Bad light - yep, taken at 5.45pm last night and the autumnal rain has really dulled the day...urgh. At left is a basket with sample and supplies for one of this week's workshop cards. Above that the iPad of course; at the point of photography it was relaying an Ann Bronte adaptation via Radio 4. This morning - at this time, it is wisely silent. There are two little white birds awaiting some sort of decoration...they speak to me indeed, but not enough to actually commit to something! Then a piece of discarded foil, still plenty to use, so just waiting to be filed. There's my ticket and some postcards from my recent trip to the Alhambra Palaces. And see on top of the perspex drawers - that white blob under the tapes and another next to the tape runners? They are marble pebbles, stolen from a Spanish beach. They are sparkly with quartz. I would have brought back more, but the thought of carting a suitcase of rocks about made very little sense really. And then there's the blank page. It's the 'method' and 'supplies needed' lists for workshop cards. I am, at some point, going to write stuff in it. Just as soon as I've made a card.
Please then, share what you're up to - what your work surface looks like and how you are. We need to know. To do that, you can follow these notes.
I'm afraid I would have been tempted to at least bring back my carry on luggage filled with white marble pebbles :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a nice holiday, with no unplanned adventures :)
RosA # 1 (and I wasn't stalking you, honestly).
Must be rain and dreary all over the land. Cold here too. I love the little birdies..and I collect little rocks from all over too, Why? I don't know just like the feel. Off to dream world, played too many computer games.
ReplyDeleteYou caught me unawares this morning with your early start - turned my back to make a cup of tea to sit and wait for the posting...
ReplyDeleteHope the empty page fills with notes and supplies soon. I too would have been tempted to bring more pretty pebbles back with me.
I have been to the Alhambra and I remember being fascinated at all the details and ornamentation. I love visiting those kinds of places! How lovely for you to be able to travel to Spain so easily!
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW, Julia!
I like today's desk colors. The warmth of the "bad light" makes it look very shabby chic! :-)
ReplyDeleteHope you have an inspiring week and your "good" chill lasts!

Could only imagine how heavy your luggage would be with all those sparkly rocks in it. They are pretty

Glad you enjoyed your holiday Julia. I have started to think about lighting some candles to cheer up the Autumn evenings.
ReplyDeleteLynda B 13
Have you something in mind to make with those sparkly rocks? Or are you like me, just see them and like them. Mind you, mine don't come from somewhere exotic but usually from Cleveleys which is a beach not too far away.
ReplyDeleteYou enjoy them anyhow and do tell us if you have plans for them.
Hugs, Neet (crawling back to bed having just had to nose on here)14 xx
Hi Julia - even the name Alhambra conjures up the exotic! Glad you're back home safely, after what I hope was a great trip. It's too dark to see what the day holds, but I hope it shines for you. Happy WOYWW, Chris # 16 xx
ReplyDeleteI'm a pebble collector too and always carry at least one round with me in my purse ...for luck of course :-)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Annie x
Morning, Julia. It seems we are all alike - little piles of stones picked up to remind us of whatever. We have a lovely bowl of heart shaped stones our grandies found for us here on the Llandudno beach! Sounds like you had a great holiday - good for you!
ReplyDeleteTrust your notebook gets some "filling-in" done - as soon as you have made the card, of course.
Have a great day.
God bless.

What is it about making things for some classes...I am at a dead end with the page on my desk...my head is more blank than that page of yours! I am adamant that I am not taking it off my desk till it is done and dusted...you could be in danger of seeing it again next week then!
ReplyDeleteI'm back!! :D And....I only posted ONE PHOTO! I know you will be oh-so-proud of me!!!
ReplyDeleteMissed you all soooo much!
Hmmm, I have a half filled page for my next class, the basic supplies bit! Prob is, I made the sample a while ago, now I need to go back & remember what I did & what I used lol!
ReplyDeleteHappy woyww

