What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday, 282

I took the photo when I got in from work on Tuesday at about 5.15pm. Erk. First auto-flash picture for ages!
What's on my workdesk? Thanks for asking.  There's a mug with an instant soup in it...I was going out again and wanted to recharge the old energy levels; I'm rubbish at eating late! Two nice pieces of printed felt.  They are still there.  I'm contemplating their uses.  OK, I have no idea what to use them in/on/with/for, but it amounts to the same thing as contemplating usage, huh.  The plastic box houses my stick on gems...and I have very few.  A situation to be rectified given the coming of 'the' season!  Lovely sparkly gems at back, there's a bit of a story to them and I'll tell you after Thursday's workshop.  There's the trusty iPad...I was listening to a murder mystery play.  I do not know why the wooden pieces are there, or indeed, how they've ended up on my desk, I'm certainly not planning to use them any time soon.  Perhaps I'll put them away this morning.  Finally there's the card that I'm working on.  It's for a workshop and so far, so good.  I've got about ten minutes before I promised Mr Dunnit I'd be at work, so let's hope I don't lose the idea before I can get back here!

  1. What a very busy desk today, with about as much actually happening on it as there is here on mine... like the patterned felt, hope you decide what you're doing with it soon! Early start for you today, have a good one.

  2. And I thought it was chocolate, based on the writing on the mug ...but then chocolate soup sounds lovely to me. I love printed felt too but agree, how to use it? I wonder if the Stick It stuff I have would work for felt...it did for fabric so maybe. I should bring a sheet to crop and you can see for yourself. Oh dear, the family stirs... Happy WOYWW.

  4. G'day Julia...I often have things on my desk that I have no idea how or why they are there as well. Oh I love the sheet of bling at the back...I have a thing for those bling strips. Loved all your photos of Spain too

  5. I have to say I got quite disappointed when you said there was soup in the mug. I envisioned some delicious hot chocolate with marshmallows swimming around on top (sigh). My eyes went straight to the sparklies at the top, once I had seen the mug of course. I love sparklies. Hope Mr D doesn't make you work too hard and you get to play on your desk.
    Have a great week,

  6. I so do not like dark mornings or afternoons - it makes the day feel shorter (I don't mean the amount of daylight, I mean there seem to be less hours). The card on your desk looks interesting Julia - hope you remember your idea for when you finish work.

  7. You have a great variety on your desk. And I could ditto your words. Have this and that and don't know what to do with any of it. Like Brain dead for me. Looks like you have darkness early too. I hate it. Daylight savings time starts this weekend so will be light in AM, but dark so early and so cold again.
    Thanks for the fun.

  8. A lot more interesting than mine Julia! Look forward to seeing what you do with felt. All this talk of soup and hot chocolate is making me need refreshment - but at this time in the morning maybe just tea. Anne x # 18

  10. Pretty snowflakes and it looks like a colour scheme I'm fond of when it come to seasonal cards. Boo to needing the flash. I walked into town at my usual time on Monday and the light (or lack of it!) took me by surprise when I stepped out of the shop!

  11. A great card coming on there, Julia. Oh, all this talk about hot chocolate - how gorgeous is that on a cold dark evening - but soup in a mug is a fair second!
    Take care. God bless.

  20. I love to visit your desk and see what you have going on. I'm never happy when it is so dark so early. I'm always having something lying around hoping to find inspiration for a use for it. Sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't. Now that I'm retired, I just don't sweat it anymore. If it does, it does...if it don't it don't!

  21. The dark photo certainly makes you start to think winter's on it's way. The card you're making looks nice with the snowflakes, look forward to seeing it finished.

  23. Happy WOYWW. Still not adjusted to these dark evenings - the mornings aren't so bad, but having to start my winter yard routine in October is a bit scary for me, ie I aim to be out there at 3 pm. At least I tend to finish in time to get back in my craft room for a while before preparing the evening meal. I am wanting some soup now, well at least some sort of food. It is 11 am, so officially Elevenses! Ali x #40

  24. It sounds like you've been as busy as ever. I know the feeling of forgetting ideas you get when you can't really work at your WD, so I sometimes quickly sketch them in random pieces of paper. It works as long as I don't loose the paper - LOL! Have a great day at work. Blessings!

