What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 139 the edit!!

Oh, and just to catch y'all out, I'm posting this early Tuesday evening...need to be on the road early tomorrow and..hey, well, why not! Well, starring on mine, nothing particular, but a spectacular mess.  How unusual!  I took this photo yesterday afternoon before the light started to fail (I thought), and it has changed slightly.  Because of course, even though I've had 31 days to do it, my February calendar page isn't ready...and actually still isn't, but it's nearly there.  There's an acrylic box at left which houses my stick on and other gems...open, with a badly drawn sketch thrown on top of it.  Under that are the scraps that I used to make cards that you've seen on this blog recently.  The Elusive Images stamp set and the few clear stamps underneath that are waiting to have their fate decided - put away (again) or give up and sell on. Dunno yet, probably will wait until they really are in my way!  Inevitably there's heaps of glue dots and rubbish that could so quickly and easily be put in the bin.  That would make the place look better.  But hey, the ladder's still out in the garden, why should I have guilt about tidying?! For those of you that drew in your breath when you saw the photo, let me assure you that I did NOT clear up before I started on the calendar.  No siree, didn't occur to me.  Desperate, slutty measures.
So, share your space..desk, floor, tray, arm of chair, kitchen worktop..wherever and whatever you are creating, we like to see.  Use WOYWW in your post title so we can find it easily, and link your post here....we'll visit if we can.  But you have to visit too...reciprocal nosiness is very much a part of this thing!
**Ahem...step onto soap box**
Because of our expanding numbers, adverts and posts dated prior to Wednesday or un-related to WOYWW will for the most part be ignored...it's much easier to click away than to really 'police' this.  There aren't many rules, but for the sake of your hit rate/comments/reputation, you should reconsider doing  WOYWW if your intention is to gain from it in any other way than by becoming a part of this very friendly, silly, artistic, inspiring and sometimes tidy community.  Thank You.  Please scroll right down for the edit!!

Janet accuses me of 'do what I say, not what I do' and it's taken me a while to work out why...and I realise it's because I say in the soap box section that posts dated prior to Wednesday will be ignored....of course it's not at all what I mean....I mean that if you link any post other than a WOYWW one (for example, your regular Tuesday post that is unrelated to WOYWW) then it will for the most part, be ignored.  Too many real WOYWW posts to visit.  The time you load your post for WOYWW is of no consequence, and if it suits y'all better for me to post for about 1am (GMT) on Wednesdays, then I will..but I won't be doing it live!!

  8. Great opportunity to be naughty and post early as DH has to be in hospital VERY early so I have a sick note for permission! Sorry Miss!
Great desk and back to normal with lots of crafty goodness, aka MESS, there this week.

  9. Yes, I think seeing the desk results in a Pavlovian response, and you are powerless not to link. I always troll blog land late night and was so stunned to see it, I linked, then, because I was so excited I could, commented, T HEN I actually READ the post. Doh! Then I had to dash back and sort out the post!

I'm sure I'll hear all about it Saturday...unless the snow actually materializes. :)

  11. Great minds think alike, Julia, to post at this time - we need to be up and out in the morning and busy the rest of the day, so thought I'd prepare my post this evening ... and then found you were open for business! Love your 'active' desk - evidence of lots of bits and pieces going on. x

  15. OMG ...I am actually No 12 ...cant remember the last time I was lower than 40....thanks for doing this early ...or is it late? ... this week.

I rarely tidy if I want to create ....just put things on the floor or push them a little ...to give space ...trouble is my bed is the other side and sometimes I go to climb in and find bits and pieces have jumped off the desk so I have to chuck them back where they belong. If I do tidy I find that the thing I need has been put away ...what a waste of time and energy. xx

Whatever have you done to make Wednesdays so "IMPORTANT!" Sometimes I think you should have another meme with What's in Your Garden, or Street or something, cause I was curious about your ladder and took a closer look! Absurd really!! 25. Oooh - a mass WOYWW lie in is on the horizon for the desperate folk (me) still blog browsing at this ungodly hour...and alas, numbers past 30,000 for those that will gasp tomorrow. I Was telling LLJ - you have no idea what, who and how far WOYWW has reached into lives. I owe many a rung on my still young crafty blogging ladder to your fair name. A heartfelt thank you INDEED! 29. Hi Julia, Your desk looks suitably creative. I must say I loved those cards in your post Sat 28. They are really gorgeous! Thanks for posting early. I have had the flu (and it's summer here), so I can have an early mark today. Hooray!

