Not a desk per se...a door, on a couple trestles. This is number three of 4. Priming with a brush. Because there simply wasnt enough dust free room in the workshop to use the air/spray gun thingy. Which I'm quite dangerous with. You know how if a kid has a hose and you call his name, he'll turn the hose on you as he turns around.....yep, that sort of dangerous.
Meanwhile, late on Wednesday night, my lovely home desk looked like this.
Vaguely tidy. but interestingly..productive. Yes folks, I've started writing the Christmas cards. The ones that are done are waiting patiently in the basket at the end of the shot..where the dirty stamps usually live. You can just see the glittery gel pen that I'd been using and of course, my trusty glasses.
Not the most fascinating of desks. But there's normal service on the horizon...after these cards are done, I get to play with some designer papers as part of my unofficial, self indicated place on the Luscious Life Designs DT!
Share your desk, brag about your Christmas preparedness a little, show and tell, please.
Put WOYWW in your post title and link your blog here. It's fun. Jingle Bells.
Hello Julia, happy wednesday to you and what a great desk shot getting those cards done, good for you. I like making them but writing in them, not so good. Happy painting.
ReplyDeleteHugs Eliza 2
Tidy AND productive. Good for you. Also glad you seem to be feeling better. Happy WOYWW from #6. Need to get used to saying that again.
ReplyDeleteLooks as if you are having fun priming those doors. I hope the show them when they are finished. I wish I could tidy up my desk, but I have so much work going on, I don't have the time or energy. #4
ReplyDeleteLove this view of your desk--and seeing the button jar reminds me that I cannot find my blue Ball jar of antique buttons. How do I lose a huge jar of buttons! I'm still looking though. My glasses are on too, I've got a Christmas card production line going! Happy WOYWW Miss Julia! Hugs. Sandy Leigh Maybe no. 3...we'll see when I refresh the page!
ReplyDeleteAnother person who loves painting, the doors and trestles make a fabulous workspace. Just think how it will look when finished...WOW. Happy WOYWW, have a great week .. DeDe #8
ReplyDeleteYou are such a busy little bee Julia, wot with cupboards on last post and now with doors and posting off of mail sigh we cant compete :D
ReplyDeletebut love the china cabinet from last post and am glad things are on a roll - an congrats on DT too, Happy WOYWW, Shaz in oz.x #10 I think
I'll doze off with a smile...thank you! Thinking of you spraying all but the door with paint. :)) You mean you actually mail Christmas cards?! Oh that's what I'm s'pose to do with them. Oh well... giggle. WOYWW hugs! Nan G #13
ReplyDeleteVery productive on both desks! I love making cards, but I so dislike writing in them, Christmas or otherwise :)
ReplyDeleteHave a good week,
RosA # 14
Hi Julia!! I here you about the spray gun! and what does this mean:"self indicated place on the Luscious Life Designs DT!" sounds very interesting and I hope you post more about this!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week and thanks for sharing your very tidy desk this week!@!
Ginny M
HAHA Mr. Linkey said I was first and then came up #19!! I'm a dork!!
ReplyDeleteI like this view, I get to see your stamp cupboard for the first time.
ReplyDeleteBridget #19
Good for you, Julia! So productive and getting Christmas cards done! Happy WOYWW!
ReplyDeleteToday it's not the desk that grabbed my attention but the shelf behind with all the stamps! Woo hoo! Happy WOYWW to you!

About my bedtime, but I like posting this time of Our Day. I sleep better. Christmas preparedness..will begin this week hopefully, it's 1/2 gone and I've 2 days already scheduled with appts. And the weather forcast sounds like bad road conditions. Like this new view...got to see where you store all your stamps.Good lighting for it being so dark outside. #22 off to dreamland.
ReplyDeleteOh I like this shot of your desk! Your button jar is so festive and I love all the mess! I will feel right at home in your corner! Good for you about the cards! I have totally given up on sending cards and just send messages on facebook and email. :^(((( I am sorry about putting my name again. Peggy put the first link and was shouting for me but I was out of our office. We also work together! How grand is that? :^) Best of the week to you! patsy
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, looks like you are having a wonderful time with doors :-). Xmas cards...I haven't even done any of them this year!! I have signed my name on the ones for work..but that's it. It is always great to get a peek at your desk. Thanks for the visit a couple of weeks ago. Happy WOYWW. Have a great week filled with wine, song and craft!
ReplyDeleteJanene #26

Patsy is right, I suppose we must be used to the "regular" view of your desk, as this one seems somewhat exotic to me--and the button jar really jumps out!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the WOYWW party, Julia!
:)
you've been as always very Very productive and it sounds like you did the right thing not using the spray gun LOL. well done ...look at you christmas cards all ready to post...like the arty angle of the photo...well impressive...I'm getting there and after the last few days it's now looking much more achievable.Have a great week Andrea#29X...same number as last week wow!
