What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 288

Well, I read on someone's desk post once that it has to get worse before it gets better...and never was that more true than here in my workroom.  There are signs of disorganisation coupled with panic over Christmas. And work. And birthdays.  It's not a great look....
There's the stylised reindeer on a gift box which is a project for a workshop on Thursday.  It is sitting on a sheet of paper bearing score and measure instructions which I will photocopy for workshopeers.  This should make it a very easy gift box to repeat....thanks to Sylvie on Pinterest. (search gift boxes....).  There's so much stuff that I can't see most of it...but isn't it reassuring to see the face of the WOYWW Alien patiently watching over it all!  But wait, there's worse to come...turn left..
Would you just look at that box of scraps.  Really, someone needs to get a grip.  That is supposed to be my die cutting station.  If I took the Big Shot out of the picture, you would be forgiven for thinking that I was just dumping stuff randomly....
But fret not gentle Desker...it will all be in hand, I am monumentally sick of it and actually relish the idea of sorting through it - I think it will go a long way to calming my panic if my working area is calm too! And although I haven't decorated or put up a tree, I have at least got something festive in my room - get a load of my bin bag!
Well now, no doubt you can do way better than this in terms of tidy, calm, organised, and we'd very much like to see what's going on at your work space. Put WOYWW in your post title and link here so that we can come and admire, please!

  4. Great bag... I am not commenting about the better/worse thing though I do want to have a jolly good tidy up before the big day!! Good luck with clearing that box of scraps (mine is nearly as high!)

  5. It gets a lot worse before it gets a lot better - I think a lot of us can relate to that right about now! We are preparing the house for Christmas and it looks like a hurricane hit...

Enjoyed the peek into your world! Hope you have a wonderful week!

  7. My desk is the only part of the house that has anything remotely Christmassy on it! Life is really fast paced at the moment so not got the decor up yet though I usually do it on the 1st!

  8. Julia I'm sure once you have time you'll have the time to sort your scraps. The ho ho bag is great just the perfect size for presents :) hugs Nikki 1

  11. And there you all are reigning over this devastation. Sorry, but it is a bit of a mix up of stuff. Enjoy the tidying up and I must say I "love" the picture of you all.

  13. Have fun sorting and tidying my friend. Love the bin bag. Just to make you feel better....when I came home yesterday lunchtime with my twinnie munchkins in tow to let our dogs out Sam walked into my sewing room and said......" Oh Nanny that's messy...don't you have a hoover?"!!!! As they say out of the mouths of babes :-)

  15. Oh yes, now that is one very festive bin bag! LOL Amazing how your room can end up like that so easily, it just happens and then you have to take a break and sort it out or go nuts! Hope you can find an hour or two in your busy schedule... still loving the gift box!

  16. I can't comment on the state of your desk or any of your makings as the photos are not appearing for me! I have word verification on my blog (despite saying "NO" to it!!) and it looks like you do too. Blogger is not my friend this week. Boo!

  17. That is one very impressive bin, functional and tasty looking :) It's not a true mess until you can't reach the desk for stuff on the floor, so you have a long way to go yet. Love the pic on your wall.
This is my last week for the year so have a wonderful Christmas, once you get the tree up. I got my kids to do it this year.
    Have a great week.

  18. Hi Julia....in northern Australia we call this time of the year 'the crazy season' where the heat and humidity gets to everyone and we're all feeling stressed and hot, well Christmas doesn't half add to the panic and yes the mess piles up and tasks are rushed - why do we do this to ourselves. I agree though when you tidy it seems you put things in order again and it doesn't feel as bad. Enjoy the tidy-up and I'm liking that gift box you've prepared for the workshop. Have a great week Cheers RobynO#27

  19. Hi Julia - mine did look worse a x I am panicking. Until Monday the whole room was covered including floor. Had to clear it in the end. Happy WOYWW. Anne x #29
I know someone else has said but you have the verification thingy on. Am wondering if mine is. Someone else said it happened on their blog. Gremlins?

  20. Right there with you on the calming thing. I need yet another tidying session and I know once things are more orderly so will my mind be, which then leads to better creativity,
Oh my word that sounds like it's come from old philosopher or other ho oh ho
Have a good week Julia, it was nice to pop by again x

  21. Your box o' scraps IS looking a little out of control, but the thing is, it's still smaller than mine. I GAVE UP on having a BOX of scraps and now divide the cardstock into zip lock bags that get files with the cardstock of the same colour. It seems to help save me from cutting a whole sheet when a large scrap fits the bill. Patterned paper, that is still in a mess but there is less of it. I have my 3 ring binder of page protectors that have "card kits" in each one, and that is where my patterned scraps really get gobbled up. It's a juggling game, isn't it, this desk maintenance? And endlessly fascinating to see how everyone else does it!
    Happy WOYWW.

  24. Now that's impressive Julia, Wow what a lot you've got going on.
I've got those bin sacks too. I think they're brilliant!
I'm sorry that I may have messed up your linky too as I've entered twice. The first one didn't go right and I can't delete it :(
I think I'm kind of distracted by news that the weather bomb is about to hit us.
Love the picture on your wall by the way.
Have a great week and Happy WOYWW to you xoxo

  25. It looks busy and productive rather than messy!! I love the idea of a die cutting station - when I cut it's wherever there's a Big Shot size space to put it! Love the reindeer box - I'll have to have a mooch around pinterest. Hope you have a great week,

  27. I have a dedicated craft room but wind up working in a small space of my desk. I try to clean after each project and if I don't I usually wind up misplacing something. Last time I lost a CD case with some dies. I think it is gone forever, cause I tore this room apart trying to find. Maybe I tossed it into the trash...so I have to keep my space sort of clean! Don't laugh, you will be old one day too!

  29. I have a dedicated scrap box which also needs to be sorted out. What's worse is that I keep every teensy bit of paper from my projects and then end up throwing them out when I have a cleaning spurge. Loving the little gift bag and that bin bag is too cute to use. Have a lovely week Anita #39

  30. Sigh, it is so familiar! I divided my scraps in to wallets by colour. Now when I need a blue bit I pull out the blue folder - so much easier than riffling through a pile...

  33. I know the feeling, Julia! The worst is when you want to find something in a big pile and you have to go through it five times before you spot it. I have a growing pile of scraps too, actually three separate piles come to think of it (carefully stored on the floor). I'm waiting for my husband to start moaning about it, then I'll put them into boxes and hide them under the bed! Happy WOYWW! zsuzsa @ InkyDinkyDoodle #40

  34. You make me feel normal. Yours has only been short term. Mine alas! is on it's way to recovery after months. I feel I've lost part of my life this year for circumstances beyond my control. But I'm thankful for the fact it's not been for more serious reasons. Love your little box too. I've a board called "It's Wrapped" and I was amazed at what all I've posted to it..should use it sometime ! Thanks for the peek, enjoy a fun week.

  44. Hi Julia, you're not alone in being monumentally sick of the state of their desk! I got such a headache looking at mine this morning that I just had to clear up ... it helped immensely that Sky was storm tossed so no distracting broadband in Casa Worthington. Love your festive bin bag, the wee box you've made and the fab painting on your wall :) Enjoy the rest of the week. Hugs, Elizabeth xx

  56. Whoo hoo! I didn't think about it being Wednesday which is a shame cuz have I got a mess to rival yours. I do have enough room on the desk for the cat to jump up though because if I didn't he'd just make one for himself anyway. Good luck with it all! Definitely take some time to organize it all up as that will make you feel calmer.