  30. This is my very first time to join you for the party! Peggy came by & left a comment for me & that is how I found out about all of you. Now, I'm off to play & see what all of you have on your desks! Hello from the "New Kid On The Block"

  32. I love the card! Have a wonderful trip!

Also - I just wanted to say I usually post Tuesday nights because I won't make it to work on time if I link in the morning (I'm so not a good early morning person!) I'll set an early alarm next week so I can do it Wednesday, but is it okay to leave it this time? I love checking out all the blogs (two weeks ago I even managed to get around to all of them! My usual is 60-70... but it helped that my boyfriend was working nights!) so I don't want to be disqualified!

    ReplyDelete
  33. thanks for posting early .... and I still got #32. I think there are quite a few woyww's who sit waiting for you to link. Loving the card with rosebuds and slutty measures nice balance of naughty and nice.

Not sure of the rules for those in other countries.

I have posted this now but will recheck the rules for out of country and timezones for next month.

Safe journey to you Julia...thanks for the kind comment on my blog...

So glad to hear that others leave out the things they are thinking of getting rid of...helps you really decide when you see it, I think.

Looks you have been busy creating...:)

  44. Happy Wednesday! I know I'm supposed to comment on the creative mess but I was so pleased to see the ladder make another entrance - just shows that your house, like so many of our houses, have people who start a job and then don't always clean up after it - much like my desk this week! Love it!

  73. Yikes - a lot of early birds here today :) In between stamping a load of stamps for my new fangled systema for organising them - and then cleaning them one by one I'll be hopping round blogs - if only to check whether anyone else has a deck chair on their desk Julia!! Remember, you can come over and help to clean the stamps - I have plenty of baby wipes here - and I KNOW how you adore cleaning stamps :)) Di xx

  88. heheheh didnt have time to post a comment before, but now I get to see the clarification!! I was wondering!! I must admit, for some reason Blogger kept sending people to an old post last week, which was most annoying!! Especially as the WOYWW post was right there!! Then I tried to repost it to the main blog page, and it was still sending people to the wrong one, Stupid Blogger!!! Last weeks is there somewhere, I promise! and this weeks is as well!! Have tried the tip about changing to a pop up comment box, and hope it works, I did visit everyone last week, but commenting was a no no for some stupid reason. Right off to start again from number 40!!

Have a good week hun, xx

  91. Well, OH has finished repairing my greenhouse, but our ladder still lies on our lawn, and I realise I genuinely don't know where it should live!

    ReplyDelete
  92. Somehow or other, I didn't read the part in red. Not sure how I missed it before, but I saw it on someone's blog. Yes, 1 am GMT would work a LOT better for me, but I've adjusted my lifestyle to stay up late on Tuesday night. After all, I know how to figure the six hour difference (grin).

    ReplyDelete
  93. You could train some ivy over the ladder in an artistic way and it would then become garden art:)

  108. Cooo people sure do stay up late round these har parts. I bypassed all the excitement by going to bed! The pouch is for my mouthy stitches swap partner. It is intended to hold a small embroidery hoop containing some work. I also plan to make a felt needle / scissors pouch and probably a little bag to hold threads :) I also wait with great excitement to see what I get back. It did occur to me looking at it today now the owl us finished and attached it would make a very reasonable picture if framed!

  109. hiya I haven't visited for such a long time I thought it was time I joined in lol with such a fun topic. I too leave things out deciding what to do with them, but they always ended being put away as I dont like to get rid of any of my craft stuff lol

  114. Seems totally reasonable to me. Thankfully, I've not run across many posts that impose on your generosity in hosting WOYWW.

