What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 272

Join us.  Read the how to and the whaaat? at the top of the page.
And then brace yourself. My desk is untidy without any sign of relief.  You may hate it.  I live with it, and so far, it's OK.  By this afternoon, it will be neat and tidy because I have non-craft stuff to do that needs a decent space (just some book-keeping, do not get excited on my behalf!).
See, there's a lot of everything.  Real work intruding under the roll of printed tape - dislodging my Crop Alien, but not for long.  The red and white scallop edge card is a beautiful wedding invitation.  It was in the WOYWW stand - I have no idea why it isn't now.  Amazing that only two pairs of scissors are visible because I'm fairly sure that there are four on the desk somewhere.  The clipboard hold cards to be delivered to Shokeeper Gal as workshop samples, and some bits and pieces of stock, ribbon etc to serve as a shopping list when I'm at the shop. You can see the glasseine peelings off the double sided tape, which means my ATG is still empty.  I'm coping!  I don't know that there is anything else of interest.  I'm one card down on the sample front and so must away to get it done.
Put WOYWW in your blog title, link your post here and we'll visit for a look at your space. Thanks!

  2. So odd, the not appearing right away. But I trust I am linked, cause I'm like that :) Love the card. I actually had to make one the other day. Turns out I have a bit of a reputation and DS's circle now requests a "card from your Mum". Thank goodness I have you to inspire me :)

  5. Your space is always so active with a lot if scissors hiding about. It's funny how they seem to gather together in our craft rooms. I always hide my sewing scissors or I'm sure I would find them beside some electrical wire or something happy we'd hugs Nikki 2

  6. Hi Julia- just remembered its Wednesday as I was about to have my brekkie cereal before bed! Love the butterfly card, I'm pretty sure I will be case-ing that one. 8. Knowing your collection of scissors, I'm quite surprised too...hope you got the remaining card sample made (I am sure it's a beauty) and your paperwork done. I'm further down the list than usual because I'm on holiday and having a lie in.. (grin)

  9. What's a WOYWW stand please? I know what you mean about the ATG gun waiting to be refilled - not my favourite job so I often end up with the ds tape but then I love the Scoretape - have you tried it? Especially the real thin one for when you make books and things. Used to buy it in America but you ca get it here now. Good and strong and much easier to handle than the red liner stuff.
    Have a good week.
    Hugs and thanks for WOYWW.

  10. I love how we are in complete chaos with missing skissers one minute and then, when needs must, we clear it all away and start fresh! Lovely butterfly cards both center stage and leaning! I'm happy to hear you're coping!! Hugs, Darnell #19

  11. Eww, the thought of having to clear arty space for boring old bookwork makes me go cold. Love your butterfly card. I have heaps of pairs of scissors in my room but it's cos I keep losing them and find it easier to get another pair than trying to find them in my mess, works for me!
    Have a great week.

  13. I just love your workdesk today Julia!
found some great lines about chaos..because I always are in a struggle against my chaos here around me ..this lines calm me down..
"Chaos is not merely a mindless jiggling,
it's a subtle form of order."

What does chaos theory have to do with creativity? Everything. A simple understanding of chaos will forever change your idea of what creativity is all about. In truth there is no chaos, just different levels of order, interlaced and folding in upon itself.

    Happy WOYWW!

  15. Happy WOYWW Julia...I think a messy desk is really just fine...means one has been busy and the mojo is happening. Not good the paperwork bit, been finalizing some here today and whooppie we've found a rental property and will be on the move in 12 days.. I'm leaving my room till last to pack so I can still play. Cheers and have a lovely week RobynO#21

  16. Good morning Julia! I like the WOYWW stand, good idea to display cards. The butterfly card looks great too! Book-keeping... besides ironing that is another thing high on my booklist (because I try to calculate myself rich, which doesn't work, no matter how I calculate things...)

  31. Oooh busy busy desk, Julia! I don't envy you the book keeping bit, though. I never seem to get on top of my office stuff and I haaaate doing it - I can see through the open doorway into the ARTHaven proper and feel myself drawn in, and so the boring work remains undone lol! I am sure you will get on top of your chaotic desk eventually!

Thanks for your nice comment. Yes, bereavement cards are never easy, but I do think they need to be made individually with the person in mind, and not from stash. I never seem to have much in the way of stash anyway as far as cards made in advance ae concerned!

Happy WOYWW and thanks for hosting us,

  39. Julia, I love your beautiful mess! And I love that photo of you all that you posted the other day! Isn't it funny the eternal struggle our workspaces have between craftiness and actual household business? Even my computer spends more time on crafty pursuits! Anyhoo, I love seeing your desk in the middle of the action. I hope you have completely recovered from the Spanish incident now, and are feeling fabulous! Hey--are they showing the new season of Downton now? I'm pretty sure we have to wait until January--it's killing me!! Hugs. Sandy Leigh

  41. Lovely card and a wonderfully productive desk.

I've yet to get myself an ATG, it just seems so huge and my desk space is at a premium. Are they really that good?

  42. Hi Julia, me again, just realised I managed to accidentally enter my name on the linky twice and the second one is linking back to the wrong blog post - if you see this, pretty please would you mind deleting the #48 and just leaving the #46 on the list for me. Thanks and sorry to be a klutz! Annie C #46 :o)

  43. I like visiting a good crafty mess. I'd have one for myself if it weren't for those pesky cats. As little as is on my desk, hubby had to pick things up off the ground when he got home from work (he gets home before me). I know several people with empty ATG dispensers right now. How y'all coping?! PJ #59

  47. Isn't it sad when real life paperwork must get in the way of craft life? But it looks like you are getting a few things accomplished, especially if that clipboard is any indication.

Sorry I'm not playing this week, especially since I had planned to, but I'm waiting on a police officer to call me back. Nothing serious, I just couldn't access a .pdf form I need to fill out to register our National Night Out block party. Since I'm the contact person for the neighborhood, I have to fill it out. Gotta love that real life paperwork (grin), right?

  48. I love the top butterfly card...and you just gave me an idea..ohh, sudden migraine, must leave work now before it leaves my head! LOL!
And tape gun refills are on my list too!

  49. Hello Julia,
You can never have too many scissors! I finally broke down and bought the Tim Holtz pair at Dyan's class. It was quite strategic to have the class at the store!

I kind of cheated and didn't show my desk as it hadn't changed since last week (well, except the removal of the journal and the addition of some spa cloths that I'm knitting). Couldn't find my charger for the camera so I was dead in the water - so to speak.

    Happy WOYWW
    Hugs,
    Kay

  56. Thanks for popping in to visit this week, Julia. Your desk is certainly a busy place at the moment. The buddleia I have been using are a variety called Buddleia Buzz. Mine came originally from Thompson and Morgan, but the latest ones I have bought have been from local garden centres. They are advertised as patio plants and have certainly remained small over this summer, but smothered in flowers. They will get seriously pruned in Spring to make sure they do not get out of hand. Have a great week. xx Maggie #20

  57. I would like to say I got up at 5 am to post this but truth is was awakened at 4.30 and only realized day and oh whoops i didn't post after first coffee. You are my inspiration, a desk bristling with creativity. Bookkeeping can be creative, well that was Al Capone's take on it. Have a great day.
