What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 256

256!  My word, to borrow a phrase from well, most of you...don't the weeks swing by fast!  260 is the fifth anniversary of this weekly jaunt..if you want to join in with the quiet and polite celebration that will involve an ATC swap, please read all about it HERE.

So for now, revel in the ATC making that was going on.  Indeed it continues...I get to it in very short bursts.
Same old stamp for the backs..I never envisaged it getting this much use!
And then, I had a bit of clearing up time and decided that I could find time to start on some workshop cards.  And the clearing up, and indeed the unfinished ATC backs became just another layer on the desk. And this is how I left it late last night.  And how it will stay until this evening.
I know that I am lucky to be able to just down tools and walk away.  I know.  and the idea of putting a door in the gap between here and the lounge room where my lovelies keep me company fills me alternately with horror and relief. The relief - at not having to excuse the sight to visitors.  And the horror of being cut off from the rest of the house. Almost, but apparently not quite, worth being tidy for!

Share with us your workspace then, that would be great.  No advertising.  Please put WOYWW in your post title and be reciprocal in your visiting.  If you can turn off word verification, you'll get more comments, for sure.  Link here:

  2. Sounds like you are part way through making those ATCs. I find the hardest part is cutting the ATCs to size. Had to laugh at the "cool" on the stamp. Very clever you.

One thing about it, your desk is very colorful AND organic this week. Happy Wednesday.

  3. Hi Julia! Another week gone and yes where does it go lol! I can see by your desk that you have been extra busy :-). I love having my craft space near the lounge area as it makes me feel still part of what's going on, but I can't hide it!! Have a great week and happy WOYWW.

  4. Looking very interesting but nothing like I expected. You have a regular production line going, and trust me, it's the best way. :)

    See you at crop

  5. Hehe ... that's a real creative "mess" :) you have there Julia! But that's cool, I feel very comfortable with it :) and the production line method really is the only way to go!
    Have a good week,

  6. As you know I love a good mess and that looks like a good creative mess. In the artistic world mess is more! Well that's my excuse anyway, but sadly I'm not that messy at the moment.
Enjoy your ATC making .... I really must start mine too.

  8. Wowzers, that is a lot of ATC backs..I've made a handful so far..I love your mess..I can't leave mine totally messy, as my craft space is in the bedroom and there are some things Hubby just won't ignore :) Cx #16

  9. Boy Julia, you really are going to be busy with all those ATC's. I like the nifty little cutter you have there. What do you use that pointy thing with the orange handle for?? I know, it's for poking visitors who dare to comment on the creativeness of your desk :) We have a huge (junk) lounge room across from my little room and my hubby won't let me use it to paint in for the very reason that it doesn't have a door. When we have visitors I am made to close my art room door, don't know why :) I had a look down at some of your posts and that card with the green dress on is really gorgeous.
    Have a great week ATCing.

  10. Good morning, Julia. You are really manically busy, with everything you do - I don't know how you find the time to do everything.... but all those ATC backs - suggests an incredible number of ATC FRONTS!!! I think I have 7 so far - and that may well be the max I manage, the way the weeks are flying by.

    Have a special week.

  11. Woah...that's a lot of ATC's...and as you know I love a creative desk so yours is looking just fine.

I agree that it is great to be able to shut the door (mine doesn't always want to shut though...something to so with stuff on the floor at times!) and walk away from creative chaos!
Kyla (who forgot to remove the extra wording this week....well it is early!)

  12. Busy desk this week! WOW it does seem like time is flying by this year! I keep hoping it will slow down a bit and let me enjoy the ride but no such luck. Have a great week and leave the door open. If they come to see the house then you need new friends...Vickie #14

  14. I had to giggle about the door. I have a room, I can close off my mess, but I hate being so far from the action. So, I bring my mess with me to the family room and I watch TV with my honey and then I return the mess to my craft room and close the door. Happy Crafting this week. Enjoy your ATC creating.

  15. That's a lot of ATCs Julia, and a lot of writing on the back when you finish them. Had to zoom in on your desk for a really good snoop this week as it's very busy, unlike mine this week which is quite bare, but I still close the door on it.

  17. The door to my sewing room is such a blessing to me Julia.....it shuts work from pleasure many times at the end of a day :-) and yes is enables me to drop tools and run too with threads one end of the floor to the other [I just have to hope I have time to tidy and hoover before any viewings of course] :-)
    Hugs,

  21. Hi Julia and happy WOYWW hugs. Super busy desk there this week and yes we're all scrambling to finish our ATCs but you're also prepping for a workshop. I'm seeing your big tape dispenser and thinking with all the tape I use I should invest in one of those - are they economical? Well best visit a few others. Cheers and have a great week RobynO#35

  25. Hi Julia you are so right, don't know who robbed the months, time is just going so fast. You have a very busy desk this week and love the back of your ATC's, can't wait to see the fronts. Happy crafting, Angela x

  26. Julia,

Get a door it works wonders when you don't want people to see your mess. I have doors that can be shut and it works well for me. Hey you could also booby trap it so you know when people have been at your stuff (or furry beasts) Just leave the door open then you can still be part of the family.

