And, in a spectacular return to form, the only surprised or disappointed person will be Andrew! I have unpacked, de-kitted, cleaned and sorted post Card Marathon. And I'm moving forward rather well actually. This weeks 'Cards for Men' workshop is somewhere on my desk awaiting kits....I got rather carried away with re-working one of the cards. Usually by now they'd be in the hands of the Shopkeeper Gal because let's face it, people like to have advance sight of what they're paying money to make. (Except, I suddenly realise, that we do not allow this for the Marathon. Excuses will follow.) But of course, as they're 'Cards for Men', people are happy to have sight of photos on a phone because frankly, no matter how lacking in technique or new products, these cards are still HARD to come up with. Well I think they are. And it's my Blog, so I must be right.
It's all glinting in a rather lovely late afternoon sun. And no, I'm not weeding the patio or cleaning it off this year...there's a plan to take it all up see, and I do not expend unnecessary energy. Ever. I forget why the box of sticky labels is out because I've put them away once. The rest is detritus as I've said, from some re-modelling. Ah and actually I lied. The card stock on my ipad stand is left overs from the Card Marathon, so I haven't quite put it all away yet. Ah yah, whatever.
So come on then, shock and awe me into doing something else...photo your working space whatever and wherever, post it on your blog, include WOYWW in the post title and link it here for us to know when it's safe to visit. I thank you.
I agree those "cards for Men" are hard to do, no matter how many manly things you buy. But I know you'll pull through and show us something great.
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW
Krisha who made it under #10 whoop! whoop!
Happy Easter week to you Julia!
ReplyDeleteA card marathon sounds like so much fun! I miss the days of gathering with friends locally - but all of my local friends have moved on!
Enjoyed peeking and poking around your desk this week.
Lol Julia I do so love reading your blog and having a few giggles :-). I am still putting things away from my art journal class last Friday! I am in the process of trying to fit in another table as I need to spread out more lol. I can't believe I have gotten in the line up so early..I am at no 5...wow lol! Have a great week and happy WOYWW.
ReplyDeleteJanene #5
Multi-purpose iPad stand. HA!
ReplyDeleteI make whatever I feel like for men, and if they don't like it too bad.
thanks for sharing your desk- as it!
I'd love to ATC swap in May-please send me your mailing address- I should have it and well, I don't- my email is in my Blogger profile- oh I prob have your email somewhere!

Buying cards for men is difficult enough without making them and coming up with new ideas. I hear you.
ReplyDeleteFamfa (about 7 I think)
Yep boys cards can be difficult to make at times for sure I've managed a couple lately to my own surprise but they usually have very little embellishments on them which always seems to happen with a boys card
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day hugs Nikki 12
Would have been sooner but we lost our power for 50 min top of my list now is more candles :)
You know I always tell you how lucky you are to have these classes and crops! YOU are awesome!! And that "Cards for Men" class sounds like it will be a hit! I am to frilly to make cards for men. When it is my husband or sons birthdays, it is usually a tag on a gift only! Maybe I should try to take your class???
ReplyDeleteLove your desk!! I am jealous of your window!
xxDaniella#6
Hello Julia.. I agree that making cards for males of any age is difficult. you will have to show its what you come up with once the class is over.
ReplyDeleteas for your desk it looks nice in orderly and ffull of sticky notes!
Happy WOYWW,
Hugs, Kay
I hope you don't fall someday taking these photos. Seems you might be upon something this week. I don't think I'd have the patience to do so many classes, packing and unpacking wears me down. Thanks for the peep.
ReplyDeleteYour desk is so nice..love the view of outside. I have my desk in the middle of the room. I can't face a wall or I get biggigity! Someone might sneak up on me and attack? no...funny...
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see that I'm not the only one with a desk that appears to have no top this week. However, I cheated and am sharing my desk at the hotel where I was working on recently - LOL! Have a blessed week!
