting.
That candle is one the hubster bought for me.
I usually only use yankee candles but he though I might like this.
I have to admit it does smell glorious :) #30
