Information about our weekly met up HERE
Information about why next week is special and how to take part in a WOYWW with added benefit HERE
You may want to stand back for this one. Seriously, even in the slightly late Tuesday light, my desk for Wednesday is a crisis...
It's sheltering unpacked from the tote but not unpacked baskets from last Thursday's workshop, new purchases and magazine catch ups, samples from last Saturday's workshop and the detritus of a session of looking for something. Something so important that I can't remember what, or why!
Seriously, there are actually layers to be excavated! You may like the tin plate sign, I know it's a truth for a lot of you deskers. But I don't have a cat so I'm going to erm, alter it. The sign that is. Not the cat that I don't have. Don't ask me when. You can see, my plan to do something with the black and white photo of my Brother In Law is no further forward; you're not surprised are you? One good thing - that photo hides my pile of ATCs for next week anniversary edition of WOYWW. How ridiculous and fun this all is.
Please join in, it's very easy as explained in the link above (or at left in the margin of this post). We'll visit..in my case, very slowly..this Apprentice-ship thing has me making window boards yesterday and today...so gimme sometime to stop hurting and some strength to stay awake once I sit in my chair!
Your desk isn't really that bad. Wait til you see mine. Love that tin sign. Happy crafting #3
ReplyDeleteoh poor Julia, I feel your pain... I'd love to rummage through the layers (layers sound better than piles, don't you think? I am going to have layers of "stuff" in future too. lol!) Have a fabby day, if you unbend and unstiffen... Helen, 5
ReplyDeleteIknow that feeling of 'lost' when one returns from a craft day away. It just makes ones desk look productive hey lol
ReplyDeleteBridget #8
I got a message from Vickie that she is OK. She said her DD had photos on Vickie's Facebook page. I was concerned, too!
ReplyDeleteI have a cat and he is definitely spoilt rotten. Happy WOYWW, dear friend.
G'day Julia
ReplyDeleteOMG I think your desk looks perfectly fine LOL...isn't putting stash away after being away the pits. I'm off to a paper crafting event next month and I too shall have a similar desk after that. Go soak the body and create art when you are less tired.
hugs
Annette In Oz #3
Layers on the desk sounds normal to me... Normally means ive been busy and not had time to clear up
ReplyDeleteJackie8
Layers!!! Are you building up for a big giant mess reveal next week lol
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the altered sign xo
Your desk is always full of great ideas and I fully understand when the best of ideas have to sit on the desk for a little while. The apprenticeship thing sounds like a lot of work but I am sure the process will be worth it in the end. Have a lovely week.
ReplyDeleteSandra @21
at least the crisis is nice and colorful! i love that sign, everyone says our cat is spoiled, LOL!
ReplyDeleteI know a lot of people who would love that sign as is, but looking forward to seeing how you alter it. waving hi from the hills of North Carolina ♥
ReplyDeleteThe true sign of an artist is a messy desk!!!
ReplyDeleteMy desk must be your twin, it will get done when its done. no worries. Francesca #27
ReplyDeleteOh Julia cannot imagine an altered cat - unless it is like the dog I saw on TV at the million paws walk, to raise money for our RSPCA - a dog, whose owner had multi-dyed it's fur :D did look ultra cute.. but not sure it enjoyed the procedure...
ReplyDeleteA pile of atc's .."me dips me lid, m'lady "...
you are organised, I have vaguely thought about starting but keep drawing blanks.
...hopefully more inspired by next week - happy WOYWW and may less aches be your lot, love Shaz in Oz.x #24
An altered cat.....I like the sound of that.....I am sure I have seen one on YouTube! :-)
ReplyDeleteKyla #32
Hi Julia all is going well. We missed being hit by about 5 miles and I am ever thankful for that. I posted on my blog about it this week. Btw the desk doesn't look much worse then mine does and I haven't been doing much of anything! Have a great week. Vickie #26
ReplyDeleteHi Julia
ReplyDeleteSnap my desk is just like yours going to unravel the layers later this morning so I can play.........
Frankiesue #36
There's a new science these days....desk stratigraphy! Yours may well feature in the textbooks ;-)
ReplyDeleteActually, I don't think it's that bad!!