ReplyDeleteMorning Julia ...male cards are so difficult... I think most of us would agree with that...maybe we all need to join your class..that would be a fun day!... Great to see some sunshine...your desk is in the perfect spot to enjoy it. Happy woyww and I am off for a little woyww fix before work ,thankyou crafty hugs Andrea #24
ReplyDeleteLove the sunshine in your room..its been raining here all day :( I agree cards for men are very hard! I'm glad the marathon went well. Cx #25
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to see the sunshine on your desk this week... Sounds like you have been rather motivated this week in getting tied up... Must be the week for it as I have been as well. Cards for men, never an easy one!
ReplyDeleteJackie 21
The desk looks great today, been so nice to see some sunshine lately. I don't like doing cards for men either, luckily there are few in my life!! it's safe to visit my desk, in a mess as usual...
ReplyDeleteMorning....sorry #30 linked to my previous WOYWW...no idea why as I cut and paste it....fat fingers, early morning and small phone is what I am going to blame it on!
ReplyDeleteKyla #31 (not 30 opps!)
I always get a laugh with your posts, Julia, and OF COURSE you are right since its your blog, LOL! Have a blessed Easter!
ReplyDeleteI always get a laugh with your posts, Julia, and OF COURSE you are right since its your blog, LOL! Have a blessed Easter!
ReplyDeleteI don't do cards for men but then I don't do many cards these days especially when I'm being tempted outside by all this lovely sunshine. Let's hope it lasts out the weekend.
ReplyDeleteAnn B
Agreed- men are awkward in general, rofl!I always seem to be mid organise, or mid put stuff away lately- this week I've actually done some crafting. ave a great week, Hugs, Shaz xxx

ReplyDeleteAs yes, the whole workshop packing / workshop unpacking / workshop packing thing! Have a good week. Karen #37
ReplyDeleteAnother week rolls around! I enjoyed the Marathon, it was great fun :-)
ReplyDeleteMen's cards always seem to matter more to us girlies!!
Hugs, LLJ 38 xx
Well done on the tidying front. But cards for me that don't involve sport, now that is a challenge .... I'm sure you will rise to it
ReplyDeleteJanet
Well done you for putting all away that you have with being poorly too. I see washing out on the line too so know just how busy you've been :-)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Annie x
Oh those men, lovely as they are, can be so hard to make really good cards for.
ReplyDeleteLots going on on that desk, love the coloured card in front of the ipad. Really super shades.
Maybe we could have a Men's card WOYWW day when we all show some of our hard thought creations.
Chris #40
Yep those men are difficult to make for, indeed! Loving the look of your desk today, reminds me of my own! Carole Z X #43
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to do cards for men. I have three men in my life....my dad, brother and nephew;) They sometimes get a bought card. I know I should hang my head in shame.
ReplyDeleteHope everyone has a lovely WOYWW day.
I'm sure you have it all in hand for the workshop.
ReplyDeleteTo have unpacked & packed away already is amazing - I attended a crop just before Christmas and everything was still in the baskets that I use on the crop table when I started packing my tote for the crop at the start of April.
Toni xx
Hi Julia...you're desk is looking very cheery and bright today, and lots of sunlight. mmm Male cards they're never easy for me either...we might all need to do your class. Happy Easter, cheers and have a great week RobynO#43

ReplyDeleteHi Julia. Yes indeed. Cards for men are really hard to come up with! Love the way the sun is glinting on everything. Isn't it nice to have it around - spent the day on Black Rock Sands yesterday - truly wonderful - a day of sun, sand and sea!!!! Like a holiday after the wet wintertime we have had.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week
Margaret #18
Phew made it to the 40's this week, been in 70's for a while now! Just getting over a nasty cold too. Bet you are glad to have the marathon over with now. Cards for men eh, where do you start? Would love some ideas for my home craft club, men cards or otherwise. BJ#44
ReplyDeleteCards for men - I am hopeless - I usually find one of my favourite photos of something that I think appropriate - lol - now that sounds a bit dodgy - I mean scenery etc!! x Jo
ReplyDeleteA busy desk, Julia, even if it is between jobs! Mine was in a similar state yesterday as I cleared up ready for the next thing. As for cards for men, what a good idea to do a workshop on this. You could always use your bicycle die cuts lol! Also Umbrella Man is a good one... and steampunk themes always go down well, with lots of gearwheels etc. and a predominance of black and brown! I am sure you will come up with loads of ideas.