ReplyDeleteLove the photo of you at work..awesome. Don't read my blog, my Christmas preparedness is going to upset you :) Enjoy your play with the papers...Cx #31
ReplyDeleteNow that you've honed your skills, I've got lots of woodwork that needs painting.....!
ReplyDeleteLLJ 36 xx
I did smile at the spray gun/hose story... yes, I'd do that too... Well done on starting writing your cards, I must get mine done as well. And then buy some stamps - eek!! Helen, way down at 37 cos my body clock woke me before you linked and I wasn't staying awake for long enough to link, till now, getting up time!! Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteWriting out Christmas cards I still have a few to make yet got to get to it. Both children would pick this time to move houses in all different directions so everything is upside down at the moment.
ReplyDeleteSandy :)
Aaah yes, a true spray painter...LOL
ReplyDeleteHummm? your supposed to write in the Christmas cards and then really mail them to somebody? I thought all I had to do was post them to my blog. What do ya know about that?!! LOL I guess I need to work more on them and quit playing around.
I rather like this view of your desk too.
Happy WOYWW
Krisha #41 I think......
Finally a few minutes to browse and see what kind of trouble you have been up to Ms Julia...reading your article about your 'Gwammy knee' oh wait that isn't what you wrote, but is what these old eyes read at first...anyway. I have Gwammy knees, and toes, and feet and arms and...' you get the idea. Not quit as gammy as yours. Great desk this week!
ReplyDeleteYou're doing much better than me on the card front. I love this view of your desk, you must have a gazillion stamps on those shelves! Painting doors can be boring, you should do my trick and paint something on them, not just paint them. I get in lots of trouble from my hubby when I start painting things (he he).
ReplyDeleteHave a great week and keep brushing!
Von # 32
Good to see your desk from a different angle Julia!
ReplyDeleteI have never had a look at your stamps on the right hand side of your desk on the shelves before...... See we have a few the same.... Good taste !
Jackie 45
writing Christmas cards, I haven't even finished making them all yet! Must get more organised! Donna #47
ReplyDeleteHi Julia! I've got a lovely image of you doing the hose/spray gun thingy - going to be smiling in to my cornflakes this morning - Cheers M'dears! MMx
ReplyDeleteOh blimey - I had better get going with my C cards - not made never mind written!!! x Jo
ReplyDeleteWell, Julia, I don't think I'll venture too near you with that air gun thing! I'm so impressed with your door prowess though! Mmmn, cogs start to whirr in my brain - you wouldn't fancy strolling down my way and helping Kevin with my eternal kitchen doors, would you? Well done for all that progress with cards! I foresee an all-nighter coming up, even if I want to create just a few for special friends! Happy WOYWW! Julie Ann xx
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, I love making cards, but sitting still long enough to address them...now that's a chore! Looks like you've got the painting task under control! Have a most wonderful week...
ReplyDeleteSorry, head like a sieve again! I'm #51 this week! Julie Ann xx
ReplyDeleteI can just imagine you with the paint spray gun....bet the walls of the workshop look brill. Our eldest, Michelle, turned the hose pipe on her daddy when she was about 18months old dressed in her puddle jumper helping her daddy to wash the car....she wouldn't let him get near her to take it off her and everyone ended up soaked and giggling [I can see why the twins have such a wicked sense of humour :-) ].
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Annie x
Tidy and productive and industrious despite that problem with your legs. Take it easy Julia so you've got some stamina left to get those cards in the post. I haven't made a card yet and I really don't think I will. DH will be writing bought ones methinks.
ReplyDeleteOff to the Lake District next week to escape for a while. Woo hop!
love Jo x
Very funny Julia, I can imagine you painting a whole semi circle of the room!Interesting desk shot, nice to see from a new angle. Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #57 XX
ReplyDeleteGosh aren't you organised - I haven't written a single card yet.
ReplyDeleteHope you are taking care of the 'not working properly' bits and resting (in between priming doors).
Toni xx
late to bed...late up and now late out! back later!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a busy person you are.Priming new doors, sorting cupboards, getting all your cards done and then designing as well.
ReplyDeleteLove Chris

I'm with you, Julia, turn round with whatever is in my hand at the time!! Wonderful picture it presents - straight out of a cartoon!
ReplyDeleteHave a great busy and productive week.
Margaret #60
Yeah, the silly season is upon us - but what fun! Great shot taken by the man. Hope that you have time to enjoy the Peace of Christmas among the busy-ness of it all. Blessings, John W
ReplyDeleteNow I think you should come over and do a bit of varnishing for me, maybe even hang a door?? Please? We've been waiting on a joiner to do it since the end of Oct and I would really like it done before Christmas! Well done on getting your cards all finished!