Hugs, LLJ 40 xx
oh dear im all 6s and 7s this morning started off with teh wrong week number ! anyway all is now correct !.it wouldn't be the same without some layers now would it intrigued by the cats sign who knows what it will be become ready for next week and have made my first ATCplanned to do more but not looking possible maybe next year ! have a good week will go hopping after work
ReplyDeleteAndrea
I like a messy desk and always enjoy looking at your one.. Mine is all tidy its disappointing really as it means that I have been doing other things and none of them on my desk the last few days, will have to rectify that very soon.
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW
Sandy :)
Can't wait to see how you're going to alter the cat! You never know what you may find when you get to that last layer....Lord Lucan ? Shergar? The Meaning of Life? Have a great day see you in 3 weeks! Debs x
ReplyDeleteQuietly thinking about Oklahoma people.
ReplyDeleteEarly bird today - well for me anyway! Another excited swapper here - er - ATCs of course - what else! x Jo
ReplyDeleteHappy wednesday julia
ReplyDeletegood to see you like layering your desk .... just like layering your cards, hope you find what you are looking for
janet #18
looks pretty good to me....
ReplyDeleteHave been sat praying the last 24 hours for all the Oklahoman people that have had such an awful disaster happen to them....
love to the world
Lisa #47
xx
Hi Julia! I'm adding my first WOYWW link! Hope you like it. xo
ReplyDeleteHi Julia,
ReplyDeleteI think we would all love to rummage through those layers for you.
Although I am away in Barcelona next week. I will try to post so that I can join in the swap.
Rosie x
Lots going on there today Julia....guess there will be ATCs hiding on most desks today :-)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
A x
Hey, we're told to build up in layers when composing art pieces so why not a have work space in layers, too?!
ReplyDeleteJoel (aka, Barf Snoodlefart #53)
Morning Julia and how exciting is it getting for next week? I can't imagine how you cope with your desk it gives me the heebee geebees! Well done on keeping up with your apprentice-ship, men's work is often harder on the body isn't it? Gentle Hugs. BJ #51
ReplyDeleteOther peoples layers always look so much more fun, and yours don't disappoint! My Atc's are out of sight too, unless anyone can mind read!
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW
((Lyn)) 55#
Well at least you have been creating, mine is just a messy but without any creation! Hope the job is still going well.....Hugs, Anne x57
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts are with our friends in Oklahoma too, I pray that Vicki is safe.
Sorry that should say #53!!
ReplyDeleteYour desk looks extremely interesting - I'd love a rummage!
ReplyDeleteAt least your specs aren't sandwiched in those layers.
ReplyDeleteHope the aches & pains wear-off quickly.
Toni xx
Ah right, you don't have a cat who you need to alter! I do and she features over on my desk today!Really I wouldn't change her for the world..I'm not surprised your desk is hectic with all you have to do. I see your glasses are prominent, though. I can never find mine! Thinking of those affected by the tornadoes too, although I don't actually know anyone personally. Have a good WOYWW xxx
ReplyDeleteEveryone is either early or this will be a record-breaking WOYWW. I'm entering about the same time as normal, and I'm at double the usual number!
ReplyDeleteThank you for mentioning OK. I'm praying for Vicki and all those other poor folks.
I know you've aches and pains, but are you loving your Apprenticeship? I hope so! Do you want me to send Anita B. Clean over to help you out with the desk clean? She does great work!
Thanks, as always, Julia! If you did a survey, I wonder how many of us are just starting our ATCs right now?! xo Darnell #65
Your desk would be right at home at my place. My desk is normally that way, it's unusual to be tidy.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
Von # 67
Your works space looks to be in production mode!lol! xx Jan
ReplyDeleteJulia, your desk looks wonderful... your desk says, I am a very busy girl. I'm off to bed, but had to stop by to say hello and share my day. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThat's just a normal crafters desk, Julia, don't stress. We all have layers that need excavating, it's just that we don't share them every week...the shame!! Unpacking after workshops is just a pain isn't it.
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW
Hugs Lisax #70
I'll comment later!