  115. Thanks so much for being here. I am coming back to blog land and what better place to start re-connecting than here on WOYWW.

  116. Boy you caught a lot of people on the hop this week, can't believe I'm languishing at 115! And no, please, no earlier that your 6am, otherwise I'll be at 200 and something. But one thing's for sure, you're never going to be able to please all the people all the time so don't fret about it. I'm with you on the non WOYWW posts, I click away each time, unless it's a regular showing us what last weeks mess turned into.

    Hugs

  118. YIKES!! number 146..... waaaahhhhh.... so far down the line! Serves me right. Sleep is really so over rated...why do I bother? I just lie there and toss and turn anyway.....

I dont think some of the ladies quite understood what you meant by the thing about linking up only the Wednesday post..... and of course, as usual, some are linking their whole blogs for advertising purposes, etc... but, maybe they will get it now... okay...off to visit a few ...

  133. I noticed that the ladder was still there right away and had a good chuckle at that. I confess that I made up my post early yesterday, knowing I wouldn't be home until way late last night. That means I rather fibbed in the whole thing, in fact there was a difference in my desk--my cat sitter piled all the mail up on it. I'm glad to be home! And as a fellow dental sufferer, you can relate to this story--I'm out of town that toothache gets so bad that I had to get it taken care of in Mexico (about 90 minute drive from where I saw staying). I'm pleased to report that one root canal later I'm better. I am going to have words with the dentist I saw just before leaving town!! Grrrr... I may even bite her with my new crowns.

  134. Hello!

A 'spectacular mess' - I like that phrase! For the past few weeks that describes how I have felt! :<) Wicked nasty viral - can't remember when I was last that ill. Anyway, I love your blog and your messes and all the wonderful people to visit! Wishing you a happy day!

    Hugs,

  136. There was me think I was early this morning, only to find that you were early too and you made me look late again, Lol!

Loving the busy desk again this week, especially the colours that you’re working with. Lavender and Blue always look good together.

    Happy Crafting!

  143. I seem to somehow have linked to an old woyww post by mistake. My apologies. I don't know if it's possible, but you can remove me from link #146. I reentered my name on #182 with the correct link. Hope that's okay.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Oh, Julia please don't change the time you publish!! I admit to being a bit anal about trying to be as high up the list as I can, but little things please little minds they say.... besides, I can link as I get up and ready for my ridiculously early departure for the job that all being well sort of pays for my "little" hobby!!!! Love always.(won't be able to make Farnborough, but thanks for the offer)

  145. Good morning Julia, Thursday now, but I did visit on Wednesday and managed to get my WOYWW in the early double figures, but only because I was up till the wee hours and saw you had posted your desk, I have managed to comment on almost every desk again this week, but it is astounding how much time it takes and well it has worn me out, (I ‘waffle’ far to much) thoroughly enjoyed it, but it’s a bit much for my poor little brain to take, so I will have to find a way of simplifying my visiting next week, Thank you for enabling me to get out and meet lots of new interesting people when I am mostly unable to get out of the house. I also love the idea that my ideas (few though they are hehe) may be of help to someone else and they would not have noticed me in the big wide blog world, had it not been for WOYWW. Hope you have a great week Lou @#26

  151. I love the card, and I think your desk is well-controlled! Too funny on the earlybirds! I always feel guilty posting a day or two later-I wish I could post up immediately! Have a great weekend.

  152. Julia, your term "push back technique" has me cackling!! I so do that. You wouldn't believe all the layers of stuff under stuff around the areas in which I work. Alas, the push back only works for so long until I have crowded out all my space to work. :)

    ReplyDelete
  153. My goodness lots of posts since I posted earlier....this site sure is growing....and it's no wonder, I love checking out everyone's creative desks.

Julia, your desk looks really busy....Isn't it great to make a mess and come out with a treasure. I just wish I had a little angel to come in and clean up my mess.

I was able to add another card today. I love productive days.

    See you next week.....