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW and thanks for hosting us yet again.
Shoshi #46
You are always right Julia, you're the boss lol!
ReplyDeleteMens cards are difficult, they seem to have a habit of killing the Mojo completely not just slowing it down even Lol!
Happy crafting, Angela x 45
P.S. can't believe I have this number, it's a bit special for me!
Happy WOYWW! I seem to have needed a few Cards for men lately! Yuk! xx Jan
ReplyDeleteThe light must be wonderful coming through those windows. I love your space! Your desk looks like a busy one for sure and I love that you do classes! I live in a very rural area and there are not any classes available so I miss that. To be able to gather with like minded women would be a wonderful thing!
ReplyDeleteGlenda #49
I totally agree that male cards are always hard to make. Such a perfect idea for a workshop. Happy to be linking up with everyone today it's been a while.
ReplyDeleteAnother entertaining read, Julia ... your devil-may-care attitude is so refreshing :) Hope your 'cards for men' workshop goes well and lots of fab cards are created. Hugs, Elizabeth x #50
ReplyDeleteHi Julia. You did do well clearing away from last session. Must admit don't find cards for men easy. Hope it all goes well. Happy Easter Anne x
ReplyDeleteThe Card Marathon sounds like a fab idea - I'm planning to have one all by myself, but it's just not the same somehow! Definitely agree about the patio, would be a waste of energy - I used to have one very similar and when it finally came up there was an ant city under there and I felt bad disturbing them ... maybe you should just leave it as it is :o)Happy WOYWW Annie C #54
ReplyDeleteI have a very similar philosophy regarding energy conservation. ;) Although mine does also often extend to "the weeds are just going to grow back anyway..." Hah!
ReplyDelete~Elaine #57
Phew, managed to join in WOYWW. I'm only able to pop in every now and then as dialysis is taking it's toll on me at the moment. Take care, ♥ Karen ♥ #55 x
ReplyDeletemm, Julia I so so agree re cards for men have one on today's post.. not actually for in-make format but already made.. and yetis they are hard.. and detritus think that is crafters middle name.. am going off to bed now (my online spelling capacity is completely kaput!) and maybe comment more posts later it is after my bedtime rather late here !! Shaz in Oz.x #60
ReplyDeleteWow, another workshop this week -- no rest for the weary! My "man cards" lean heavily on things like compasses, maps, papers with text on them, stars, etc. If there are new motifs to use, I'm all ears (and eyes -- ha, ha!) Hope it goes well for you. Happy WOYWW from Laura, #64
ReplyDeleteJulia, I don't know what is going on with my entering but #62 is incorrect. I don't even know how it got there. I thought I had the old link deleted but it popped up anyway along with the correct link and at the same time. Dang.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I looked at your last post and love the tea towel. What a great idea and a wonderful memory. Your desk is fabulous with all the busyness. I just finished making 4 cards for men samples for my May class. Happy WOYWW!
Carol N #63
Hi Lulia almost forgot to leave you a comment! Loving the sunshine, in fact the garden is calling me as I type and I think it's time for a little reccie. I also have a policy of not expending energy and right now its working just fine for me. I don't suppose one those male card ideas has a table tennis bat on it? Need to make one tonight. To say I am struggling with that one is an understatement. My preferred male card just involves interesting typography. Or being bought from a shop. Happy WOYWW and Happy Easter, Cindy #59
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteCards for men .... I gave up years ago my guy would not notice if I used Graphic 45 paper or a brown paper bag. Sometimes to confuse him I use both.