ReplyDeleteYour desk is great. My table , and everywhere else is covered at the moment!! I am also thinking of and praying for everyone in Oklahoma. Looking forward to joining in the fun next week. Anne x #74
ReplyDeleteHi Julia
ReplyDeleteoh my word just look at that desk, I don't think we have ever seen a desk quite like that from you before.
Hope you find what you are looking for and that as you work through your projects your desk comes back into view for you
Sending hugs on this WOYWW have a great day
Ria #27
although im a neat freak i do love looking at peoples messy desks, they look so much more exciting than mine. I want to have a good old rummage through them to see what i can find.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week Julia and im looking forward to 208
Gill x
far too tidy a desk for me.........one can see your glasses!!!
ReplyDeleteI am making and clearing (ugh!) as I catch up after my hols.
Praying we hear from Vickie soon.
Happy WOYWW day!

ReplyDeleteI feel so much better after seeing your desk Julia :D
ReplyDeleteand I thought your sign said 'A very spoilt CAR lives here'!!! I really need to go to Specsavers ! LOL
Happy WOYWW
Karen #79
I meant to say,I am sharing what I do with my "stuff" today after making it... if you are in the area of my desk !! (5)
ReplyDeleteI've been 'missing' for ages but am back now and ready to surf (web not wave). Maybe you should get a meercat, then you only have to add a few letters to the sign.
ReplyDeleteGood to be back.

Sorry I have not joined in for a few weeks but I am back now trying to gt everything back to normal. Hope you are well and thanks for all the lovely comments about Dad. I will hop along with as many as possible later on, jenxx
ReplyDeleteNo matter how many 'layers' you have, just enjoy - that's a crafter for you! Our spoilt rotten cat is on my blog today too. I think most kitties are spoilt anyway! Happy WOYWW! Karen85 x
ReplyDeleteI just wish I had a desk that was that big! LOL
ReplyDeleteOnce we move house I have been promised a whole craft room/office :-) xx
dont fret, my desk is exactly the same, but if they were constantly tidy it would only demonstrate how little work we did, as for ufo's i have a million - and the count is growing with every effort i make on the 'tidy house quest'
ReplyDeleteNow I don't think that's bad - new goodies can never look untidy!! Chris88 Have I really got here before 100!
ReplyDeleteI think ours may rival yours this week, we're stash sorting and wishing we'd never started.
ReplyDeleteMy desk looks no different to yours today lovely. Looking forward to this afternoon. x x
ReplyDeleteMust get on with my atc's but a couple of birthday cards are in the way plus prep for the show. Will do it though!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the celebration - do you ever sit back and think about what you started. You deserve a knighthood.
Hugs, Neet x 2
All great desks, crisis alike!!!
ReplyDeletePrayers and healing Light to all, especially Oklahoma today and for days to come.
Art Heals!
Robyn 94
So many projects, so little time..... certainly feels that way here this week. Have a good one, Cindy
ReplyDeleteAwh bless, you poor thing, but I think you're among a great group of women and a few men. All of our desks look exactly like that, you'll sort it out. It certainly looks exciting :O). Hope you have a restful day and thanks for sharing it..
ReplyDeleteLots of lovely layers of art sediment shows a busy and creative brain so its all good :-)
ReplyDeleteJulia, when I look at your desk I think of a very creative person that just hasn't had the time to be tidy. #93
ReplyDeleteI've often told my Mom that the creative explosions she lives with aren't conducive to her getting anything done. She counters that it's always so exciting when she's moving stuff around because she never knows what she might find! I think you are somewhere in between those two states right now lol! Lovely mess miss!
ReplyDeleteAngie #99
One crafter's mess is another's treasure trove! Cool new glasses in the previous post. :) Happy WOYWW! Nan G #105
ReplyDeleteGood morning/afternoon, Julia! I see that Vickie has posted at #26 -- I was thinking of her, too. I think it's good to always have new things at hand and new ideas on the horizon. Can't imagine the feeling of, "Well, I've made every card and scrapbook page that the world needs!" Happy WOYWW from Laura (Bookworm) #107
ReplyDeleteYou know, in your own words, if we can see some of the desk it's not that bad..... and as we can see some of the desk... but really, you have a valid excuse now. I would imagine being an apprentice is taking up a lot of you time!
