WOYWW? (What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday) 206

My life, it's getting close to the fourth anniversary, which is week 208. Check out the sidebar links to pages that explain the what and the why about WOYWW and the anniversary if you want to join in.  Are you ready?  No, nor me.  But it's OK, there's loads of time.  Unless you have some tidying up to do..then it may be a good idea to start on that....check me out:-

Untidy.  Oh yeah.  That's untidy.  I had made two cards.  The second is really what caused all the mess, and I actually will be tidying before I start again at some stage today...this is too much, even for me.  Mostly because I'm down to two pairs of scissors in the little basket at top left, which means I've 'lost' five pairs on my desk already...so enough is enough!!   The strange black and white photo is of my brother in law and chum (unknown) when they were in their 20s and in a deeply heavy rock phase. We found it whilst clearing out some stuff in the Joinery the other day.  It's very damaged, but I'm going to do something with it for him.  At some stage.  Really.  Apart from rapid onset weeds visible on the patio, I don't think there's much that's new there.  You eagle eyed will spot something, no doubt!
So join in won't you.  Read the 'about' page and if it's clear, link here!  Look forward to seeing you!  And don't be surprised if you get the odd visit from people who don't yet have blogs....there are lots of browsers out there - you certainly don't need a blog to be a desk watcher!

  1. That's a really cool pic of your BIL. Love the card. Loosing supplies on your desk, I can relate to that. Happy crafting #5

  2. Your patio looks a lot better than mine or even my driveway, which is filled with weeds that sprouted up this spring.

Love that photo. I can see it sanded around the edges and attached to a grungy rocking page.

    Happy WOYWW, dear friend.

  3. Not been able to sleep the past 2 nights, probably due to new dentist appointment this morning! So have been awaiting your posting eagerly, only to be pipped at the post by Neil! There is one other pair of scissiors visable on your desk btw (bottom right) but as the the others, best have a sort out. BJ#2

I've been crafting on my DR table. The cats believe that if it's on the DR table, it is definitely a mealtime snack!

    HAppy WOYWW!

  13. hi Julia
your desk has lots of interesting things on it for us to look at today. You didn't mention the two cards we can see and there must be others because you have used cut and dry foam there sorry didn't manage to find your scissors.
I hope you have a great day today and enjoy WOYWW.

  17. Happy WOYWW. Scissors - I haven't counted how many pairs I have, but they all live in a pretty purple pot right in front of my 'working zone'. My trimmer lives underneath the desk right by my feet, so I am covered for all cutting/trimming occasions! Ali x #28

  20. Just about to leave Ljubliana for Italy for a few day so popped in to say a quick "HI!" It's all because of WOYWW D and I met up and are having this amazing opportunity, so thank you dear Julia!
Lovely card on the desk and I think it might be a good idea to add a photo of each mess in with the card to show just how much has gone into making it!!
    Bye for now, must go!

  21. Ha! I thought I was the only one that needed lots of scissors. Really-I have 8 pairs at my finger tips, when they are all picked up that is. Many times I am down to one pair...all others buried as well! We certainly are two peas in a pod!

  23. Lol I'm in need of tidying up today before starting my next project as my desk is super messy I'm dreading going up there lol but will take a picture of fun creating. I love the cards you have made, can't quite see all of the second one but I so like the colours. Ooooo I spy some bigger buttons not in the jar and wow they are so bright and colourful. Shame about the photo damage but I'm sure you will make it into something wonderful. Happy woyww :-) hugs Kezzy xxx

  24. Yikes!! But weeds are good right? You can't see weeds if you have snow on the ground and for them to grow you need rain AND sun, right? Weeds are good then.

Love the I heart choc mug and the old-timey photos are fantastic!! It will be wonderful for you to affix them somehow so they can be treasures for the future gene rations! Have a wonderful week, Julia! Darnell #38

  25. That's a busy desk you've got there Julia not messy! Love old photos don't you? I was given a whole biscuit tin of them when my Dad died dating right back to Edwardian times- I'll do something with them.....some day!

  26. It is good to see you back at being creative this week, the card looks great and I see you still have that lovely bag of buttons there too. As for the weeds , well they grow what ever you do at least they are green and colourful he he

  27. Oh well, you know, it doesn't look TOO bad, to me, but then again, if you've lost five! pairs of scissors then I guess some tidying (or at least rearranging), is required.

  28. I thought the photo was an album cover...show's you my age!! They do, indeed look like rockers. It seems that mid-century fashions are all the rage and that's just fine with me. I love the card you are working on and think it's grand your working at your desk as you learn your new job!
I'm afraid I made a mess of my post this week, and sadly don't know how to fix it. The first one for Sara j is incorrect...it's No. 47 that has this week's post.
I'll miss you all next week, but happily I will be back for the BIG anniversary!!