Sandra
I love your madness and mess! Cards for men? Brilliant. They are just the hardest ones to do. I'm laughing too because I was just thinking yesterday how I don't have to lift a finger to clean my deck because it's being completely redone! We're going for that decking that lasts forever and you can walk barefoot on! Hugs! Sandy Leigh
ReplyDeleteOh Hurray! You've made me feel slightly better about not putting stuff away! Male cards huh! Just been struggling on a male card for a 12 year old! Well done for a whole workshop on them! Chrisx 69
ReplyDeleteMan cards - major headache! MMx
ReplyDeleteI'm struggling with a boy card just now too. Just visiting, not playing but wanted to say 'hi'
ReplyDeletecaroline
Ooh, I was expecting to be into the hundreds at this time in the afternoon! Mens cards are definitely the hardest to do. I've promised a class devoted to that soon. Urrgghh!!
ReplyDeleteThings do have a way of finding their way back out after you've properly put them away. It's really quite amazing! Love your messiness. Such a busy, happy desk. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter week! Going card crazy over here! Love the mess!
ReplyDeletedonna
Well, gosh Julia, I think your desk looks fantastic for someone who's been so busy!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog and for the nice comment.
Happy Woyww,
Sandy #17
I find that masculine cards are the hardest for me to make. I hope you are able to share yours once you can. And I'm loving the messy desk. It makes me feel at home.
ReplyDeleteApril
Busy as always my dear. Your desk always looks very productive. I always need mens cards and they are the ones I don't enjoy making. I like flowers, and butterflies, and glitter and ribbon....men cards are hard for me to create. I guess I should think layers and patterns with a bit of ribbon.... Oh well, off to create I go. Have a most wonderful week. Looking forward to seeing what you've created...
ReplyDeleteHi Julia! I am late! :) Your desk always looks like there has been a lot of creating going on! I like the idea of Cards For Men Workshop! Why are the the most difficult? Happy Easter! :)
ReplyDeletePoor wee soul, you called him out again, lol!! For an untidy mess there's an awful lot of desk showing, so it's really not that untidy! What's the patio plan? Is a wooden deck impracticable given the climate? I only mention that because of the obvious connection with your own Mister. Good job on the card marathon and raising those funds for Jan, it's probably a bit late but the punchinella stuff I did was great fun!
ReplyDeleteHugs
Brenda 56
Ah yes..men and older boys....a tad easier thanks to Mr. Tim H! Have a great class, and have a Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, Happy WOYWW again! Now I am a bit confused as to what a card marathon is ... I have an image of you on a sort 26 mile craft crawl, with a trail crafting debris behind you! I'm sure it is not this at all but it sounds fun! Hope your cards for men goes well. They are tricky to do, I've just had to complete my husband's birthday card. I usually cheat and resort to pigeons r us or whatever the card webby thing is called. Have a great week, hugs Ela x #83 ... I think - I forgot to look properly.
ReplyDeleteHi Julia - well done on clearing up post marathon - what a lot of work. I hope the man card workshop goes well - it's a great idea. Hope you managed to put your feet up some time over the hols. Easter blessings, Chris # 31
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear it's not just me who gets things out and then can't remember why!!
ReplyDeleteLOL Julia!! Thank you so much for the heads up on the time! You know how crazy I get!
ReplyDeleteYou are awesome <3
xxDaniella
Yipeee! Now that's the desk I'm used to seeing!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the challenge of those man cards! Wishing you the best of luck on that because, yeah, I have the worst time with those!
ReplyDeleteAngie #87
looking forward to the ATC swap.
ReplyDeleteMy pet hate is cards for men.LOL no flowers, no ribbon, no pretty? No can do.
ReplyDeleteWeirdest thing happened. I linked last night and was number 106. Wanted to visit a few people today and discovered I had disappeared from the list and it ends at number 80 something?
Linked again. Really hope I stay there today.
Tertia
ooh! Men Cards - with a man who works with steam trains, they are the bain of my life!!!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing the new garden (or patio)
Happy Easter.
Bishopsmate #91
I missed it this week but have just popped in for a nosey to see what's been going on.
ReplyDeletePlenty going in as usual.
Enjoy the sunshine Julia x
I seem to make more men cards than anything at the momnet lol - love the draw on your desk with your 3d foam in - I am very late this week but still wanted to play :)