ReplyDeleteHugs
Brenda
Oh you poor Julia... keep breathing dear! It will all find its place again... sometime :) Happy woyww, Marit #109
ReplyDeleteI know that "lost something" feeling only too well. I need to find it before I can move on! Not sure that I have as many layers as you, but my ATCs are sure on my desk, hence why I am not joining in this week!
ReplyDeleteHope you find your marbles soon!
Hugs
xx
Layers, I've Definitely BeenThere Before! Oh The Feeling You Get OnceYou StaRt Clearing Those Layers Away Though!
ReplyDeleteLooks just like my desk this morning! I am exactly the same, so many plans to make things and alter things and then they sit there for quite some time, in my case, years!
ReplyDeleteDebxx
Ohh I love to see what other crafters are up to and what they have on there desks.....
ReplyDeleteNikki x
Hi Julia. Many thanks for stopping by. The cards have a list of what I've used in each project and a "how to". By the time I teach the class I've usually forgotten all the measurements! Pam#20
ReplyDeleteI've so struggled with un-organized spaces. Still working on my room but now I have the upper hand. Your sign would be perfect in my house, our cat is the queen and she definitely rules over us. Anyway, have fun playing with your new goodies!
ReplyDeleteCarol N #118
Hi Julia, sorry I am late with my comments, I linked up this morning in a hurry and forgot to say hello (how rude!). I know exactly where you are at with loading and unloading for each class, but layers can only stay on my desk for a minimum amount of time otherwise I get really frustrated when I cant find anything. I like your idea about given the same componants would we come up with the same or similar card, maybe we should try it sometime. Have a great day and thanks for the visit. Hugs Mo x
ReplyDeleteBut what fun surprises lurk there is the question. Chaos but Creative possibilities abound! Creative Blessings! Kelly #120ish
ReplyDeleteHello Julia,
ReplyDeleteYep, I'd say you have several layers going on there! There's so much to see though.
That black and white photo looks very cool - can't wait to see what you do to it.
Happy WOYWW
Kay (6)
always inspiring to see everyone's workspace!!!! Thank you for hosting Julia!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your desk as always Julia, I would love to have a rummage around on your desk!! x
ReplyDeleteHi Julia,
ReplyDeleteWell, I for one, prefere to see something like your desk, as to a cleared off cutting mat. You have someting to look at and we are all doing that and taking a good rumage through stuff too! LOL
Krisha #50
Loved looking at all the layers you have on your desk - a fun place.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a very productive work desk to me--
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting us!
But, isn't excavating layers so much fun? You never know what you'll find under there. **grin**
ReplyDeleteHappy Woyww!
Sandy #119
Was lovely to see a photo of you the other day in your glasses. Thanks for the visit to my very pink layout in Cape Town already! #63
ReplyDeleteIt's a mixed media kinda desk. That's all about the layering.
ReplyDeleteFiona x
you say "layers" like its a bad thing.
ReplyDeletelooks wonderful to me.
Wow - you're desk is really a busy one eh?
ReplyDeleteI'm linking up some ATC's/ACEO's I made today.
Sarah @ A Cat-Like Curiosity
I am taking holidays from my workdesk - so big excuse for not posting regularly during the following 5-6 weeks. I wont have a workdesk just the canapé, the lap, the terrace table or else the Adriatic see - with its salty water - or the coffeehouse table. But here is what I made those past days - very little projects.

ReplyDeleteHi Julia! Today was my first day to participate! I'm so excited to join in. Your desk looks great and creative. I can't create in an un-messy area :) Thank you for hosting this event!
ReplyDeleteThat's nothing - wait till you see mine!!!
ReplyDeleteMy desk always look like yours! I always hope that when I finally clean it, it will stay that way. But, no.
ReplyDeleteI just went to Vickie's blog to check on her and I was happy to find she wasn't hit by that horrific, heartbreaking tornado!
Can't wait for the swap next week!!
xxDaniella#97
Hello!
ReplyDeleteWhen you have clutter, you always have such glorious clutter! Proof of the wonderful creativity that is you! Wishing you a happy day!
Hugs,
Barbara Diane
Looks like my desk when I'm in the middle of a project. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the little sign.
