It's a cracker....

Ha, that got you swooning at the thought, huh!  No, nothing to do with that particular season.  Instead, I wanted to put an idea to you.  Well some of you.  And it was LunchLadyJan's idea, not mine.  Because she's braver than me.  But it is a cracker of an idea.  OK, get on with it.  How about, on Saturday October 13th 2012, you come to a 'Crop/bring a craft to do' day here in Ludgershall or somewhere near.  Bring another WOYWWer, or two.  We'll meet, chat and possibly even craft.  Most importantly, we'll have lunch...designed and prepared by erm, LunchLady Jan.  So pretty much what we did recently with Elizabeth and Di, but scaled up a bit.  It's fair to say that Jan has been trying to co-ordinate a meet of about five WOYWWers but diaries are a problem, so the idea of picking a date relatively well into the future seems sensible, non?  Might give you a chance to consider your diary, and make a plan.  There are railway stations within an easy drive so you could be collected from Andover, Pewsey, Salisbury...check 'em out if trains work for you, that's the sort of co-ordinating that we need to know about!  We think about 10am to 4pm, we think that to cover hall hire and food it will probably be about £10 per head for the day...it will work at whatever it costs, this isn't a commercial venture for profit, obviously.
If you'd like to come, leave a comment...if we can get a feel for numbers, I can get the hall booking committed and we can look forward. Don't be afraid of coming on your own...I'll be nervous enough for both of us. And it will be fine.
Told you it was a cracker.

And...if you live too far away, but tend to visit the Crafts for Christmas show at the NEC....watch out, there's another plan being hatched!

  1. What a lovely idea! Just checked the AA Route mappy thing and I'm about 2.25 hours away from you... it is my sister's 40th birthday around then so can you put me down for a 'possible' and I'll let you know if I can attend nearer the time when I've been told when I'm required for merry making and other olde worldy celebratory nonsense...!

  14. That's a good date for me too!!! Let me know if a car is picking up from the station if not I will try and get a lift over.

I can say for certain (assuming I can get there)that I can bring some unwanted supplies with me. That might mean people travelling on the train could have less to transport?

  16. Good idea Julia but a bit too far for me I'm afraid, but if it carries on raining like this the county may shrink and it will be much more of a possibility. On the other had it is Mr B's birthday that weekend plus 2 of my Grandchildren so I wouldn't be very popular if it missed those.

  17. Do I need asking twice? I'm up for it Julia/Jan. Grinning here - only hope those travelling by train don't bring wobbly jellies and such - could make for some interesting journeys :)

Can I bring me knitting and just natter?

  28. I wish I lived a bit closer. Like on your side of the pond. I would definitely be there if I could.

Sorry I've been absent. I had a computer meltdown, then left town for several days before I could correct the problem. Not a good time to be gone, that's for sure. Thanks for your visit, though. It was so sweet of you.

  30. Will be thinking of you all as I go to see my sketchbook which is touring the world and in London that week as part of the Brooklyn Sketchbook Project.
We had a fantastically funny lady do a cracker workshop at our group last year. It was a brilliant couple of hours. Her display of crackers was awesome, she had them in every colour, for every celebration you can think of.
Hope all your planning goes well Julia and Jan x x

  35. What great idea Julia (and LLJ of course) I'd love to come and meet up with you all :o)

  36. Have checked the trains and its definitely do-able, Andover would be best for me as it's closer to London (and therefore cheaper) but if Salisbury is better for whoever gets lumbered with doing pick-ups that's ok too...so it's a yes from me.

  37. Only just seen this and you know what, that just might be doable. Will have to check the leave possibilities for that Saturday but I have a sneaky feeling I've already booked it off. So a definite maybe from me LOL.

  41. Well, I've dropped off the circuit recently, but if I try very hard at joining in again, will you let me along?
(I have a good excuse as to my disappearance, and it might mean I quite close by, by October).

  42. well, i'm still wading though dozens of emails as per usual, and reading backwards through your posts (via email) to come across this one...

I lost count on how many times I suggested a meet in the earlier days...

However, it might be a bit of a drive for me on my own given my current state of health, but living in Derbyshire, I can say with some conviction that i'm pretty much in the centre of the country - maybe a great place to consider one day and there is a venue almost across the road from me (well, my estate anyway)...

I would sincerely love to come and join you - but it would have to be an overnight stay for me as I wouldn't be able to manage there and back in the same day (maybe if on the train, but a it expensive, I'm guessing). I know one day we will meet - perhaps some more local meets could be arranged for peeps who live near to others - then further on, maybe delegations of WOYWWers could come in their coachloads to Tattershall??? I an ideal world - we'd live in WOYWW village lol.

    'til we meet someday,

    Paula x x x