ReplyDeleteBernice #72
Sorry, should be #62!
ReplyDeleteWe like the different angle of your picture this week, we were trying to zoom in to see what stamps you have!
ReplyDeleteNo bragging from me, I am so unprepared it is unreal. Think I am just going to have to forget it.
ReplyDeleteAm in Germany! hence no desk. I took photos but not on my iPad so it will have to be a very late entry when I get home tomorrow.
Cannot believe I brought so much warm clothing, the sun is cracking the flags. Ooer!
Glad you are organised, fancy visiting me and organising me?
Hugs, Neet xx
You are already writing cards and I'm still trying to get mine made. Go girl! Happy WOYWW #67
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW. Love that view of your desk. Can we have a close up of the stamps? I too have written out my Xmas cards, but they are not handmade! Ali x. #46
ReplyDeleteWow, I wouldn't be trusted with a paint gun and would use a brush! I could picture me doing exactly what you mentioned and someone would wear the paint (most probably me!) I am impressed that your holiday cards are already being written out! I am doing cards for others still, but hoping to start mine next week. Enjoy the week! Winnie#70
ReplyDeleteGlad you managed not to spray your hubby with paint, Julia! You are doing a fine job with that door. Congratulations on making such good progress with your cards. I bet you are looking forward to getting stuck in with the new designer paper.
ReplyDeleteShoshi
A handy lady I see Julia... painting doors :-) And yes I can brag a little (no really a lot) as I posted my overseas cards last week of Nov and my home ones on Dec 1st and huge effort but had to be done as we were off on holiday. RobynO#72
ReplyDeleteI was still up at 2am, but couldn't find this post to add my link then so in the usual place at #73, well maybe that is a little earlier than usual!
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW, I still owe visits for last week!
You are organised, I still have to make some for family and friends, I know I wasn't going to get to this stage, it was all going to be done and dusted by now....
Congratulations on unofficially giving yourself a DT spot lol!
Carol x #73
Bravo on your Christmas cards!! I have 8. Yes, a measly 8. *le sigh* My list is over 100 and I'm wondering if anyone will notice if I don't even send them out this year....while cringing at all the goodies I bought TO CRAFT WITH this season.
ReplyDeleteI'm be better next year, she lies to herself.....
Rather you than me with those doors - I hate painting things like that! Give me a big wall and a big change of colour and I am happy. Happier at my Christmassy desk though... I want to see how the tax disc card developed, is that it there? #49
ReplyDeleteGood for you getting your cards written - I haven't even bought any yet! I usually get my hubby to write ours, because his writing is so much better, and he wraps presents better too ... and he cleans better ... hmm, good job he hates cooking or I'd be out of a job!
ReplyDeleteIt's been ages and ages since I last joined in with WOYWW - love the new look of your blog.
See you again soon :o)xxx
Ah, yes, writing the Christmas cards... forgotten I had to do that too!!
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be one of those months I feel...

It has been a long time since I joined in on a Wednesday, but I have been popping in to see what is going on. It is fun to see the other side of your working life. Hope you get all your cards finished. xx Maggie #79 ish
ReplyDeleteI dangerous with power tools period! I tend to stay out of the husbands workshop, well expect that my much neglected scroll saw is in there and I do so love turning pens! Isn't it a nice feeling getting projects done!
ReplyDeleteAngie #80
Bit late today - love your stamp shelves and hope the painting went well. BJ#81
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday! Hope you are relaxing a little this holiday season!
ReplyDeleteLovely bitof door painting there - looking very professional. Great desk, well done on your Chrostmas Cards x
ReplyDeleteFamfa 1
I am so that kid with a hose lol. Your desk looks very crafty and I love that your glasses are so seasonal : ). I have a new computer so I can finally see pages and leave comments. The camera is still broken, and I have yet to figure out if I can edit pictures on this computer as is, so for now, small steps. Happy WOYWW!!!
ReplyDeleteGood for you getting on with writing your cards and priming four doors! I've got a very small handful out so far and the rest are sitting here looking balefully at me while I play with making tags. ha, ha A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do! Happiest of WOYWWs to you!! ~ Laura the Bookworm #84
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to the glasses you received from USA. When I checked every pair of glasses was black frame? Mr D needs a
ReplyDeleteMonica 85
I just hate painting so good luck with that.
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely feeling when the cards are done isn't it?
Jan (84)
I really like this view of your desk. I hadn't seen the bookcase of stamps before. I have nothing to brag about in the Christmas card department. Glad you're ahead of the game. :-) April #84 I think
ReplyDeleteYou're a handy gal to have around I can see, hate painting woodwork, don't mind doing walls though. I need to get a couple of little parcels made up and sent off, considering how much I think about Christmas all year, it never ceases to amaze me how little I think about it when it really matters!!