ReplyDeleteWhats a busy woman to do? Life is not endless clearing up. Only necessary when you loose the last pair of scissors.
ReplyDeleteMonica 103
It's strange how all the things you get out to use never seem to fit back in the same place! and heaven forbid you misplace something lol.Look forward to seeing your altered cat.....sign.
ReplyDeleteHappy art making
Lottie #132
I see a desk layered in treasures!
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, Love that sign ... I have one that says "A Spoilt Dog Lives Here ..." soooo true lol! Thanks for sharing and Happy Woyww Liz@145
ReplyDeletePhew, getting back into the swing of crafting
ReplyDeletehttp://wp.me/p3wFxJ-BC
Hah. You've got more than 100 comments by now. But, if you've read this far, I can tell you that the weird circles cut out of paper are really stickers that look like Swedish graduation caps. Check my Thursday blog post for a better pic of some of those stickers. Thanks for this lovely Wednesday treat! =D
ReplyDeleteThankyou so much for leaving me a lovely comment on my blog. I think your desk isn't half as bad as you think this week - sign of a true crafter! x
ReplyDeleteSorry Julia, I tried to edit my post and it disappeared so I've had to link again - technology isn't my strong point!! Chrisx
ReplyDeleteI feel my fingers itching to help you clear your desk, Julia. Too bad I live so far away. That sign is telling you something ... you need a cat :)) Hugs, Elizabeth x #81
ReplyDeleteGuess who published her blog post this morning and forgot to link! Oops! Carole Z #151
ReplyDeleteGood evening, julia. Afraid my desk is full of layers too - the end result of about 15 cards. The left shuffle played to extremes this week! Have a great week - and believe me when I say your desk doesn't look that bad!!
ReplyDeletethanks for hosting - and wow - I want to dig through all your desk layers and discover goodies!
ReplyDeleteLove your desk! Sand 155
ReplyDeleteYou have craftermath too!
ReplyDeleteApril #131
Well I've been back from my trip a couple days and I haven't really unpacked yet either. #156
ReplyDeleteI want to see an altered cat! Your desk still looks tidy compared to mine!
ReplyDeleteCarol x
I never judge another person's desk. Some say a messy desk is a sign of creativity. Enough said. ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm liking your desk ;) It's not that messy at all!!! I finally participated... and will try to do so more often and do the rounds. Love seeing other peoples desk! And will be back next week for the ATC for sure!!! I have already an idea for mine ;)
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say thank you so much for voting for me, it sure means a lot to have support! It's a design idea that I submitted, nothing to see yet, and unless I win, we won't see anything at all, lol waving hi from the hills of North Carolina ♥
ReplyDeleteJulia, would you please remove me as #157. I found out that link takes people to my May 1 post. I have reposted as #162. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI like the 'spoiled cat' tag! As I have said cat at home :-)
ReplyDeleteFound some naughty people that arent playing WOYWW nice, they dont mention WOYWW or link back, so I guess they are only using your blog to gain traffic.

I really don't think any excavation is necessary...I consider depth a filing system, both at work and home! I have had some glittered cats; so moderate altering is possible....just sayin'
ReplyDeleteExcavating! Pretty much what my desk required this week, as well! lol I did put up a before and after picture as proof, though. :) Thanks, as always, for hostessing us in this fab linky party...even if I am a whole day late in joining up! tsk, tsk, right? :) Deeyll #166
ReplyDeleteI love your supply double basket. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteHey Julia - I got your message but you are a no-reply commenter so I couldn't reply without coming on over to your blog.
ReplyDeleteMy parties page is where I post all of the linky parties I join in with, as well as being open for others to add their parties too (kind of like a directory of linky parties). I don't attend all of them every week, and when I do I tend to try and find new people each week - I usually pick three new linkers (to me anyway) each week and pay them a visit.
I hope you are OK with my advertising your linky party on my page and providing that link within my post. I like to join in with a few different arty blog hops and this seems (to me) a neat way to display lots of linkups. I've certainly never had any complaints from other hop hosts.
WOYWW is one of my favourite hops to visit each week. Everyone usually seems so friendly.
