What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 306

Whaaaaaat? 306? Ouf. That means there's six weeks to go till our 6th Anniversary! Read about how we plan to share some of the things you find on our desks.

So my desk shows Tuesday afternoon. It has looked like this since Sunday. You can see...I was doing base preparations on a handful or two of ATCs. Yep, I'm trying to prepare.

My desk is now cleared of such pieces, so I took another pic this AM. Still a bit gloomy. For two reasons: I need the space for workshop counting and cutting today. And.....I slept on my ATC idea and don't like it. So those bases will be filed and I will have to start over. It's OK, I'm pretty sure I've got time *cough*.
So the mini cutter is balanced on top of my Copics. Out because I made some cards last weekend. The working space is cluttered by real life diary and a batch of cards I made at a workshop I attended last week. I'll tell more about that some other time. So you see..taking the ATC blanks away only reveals that I'm prepared to work on top of stuff rather than tidy up first! I wish I could use the excuse that I was so inspired, I just had to start. But that would be a big fib! I didn't stand on a chair to take this photo - just held my camera at arms length. And as y'all know when you're a six foot blonde like I am, this sort of photography is easy.
Now then, roll up and share what you're up to will ya. Show us your work surface and give us a bit of an explanation. We like it. Link here. We'll visit when we can!

  3. Woo hoo - do my eyes deceive me? Did I actually link in at #1? Score!

Boy, look at all of those ATC bases - if I didn't know better, I'd think you were planning to make cards for the whole lot of us!

6 weeks to prepare - why do I feel like that date is going to sneak up on my regardless of the early warning?

Have a happy day and come by and see my new goodies - woo hoo!

Ramona (on a linky high - lol!)

  4. I've been thinking about my anniversary atc's too... at 5am when I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep, mainly cos I was drawing out the bases on a sheet of card in my head. doh! Hope we both come up with some ideas soon!

  5. Hi Julia. Funny how our ideas change once we sleep on them. I got a very sweet card in the mail a few weeks ago.
Can you believe I'm joining in this week!
    Hugs,
    Kay

ATC planning, you are putting us to shame....not even thought about that yet!

  7. Working on top of stuff, on top of other stuff, on top of even more stuff is pretty normal around here :) But it can become hazardous, with piles toppling and stuff underneath becoming squashed, etc, etc ...
Hope you have some more ATC inspiration :)

  8. Hi Julia - have missed being here. Know all about stuff on top of stuff on top of stuff! :-) Have had a tidy up since though :-) Anne x @ 9

  9. I guess, I better get ready with my anniversary ATCs as well! Time has a way of just swooshing by so quickly! Happy WOYWW, Julia!

  10. I always say why tidy up when you can play instead? I honor your ability to balance a cutter though. I constantly drop mine and never knew where to put it. Happy #306 :) Shel@paperocotillostudio

  12. Hi Julia...G-Willickers - where did that 11 months go and now we'll all be losing sleep with ATC ideas running through our heads - wouldn't it be just cool to have the first idea just right and our ATCs made - mmm I think I'd better do some Pinterest searching. My desk layering generally happens to the sides of my main desk and onto the other chair and the floor - but I do strive to clear away after each project. Have a wonderful week Cheers RobynO#22

  13. Ha! Your "6 foot blonde" comment made me laugh! I was on tippy toes yesterday for my desk shot as there wasn't an available chair to stand on and I couldn't be bothered to get one from the kitchen.

  14. Are we really that close to the 6th anniversery already? Aaarghhh... I hope to find time to make at least one ATC, 'cause I like this annual party and swap so much. At least one ATC, that's doable... Happy crafting Julia, and have a great day. Marit #27

  15. I do work on top of other stuff, although I try not to but the alternative tends to be working off my lap which also has its problems.
Hope some ATC inspiration arrives for you without you losing too much sleep.

Hope you have a good day.

  17. Hi Julia. I've been working on ATCs too but not shared that pic today :-) Do you know names and numbers of those coming to the WOYWW workshop yet? If so how hard would it be to let me know so I could put their ATCs in envelopes with their names on them to send to you before the crop? At least then all you would need to do is let them help themselves to them on the day[I'm trying not to make it another job for you to do but to save money on postage].
    Hugs,

  20. Morning Julia, organised chaos I see!! Genius at work obviously!! I tend to push my piles to the sides and end up with stuff falling on the floor around my chair!... not to mention the sticky tapes, glitter, tiny scraps of paper and bits of ribbon stuck to my cardigan! I like to call it mobile crafting!
Wishing you much inspiration (and me!) for those ATCs :)

  22. That's a lot of ATC blanks which I'm sure will come in handy at another time. I have a whole stack of them in a box some complete with backgrounds ready to go. Sorry I've not been around for the last couple of blog hops. Anita #38

  23. Hey careful now I am a natural blonde and I am not tall either. Love the desk shot and the overlay of stamping. Hope you have a wonderful week.