Isn't it funny how we are drawn to shiny pebbles and assorted bits of rock? We came home with half of Iceland in our rucksacks once :-)
ReplyDeleteHugs, LLJ 23 xx
Ah the blank 'things to do ' list not sure what's worse that or a full one with nothing crossed off. At least you brought back a few little pebbles ..... Remember sometimes .... Less is more .... Especially when you have to carry it
ReplyDeleteHave fun at the workshop
Janet @12
You should have packed the sunshine in your case when you left. No fun coming back to rain. At least you have the pretty pebble to remind you of your holiday. Are you finding it hard to get back into the swing of things? Can't se a sangria on your desk :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great week
Von # 25ish
Hi Julia and welcome home. We too have a stone collection - gathered from various holidays - have to admit though that is DH's doing more than mine. Wish you had bough sunshine back with you:-) Happy WOYWW Anne x @ 27
ReplyDeleteLove the sample card in the basket. Have a great day creating your 'list'.
ReplyDeleteToni xx
Morning Julia, about to be busy desk there, like the pretty pebbles, what are you going to do with them?
ReplyDeleteHope your list has been written now and not just in your brain, less stressful when it is down on paper.
Chris #20
Pretty snowflake card Julia - note to self - dream up an idea for my C cards this year! My rockery has beautiful pebbles from all round this country - happy memories. x Jo
ReplyDeleteWe always seem to come home with half a mountain in our suitcases!!! I'm glad we're not the only ones who collect pebbles.
ReplyDeleteLove your pretty snowflake card.
Hugs Lisax #31
Sparkly pebbles, I like the sound of them and I too would have brought some back. Glad you had a lovely holiday.
ReplyDeleteKyla #33
I love pebbles and always bring loads back from wherever I go - I love the sound of the sparkly ones! That's a beautiful snowflake card too. Hope you have a great week,
ReplyDeleteDiana #28
I have a few pebbles in my craft room that have been ' decorated by little people" love the card in the basket! Hope your rested from your time away!!! On holiday sounds like you went to prison....
ReplyDeleteJackie 10
I'm afraid I'm an inveterate collector of rocks when on holiday, Julia... hubby despairs of me at times! Years before I met him I filled the boot of the car with pink Scottish granite for my rockery, and I brought rocks home from Iceland in my hand luggage so they'd go on the plane OK. We had a wonderful time in Granada a few years ago, and visited other Moorish cities as well. I adore the Islamic designs.
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW!

Hi Julia, I agree silence first thing in a morning is most agreeable. Love the Christmas? card in the little basket. Looks like sparkly snowflakes to me. Hope you had a good holiday, Love Shaz xxx
ReplyDeleteA busy desk.
ReplyDeleteI picked up a white stone from the beach that was a perfect heart shape.
Happy WOYWW

a desk full of potential.Put a bird on it!
ReplyDeleteSounds like we are all magpies here Lol! We are not too far from the east coast so often take the dogs walking along the beach and I always arrive back with little finds.
ReplyDeletePleased you enjoyed your holiday, have a good week and happy crafting, Angela x41
Gosh that is the tidiest I have seen your desk in a while. Sorry it has been some time since I was here Miss. Dog ate my camera!

Just linked up my desk again. Love your workshop card in the basket - looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHelen x
I'm a pebbler too. Dad has a thing for shells, which is fine as long as they are empty. One time we were searching for the source of the hideous pong for a couple of days before realising Dad had bought a collection of shells home, one with a body inside!!
ReplyDeleteHope to be back later to link my desk :)
Laura
We too are experiencing rain in these parts! This morning is dry so far and we do need some drying time! Love your desk...lots going on. I always love seeing what you are doing! Thanks for having us today!
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, I was able to get back for another week of WOYWW. Love visiting all of the wonderful blogs. I wish that I lived near you then I would be able to participate in some of your workshops. Joynana #49
ReplyDeleteLove that Christmas card design
ReplyDeleteBridget #48
Hello there! Well that blank page is just waiting to be scribbled on, lists are good. I do lists. Then forget them!! Those birdies look cute too. Hope you enjoyed your time away. Take care Zo xx
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Miss Julia. Meant to post last week and the day just got away from me. Your desk is full of activity. Love sparkly rocks. My dad owned a rock shop when I was a kid. Loved being in there with him, watching the rocks tumble to a smooth shine. Thanks for the memory. Creative Blessings! ~Kel
ReplyDeleteI can imaging a marvelous shadowbox of Spain based on your trip to Spain using the Alhambra tickets, beach marble, pictures, and other memorabilia you may have. Good luck on your workshop. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteIt's dreary here too, and apparently will be for the entire week. Sigh. Oh well, it provides a perfect excuse to play in the craft space! I love the card --it's sparkly and those are colours that I'm drawn to. The birds are so cute. How will you use them? Love your iPad stand....Happy crafting!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE rocks (and shells, and wood that has layed in the sea and is all weary with salt water...) and I SO understand you 'stole' those rocks from the beach... I am a person who indeed would carry a suitcase full of rocks home... Enjoy your day Julia, and happy woyww. Marit #58
ReplyDeleteI would of dumped clothing to bring back more rocks, I love rocks. Nice to see you have been productive at your desk.
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW

