Dithering...or flitting...

Not an egg, or even a bunny...it's the best I can do......!
Mr Dunnit is working.  Miss Dunnit is working.  And I'm surveying the wreckage of doing more than one thing at once.  As I've said earlier this week, it really doesn't suit me!
I determined that before Miss D takes up all the sewing machine time in costume making ahead of the next Convention in May, I should get it out of my system.  (The urge to sew, not the convention).  And so I opened the 'sewing drawer'.  In the knowledge that it contains a cut out but no further forward top, and several pieces of fabric that were going to be summer tops last year.  Or the year before, I forget.  Whilst looking for the appropriate thread, I opened another drawer in this particular chest of them, and ended up clearing it out.  So now I've wasted an hour on dusty old birthday cards from years I can't remember, cables and leads from appliances we no longer own and for some very odd reason, quite a lot of unused plain HB pencils.  The sun is out - so I thought I'd set up in the conservatory, it's really quite balmy in there;  iron out the pinned on pattern pieces and get on with it.  And then I remembered that I had an email to respond to.  And here I am.  Now gentle reader, you tell me, is this Procrastination, dithering or flitting between jobs?  Or worse, is it all three?  The worse thing is..because the sun is still out, I quite fancy a walk.
Have a fabulous and peaceful Easter weekend.

  2. I call it puttering (pretty much my favorite thing to do outside of sleeping and eating chocolate). The little birdie on the card is singing, "Take a walk and listen to my song!" It will clear your mind, you will make plans (or not). There's really no down side. :) Wishing you a blessed Easter weekend. ~ Laura (bookworm.typepad.com)

  4. I love the way in which you combined the flags and the unique positioning of your stamp to form your border, Julia. Blessings!

  5. Your brilliant card beats a bunny or an egg any day, Julia! I love all the textures and, as they say, tons of movement!

As for dithering, I think (speaking for myself) that my focus button, like everything else, is just getting worn away. I really noticed it at my sisters, staging her house. I started calling it "Oh, look a squirrel," rather than ADD. I never flitted EVER and now that's all I do. I see squirrels everywhere and must go off in their direction and see what's happening. It used to make me twitch, but now I just go with it, childlike, without medication. So many squirrels, so little time. What was I saying?

  6. I think you flitted beautifully - the card is lovely (still love those dotty stems... ) I did a very little clearing out today dithering here too... it gave me a headache which is just clearing so maybe I can get inky soon! Enjoy the rest of your Easter.

  11. Julia, thank for your lovely comment on my labadorite bracelet. I set up my sewing machine on dining table a couple days ago. I DID use it...that day...keep thinking I'll be back to it...think it needs to go away so I can serve Easter dinner. Charlotte #16something this week

  12. You have NO idea how many times I have done this very same thing. Before I know it, the entire day is blown. When I was in grad school, I couldn't start my homework until my house was completely cleaned and picked up. Sad, but true. And I had homework every night, too. As I read your diatribe, I was sure you were actually talking about me.

Have a wonderful Easter, dear friend.

  15. Thought I had a gift for procrastination... looks like you run me a close second!

The little card is sweet though - I like the pennant-shapes, all up the side of the card - they set off that birdie very nicely.

    Good luck with the focus!

  17. Must be something in the air with all this drawer tidying :-) Whatever it's called, I'm guilty of it on a daily basis. Hey - we're still doing stuff, right?

    Happy Easter Julia x

  19. Why do we all colect redundant cables and charging plug that we haven't needed for 10 years? Also, why is that whenever we want a pen or biro, there is not one anywhere that works. So you go out and buy a packet of biros, only to find that half of them have already dried up. I also have a box of old birthday cards - boughten ones - that I shall never use and never really liked so I can't even make them over in any way. You carry on flittering and floating, and I will come over and join you. xx Maggie

  20. I think the official term for it now is PROCRAFTINATING! and as for redundant cables/chargers/ etc- don't even go there. you have no idea how many we have- due to Beloved Hubby being a bit of a pc repair person! Hugs, Shaz xx

  21. What a fabulous card. I shall steal the idea, I mean be inspired by it, for a couple of pieces. Great layout and a fab feeling to it.

  22. Procrastination is talking about something so never doing it but you are doing shtuffs so its not that. Could be either one of the other two but then I think both things are allowed for us creative types ;-)
