And see this beauty on my ugly desk, what a contrast huh! It's filled with 96 little squares in shades of blue that I've crocheted over the last few evenings..believe it or not, 3 balls of 50g soft cotton so far. I'm very surprised by how much yarn is used in these things. Anyway, these little squares - and yes, despite appearances of a roundy nature, they are squares - are destined to be joined into a long scarf for my sweet Mama's birthday. I know she will not read this or even see the pics, so it's OK to share with you. And I have to share because it's nearly an accomplished mission, and those are a bit few and far between this week. I'm expecting much better things of myself in the coming week, so watch do...I'll either show you progress or fall flat on my face. Place your bets!
Love the stars card, what a 'star' you are to cut them all out for them.... but re your crochet - shades of blue??? am I going colour blind? I see brown... lol.
ReplyDeleteI just love your stars! Oh so cute. And I LOVEeeee your background. So bright and cheerful. :)
ReplyDeleteLove your card, I think that is a fab design, have fun completing your scarf. xx Flora
ReplyDeleteThat card is fab and does look complicated at first. I look forward to seeing the finished scarf too

Great use for those stars, but crochet? You are a girl of many talents.
ReplyDeleteKyla
Crochet alludes me but I admire it in others oh so very much. Looking forward to seeing the finished article.
ReplyDeleteAh so this is what the stars were destined for! Lovely card!

great card and crochet but look brown to me as well. Anne x
ReplyDeleteOMG! I saw Shades of Gray instead of Blue and thought...wait is Julia into Shades of Gray? {{giggle}} I had pinned the card too sometime ago but can't find it. It may have been removed. If I put something on Pinterest I figure it is fair game so don't feel guilty. Do you know the acronym CASE? Create and Share Everything! Means you put it out there it is fair game! Love the card and bowl of blue bits!
ReplyDeleteThat is so weird ... the colour I mean, not the crochet. They are shades of brown on my computer. Very odd! Hope you finish it ok. I think the putting together will probably take longer than the actual crochet?
ReplyDeleteNice card with lots of texture :) I thought that was a bowl of cookies:) I would love to see the finished scarf
ReplyDeleteHere is the card on splitcoast stampers http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1981375
ReplyDeleteLovely card Julia, but shades of brown on my computer!

Hi Julia, you have made me feel better! I too have created something that I saw somewhere ages ago and cannot for the life of me remember where/when. I think the fact that you said so is enough. Love the card, the stars are fabulous. Also love the crochet, hope you will show the completed article on WOYWW. Hugs, Anne x
ReplyDeleteI love the way the stars came together and made such a wonderful card! Oh a scarf too; such a creative girl!
ReplyDeleteLove the star card, think you may have done the hardest bit for them if it was you who cut all the stars!! LOL Are you sure that scarf is blue? I will have to check my monitor cos they sure look brown to me! Glad you are actually doing some crochet as well as pinning it! (I often see your pins... and steal the sewing ones, the crochet ones are totally safe... no ways am I going there)!!
ReplyDeleteOh and thought I should say that on the few occasions that I have been unable to find my original source I have always had the person or someone who recognises let me know, amazing isn't it?
ReplyDeleteOf course, I love the crocheted squares !!!
ReplyDeleteThe card is brilliant, such a cool idea and the scarf will look fabulous xx
ReplyDeleteA very pretty card Julia. Aren't you the ambitious one..lots of little crochet items accomplished. Always fun to have on hand. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhooo baby! Stars and squares forever! I confess to doubting the squareness of your roundy bits, but I do believe your mum will be pleased!
ReplyDeleteI'm with Helen, the stars come off shades of brown on my computer, too! lol At any rate that is quite a feat and they look darling. I'm sure they'll make an awesome scarf. Do you use a magic ring to start them? And are they terribly difficult for say a not very experienced crocheter to do? I've always loved them but haven't tried my hand at them yet. :) And the card looks like it was a nice one for the class. How very thoughtful of you to get the tedious bits out of their way so they could have more fun! :)
ReplyDeleteadore the star card and can't wait to see the scarf. BJ
ReplyDeleteI am LOVING that star card, Julia but I swear those circles look brown and not blue in photo.
ReplyDeleteJust stopped by to see what you were up to, since I still can't see your links. Wanted you to know I'll join you some way for the 4th anniversary, whether I can see the links or not.
ReplyDeleteLove that star card. You did all the hard work by cutting all those stars. I can see why it would only take 5 minutes if I had someone running the die cutter for me!!
Have a super week.
Okay, I found put what the crochet bits are for. Lovely, she will love it I'm sure. Very intricate - all those ends!