  24. Morning you stunning blonde!
I've started working on ideas for my ATC's - again I'm pretty sure I have time *ahem!*
    Thanks for hosting x

  25. I don't mind a messy desk at all if it is somewhere else. My problem is I can never find anything when my desk looks like that. I lost a die 8 months ago and I still look for it. I must have trashed it during that mess. So I try and keep mine straight.

  26. Love your desk ..... love that you have a mini cutter on it ..... broke mine last week and, as I have had it since the year dot, I have no idea where to buy a new one ..... hint, hint!
    Have a good week.

  27. Here's my cap Julia... it's been ages since I joined in with the linky but I've been peeking ;D
You can't help it if you're nosy like me. Anyway great to see your busy desk and how brilliant that your anniversary is coming up once again. Wow how time flys by.
Hopefully you're not melting in your temperature this week. We wouldn't mind if you'd blow some up our way.
Share nice an all that ;D
Happy WOYWW and thanks for providing this great linky.

  28. Hi Julia- ATC planning! Aaargh! Panic setting in now. I have a vague idea, actually that comment sums up most of my life, lol. Need to put some pressure on it, I will not be doing them all in the last week, she says with fingers well & truly crossed. Huge Hugs, Shaz xx

  29. Lots of ATC paper, I bet you will be making a ton of them! I had to crack up with the "layered" desk, sorta like going out on an archeological dig in miniature? My stamping desk is also my work desk, so I know the feeling! Winnie #48

  30. You are one creative six foot blonde! I actually love that you shared how you made all the bases, then slept on it, and had to toss them. That's what true creatives do! And I bet your ATC idea will be amazing. And there's so many times I just keep working on top of my mess too--why keep clearing off! But then that leads to a big clean-up reorganization afternoon. *sigh*

  32. This will be my first time participating in an ATC swap and I'm looking forward to it!!! I normally stage my work for photos. I have three work areas which can't even be seen most of the time because of supplies and creations layered all over them. Somewhere on my blog are photos of the awesome cabinets that the HH built for me, so there is one photo on record of the space when it's tidy. LOL Off to think about ATCs. Have a great week, Julia. :)

  33. Everything else you wrote has been lost by me, all I can think about is you as a six foot blonde with super long arms...I am not blonde, but I am six foot with super long arms..did I somehow take your photo? Cx #55

  34. it is so hard to take photos with a camera on a tripod and get this angle so a long time ago when you mentioned you held it above your head I thought... OK you need practice with your cell phone camera anyways so, I have switched my WOYWW shots to cell phone shots months ago... (not quite 6' blonde here lol) the hard part is not shaking while you try to reach a finger to the top to make it shoot. lol ~Stacy

  35. Do you mind me asking what brand your mini cutter is Julia? I've been looking at them on Amazon (cos I sometimes get vouchers through when I do surveys) and there are so many and so many confusing reviews. I was looking for a smaller one to keep indoors but don't know which to get.

Thanks for the heads up about the ATC's too - I will try and get bum in gear to take part this year!

  37. You 6' tall? Well, I am nearly there - almost - and blonde (well sort of greyish blonde).
I have one of those mini cutters and I love it, my favourite grab it one when I have something small enough to put in it. Wish I had the big one too. Yours is a prettier colour than mine (and cleaner)
Just keep going with those atc's and I must start mine.

  39. I've been thinking about the ATCs too, Julia ... but that's as far as I've got! Six weeks - plenty of time! As someone who is not 6' tall, I wish, or a blonde for that matter, again, I wish, I would definitely have to stand on a chair to take that photo.I have your guillotine's orange cousin ... it's perfect for trimming the small stuff. Have a great week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #58

  40. I've tried the balancing things on top of things and it just doesn't work for me, kinda makes me crazy. :-)

Of course you have plenty of time for those ATCs, there's always plenty of time, right?

    Happy woyww and happy creating!

  42. I am hoping that our silly post office strike will not effect my post to you. (Been going on since Sept last year) Best I get a wiggle on so you can hand them out for me at the gathering.

  43. I like that the rejected pile of ATC blanks were just covering up a bunch of stuff underneath. I'm pro pile it and leave it! I didn't WOYWW this week. The desk was just more of the same and I don't have a lot of time for visiting. Had to stop by to see you though! PJ

  51. Amazing to be able to take a picture of your desk like that without standing on a chair!! I have to get my little step ladder out lol! Hope the ATC project goes well.

Thank you for your lovely comment - yes, I am blessed indeed to have such great friends who have been really helpful in the early days. My recovery is going well apart from some skin irritation which I have seen the stoma nurse about, and hopefully will soon clear up. I had my histology results on Monday and unfortunately the news isn't quite what I'd hoped - it was a very aggressive cancer that had invaded the whole bowel wall and migrated to one lymph node, and although they took all that away, I still have to have some chemotherapy. I've got my first oncology appointment on 5th May and we'll see what she says. I am hoping it won't make me feel too poorly as I feel I've been through quite enough lately - although it's a small price to pay for survival, isn't it!
