What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 294

Well, after all that clearing up, I deserve to bore you to death, so today you get a twofer! Laydeees and Jellyspoons.....my Scrap Box.  Colour divided, standing to attention and looking slightly glorious.  And a little anal.  But I LIKE it!

And I've changed the pen holder to erm, another one.  The space in the corner is properly employed as home for stamp cleaner, tin o'sponges and such and my desk is therefore feeling a little bigger...

Although I'm not sure you can tell that from here. Am fooling about with some ideas that rather inevitably don't look as I thought they would and generally trying to get in the swing of 'being creative' *snort*.
Show us how your creative juices are then will ya..show and tell about your desk or work area, it would be nice. Put WOYWW in your post title and link here so that we can visit. Ta.

  2. Oh Julia, I love your anal scrap box and your new cleaner corner. Good for you. I think you did a fantastic job.

However, I'm also glad to see you are being creative, or at least working at it.

  3. Your reorganised scrap box looks very useful. Colour coding is the way to go, I reckon. But I'm interested in the glitter glue storage above. Wouldn't mind a close up :)?
    Have a good week,

  5. Now I know where I am going wrong - my scrap box is full of little scraps, not lovely big bits of card and paper like yours... time to go through it again I think... Your desk does look bigger today.. Hope you get time to play there!

  7. See, I always say a good clean up gets the creativity going... so I did the clean up... now waiting for mojo to turn up!! LOL Looking good, feels so good when you get around to doing the complete tidy and know what you have.

  8. Well done as that is a mahoosive box of scraps. I agree that colour themes seems to work best for sorting it all out.

  9. As crafters, I don't think our "organization" is ever complete! We constant putz around with this or that, shuffle things around, change our minds, etc. It's just as much a work in progress as anything we make!!! LOL!! The point is for YOU to be comfortable in your space. As long as that happens, you're golden. So enjoy!

  19. Well that is one tidy scrap box, mine are kind of filed in colour in one of the cubby holes of my tall shelf unit. Every so often I give the leftovers to my nieces to use. Loving the twofer as we get to see more of your space. Oh and you need pen pots, as many as you wish lovely! Take care Zo xx 32

  20. That is a bit obsessive with the scrap box, can you come here and do mine too. wow tabulated and all, this is a real shocker. The desk looks good but it looks dark and dismal outside.

    Happy Wednesday

  21. Thanks for sharing your desk each week Julia...I might just take some inspiration and sort my scrap boxes into just one....I think it would be a little more helpful!

  22. Those little birds on a wire look cute, even if it isn't looking the way you thought! Congrats on the scrapbox!

  23. The scrap box looks amazingly tidy and look at all that space on your desk.
You seem to have an awful lot of pegs over on the right-hand side...is that just because you have found them during tidying and have gathered them together or have you some fabulous project in mind?

  24. Just read your questions to me. The drawers are lightweight and the items in the drawer are pretty much wedged in on the left side. The ones on the right side don't seem to go anywhere, and the keys are too heavy to move around.

The drawer that bothers me is the one above, where I have all my plain color thread on round spools stored. They DO roll around, and that is the real problem that bothers me.

I have NO idea how many rocking horses I have. The last time I counted, I stopped at 450. I've been collecting them since 1982, so that's not too bad for all those years. Like today, I showed ONE candle holder that has THREE horses on it. So, of course, I count them as three. I have mugs, candles, stained glass, stocking holders, stockings, candle holders, plant holders, music boxes, and ceramic horses, in addition to the various brass, wooden, and fabric horses. Seems people have given me horses ever since they learned I collected them. Also, I have been given a LOT of them from my friends at WOYWW. BTW, I forgot the two stamps I've been gifted with, too!

I have a friend who collects them, too. She has some that are out of this world. Hers are high dollar rockers, though, and mostly mantle sized. More than you EVER wanted to know, I'm sure.

Will be sharing it for public humiliation at some point so get your chuckle muscles ready and prepare to pat me on the shoulder and go "there, there Debbie, at least you had a go!" LOVE your organised box of stuff and LOVE the instantly recognisable upside down Glossy Accents - one of my favourite products! Happy WOYWW'ing dear leader. Love Debbie #47 xXx

  34. Morning Julia! Well personally I'm all in favour of anal (vis a vis colour coding of course!) as I am like that myself. Gotta get me one of those scrap boxes - or would it just encourage me to keep more? Like you I am revelling in a bit of extra space this week after a mini re-organisation. And what is that stripey paper I see to the left? It looks remarkably like my ipad cover, but that doesn't look like your ipad.....Have a good Wednesday, Cindyx

  37. Well done Julia!
That paper just looks sooo good, I won't ask for how long!?!?!
My paper/card - filed by colour - resides in a filing drawer at the side of my desk., but I only really use the papers in the expanding file on the floor on the other side of my desk. I guess I organised my papers twice!!!! lol

Thanks for hosting ua all again.

  38. It sounds like Spring cleaning came early to your work desk, and it looks great. I believe reorganizing also helps us recharge creatively as we rediscover materials and tools we have in our arsenals. Blessings, my friend!

  39. I've never seen such organized scraps before, even mine aren't anywhere near that good! Nice to have some extra desk space, more for you to mess up!

  40. I am very impressed with that scrap box! I think it must have taken gargantuan self-discipline to organize it --- it would have done for me! Stick out your chest -- well done! (my scrap box is cringing in shame under the table after seeing yours; perhaps I should join it!) Thanks for hosting WOYWW as always. (slinking away while casting shamed glances at my scrap box)

  41. Hi Julia, that's so strange, I've been building up to a sort out in my room and was just thinking that today's the day to make a start - must be something in the air! Have fun messing it all up again! :o) Annie C #61

  45. Well done, well done, well done!

(After visiting a few desks last week, the theme seemed to be "time to tidy." It gave me the nerve to approach my messy art room, and actually made a few inroads.)

But today I'm working on making it messy again . . .

  46. Look at you all organized and stuff! LOL Love how you've organized your scraps. I've determined you are a 'flipper'... like me. You don't like to dig for things. Rather, a filing system might be your better option. That's one of the things I'll cover in my class this fall. Creative Blessings! Kelly #70

  47. Hi Julia, I sorted all my scraps into colours, put them in a drawer right behind me so I'd use them, and there is still more than when I started. I just never seem to have the right sized piece. Love your tidying though. Looking good. Hugs, Shaz xxx

    ReplyDelete
  48. I am glad you go all that sorted to your satisfaction Julia :) Now you can get on to making that cute bird on a wire thing :) Creating is more fun then organizing I think!

  49. Ooh, lovely dividers in your scrap box! I *can* see how you've got more breathing room on your desk. I'm about in the mood to sort my scraps, too. I've got neutral card stock in one drawer, but too many of the scraps are too small to be useful. Then I've got patterned paper scraps in another drawer. Need to go through and toss some. 53. I'm back again this week... You and your blog are becoming a bit of an OBSESSION for me ( in a good way!)... I love your scrapbox organization... probably because it's a lot loke the one Ihave happening, except I keep my scraps in large plastic zip-bags sorted by bits that are complementary so I can grab a bag and make a card... it works for me! Thanks again for sharing your lovely space... Lynne #74

  66. Happy WOYWW. Well, it is past 9 pm and I am only just getting round to doing some commenting. I cannot remember how I used to blog/comment every Wednesday! Loving your newly tidy desk.