ReplyDeleteHugs
Brenda
The doors look good, but not much fun. You have a lot going on. Makes my desk look very plain.
ReplyDeleteI now have an image of you, spray gun in hand (with safety googles on!) whirling round whilst hubby stands horrified at the scene!!
ReplyDeletekyla #65 (ooh, does that mean I can retire!!)
Hi Julia , glad to be back after so long. I have missed hopping around the world. Francesca #90
ReplyDeleteThe doors look good, we always seem to start a home project this time of year. Your desk looks inviting.... so much fun to be had this time of year ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting once again Julia. I really admire what you are doing with those doors :) Happy Woyww.
ReplyDeleteKaren no.58 x
My work desk looks the same today as it did for Texture Tuesday...minus the cat :)
ReplyDeleteHi, I put my name again on your WOYWW because I like the idea very much. You also can see some of my husband's drawings. Greetings from Geri ftom Holland.
ReplyDeleteHi Julia..your desk looks fabulous and fun..full of your creative magic...love the giant jar of colorful buttons!Beautiful shot..
ReplyDeleteHappy Creating and thanks for always hosting!
Victoria
Ha. I can just see you with the paint gun in your hand!
ReplyDeleteMy UK cards are on their way but I still have around 50 local ones that need inserts before I can write them. So you are ahead of me there.
I didn't make the blog hop this week because I was too busy making mince-pies - twenty dozen done now, ready for the sale tomorrow. Kate x
I've been painting doors today too! Loving the angle of your desk photo and seeing across the room. many blessings to you from Angela.
ReplyDeleteRather you than me Julia lol! Thanks for sharing. xx Jan (95)
ReplyDeleteWhat! You have started writing them! No chance here...they are made, the round-robin Christmas letter is written, but cards? Not for a while yet! Thanks for sharing. Happy WOYWW. Caro x (#75)
ReplyDeleteHaha, love the image of you turning around with the spray can, lol.
ReplyDeleteAs for Christmas preparedness, I'm not making cards and most of my gifts are coming out of my Etsy shop, so I'm in pretty good shape. Just need to decorate at some point in the next 21 days. :-)
Happy Woyww,
Sandy #3
I know where to come when the gloss work needs doing again! A (very useful) side effect of teaching classes this year, has been Christmas card designs all planned before the beginning of advent. Go me!
ReplyDeleteNote to self- must start writing in Christmas cards!
ReplyDeletethanks for the snoop around and hope you find time to visit!
Blessings,
Robyn 15
Ohh, hopefully I'll be writing mine soon!! And, yes I get the hose issue: My husband bought me a water pik....my bathroom mirror has never been so clean! LOL! Have a good rest of the week.
ReplyDeleteWell Julia on writing your Christmas cards, I've only just started making mine!
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday to you,
Karin #98
Hello, dear Julia, this is a wonderful view over your desk. I love your big glass with lots of buttons, your stamps on the shelf, hmmm just everything :) So many ideas and inspiration from a creative soul. Hugs and love
ReplyDeleteErika
Hi Julie, I really had to laugh at the spray gun/hose story, I am just the same, you should see me with sprays and paint, I have to go around and mop it off the floor (but still my carpet in the craft room has great splatters of colour) and the phone, and the camera and the .... well you get the gist lol. I love this angle shot of your desk, just been having a nosy and all your wonderful wooden stamps, they are some super lush ones there, love the birds. All those Christmas cards ready, wow your doing so well, I had made some but my sister pinched them all last week so now I have to get busy making cards this weekend lol. I love the card on your desk, I can't see much but it looks gorgeous. Hope the painting of the rest of the doors go well. Happy Woyww :-) Kezzy xxxxx
ReplyDeleteHow come your desk is so darn neat!!!! I have glitter all over!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy wednesday
Howdy Julia,
ReplyDeleteYou're like me - I just had to spread out this week!
Good job on the door.

Thanks for visiting me. I usually leave my comment when I link up but I did it from my phone and couldn't give your desk my full attention!
ReplyDeleteI imagine the doors will look great. I had to laugh at your description of you using a paint gun! Yep, I could so easily vision that! It looks like you need a bigger button jar!
I'll try to get something done with the clothes pins by next Wednesday!
Hugs,
Kay
Can't keep away can I?
ReplyDeleteI am about to start my decorating so any tips for the painting bits? lol
I have my cards sorted ... does that count?
Bishopsmate #68
Your desk is super tidy! Gotta love that my arm is going to fall off, hand cramps that last hours, brain has turned to mush because you have written something personal and meaningful in every freakin' card time of year. Or is it just me? ;) Thanks for giving us a glimpse into your world. xx