Hi Julia, at the time of writing this is comment #42 ... that's an awful lot of comments so I would not be one bit surprised if you never got this far! But just in case you do I just thought I'd say that I like, and collect, rocks too :) I have a giveaway on offer so do check out the sticky post at the top of my blog. Have a great week, Hugs, Elizabeth x #53
ReplyDeleteToday is a day when I wish I WAS 59 .....
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you arrived home safely and ... with a collection, or is it just the start of things to come?
Please keep them in a safe place, you don't want to lose your marbles too soon do you?!?!?!?
Bishopsmate #59
Looking very organized! I like those white birds!!
ReplyDeleteThe other day I was thinking how I should be using my Samsung tablet (I don't have an iPad) for some amazing things--but it's main purpose? Watching crafty YouTube videos while I'm working at my craft table! My favorite is the frugal crafter, and I love studio tours. I watch Netflix too sometimes, but I don't want something that I have to pay too much attention to. Hugs! Sandy Leigh
ReplyDeleteCan I just ask a question Julie?
ReplyDeleteWere you hanging from the chandelier to take this photo? ;D
Love the wee birds... they remind me of the three white doves that visit my garden every day.
Enjoy your week and thanks for hosting once again.
Happy WOYWW
Neesie #60
Your story about the pebbles reminded me of the I Love Lucy where she tries to bring home all those rocks. And the look on Ricky's face as he's tossing them all out, lol.
ReplyDeleteLots of creative bits and pieces on your desk today. I hope you are refreshed and raring to go after your trip.
Happy Woyww,
Sandy #40
A deskful of promise, there's something about a blank page that makes my fingers itch! Love those sweet white birds and I'm with you on the sparkly stones - I have a quite a collection of stones and shells from all over the place. Happy WOYWW Annie C #64
ReplyDeletelinking up for the second time, I LOVE this, Thank you so much for giving us like-minded people an opportunity to connect with eachnother from all over the world!!
ReplyDeleteHello!
ReplyDeleteIt is so nice to have this day to share with others - thank you so much for this opportunity! I hope that all is well with you and wish you a happy day!

Oh my, I'm a rock picker-upper, too--Loch Ness, my children are quite impressed I have rocks right from the lake . . .
ReplyDeleteThe autumn rains have hit us hard the last few days, it's nice to see the sun today!

I picked up some large lava rocks many years ago and was able to haul them home on my hubby's semi-truck trailer with lots of straps to keep in place. Needless to say, some have made 4 moves since then. Hope you have a great rest of the week! Happy WOYWW!
ReplyDeleteCarol N #61
I look forward to see what you do with the little birdies. :) I am late, but made it. Happy WOYWW!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see I am not the only one who brings back pebbles from holiday beaches. I hate the light at this time of year - I am always remembering at 5pm that I needed to take photographs and have to make do with poor light - not a problem in the summer but utter meh right now!!
ReplyDeleteKraftyKaren #74
Happy WOYWW! If you bring back a couple of pebbles from each trip, you could fill a decorative bowl with them. :-) I have stones and shells from the beach and it makes me happy to look at them. The card for your workshop looks very pretty! Hope you show us a close-up sometime. :-)
ReplyDeleteJust read what you put on my page and realised that I forgot to alter the text in Mr Linky on my phone from a few weeks back when neither my PC and tablet would post, so resorted to my phone with frustrated comment. Ooops
ReplyDeleteChris
Hi Julia, I am always carting rocks home from trips. I can even remember where some of them came from. lol I am glad you had a vacation and some sunny days. Rainy here too. Your desk looks busy with plans. Peg R 77
ReplyDeleteLots of stuff going on at your desk. At least lots of projects started. :-)
ReplyDeleteApril
A Tad behind this week...Your desk looks so organized and...expectant? I wish I could keep on top of lists like you do; it would really make life so much easier!
ReplyDeleteHello!
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my blog and your kind comment! It was good to hear from you! Wishing you a happy day!
Hugs,
Barbara Diane
can't remember if I have posted here or not...doesn't matter I'll do it again! Busy looking desk for just returning from vacation. I love to pick up rocks in my travels. I have some Spanish crystal at my house too! Have a great week! Vickie #76
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit and comments, Julia. And thank you for this WOYWW spot. It's so fun to visit other blogs to see the spaces that folks have, the supplies that they like to use and to check out their blogs in general. And of course, it's fun to exchange pleasantries with other wonderful crafters around the world. I love it!
