So gentle Deskers...how's it looking from your angle?
I must admit to a certain teeny smugness. From where I'm standing, I appear to be getting on without a fuss. This photo, taken in daylight on Tuesday early afternoon, shows the work in progress for a Birthday Book...a proposed workshop project..and the best excuse I ever had for playing with the new papers I bought at the Shopkeeper Gal's. It's a collection called Mother Goose by Graphic 45. Redolent of Mary Englebreit in many ways, which is probably why I was suckered into buying it. I love it. On the deckchair is a group of bagged cards - for my first workshop of 2014...the ones inspired by the handmade cards I was given at Christmas. I'l share them soon. I'm a bit shy about them for now. I don't want to insult the original cards!
So please join in. We'd like to see what you're doing and where you're doing it. Don't overly advertise your business, or join just to promote your own Meme...it's not conducive to the spirit of the thing. Keep it relatively short if you can..there's a lot to visit! Put WOYWW in your post title, link the post here and make at least some reciprocal visits...it makes the Wednesday world go around. It really does. Oh and if you visit, please leave your link number with your comment...it helps to find you on the list. Thankoo.
Knew it was too good to be true, thought I'd got #1 position for a moment before refreshing. Woke at 3am and was just about to go back to bed but one last go to see if you'd posted and you HAD - yippee. I did my first craft club at my house on Monday and would love any ideas as to what to do next - did you get many responses the other day? BJ#2
ReplyDeleteHah! I'm first! How cool is that! But, wait, it must be awfully early in your part of the world? It's mid afternoon here, and I think I shall leave work soon :)
ReplyDeleteJulia, you have the best excuses for playing with new papers! Someone should shoot me if I buy any more new stuff! I spy a baby Xyron (same colour as mine) which I find amazingly useful, don't you? Have a good week,
RosA at No.1 hehe

Here I was sluffing off after posting several hours ago. As a result, you surprised me with your early post.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I've seen of Mary Engelbreit's art, I have to agree this is quite reminiscent of her work. And even though I'm not a scrapbooker, I am totally in love with anything G45. So, I can't wait to see the Birthday Book.

Hi Julia! It as been over a month since I have joined into the weekly WOYWW crafty goodness and I sure do miss you and the other craft divas. Your desk sure does look spiffy. I can't wait to see your project when you complete it. I feel like this time of year is always my favorite time to start new projects. Whether I finish them all is a crapshoot but I sure do love all things new this time of year! Come play at my desk if you find time.
ReplyDeleteBelinda (67)
Thanks again Julia.
ReplyDeleteI have missed not being a part of WOYWW for some weeks, and not sure how much crafting I'm going to be doing in the next little while, but hope to be back sometime in the not too distant future. John W #82
Sorry, I seem to have jumped to #84! John W

Good morning, Julia! I've been avoiding Graphic 45. I know, right? How can that be. But that Mother Goose paper may just be my undoing. Looking forward to seeing your cards. Still envious of your window ;-) Hugs & Creative blessings ~ Kelly

Wow, I have always been the biggest Mary Engelbreit fan--she only lives four hours from me--and these papers really look like her design! I have the cutest little packs of Mary Engelbreit papers that I got for fifty cents one time at Michaels. Email me your address and I'll send you one! I hope the next time I go to St. Louis, I can visit her shop. So proud of how you're getting on and getting things done! You have to show us the book when you're done. Hugs! Sandy Leigh #73
ReplyDeleteWow, your new year is starting out very creatively. Love the papers you've chosen. Your desk looks great to me. I've been on a cleaning and organizing binge. I guess there are worse binges to be on. So my desk isn't going to look too creative, although I did take time the other night to work on a card I've had in mind for a bit. Happy WOYWW and THANK YOU so much for keeping me focused...Hugs from Northern California!
ReplyDeleteStill jumping up and down - 12 months of meeting up with you and the 'desks'.
ReplyDeleteLove that paper Julia, matches up with my Nursery Rhyme ATCs I am making - wish I had seen it before I started!!!
Looking forward to seeing your 'new' cards.
Bishopsmate #89
Sorry, I linked up this morning and completely forgot to comment!
ReplyDeleteEverything's looking tickety boo on your desk this morning! I have no idea who Mary Engelbert Humperdinck is but you obviously like her stuff :-)
Hope you've had a good day,
LLJ xxxx
Your desk always looks so inviting
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, love Graphic 45 papers, especially this range ... I read to my children from the Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes book when they were tiny and I vividly recollect my father reading to us too. The images are so familiar. A Birthday Book sounds the perfect project for the papers. Your workshops sound fun. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #67
ReplyDeleteYou had a very productive day, lol. Can't wait to see the finished project.
ReplyDelete#94 Dangina
Hi Julia, Happy WOYWW ! I love that G45 Mother Goose collection and was happily suckered into it myself ... trouble is I've fallen into the "saving it for special" trap so I realy need to berak into it.
ReplyDeleteYour birthday book looks fantastic :o)
I am so looking forward to seeing the book finished. One just has to love G45! Did a class with them at CHS, now need to finish it off and blog it. A bit ambitious in two hours but lots of papers to complete.
ReplyDeleteHope you get yours complete before too long.
Hugs
Neet xx 24
Thanks for your nice comment, Julia - yes, it's really great, having settled in, and starting to use my beautiful new room! The only problem is finding enough time and energy to be in there as much as I'd like. Working on Dad's album is incredibly therapeutic and I feel very close to him as I think about his life and how to depict it. As for the computer, I am spending quite a bit of time familiarising myself with the new system - I'll get there on the end.
ReplyDeleteShoshi
Looks like you have some fun things happening Julia, Mother goose I keep thinking I NEED that.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my desk, the packs of cards are in fact very old stampin up ink pads (20 years and still going strong). The evvelope punch board is definitely worth a play
Thanks for hosting
Daisy (kim) #58
....I craft....where that packet of gold and silver card is... just move it on to the pile first... there's at least 6x6 to spare! I'm #39 now.... I was so sure i was higher or lower than that!
ReplyDeleteAnother comment! I think the numbers are changing.... Is anyone else having that problem?
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW! Better late than never! Jumping in on Wednesday evening my time and all the UK crowd are almost ready to wake up on Thursday. Graphic 45 is absolutely unparalleled at what they do and sometimes their lines are just not to be resisted. Enjoy your new stash! ~ Laura #96
ReplyDeleteThose papers are so pretty! Love it!
ReplyDeleteHowdy Julia,
ReplyDeleteYour desk is very inspiring today - makes me want to do something with my papers. I'm thinking about cutting dowm my 12 x 12 and using them in a Brag Book 'smash style'. Thanks for the motivation!
