WOYW?W 180

Well, a week it apparently has been.  Oh Yoda, help us understand grammar and the passage of time in relation to warp speed.  You've seen what Mr Dunnit has been working on, and thanks to more impressive lighting and even more impressive photography, I bring you what Mrs Dunnit is working on.  (Me - that's me, just for the record).

Can you see anything?  Im depending on one light bulb...I have four spotlights in this room.  Three of them went *pouf* on Tuesday afternoon.  Scared the be-wotsit out of me I can tell you.  And now I have another chore for today..because I cannot possibly put up with light like this!  So you see my sexy glitter glue carousel.  No doubt a CD holder in a previous life, but it holds thirty bottles, so it's not bad.  I've decanted one pot of chewing gum into another. You can tell, it seriously reduces the clutter on my workdesk. There's Lyn's gift of a doodlybirds notebook...pressed into service as a handbag Christmas shopping list notebook reminder thing.  Except it's not in my handbag yet.  A small stack of small stamps...it pleases me, when I've used them, to abandon them neatly.  No really, I have no idea why I stacked them.  I was probably on the phone..a sort of 3d doodle.  You can see the tape machine -more on that later this week.  And you can just make out a card leaning on the iPad.  Glitter glue drying.  So that's full circle really.
I've shown you mine - you show me yours.  And if life isn't too difficult for ya, please visit a few others too, you'll be amazed at the sights..oh the places you'll see!  (Unquote).  Post onto your blog, put WOYWW in your post title, link here and let the erm, magic begin.

  1. So late nights do come in handy sometimes... That's a busy and effective looking CD holder, and I love the doodly bird notebook! Sorry to hear your life's been plunged into darkness - hopefully only temporarily!

  2. A moody lighting effect tonight! my body clock woke me yet again for the link up, despite having a day off to look forward to and a lie-in! Be round the desks later... laters! Helen, 3.

  5. It's amazing what a little repotting and reshuffling can do! I too have to have a lot of lamps -- so you can imagine my horror when I was painting Sunday and a thunderstorm kicked up and we lost the power for an hour! Am I really first here? Where are all the lovelies?! Happy WOYWW Julia dearest! --Sandy Leigh

  6. I like the Russian interrogation lighting technique but I think it's do my eyes in too! V. impressed with the cd case cum glitter glue holder! Sweet little Lynn notebook. I keep a notebook in my bag listing crafty purchases of things I might easily buy two of... like Distress Inks. You've probably guessed it hasn't stopped me buying two of a few things, but good luck with yours!!

Brenda - 1 again, all the others are slow pokes it seems!

  7. Oh Julia so sad to hear of the blown globes (let alone the fright!) - how annoying are things when they chose not to work as they should do - suffering a little of that here too! ah love your 3D doodle whilst on the phone..
.. and let there be light! God bless, Shaz in oz.x

  8. Well, it turns out I am wide awake, in the hotel, I am in awe of those stairs! They are truly a thing of beauty. Your desk? Not so much... :) too dark to work, you need sorting those spotlights. And I need to go stop playing and go to sleep.

I'm loving the atmospheric lighting Julia...it's all very moody ;D
The CD holder is a fantastic idea too!
I'm a little scared that lots of the WOYWW gang will be geared up for Christmas and it'll put me into a panic but maybe that's what I need to kick start me :D
    Have a great week ~ ♥Neesie♥

  14. I really like the mood lighting, Julia. The shadows make it all very interesting!! The CD spindle is a clever idea. Do you find it works well, and you can find what you want quickly?

Thanks for your instructions by email re my faulty link on Mr. Linky. You know, I'd never noticed that there was a box for the URL under my name!! Duh. It was there, clear as day (not like your desk lol!) linking to WOYWW 176... I've got it right this time, and will make sure I check it each time from now on. Sorry to everyone who kept getting linked to the wrong post.

Not a productive week for me this week in my ARTHaven, but I've bunged up a couple of photos from previous posts as my desk is not interesting this week.

Thanks for everything you do for us, Julia.

  18. Oh my, I'm ready to chuck out all my cds to use the holder for glitter glues, lol.

And, yes, your lighting is terrible. No one can possibly be expected to work in those conditions... you must get someone on it right away, dahling.