  27. I put sheets of sparkly "diamonds" on my Christmas Wish List every year. :) A girl can never have/use too many of them. Your card is beautiful. Blue and turquoise always catch my eye. I seem to have pinned lots of blue/turquoise items on my board. Thanks for sharing your space. Happy WOYWW

  28. Ugh, our clocks go back this coming weekend too, so it'll be dark season for us then. Still, at least all the snow we get will be reflective in the morning so it won't be quite so desperate!! Look on the bright side right? Busy little bee this week, running hither and tither. Pretty card on the go, it's Xmas all the way now, I must take a count and see where I'm at!

  30. Hi Julia, pretty card, love those colours for Christmas cards. Also hate the short days and early darkness, but I do like the cosiness inside. How mysterious about the wooden pieces - maybe you've been sleep-crafting?! Happy WOYWW Annie C #50

  31. Contemplation is Creation... I do it on a daily basis. I might not be able to physically write some days but my story is always churning in my brain. ;-) And yes, more bling is in order. Always more bling. Can't have too much bling - or Washi Tape hehe Creative Blessings! Kelly #52

  35. Julia, did you get home from one job and then go to another? You are superwoman! I love instant soup--I keep some at my work. I love those stick-on gems...you gave me an idea. The Christmas stuff at Hobby Lobby is already on sale and that will include stick-on gems! Have a great week and take care of yourself. Sandy Leigh

  36. Morning Julia, busy desk today - love that felt. I like to die cut felt, using simple shapes in different sizes - circles and such and then I turn them into flowers. I'm not joining you this week, I worked too late last night to write my post in time..Cx

  37. Oh, these dark evenings, Julia! Don't they make taking photos of the desk challenging? Soup? ... judging by the cup I was expecting hot chocolate! I like the look of the printed felt but, like you, I would have to think long and hard to decide what to use it for :) Have a great week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #53

PS: Thank you for leaving a comment already ....I was away having my lunch, which included a cup of soup :)

  38. That felt looks lovely - but sorry no idea on how you can use it (not much help am I LOL!!) I have to remember now to get on early in the day to take photographs now the clocks have changed, I hate this time of year for its lack of decent photography light

  42. ... and now you got me thinking what I would use those wooden pieces in/on/for... I actually have a few but they are in boxes... not my cup of tea but who knows... never throw anything away, right? Did you make it to work? Happy woyww and a hug from HOlland, Marit #63

  43. Your card in progress looks lovely -- blue and white are so pretty together. I don't have many stick-on gems, either. My local stores don't seem to carry many "basic" ones -- they're all odd colors or too large or weird shapes. I did just procure a package of glittered enamel dots which I can't stop admiring. I was initially skeptical about enamel dots -- they are so pricey for what you get -- but now I'm just enamored of them anyway. Happiest of WOYWWs to you! ~ Laura the Bookworm

  44. hey little late this week but I made it to the party! Love those felt pieces and just bought a couple black with spider webs printed on them but I doubt I will get around to using them this year...hope I remember they are there next year! Have a great week! Vickie #65

  45. I'm late, too, but had to join in this week. I love your card, Julia, and it was a treat to see that printed felt! I didn't even know there was such a thing as printed felt. And that's why we all love your WOYWW hop: we all learn something new every time!! Have a wonderful week!! Hugs, Darnell #66

  46. That's a nice busy desk! I love that felt. I've never seen that before. Oh I think you can use it as back ground for something Christmassy...
I enjoyed reading about your scrap retreat! That sounded heaven to me. And you managed to get something done too. Well done you!

  49. Hi Julia,
I have quite a few dies, not lots, but a manageable number, and none of them are TH! That clock face is by Cheery Lynn and it is lovely and detailed. Just took a bit of wrangling to get it to cut perfectly. But it's good now :) Some other very nice brands I have are Memory Box and Impression Obsession :)

  50. Usually I get your workdesk Wednesday posts in my email on Wednesday, but not this week. It looks like some fun and crafty things are happening on your desk. I often have the same item on my desk (sometimes for weeks) waiting for inspiration to strike.

  51. Thanks for your lovely encouraging comment, Julia. I feel as if I'm back on track creatively now, thank goodness! So glad you like my various projects. I've only recently got that stamp set and it's perfect for mixed media projects. I've got plenty of felting plans too, but not a lot of time to experiment until after I've finished the album.