  29. Morning Julia, I expected no less than a mess. I'm not saying you're normally messy and it's not that I've come to expect it, but now that you are the carpenter's apprentice, just when do you find time to tidy your desk, let alone wage war with the weeds. The ancient, if damaged photo, is brilliant - your BIL is going to love being reminded of that phase in his life :)) Have a great day. Elizabeth x #37

  30. Hi Julia, Scissors with legs, yep I have a few of them! Love your little vintage card on your desk today. The photo of your BIL is a great find. I am sure the damage can be overcome for you to be able to use it. Hugs Mo x

  33. ah dear Julia - your desk shot made me feel totally at home!!!

... mine is often like that but every fortnight (cleaning day) have one big clean up then explode for another fortnight ..

well slight exaggeration, but I can so understand how your scissors are lost.
I have three and sometimes cant find any. Really have four but one set has been so lost for so long dont count it any more.

I wonder if you can throw scissors out as beginning to feel may have gone visiting somewhere, along with my swirl die... and embossing buddy??

  39. Your desk looks amazingly interesting and what's a few weeds on the patio: they add character! I made a huge mess yesterday just making a tag - how does it happen? Took me ages to clear up and it was 9.00pm before we could have supper! Have a great week and thanks for all the fun that WOYWW brings.x

    ReplyDelete
  40. And here I tidied up my desk for this weeks WOYWW! Usually it's organised chaos, like yours... right? LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I think scissors must be related to socks - both are always getting lost.

If it wasn't for the fact that I live on a main street you could almost imagine that my house is in the middle of a meadow - well that's what I've been trying to convince myself everytime I look at the grass and weeds that are shotting up at a rate of knots (ground is far too wet to get the mower out).

  42. Good Morning, Julia.
    Happy Wet Wednesday to you.
We are all going scissor spotting now, I can see 2 in the pot and 2 on the desk so far- will have to look closer.
Perhaps we could do it as a spot the ball (er Scissor) competition!
    Have fun

  43. Good morning, Julia. How is it that the desk gets so untidy?? I only made three cards yesterday, and suddenly - everything everywhere. It just doesn't add up, now does it?? Great card, though. Love it! Weeds.
Now why do they grow faster than the flowers?
Have a great week. I'm off to look for your scissors.

  110. Hello Julia

What a desk, laughed when I read about the missing scissors. Too tired to even think about crafting tonight, still typing quotes, just nosing whilst I wait I hope for the final one for the night, its been full on in our joinery workshop this week...it goes like that don't you find. I hope the scissors turn up and I hope to be back joining in soon

  111. Love the photo. Think your desk is tidier than mine - and the scissors thing is so familiar. I was looking at my photo as uploaded and saw a pair of mine!

  114. That's a cool photo, can't wait to see what you do with it. Thankfully, grunge would be perfectly appropriate for that one!

  115. Happy WOYWW! Love the picture, was trying to work out if it was an old album cover (I still have a few feet of those and some 78s as well). Glorious craftiness going on there. Well done to lose *5* pairs of scissors. You have to really be in the zone to do that : D. The outcome is lovely I really like that card with the bit of something at the diagonal. And Graphic45 stamps? Hope your week is glorious! #116

  116. Hi Julia,
I can lose things and look for hours - only to find them where I looked first!
Love the photo., and I like the card too.
I did get your message about the crop, I am not sure I can manage it, I seem to be so busy at the moment despite not working.

  117. Weird, I added my link, added a comment and then the link was gone, so have added it again. This happened a couple of weeks ago too!

  118. OK I was wrong, last time I refreshed I was gone, and when I clicked it gave me 151 again. I refreshed again to check it was still there and now I am there twice, oh boy!

  119. Love peeking at your desk each week Julia, but even more I love the view from your desk out the doors. I wish I had windows like that.
I've made a little something for you for the WOYWW anniversary and I was wondering if you could email me an address that I could send it to. My email is scrapworx@hotmail.ca
    See you next week!

  120. Happy Wednesday! Hope you find your scissors. At least your glasses are on top. That's a neat vintage seamstressy card in the foreground there. Happy week. ~ Laura a/k/a Bookworm #154

I see a couple of pairs of scissors peaking out from the pile on the right side! Good luck finding the rest!

  124. I'm late to the party this week -- post went up on time, but I forgot to come and link it here. You look as busy as ever! Hope you find those rascally scissors!!

  125. looks like loads of fun going on here
messy is a good thing to me. I'm leaving chalk dust everywhere lately. I do not notice details too good as far as what is new. I must admit my eye always goes right to a window scene. and I want to see what is out the window most times. always hoping Ill spot a critter or a birdie out there
