Stop moaning about the lack of space in your work area. Or, stop buying stuff. Today I've tidied up sufficiently to discover that I need a shoe horn to get anything new into the correct places.
So a shoe horn I have fashioned! Yeah, I finally made it over to Shopkeeper Gal's to have a rummage in the sale. The beeyoooooootiful wood mounted stamps with little orange stickers were £1 each. £1. And the boxed Hero Arts sets were £5 each. I mean, it would have been rude not to, huh. I shall choose a quieter day to go back again - so I can fully concentrate; it was busy, and I was chatting of course, and that doesn't help my focus! Also pictured is the new Portobello Road stuff from DO Crafts. The first I think, of many vintage and new style scrapbook collections featuring all things Great Britain and Union flags. It's a big year here, in dear old blighty, and this particular Brit intends to make the most of it. Meanwhile, back in the bulging cupboards...I think I've resigned myself to a storage 'solution' for the clear stamps, and will show and tell next week. I've also had a good clear out of the 12" paper section. I haven't tackled the felt pens or embellishments yet. There's a limit to my strength of purpose. Well, unless it's about taking note of my own notes. Then I'm hopeless, obviously.
Oh Julia your post made me laugh - you remind me of me!! I have been long complaining about lack of space and organisation in my crafty corner and yet I just keep buying lol
ReplyDeleteI have my clear stamps stored in old cd boxes (well, most of them are) I have this weekend off and fully intend on a clear out and producing some cards - don't hold your breath!!
Have fun, Hayley xx
obviously =)
ReplyDeleteLove your bargains! I am trying hard to not buy anything new as I must economise this year... we'll see how long that one lasts!
ReplyDeleteWell it sounds like your reorganising and tidying is working and it inspired you to buy more goodies too. Wonder how you will squeeze them in LOL, we always manage though don't we. Your bargains look great, those DO papers etc sound interesting . Happy New Year. Tracy x
ReplyDeleteYour supplies sound so fun! Good luck with the not buying more...you can never have too many art supplies!
ReplyDeleteThis made me laugh and I think we must twins separated at birth!
ReplyDeleteLinbyx
Ooh lovely goodies.
ReplyDeleteC xx
I really can't see how you could have resisted those stamps at that price! There must be a wee corner somewhere in your craftroom to store them. I peeked at that paper today - don't know how I resisted but I did ... might yet succumb :)) Elizabeth x
ReplyDeleteI think this is a problem for most crafters...when we have no room for the things we have we buy more :-) Do you think we are all clones?
ReplyDeleteHugs,
A x
or move to bigger accomodation?
ReplyDeletejust been to see Norma where you confessed to using metal treasury tags as ears,
did the dentist do something more to you than fix your teeth?
I do love woywww, the entries, the consomme (spell check correction for comments), the people, it is such a fabulous thing...
had to say
because often in a world of unsmiling effort I ALWAYS, if not laugh out loud, end up beaming ear to metal tagged ear after my desk hops...
thank you
dxxx
You couldn't pass up a good bargain, I'm sure you'll find space for your new goodies. I also struggled with clear stamp storage when I first started purchasing them, I ended up using plastic storage folders from Close to My Heart (not sure if that's available over the ocean). Looking forward to seeing what you storage solution is!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with Doone btw :D.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if you know that I, Ohhh Snap, am a craftoholic. The upside to be severely fiscally challenged at the moment (aka toooo many car repair bills this year) is that it has really slowed the influx of products lol.
So I'm trying to be realistic about my space, my time and my energy and I'm sorting through entire craft genres. I've decided I will probably never piece together a traditional quilt, so I gifted those patterns to my sister who knows people who will make them. But it's tiring as heck. I don't know if I'll ever be comfortable with a clear workdesk though lol.
More goodies for you! Isn't it something, we clear out a little teeny space and think we need to fill it up again. Can't wait to hear what you do with the clear stamps. Oh, and what do you do with the 12 x 12 paper? I don't really scrapbook but I have LOADS. I like all the colors and textures - some even have a hint of glitter!!! Right now I have my paper laying flat but can't really see the designs.. and it seems that the best paper is always at the bottom. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteTaking off to work tomorrow to go bargain hunting at the craft stores. I need to knit up two baby blankets!
