What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 231

There's a flashy bar across the top of this 'ere blog with buttons to press...two of them will explain how to WOYWW.  Not that it's a verb you understand, but oh, well.
Stand back people.
I may have been a bit absent from the blog (on my recruitment drive!), but not all my moments have been spent at real work.  Look and wonder...

Wonder at my inability to work tidily.  Or indeed, to fully tidy between things.  Look at the overflowing bin..good grief, you'd think I'd empty that before I swung around on my lovely stool and kicked it over wouldn't you?  Hmm...it would seem not...this is the 'after I knocked it over' look.  Wonder too that I'm almost  - almost - playing.  Just fiddling about with the germ of an idea that was blown to me via Pinterest.  I think.   You can see the old fashioned land line style phone.  I was pretending to be in the office! Now I can see two pairs of glasses...my workdesk glasses and the ones I keep at my armchair for iPad and crochet and reading.  Must relocate those before I forget where they are and have a tantrum! The basket in near front is a leftover from the workshop last week and an item unpacked but not put away from our Retreat weekend.  They are MDF bauble shaped blanks and I was going to decorate a few.  I may yet.  The idea of leaving it in the way is to force action.  Watch this space!  Or better yet, watch some spaces by visiting a few participants....and then join in yourself.  Link here, put WOYWW in your post title so that we can find you easily.  Scheduling a post for WOYWW is not against any rule as far as I know.  What I'm trying to avoid is the linking of posts that weren't written as/about WOYWW and dated days ago...those are just linked here to achieve more traffic I guess...but it doesn't pay off particularly..once I realise it's not a WOYWW post I click away, and I can't be the only one!
Anyhoo...link on Deskers, there's inspiration to be shared!

  1. Had to giggle at your overflowing waste bin, mine looks identical tonight! Also, the 2 pairs of glasses! I have pairs scattered all over the house, in my car and also in my handbag! LOve your baubles, hope you get them altered soon! Loving your tidy desk, I am so impressed!

  2. Wow, Julia, are you ever going to slow down? Every time I visit, you seem to get busier and busier!

I cleared my desk off this weekend - but have been too busy baking to use it! But, something yummy over at my blog awaits you!

    Have a deliciously crafty week!

  3. Hi Julia,

I'm number 5! I would have been number 1 if I had a decent computer...... haaaa.

I also click away if it's not a WOYWW related post. Your desk looks quite busy (I've been knitting in my rocker/recliner). I can just see you dialing away on that phone!

    Happy WOYWW
    Peace,

  5. Hi, Julia, happy to hear that you are feeling inspired to create and play. My trash can usually looks like your overflowing one -- you're not the only one. :) Looking forward to seeing what you do with the MDF baubles! Happy WOYWW from Laura the Bookworm, #10

  11. I'm posting a bit early for our area but once I go off to dreamland I may not awake until late in the day. Dark, Dreary, Misty and possibility of SNOW..just pure depressing. Will be good for my camera class homework.
I like the old phone on the card, just like my grandma's!! Sounds like we all have overflowing things under our desk. And mine ain't just trash.

  12. My desk is almost clean but wanted to share a last pic of FS waving Hi/Bye. Glasses I see and guess I needed stronger ones as I don't see any ol land line phone?! Oh well, I do love the ink colors you're playing round with tho.

  13. I keep a small black square of a thing on top of my desk for trash. Too many times, wanted items ended up in the trash on the floor! I have to be careful that things that aren't supposed to be thrown away end up in the trash! LOL
It is fun to see that you have some of the same ink pads and other things that I have on your desk. I don't know how you came up with this WOYWW thing, but I love it and it is so fun! Thank you!

  15. Waste bin? what waste? can't it be used for something?
Keeping my glasses on all the time is the only way i know where they are- and still sometimes I can;t find them!

  16. Ahh, the overflowing waste bin, know it well. I thought I would be clever and got two bins but now I have two overflowing bins, so you can't win. I did find if I leave it long enough, hubby gets fed up and empties it for me, you could try that. Those bauble blanks look like fun, something like that might keep my little miss amused in the school holidays. Love your messy desk, reminds me of mine :)
    Have a great week.

  19. I see the tidy desk is history, but I have faith in you. All will be put in its place, just like the overturned chair. SO FUNNY!!

I'm not playing this week, but simply had to stop by and say hello, then catch up on what I've missed.

  20. I am with you on the eye glasses. I have a pair in the kitchen (need to read the mail) a pair at my end of the sofa (to see my cell phone), one pair on Betsy and one pair beside my bed (for just plain reading) and one pair in my purse. LOL to I'll see your two and raise you three!

  21. It's hard to believe another week has been swept under the rug. Time sure flies at this time of the year. Your desk is looking pretty organized to me...I hope you remember to put those glasses where they belong. I'm always hunting for my husbands I'm blind as a bat without mine, I guess that's a good thing, at least I know my glasses are always on the end of my nose! Have a crafty week! Happy WOYWW!

  27. Hi Julia, I too like to leave new bits on the desk so I'm encouraged to use them...I suppose this week for me it's leaving the mangoes to ripen on the back balcony so you can smell them and not forget to attend to them before they're all over-ripe and rotting. My waste basket overflows all the time and I find it amazing how much more I can shove into it still. Cheers RobynO #40

  28. Hi Julia
Good to see you 'just playing' for a change so much of what we do is 'need to' have you ever thought of putting your glasses round your neck, you know grandma style I'm told its difficult to loose them then hehe but maybe not a good look.
    Have a good week

  43. Morning Julia, I'm going to show your pic of an overflowing desk to OH and point out that it is not just me whose bins (yes 2 of them) always seem to be over flowing with bits.
Well you are being strict about posts, doing the head mistress bit properly. For some it must be quite difficult getting a pic of Wednsday's desk and writing a blog about it and getting it posted on Wednesday, especially for those whose lives are cluttered up with a 'proper job'. However I agree that seeing someone's Sunday desk may be nice but not entitled Wednesday.
    Thanks for hosting.

  44. It seems there are a few of us that have a trash can that looks exactly like yours. However, this does not mean we are trash makers, it just means we love to craft and emptying trash is the last thing on our minds. I just keep shoving it down and down and when I finally do empty it it is jammed in there! Love your desk this morning. Have a happy Wednesday! #67

  67. Happy Wednesday Julia! I love your busy desk, and your pairs of glasses--I have about ten around the house I think. And I still need new ones! I'm going back to bifocals. No likey the progressive lens. I barely made the list today, after a crazy week of taking care of my mom (she's still in a healthcenter recovering) and having my little nephew all weekend. But, as usual, I couldn't miss out on the fun, even if I haven't been crafty for a few days. Hugs dearest! Sandy Leigh #97

  68. I think it's the law that crafters can't ever tidy up completely and they certainly can't work tidily. I have to say that after you mentioned old-fashioned phone I went back and looked for the landline before I figured out what you meant. The bin on the bottom looks out of control but everything else looks like business as usual.

It has a place but does in no way replace a blog so it is wonderful to come to your site and see your write ups on life in the messy lane. And where oh where does the universal idea that tidy is so great come from. Glossy magazine and the unreal world they create.
