What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 133

Well here it is..not even cleared off for use as a bar this year.  Yet. That may or may not come to pass, we'll see. After a visit from Morti and Mr B, my tree is a hand beaded bauble better decorated and my desk - described by Morti as part of an 'efficient' space, is back in use.  Mr Dunnit heads out to a couple of customers to spread Christmas thanks and cheer today, so I'm making the bottle label things that look kinda like door hangers - you can just see them above the black punch at right. Nothing like last minute, huh!  There's the beginnings too of what looks like a scrapbook page.  It will in fact be a shadow box containing a lovely candid photo of a young couple at their wedding and some of the bits that I collected on the day - you know, confetti, favour wrapper etc.  I'll try to remember to show it at some stage...which means photographing it before it gets wrapped up.  Which implies my intention to finish it.  Great stuff, intent! It's all a bit over exposed I think, but there's a half finished bag of silver curling ribbon and the rest of the wrapping up stuff, just dumped.  Not a single stamp has been put away.  Again, I hate storing clear stamps.  I'm still trying to 'do a Neil' - yes you, Neil! Sign of some progress is standing on top of the button jar.  Of course!
I know lots of you don't or wont pass this way between WOYWW days, so please accept my best wishes and warm fuzzies for a peaceful and Happy Christmas.

Join us by linking here - show us your 4-days-to-go state; post a picture to your blog and link up here.  Please put WOYWW in the title and don't link if it's not a post about your desk/surface/blah...it should at least be a link for today, not a non WOYWW post earlier this week.  Thank you.  Please don't make me set real rules, this is meant to be fun.  Off to Heathrow today, Sissy Dunnit's coming, Hurrah!!!

  1. Is your desk fuzzy because it's the crack of dawn? You've got a bit of stuff happening there! And I'd like to know a satisfactory way of storing clear stamps too. Actually, any unmounted stamps, although taking up less room, are all a challenge to store, I find. The only neatly stored stamps are the wood mounted ones, and I try to not buy many of those these days, because the others take up such little space (haha), don't they? Merry Christmas Julia!

  2. Humm. Wierdness abounds. Trying to comment, and somehow I went to WOYWW 60, and a post about Miss Dunnit in a prom dress! Anyway, I do pop in fairly frequently, but can only comment when the stars align. I'm sure it's me, and not You :). In any case, have the most festive of holidays, enjoy Sissy Dunnit, an I will see you in the New Year!

  3. Well we wouldn't know we had come to the right place if it had been all cleaned off and tidy, now would we? I am too in the 'leave it to the last minute group'... why I do this, I have no idea!!
Wishing you a very Happy Christmas Julia.

  9. Hi there Julia your desk is always such a comfort to me! love its efficiency as Morti says! as I do get in such a clutter, too - not that I ever get to show it often as have to keep cleaning it up for dining table! maybe next year when have my craft room (trying not write IF) never know - anyway all the blessings of the season Julia and thanks so much for being the hostess with the mostest - add here - charm, kind etc. etc. love Shaz in oz.x

  11. There is always so much going on there on your desk .... makes my work rate look pathetic - I am possibly the slowest crafter known to man.

Can't way to see the layout.

    Have a happy one.

  19. No matter how far ahead we plan I think we just keep thinking up ideas to create and it is LAST MINUTE before we know it.
Great little treasure for the new couple. Storage, there is NO simple way, most of us don't have enough space for convience.
Julia, thanks for the fun on WOYWW, wishing you and yours a "MERRY HOLIDAY"

  20. Still lots going on for you I can see. Keep going but do plan some time for real R and R. I'm winding down today and will be hibernating then til 3rd Jan :-)

  21. Look forward to seeing your shadow box.
As for storage - well, rooms with elastic sides would be a good idea if someone could come up with them.
Here's hoping you and yours have a wonderful Christmas, thanks for bringing so many like-minded folk together every week - that's the way friendships are made, and so many are, thanks to you. Happy Christmas!

  22. Well all my stamps are away, card stock too and thats why all Ive got on my desk is my laptop :D :D
I dont know how many times I have made a gift thinking I must photograph this before wrapping and then only realised I havent photographed it when Ive finished some beautiful wrapping and then its the 'can I tease the ribbon and tape of without tearing the paper etc' only to give up and squash it all back down when it looks like its ruined!
Anyway enough blah blah, Merry Christmas Julia and a Happy New Year x
    Helen

  23. I love how you desk is always a hub of activity. It wouldn't be your desk otherwise. I have given up on storage solutions. No matter how big the cupboard or how clever the solution it will never be big enough or solution focused enough to handle a crafter!!

  24. Sorry ...nothing crafty ....but had to drop by and wish you a Very Happy Christmas and New Year. xx

  25. Merry Christmas!!! Your desk is looking very busy today, scissors, the big gluing thing, puzzles? and stamps, I know, stamps...and where to put them. I realise my aim to use the stamps I didn't use last year (coz they are hidden in a plastic box still in their bags unopened) has failed. I did get three lots out, and they are still out, unused, expect for one...there's always next year!
Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!

  28. Merry Christmas! Your desk looks to be in a much better shape today then mine. I am with and understand procrastination and starting things at the last minute and that is why my desk isn't in the pics and my door is shut to the craft room cause too many gifts are still not finished! Have a great holiday! Vickie #44

  49. Hi Julia, A well used desk is a beloved thing! Luckily you have to step into my dining room area to see mine so visitors that don't get past the living room have no idea what lurks around the corner!!!

I hope you and yours have a great Christmas. Looking forward to 2012 with new blog friends!

  53. Julia, with the year coming to an end, and Christmas 2011 soon to be just a memory, I want to take a moment to say, Thank You. You've made Wednesday's special. Through you I've been introduced to many fantastic crafters, some of whom have become friends. You make the world a smaller and much more friendly place. Happy Holidays to you and yours and to everyone who stops by on Wednesday for a crafty visit!

  54. Somehow I got all the holiday madness together before the holiday and have moved on to other things (not desk cleaning though, but you knew that!). Thanks for sharing and offering up this great website. I get inspiration for crafty ideas by looking at others' projects and inspiration for desk organization (or non-organization) by looking at others' desk AND I find myself thinking, what project can I share on Wednesday? All part of a winning combination!

It's a busy time for us all but I'm sure it's worth it in the end. Enjoy your precious time with your sister and have a very merry Christmas. Elizabeth x #46

  72. Hi Julia- I went for silicone glue, and balanced acrylic blocks on top while they set, in the end. Tried loads of stuff, and they were murder to get to stay in shape while they set. I'm wondering now if the Pinflair superglue gel might work, if it sets fast enough! Hope you have a wonderful Christmas, Love Shaz #19

  73. Hi Julia, sorry I didn't make it this week. I send suitable seasonal greetings to all concerned and hope that at least some managed to keep to your wonderful manifesto for a stress-free Christmas!!! I've been flat out in both senses of the word just recently - flat out busy trying to complete everything and in between, flat out on the settee trying to recover (unsuccessfully) - I'm totally wiped out and am not looking forward to the weekend!!! It will be quiet on Christmas day as we go to a friend's house with my mum and dad who are very elderly and won't want to stay late, and then to my b-i-l's family on Boxing day.

To put everyone out of their misery after my last week's WOYWW post about bag skirts, I've now uploaded 2 posts about them,, complete with a video! Enjoy!!

Hugs to all, and see you all soon, I hope,