Hugs,
Kay
Good luck with the organising - I am so bad at that, I can't tell you the nifty wallets that I have rushed out to get after seeing some magical solution on somebody's blog....never used. Now I have a problem about where to store my storage!
ReplyDeletehugs

I hope it's ok but I have just nominated it for blog of the month in craft stamper mag. after I did it I though if more people see it I'm never going to get round everyone and you will never have any time for anything... sorry
ReplyDeletejanet
Crafty folk are so easily tempted!! You will make space for it and you will enjoy using it so then... no prob! x Jo
ReplyDeleteI do hear you with the trying to stop....
ReplyDeleteThanks for the laugh this morning. Alas, I too fall head first into the sales bins..
In fact most people never see my face, just the shoes kicking in the air as I scramble to the very bottom of the bins....
I am very interested to see your acrylic stamp solutions, My growing pile isn't working for me any more...
Can't wait to see your clear stamp storage idea! Love your new stash, its impossible to ignore a bargain!!! xx
ReplyDeleteJanuary sales - they're evil!!
ReplyDeleteThanks you for showing an interest in my Christmas 2012 plan along. This will start in earnest on my blog in October, but I have a first suggestion for getting organised for Christmas 2012 in my post today. It’s all about packing up efficiently.

When you're finished using your shoe horn, may I borrow it?!
ReplyDeleteYou're obviously in New Year New Broom mode, Julia! I've been having a sort-out today too - just got some new paper storage!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your lovely comment on my blog about my hubby's silver wedding card. Yes, for certain things I have patience - plenty of it! I also love mixed media and experimenting.
On the subject of my hubby recognising it - nooooo, fraid not, he didn't!!! If you look at my silver wedding celebration video (opening our presents) you can see him not recognising it - and neither did my mum and dad! They're all 'opeless. I got "What's this fish thing?" I ask you. Hubbies.
Hugs,
Shoshi
I just keep buying more drawers lol
ReplyDeleteLOL, i'm getting one of those shoe horns!
ReplyDeleteLmao, I think every crafter has the same problems Julia, I can't find things so keep buying the same stuff :) xx
ReplyDeleteThank you for your visit earlier, Julia, and thank you for sorting out the colour problem with the blog names. There are other ways round the problem, I know, but it really threw me at the time, cos I could not remember where I had been that week. I am still trying the shoe horn trick, with limited success, but the effort continues. xx Maggie
ReplyDeleteah Julia do so agree with you about storage - think it is the bane of every crafters life and yes well done on the stash you must help shop-gal out now mustn't you - what an awesome name Ole blighty - wonder where it came from cos it rhymed with mighty or wot?! blessings over there, Shaz in oz.x
ReplyDeleteI have been away on summer hols, so don't know when you changed your blog look, but I feel right at home with the zebra print, being from South Africa and all! I can relate so well to your sales dilemma! Who can pass up a good bargain? Especially when it is something you have had your eye on for a while! The only problem is that it compounds your space issue, or should I say the lack there of.
ReplyDeleteI am also awaiting your stamp storage solution as I am outgrowing the container I am using...
Those boxed Hero Arts stamps look fab. I've bought sooo many sale stamps too this year! Have also sent you an e-mail :->
ReplyDeleteJane xx
Hi Julia,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for hosting WOYWW! I am not sure I can do it every week, but it sure is a fun thing to see what other folks are working on! I loved this post about shoe- horning more stuff in. I have the same bad habit, and I will show you all on one of the WOYWW in the near future ;)
It would be very rude not to take advantage of all the super goodies that tend to be around at this time of year when crafting retailers need to clear some space for New Stock - unfortunately they don't sell the space to go with LOL
ReplyDeleteToni xx
Fabby deals you found there! You're right, it would have been rude not to.
ReplyDeleteI'm taking not of your note and making a note to myself as well. Same note exactly..
ReplyDeleteSome good finds!! I sometimes think with ALL the STUFF I will have to move UP the walls and get a small step stool. Can't wait for the clear stamp ideas...enjoy
ReplyDeletegreat news from CS . . . fame at last !!!
ReplyDeletethanks for the tip about glue dots .. didn't think about those, might have to make some more roses.