  20. yeah Julia, that pot of gum was the clutter problem, phew, glad you took care of that! And yes that glitter glue storage is totally sexy! Happy WOYWW! Lindsay-the frugal crafter:)

  21. LOl the spotlight technique you used to light your desk - way sexy! CD holder, well those will need organizing now. Amazing to me how much I look forward to having the weekly snoop! Those stairs - incredible!! You and Mr Dunnit are quite a talented pair! Sandi #29 so far

  22. I still can't see your linky thingy, so it's good thing I decided not to play again this week. It would be a futile mess.

Looks like the spotlight must be on MR. D. this week, because it's not exactly on your desk. I did like the glitter glue container idea, though. Now if I could just get rid of all those never used CDs, I'd put your idea to work.

Have a great week, dear friend. I haven't forgotten you (or WOYWW), I'm just having too many problems with blogger to try to play right now.

Love the stickles holder...That is a great idea.

I got a little long winded...Promise to be short and sweet next week.

  26. hmmm, i'm very interested in that glitter glue carousel and i'm trying to figure out how i can use the CD holder to make something useful like this! the desk does looks quite interesting in that lighting, Julia but i hope you get the other lights fixed soon. that is such a cute doodlybird notebook!

  30. Love the mood lighting, Julia, somehow brings the late poet laureate, Ted Hughes, writing The Thought Fox, to mind - I know, you don't want to live inside my head, the associations it can dream up!!! Every crafter should have a glitter tower and perhaps a 3D stamp tower too and it is impressive how much more space you now have after decanting the chewing-gum - ah, only at surreal o' clock would I be blethering like this. Have a great WOYWW. The EM is off to the hospital in the morning to have his hip x-rayed - he's in pain, poor man - so I'll be around later to do a bit of desk hopping. Elizabeth x #44

  34. Julia...When I saw your dimly lit desk, I thought, ohhh artsy! Then I read the post. Sorry! I had to laugh when I heard you describe stacked stamps. I don't know if you can see them in the first photo, but mine too are stacked and I have no idea why! Maybe it's great minds think alike? Or maybe we are both odd ducks! Well, have a most wonderful week!

  41. I think that's what's called 'mood lighting' - but if it puts you in a foul mood because you can't wee your work that's not good! Hope you get a new stash of bulbs soon. Happy WOYWW, hugs, Buttons #64

    ReplyDelete
  42. Oh dear Julia, you really need Mr D to fix those lightbulbs - don't try standing on ladders yourself....... been missing for a couple of weeks - sorry! Back now and happy about that. I stack my stamps too, must be a crfter thing? Hugs, Anne x #65

  49. One of my 2 big spotlights blew last week as well inthe dining room where I craft,. Unfortunately it was a bit more serious than just needing a bulb, as I discovered when I bought one. Seriously limits my crafting time at this time of year

    ReplyDelete
  50. So Yoda has been affecting your light bulbs too....they always all seem to blow at the same time don't they? I guess that's something to do with the fact they were all installed at the same time too and last about the same time eh?

  53. Why do bulbs always do that - I have 4 spots in my kitchen and they either go poof in threes or on consecutive days...still, the effect for your photo is great even if it is useless for working in. Hope it is sorted soon.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Well it gives a very ambient atmospheric picture without all the Bulbs, even if you can't see what your doing!!! Why do Bulbs do that? Instead of all blowing they always leave one..weird.
The Glitter holder is a brilliant Idea, mind you I am way more fascinated by the glitter within. Don't think I have ever seen that much in one space, apart from in a shop (I live a sheltered life and obviously need to get out more!!!)

That's not good having your lights all go - with the one bulb it is a bit like working in a cave! :<) You always do manage though to create beauty! No offense Mrs. Dunnit, but I have to say that Mr. Dunnit has won the creativity prize this week - OMG what an awesome work of art that staircase is! Beautiful! Wishing you both a happy day!

Anyways - I didn't join in this week because last week was, lets say a bit of a disaster! I posted the wrong bloody weeks desk - didn't realise 'til Saturday! (sorry for the swearing - it's for comedy effect!)...

Anyway, I was receiving comments on the wrong week and thought - why are people looking at that post instead of the new one - I'm not sure when the penny actually dropped - but drop it did. So did I!