Hey I have a messy desk this week and I am proud of it (not) LOL

    Happy everything,
    Hugs Eliza & Yoda

  27. Love your honest mess - I have had similar chaos this week! I know what you mean about being closed off from the family - I used to craft in our big open plan living/dining room and now have a tiny little office space instead as it was getting to be too hard to tidy it up. I am grateful now for the quiet but it took getting used to! x Jessie (#46)

  28. Wow you are making a lot of ATCs!! Still haven't started but can see a window tomorrow and at the weekend. Love how the backs became just another layer - been there. happy woyww, cINDYX

  29. Ah Julia I just love your desk it is reassuringly like mine.. organised chaos is what I like to I call it :D

..and yes treasure being able to shut the door and come back at will we are blessed to be able to do that..
I am greatly impressed at your atc making mine is much less organised (mm, I'd better get going girl!!).

  32. Hi Julia all those ATC's I've not started! Have an idea though and hope to get going next week after DH's celbrations! Know what you mean about being shut off when crafting. I didn't like it when upstairs. Dining room off kitchen. There is a door but is always left open:-). I love being in there as can also see outside! Couldn't upstairs as window high up! Happy WOYWW. 33. Lots of fun going on there! Your ATC's are great, and very "cool!!" I love having a room with a door as I have been known to have to use it when my desk is extremely busy and inky and I have "waiting" time. Happy WOYWW! Winnie #60

  34. Looks like you are making an amazing number of ATC's.... I can't believe it has come around so quickly. But aren't we all saying that. My little craft room is quite away from the rest of the house but truly they all come and find me when needed.

  42. You certainly have a lot of ATC backs! I was considering joining this but got too much happening. And your desk! I sometimes can just walk away but I usually try to finish a project in one setting then tidy a bit. I do have a project to do this week so I'll be hard at it tomorrow. Happy WOYWW!

  44. That is a lot of ATCs! I hope to have 20 to bring to the crop, but as yet I haven't started! Two classes to teach next week and once they are out of the way I'll get down to it....maybe!

  45. Who'da thunk what your most used stamp would have been. Bet you thought you might use it once of twice over the years! Ever though about a sliding door? Open when you want it to be, closed when you need it to be! Yeah, that's a desk and a half, but at least you're using it which is more than I am at the moment!

  46. Love your desk... mine is worse so no worries. I know what you mean about a door. I wish I had one so I could close the mess off. It gets to a tidy place, and then I start on another project. Ah well! Such is the creative life. Happy WOYWW! Helen #82

  47. It certainly does look as though your are well through your ATC's right now - so much better reorganised than me. Julia, could I ask if it is possible to make the names on the list change colour when you have visited them, as they used to. I am finding that I am losing a lot of time revisiting people I have already been to see. I am luck in not only having a door that I can close on my craft room but also it i at the top of the stairs so visitors have no need to go up there. Have a good week. xx Maggie #61

  48. Julia, I know what you mean about leaving messes for company. Putting up a door isn't an option for my creative space and I wouldn't want to if it were. Think of your workdesk as you would a workbench in a workshop, those are never completely cleaned up (except in magazine photos!)

If we're having company and I have time I may straighten up major stuff, like piles on the floor, but otherwise I'm not going to apologize for my works in progress. So there. :-)

    Happy Woyww,

  51. Ah yes, #260 quickly approaches, so glad I did mine earlier.

One good thing about Betsy is she is just a closet in a spare bedroom. I can just walk away, but the bad thing about Betsy is she is just a closet. Maybe I need a walk-in closet???

    Have a great week.

  56. Looks like lots of fun happening on your desk!!!! My little space is right off the front entrance. We have French doors that don't really securely shut. They are open for all to see all the time. My room is a mess! 57. Just seems to be the time for ATCs! You have been very busy! Lots and lots! I have just been playing around, but the ATC swap coming up sounds like fun. I will have to save one just for the swap! I like using my ATCs on my journal pages and on cards.

  61. Happy WOYWW, Julia! Now that is the desk of someone who's getting things done! 70. I had every intention of joining in today, but as I sit here the day is nearly over! Where did it go? Not sure you really want to know but I will tell you anyway! I am on leave and it went by baking a chocolate cake and 18 muffins for my dads afternoon tea at 8am then going to the local botanical gardens (Like Kew)for a walk at 9am to let the kids splash in the rivers with friends, then to the shops for food to feed the gannets (I mean kids) and home to do a treasure hunt for the fun of it with the kids and then a challenge for them to see who could finish a 100 piece puzzle first. (it was fair - they had the same puzzle) Followed by 3pm - my dad coming for his Birthday cake and tea till 5pm. Lastly, taking my sons friend back home, making supper and going to gym at 8pm. Now it is 9:47 and that is where my day went in a nutshell! Tomorrow I will make my ATCs for week 260 and get the extras in the post. Tomorrow is all about ME!
